Five taurs walked towards the small medical clinic, two adults trailed by three cubs, Stonefur, Nightsong and Littleroar, all on leashes.
The chakat was arm in arm with a female wolftaur, her name was Lupukshawteanae, or Lupu for short. The golden furred chakat was named Goldendale, but shi was not always called that, shi had a human name and body once, before an accident with a transporter changed hir body into a hermaphrodite chakat. Shi was called Dale Perkins, and was a victim of a Humans First attack.
They both were mated, and had recently moved to Chakona from Terra, to escape the Humans First discrimination with their other extended family members. They were disheartened to learn, that months before their arrival, the Humans First had struck in the heart of Amistad, detonating a bomb and killing dozens of furs and humans as well as injuring hundreds more.
Shortly, there will be a memorial held at the site of the new mall where the tragedy had taken place.
Upon entering the clinic, Lupu approached the desk, which had a chakat seated behind it. Hir name tag read Sasha Starprancer. Shi was typing information on a keyboard. A picture on the wall behind hir showed a female rabbit morph in a nurse's uniform. Her name said Prue Lightfeet.
Looking up from hir computer screen, shi smiled and ceased hir input of data.
"Good Morning Shir and Ma'am, how may I help you?" shi asked.
"We have a 9am appointment" Goldendale replied, smiling.
"Names."
"Goldendale." The chakat replied.
"Lupukshawteanae." The wolftaur added.
"And the cubs?" shi asked, typing the names into the computer.
"Stonefur, Nightsong and Littleroar." Goldendale said.
"Ohh..." shi replied, a slight sad look fell on hir face.
"What?" Goldendale asked, slightly concerned.
"The information I have here, according to the Starfleet medical data, includes the death information of a one Greypaw... Stonefur's sister?" shi asked, looking at the wolftaur with sympathy in hir eyes.
Lupu stiffened and tears started to swell, but she fought them back and nodded slowly. Goldendale hugged her and rubbed her back.
"Ok, you have an appointment with Dr Stephan Glazer... ummm I hope you don't hold any ill feelings towards humans?" shi asked, looking Lupu square in the eyes.
Lupu stared back but smiled.
"No.. not unless he's a religious fanatic like the H1 bastards." She snarled, spitting the words out.
"Bastards." Stonefur copied, spiting on the floor, getting a disapproving glare from hir mother.
Being only 4 years old, Stonefur had just started speaking, and swear words were discouraged amongst the family, but a few did slip out, and being impressionable, the cubs pick up on these quickly.
"Now now, Stonefur, language dear." The wolftaur scolded, and the cub lowered hir ears and looked down to the floor.
"Sowwy." Shi said.
"That's alright sweety, just remember, bad words mean bad feelings, and chakats shouldn't have bad feelings, because...?" Lupu paused to wait for the cubs answer.
"Bad feelings make us no better than bad people." The cub respond, tail up high.
"Excellent, now give me a hug." She replied, lowering herself down to allow her daughter to hug her.
Both mother and daughter was still nuzzling and hugging when Stephan came out of his office. Standing 6 foot 3 and wearing a white coat and stethoscope, he towered over both mother and daughter, and Stonefur's first reaction was to growl menacingly, which made Lupu and Goldendale too look his way with concern.
Before them stood an African American human, with black short afro hair. His eyes were a sharp bright green orbs that shone with kindness and warmth. In fact, despite his large and massive build, he contained an aura of gentleness, and Goldendale picked up on this through hir limited empathic abilities. Shi also saw that he was wearing a silver stud in his ears and what looked like an indentation on his forehead, evidence of some kind of childhood injury that didn't heal properly.
"Shir Goldendale and Lupu I presume?" he asked, a sweet calm male voice that made Lupu shiver with delight.
"Yes sir." Lupu replied, giving a slight awkward smile as shi let go of hir daughter, who regarded the large human with caution.
"And this must be Stonefur..." he said, bending down to pet hir, only too snatch his hand away as shi snapped at him. Teeth bared and tail twitching back and forth.
"STONEFUR!" Lupu growled, making the cub jump and whimper.
"I'm terribly sorry Dr Glazer, shi is still coming to terms with trusting humans, in light of our history, you must understand?" she said, picking the trembling growling cub up off the floor to calm hir.
"Quite alright, in fact, I know exactly what your family is going through." He replied, his smile disappearing into a look of sadness. Goldendale sensed the grief coming from him for a brief moment.
"How could you know? You haven't..." Lupu's retort was stopped by Goldendale placing hir hand on her shoulder, and she now felt what hir chakat denmate was feeling from the human, grief of a lost companion, no, of a denmate.
"Oh, I am terribly sorry, I understand fully. You lost someone dear to you?" she replied, in a softer tone of voice.
"Yes, hir name was Sunrise, shi died during that horrendous bombing of Amistad a few month's ago." He replied, fighting back tears.
Both Lupu and Goldendale gasp in shock and disbelief that this human lost a mate in an act caused by one of his own species. Stephan didn't object when both wolftaur and chakat consoled him with hugs. He was starting to feel a little better, when another smaller furry body joined in the hugfest. Looking down, he saw that Stonefur wasn't growling anymore, and was hugging his leg.
<Well, isn't this just cosy> replied a female voice in all of their heads.
They all looked at the arctic foxtaur standing in the doorway of the clinic, with hir arms crossed, holding a leash with a struggling chakamil cub on the end.
"Hello sweetie, I'm just getting a friendly condolence from my patients here, we seem to have a history of tragic losses." He replied, beckoning over his lifemate and cub.
They too joined the fray, and were soon joined by the other two cubs Nightsong and Littleroar.
Later, after they all disengaged from the hugfest, Stephan introduced them to his lifemate.
"Everybody, this is Illumanati, but may call hir Nati for short." Stephan replied, picking up his daughter and stroking hir fur. Shi in turn curled in his lap and began purring.
Lupu greeted hir with a hug which was followed by Goldendale, and then shi excused hirself before disappearing from sight.
Both Lupu and Goldendale started at this, but was not surprised. Turning to the dark skinned human, Goldendale asked the question.
"So shi's a teleport?"
"Yes, you seem not surprised by this, do you know of one yourself?" he asked, curious now. Stonefur was busy looking around the office, sniffing objects, touching a few shiny things and meeped when they moved or made a noise. Littleroar and Nightsong was curled together, having a nap.
"Yes." Goldendale replied, accepting the beef jerky that Stephan offered to the curious cub, who took it with a 'Thank you' and started suckling on it. "We're mated to one actually, hir name is Swiftwalk."
"Ahh Shir Swiftpaw, as Nati has affectionately nicknamed hir, shi pops in time to time for checks up, shi seems a private individual. But sweet and lovely to speak too." He said, noticing Nati popping in with a box of subscriptions before teleporting again.
"I didn't think that teleporters are so common." Lupu remarked, also accepting three pieces of beef jerky.
"Oh, they're not so rare as you might think, just very careful in revealing themselves. Nati is a very special case, along with hir teleport ability, shi has an uncanny ability to diagnose and heal any ailments that you might have. But it does come with cost. Shi gets fatigued rather quickly if used often."
Goldendale nodded at that comment.
"I can personally agree to that, tell me, does the sex suffer due to hir overusing hir abilities?"
"It does, as a matter of fact. Severely so. Experienced it have you?" Stephan asked, getting a chuckle from both Lupu and Goldendale.
The discussion turned to other subjects, like careers and den mate's.
"So, how did you become viable to bare cubs Stephan?" Lupu asked, nuzzling next to Goldendale.
"Well, Illumanati and I are both foster children by a lovely foxtaur family back on Terra, and when Nati was ready mentally to bare kits, and when shi came into hir first heat, I helped hir out. Then we sought out a lovely chakat doctor named Shir Springstep. Hir procedures were new, but it allowed couples to have children, even if they were of different species or incompatible for some reason."
"Weren't you interested in human females? Or having human children of your own?" Goldendale asked, remembering hir old life as a human, and having both relations between humans and furs, particularly Mary-Anne, the smart sexy vixen.
Stephan just shook his head and smiled.
"Actually no, for some strange reason, I felt comfortable being around furs. And having human children never entered my mind while I was living in the foxtaur village. Sure, it was awkward and difficult being the odd one out, but I just ignored the jeers and teasing. In fact, Illumanati was almost my soulmate when we grew up."
He smiled again when he saw hir reappear with more boxes, shi smiled back and said something to him telepathically, which made him blush.
Goldendale was looking at the photos on his desk, when one caught hir eye. It was a picture of young Stephan, no more than 19, a light blue furred chakat with striking red and orange streaks through hir fur and red ears. Shi was smiling with hir arms around his waist, and between them both, was a very young version of Illumanati. Dale guessed hir age to be around 11 or 12, judging from the small developing breasts. But it was the two kit morphs sitting in front, flanking a sexy teenage panda morph that caught hir attention. The panda shi didn't know, but the kits seem awfully familiar.
"Um Stephan, who are the kits in the photo?" shi asked, picking the picture to show him.
Stephan looked and smiled, the kind you give when your about to drop a huge surprise on someone, or you've score the best job.
"Oh, that's Saphire and her brother Kandine." He replied, watching with glee at Goldendale's expression as hir mouth dropped open in shock.
"WHAT?!" shi exclaimed, looking again at the picture.
"Here, let me." Stephan said, taking the photo out of the frame, and gently, almost lovingly turned it over. There was writing on the back.

Goldendale read then re-read the personal message, tears streaming down hir face. Stephan gently took the photo and handed it to Lupu, who gently took it and read the message. She looked up at Stephan with a puzzled look.
"Who's Saphire and Kandine? And what's this Foxette? A club of sorts?"
To answer Lupu's question, Stephan turned on his personal music device on his table, and selected one of the tunes from a list of many. When Lupu heard the melody begin to play, her expression changed and was just like Goldendale's.
"THAT FOXETTE?" she exclaimed, mouth open and eyes wide with wonder.
"So you knew the twins before they became famous?" Dale asked, cuddling up to Lupu, as she gently handed the photo back to Stephan, who returned it back into the frame.
"Yes, that was when I went for my doctorate degree. Ohh the times we had, both good and bad." He replied, rubbing his temple, particularly the indentation of his forehead.
Both Goldendale and Lupu nodded in agreement, as they also had their fair share of adventures, both good and bad. Stephan ceased his rubbing and smiled, then knelt down in front of Stonefur, and started his observation of the cub. Unlike before, Stonefur behaved hirself and let him touched and prodded, even so far as purr with happiness. Soon he was finished with hir, and went on to the other cubs. Once they were done, he proceeded to check up on the parents. Lupu was a little reluctant to have him touch her body, particularly her female parts, but he reassured her that there wasn't anything he hadn't seen, touched or pleasured before, which got a giggle from her mate. Blushing, she allowed him to touch and feel her breasts and stomach, then her flanks and tail. He listened to her heartbeat. She even blushed heavily when she murred at his touch of her femsex and tail hole. When he was finished, he washed and dried his hands and then called for Goldendale.
Goldendale's reaction to the physical examination was different to Lupu's, not only did Stephan explored and examined everything on hir that he did on Lupu, but he also cupped and checked hir sheath and cock. Although herm in body, Goldendale was still coming to terms with it in mind, but shi soon relaxed and thought of it as a simple male doctor check up.
Soon, all three cubs and the adults were suckling on lolly pops as they bid Stephan fair well, with a promise to catch up some time soon. Maybe for lunch or a picnic. Lupu and Goldendale gave Nati a quick hug and kiss when shi suddenly popped in as they were leaving, then they paid the bill and left.
<They seem a loving couple, what do you think hun?> Nati replied, as shi snuggled behind hir mate.
"Definitely love, and very interesting. I would love to meet this Goldfur and the rest of hir extended family. Who knows, maybe we won't feel like crazy family here." He chuckled, thinking of their members, a foxtaur, chakamil cub, foxtaur kit, human and a herm fox morph and hir kit.
Then both doctors went back to work, but not before saying a prayer to the picture of the rabbit morph behind the desk.
