Alex sat on the roof of his house thinking as Snow ran about giggling excitedly. "Come down from there you grumpy gus! What do you have to be so pouty about?"

Alex let out a sigh and glided down "There are just so many questions that come up with these new abilities. I can wager a guess that it's the chemicals that did this"

"Or we're really aliens that our parents left here and the powers just now activated!"

Alex just stared at his love for a moment "Have you been in the chocolate covered espresso beans again?"

The pink fox's eyes darted mischievously and he let out another giggle "Maaaaaybe."

"I put a lock on that cabinet after last ti-.... Oh right, you can lift a car. Breaking a lock's no problem." He sighed and smiled at the pink fox "I know you're excited but please take this seriously. We don't know if these powers are permanent or if they'll fade with time, or even if they might drain our life with time. Anything could happen with this..."

"...wow Lexi... Every party needs a pooper doesn't it?"

"Oh for Pete's sake will you just listen Matt!" he almost never used his love's real name, only bringing it up from time to time for a serious talk.

"No you listen Alex!" his face was uncharacteristically serious "If the powers are killing us then there's not much we can do about it. If they disappear then they disappear. The thing that matters most is that we use what we have while we have it. And I say we use it to do some good in the world."

The two foxes just stared at each other for a moment in silence till Alex slowly smiled "You've grown so much since we first met each other... I bet back then you'd have said we could use it to pick up boys or rob a toy store"

Snow gave a devious little smile and a giggle "I haven't ruled it out just yet."

"Oh hush" he smiled, ruffling his hair "So what's our next move?"

"Easy! Names and costumes! If we're going to fight crime, we need to play the part" the pink arctic fox bounced excitedly as he thought of all the possibilities.

"You really want to do this huh. Well looks like keeping your furry rump safe is going to be a full time job... Defending... Furry Defender. Has an interesting ring to the name."

Snow gave a chuckle and a smile "It is a cute name, I'll give you that... Now what should I be?" he sat and thought for a moment. Alex wasn't doing much to help by suggesting a few gag names like Pinky, Uke Boy, and Stripper Lad.

The arctic fox smirked and looked at his fur "well... I am pink, no changing that. Not much I can do to hide it either so.... Pink Mist!"

"Why mist? That has nothing to do with your powers"

"Oh hush you. There aren't too many ways Pink can sound dignified." Alex had to conceive the argument there. The couple continued to talk excitedly about what this would mean for both of them, not knowing what was going on across town.

Spike had decided to test his powers in a practical way. He wanted to start small but still wanted something that would benefit him. Money was always nice but a bank seemed too big right now. He turned a corner and started to hear music. He looked up, just now realizing how familiar the street was and followed the sounds. A devious smile slowly creased his face when he saw the High Tails club. Get some money, beat up some fags, maybe grab some booze if they have more than the sissy stuff, and all I have to fight my way past is one prissy horse and maybe a few bouncers inside. Easy money and a fun night. He licked his lips, feeling the spikes poke through his skin.

Alex and Snow talked all through the night about what they would do. Of course the costumes were the biggest problem in Snow's opinion.

"I don't see why you're making such a big deal over the outfit"

Snow just stared at Alex "how long have you known me and you're asking that?"

"Point taken. All I mean is that most heroes in the stories wear the costumes and have secret identities to protect their loved ones. And with us fighting along side each other, we don't need to think about it as much."

Snow started to pout and Alex tried not to look "Oh no. Not the face! You know I can't resist that face..." He let out a sigh but still smiled, "Just stop right now. Fine, you win. We'll find something to wear but not right this second. Ok?" the red fox yawned a little and stretched "I think I need some coffee." He walked into the kitchen and called over his shoulder to Snow, "you want a cup?"

"Nah, I'm good... but" he smiled and hugged Alex from behind "It is still our anniversary. And you know my favorite way to end a date night"

Alex let out another sigh and smiled "You are so predictable sweetie." His ears perked when he felt something growing against his leg "And easily excitable, or is that a roll of quarters I'm feeling?"

"Is it ever?" Snow giggled and started to nibble his lover's ear, making him forget about the coffee.

"Oh baby..." Alex moaned softly and nuzzled back against him, accidently turning on the small TV that sat on the counter. Niether of the boys paid any attention to the news report on the screen until Alex saw a very familiar building "Baby, stop! Look!" both foxes froze to hear what was going on.

A panther reporter spoke "Gary I'm here at the scene of the attack. Moments ago, this alternative life style club was attacked and robbed by one Fennec fox. Onlookers identified the assailant as Jessie 'Spike' Irons, a person with a well known hatred of the gay community as a whole. Irons' has a small criminal record for muggings and general vandalism, but nothing on this big a scale.

The baffling thing however was the weapon used. Police and onlookers alike are not sure what to make of it. A member of club security was quoted as saying "He had some kind of throwing weapons. They almost seemed to grow out of their skin." Early police reports can only confirm that the projectiles were of an organic nature. No more is known so far. No individuals were killed but there are reports of massive property damage, several security persons and one bar tender hospitalized and several others with lesser injuries. Police report that all the funds from the bar had been stolen, as well as several bottles of vodka. People are advised to stay clear of the perpetrator if sighted and to presume him armed and dangerous. This has been James Barret reporting."

Snow and Alex sat in silence for a moment, then slowly turned to each other.
