Dream Escape

A deep blue sky, and a field of wildflowers as far as the eye can see. The horizon ponders to itself in the twilight. Stars are putting on a show: twinkling, dazzling, flying across the sky like there was no tomorrow, which could very well be true.

The dawn dove sings, and the sun comes to light the new day. A flower is picked up by the wind, high, it floats across the field. It makes its journey long and far; a mountain looms, red and cracked.

The cracks glow with an ethereal light, blood seems to flow just beneath the surface. As soon as it touches the parched ground, the flower wilts. A sound, once within existence, fades like a dying ember.

There are no stars above this sky, as the mountain has banished them long before you ever arrived.

The moon burns like a second sun, the stones speak in whispers, and a great feeling of dread hangs in the atmosphere.

Time stands still, no wind stirs the flowers, yet they don't seem to know it. A call, a howling crow warns of a coming threat from Mt Enbrell. The flowers shriek, and the mountain bleeds a shadow. Shadows come forth, shadows take shape: a beast covered in scales and bristling fur, four wings, two for flight, two wrapped around its body.

The endless field's in panic, nothing's steady, losing consciousness from sheer fear. Black as a moonless night, except the moon is searing in mountainous flames. In the back of your mind the beast wreaks havoc on the field, and the only thing you can think of is that lost flower.

Run, carry yourself to the mountain, but isn't this all a dream?

Just a dream,

a long,

lost

dream...
