The Soul Keepers Chapter 1 (no yiff)
It was a foggy day in the between of heaven and hell, when a shadowy figure approaches a gate that was fairly large as if to keep something put. The figure turns out to be a beautiful black and white WindDragoness named "Demon". Demon holds a piece of paper in her claw and looks at her assignment for the day. On the paper it read in large black letters "FIND DOOR LIKE BUILDING STRUCTURE" and under that was a picture of a young six year old human girl laying on a window sill dead. Damn! Why'd the hell they give me another assignment that deals with a young girl? They know damn well I hate doing assignments with young girls that die a tragic death. Ugh! Well it can't be done I better finish reading this and head off. Demon shakes her head as she continues to read the assignment and finds out that this girl had died under a highway in New York.
Demon sighs as she tucks the paper away before heading out the gates and into the real world. Once in New York, Demon looks around for the highway but finds it in instant and also the house that was described in the assignment. Well at least it's not cold like last time. Demon thought as she heads over to the small building. The building looked as if someone had made it from trash and other junk as Demon approaches she sees the young girl laying in the made sill of the front window.
Carefully, Demon opens the main door to get inside to find the place rather dusty than smelly. Demon takes a knife from her leg strappings on her legs and looks around to see if there was danger within the building. But when she saw there wasn't Demon relaxes a little and puts the knife away back on her leg. As Demon looked around, she sees a small porcelain doll lying in a chair. Demon turns slowly around while keeping her eyes on it to find it very pretty. The doll had beautiful brown curls with a red bonnet on her head. Demon crouches staring at the doll fascinated for a while Demon sat there staring until she decides to take it.
As Demon reaches out to touch the doll's red dress, it began to glow and floats into the air and then sits back down to where it was before. Demon blinks before smiling as she takes the doll carefully in her paws and looks over at the window where the small girl was lying and walks over to her. Demon looks at her before slowly running a claw along the girl's body feeling insane pain run through her body before it ended showing her how the girl dies by her captor. Man that poor girl, if I ever find that man...._Demon pets the girl's hair before carefully picking her up as she took one last look around before heading out with one last thought bares in her mind. _I'll kill him
Demon walks out of the building feeling better that she was outside again but feels another beings presence that makes her skin crawl. Demon slowly turns around to see a creature just 50 feet from where she was standing with the dead girl in her arms. Demon swallows hard as she knew what it was. This thing was called a "SoulThief". SoulThieves steal souls from Soul Catchers so they can take the souls to hell or just eat the bodies of the dead and souls. The SoulThief turns into a black and white dragon that looked like her but it now looked like her lover Ranshiin. The Dragon walks to her as it calls out making her shiver slightly. "You Demon? My name's bloodlust but you can call me blood. I'm a soul thief but I'm not here for a soul." He says as Demon had the girl in her arms looking angry and ready for a fight. "I'm here to quench my thirst for some blood and a good fight is all."Demon's eyes widen as she turns to the girl and teleports her back to the other world and also sent a signal for help with a flick of her paw.
Blood smirks as he approaches Demon who had brought her knife out and held it right by her side in case she needed it. "Demon Demon, shame on you for not being polite" Blood uses his power to keep her still as a rock while he knocks the knife 90 feet away from her outstretched hand. Blood then stabs Demon in her stomach with his knife giving Demon time to knock him away while clutching her stomach. As Blood tries to get up, Demon quickly scrambles to her feet and makes a run for her knife but gets knocked over painfully to her side. Damn! How the hell can I attack if he continues to attack me? Maybe there's a weakness to it though. I hope so if I'm to live for long. Demon gets up while grinding her teeth and throws a WingTornado at Blood as she grabs her knife with blood dribbling down her mouth.
But to her surprise, blood the SoulThief was gone. Demon growls as she puts away her knife but collapses to the ground from being wounded. Demon's vision becomes blurry as she sees to figures approach her as she hears them fussing over her. "Demon! She's wounded hurry Gunta. She must get back home. Demon stay with me don't black out you hear me?" Demon tries to speak but her nothing comes out of her rumbling throat as she slowly closes her eyes and blacks out as she hears someone scream.
_Am I floating? It feels like I am. Am I dead? No that can't be I fought Blood a SoulThief and I won. But then why am I floating? Oh maybe my dad sent for me to see him which of course is really rare. But then why am I floating......tired sooo tired........_Demon slowly opens her eyes to find herself in a hospital room that had several doctors and nurses floating about checking on the patients as Demon tries to sit up pain rushes through her body as she screams out in pain. A doctor nearby sees her up and quickly lays her back down. "Easy easy girl you must rest but you have a visitor so you may stay up for a bit longer." Demon nods as the door opens to reveal a small girl about six years old holding a small doll in her arms.
Demon smiles as she looks at the small girl who runs over to her bedside. "You okay? I was worried I wouldn't be able to thank you for saving my soul from that Soul stealer!" she says as she makes a face. "Yuck! What nasty things." She sticks out her tongue in disgust." So what's your name? Mine's Abbey and this is Mary Jane Crosswire!" Demon smiles as she looks at the doll. "My name's Demon. Pleased to meet you Abbey and Mary Jane Crosswire" Abbey smiles as she holds her doll close to her chest as she pulls up a chair and sits beside Demon's bed. Demon sits up a little so she could listen to Abbey's story about her family and how she ended up in that small shack, where she soon died from her neck being broken.
Around about noon, Demon's doctor comes in (who was human but not a SoulCatcher like some of the other humans within this world) smiling from ear to ear as he saw how much Abbey and Demon had bonded over the past few hours. "Well well it seems that you have made a new friend no?" Abbey smiles as does Demon. "Yeah Doctor Jackal! I want to be a SoulKeeper like Demon." Doctor Jackal frowns as he looked sadden. "Well Abbey you have to be judged first before you may make your choice." "Oh" Abbey looked down not very happy as she was. Demon seeing how Abbey looked sad asks. "Doctor Jackal? Why are you called "Jackal?"
The doctor smiles before showing a tattoo of a black dog that looked Egyptian on his arm. Abbey looks up sees the tattoo and begins to laugh her head off. "I got this tattoo when I well met a SoulThief that looked like a Jackal. I won after beating it and got this to show I had indeed slayed a SoulThief by myself." Abbey smiles as she looks at Demon. "Hey Demon? May I if I can be your partner?" "Sure but only if you listen to me. Deal?" Abbey nods as she shakes Demon hand in a deal.
Later after Demon Recovers and finds out Abbey's Judgment.....
Demon stood in a large room that had paintings of angels on the right side of the room with Demons from Hell on the left with tall seats with a desk in the middle. Abbey was trembling as she was scared to find if she was guilty or not. The seven high priests look down upon Abbey as Demon stands next to her. "Demon you are the SoulKeeper who brought her back yes?" Asks a very large blue dragon who was very old. "Yes sir Montage, I have and wish to say I brought her back without a scratch on her." Montage nods as he whispers something to another dragon that was green and not as old as Montage but was getting to that point.
"I hear you battled a SoulThief but they vanished before you could kill them is that right?" Demon swallows as she keeps a straight face. "Yes sir I blacked out after he left me wounded." "I see you may step back as I give Judgment to Abbey." Demon bows as she steps back so Abbey could get her judgment. "Abbey? You died two days ago from having your neck broken correct?" Abbey nods trembling. "Y-yes sir." Demon bows watching as Montage nods before bellowing. "Abbey you have been judged and you are guilty." Demon looks up shocked as Abbey begins to cry as she falls to her knees. "b-but Montage! Abbey's innocent! She hadn't done anything wrong sir what evil has this young girl done?" Montage looks on sadly. "She is a SoulThief and we do not tolerate SoulThieves and you know that Demon."
Demon trembles as she quickly blurts out. "Sir please let me be her partner for two weeks! If I find in her history that she's not a SoulThief may she stay with us?" Abbey stops crying and looks up at Demon whose ear twitches nervously. It took Montage a few minutes as the other priests told him how tragic it could be when Montage lifts his paw to silence the others as he smiles. "Very well, Demon I give you guardianship of this young girl but if anything were to happen it would be your fault understand?" Demon bows as she says. "I know that sir but I feel that she won't do such a thing."
Montage smiles before clapping his hands together. "Then it's done! Abbey you will now be known as Windy." Windy looks up smiling at the name as she feels herself glow and change into another Windragon but more of an adult as she looks at Demon. "Demon you may share you room with her and teach her our ways for the next two weeks." Demon nods as she takes Windy's hand and leads her to the door of the priests' temple.
The temple wasn't really a temple; it was more of tree housing than anything else. But nearby is a forest that has tons of residents living inside the trees with fire giving them light to see at night. Windy looked around the forest village as residents were jumping or climbing from tree to tree or using their costumed made bridges to get to where they needed to go. Demon smiles as she heads over to an elevator type box that went up and down (used often if you were too young to climb or old to get up) into the trees. Demon takes Windy into it as Windy looks around in awe as if not ever having a chance such as this to see this.
Once in the tree, Demon takes Windy to her house and finds a small blue and white dragoness jumping up and done on her bed. "Angel I'm home!" "Demon!" Demon smiles as she hugs her sister before introducing Windy. "Angel? This is Windy she'll be here with us for awhile so try to be nice kay?" Angel nods as she fixes her pilot's cap before running off as Demon makes supper.
After supper, Demon shows Windy her bed before climbing into hers. Windy smiles as she climbs into hers with Angel fast asleep next to Demon. "Demon? Why'd you save me from going to hell?" Demon was laying on her side with her back turned to her but answers. "Because I like you and know your innocent, trust me but right now you should" she yawns. "Get some sleep okay? We have a big day tomorrow." "Okay Demon well Goodnight" "Goodnight" Windy slips under her hand made blankets as she thinks about tomorrow before falling fast asleep. Meanwhile outside the house was blood who smiles as he sits there on a branch. "You'll be mine soon so soon that you won't even remember living." Blood says coldly before laying against the tree waiting for it to be light out so he could watch Demon to see if she would beable to fight like she had but with all her might.
