=============

Myra was still arguing with her parents when Michael came back. Michael put the bag of books down and took them out, making sure he had the right ones. Myra's parents were watching and Michael made sure they got a good look at the titles. He sat next to Myra and started reading about the planet. Myra and her parents continued to argue, with her father finally walking out on Myra and her mother, who decided to give blessing. Myra sighed and looked at her mother, "Could you try to convince him mother?"

"I shall do my best."

Suddenly, Michael dropped the book and collapsed to the floor, convulsing. Myra rushed to her mates side and watched as Michael fell unconscious.

Michael was rushed to hospital with Myra holding his hand the whole way. The doctors wired him up and scanned him. He was left with Myra on a heart monitor, after the small issue of locating a human heart. Dragons had 2 hearts, one only becoming more active when they started to fly. After a while, the doctors had to take Myra out while they made sure he was stable.

Myra paced back and forth in front of the door, protecting her mate and worrying at the same time. Myra's mother was sitting in a seat opposite the door. Myra's father walked up to his mate and sat next to her. He leant to her and asked "What has the doctor said?"

"We don't know yet." Myra's mother whispered to her mate "You should talk to Myra. She is very upset with you."

"Not if she insists on marrying a human" Her father hissed. Myra shot a glare at her father and carried on pacing. A doctor approached Myra, who looked at him. "Myra Vylkair?"

"Yes?"

"I'm afraid its bad news. Michael is suffering from one of the side effects of the shifting and language armbands. His organs are failing as they couldn't take the strain of having such devices to alter him. His heart is weakened, and we can't even find the second one."

"Michael only has one heart."

"That was our conclusion, but the fact remains. Michael has 2-3 days to live before his body dies."

Myra burst into tears. They would never be able to have a mateship ceremony in only 3 days. Her parents watched a strong dragoness break down on a doctors shoulder. At that moment, Myra's father realised that Myra cared about Michael and would be with him until his final hour. She loved him very much and the least he could do was give his approval. The doctor said to Myra that she could see Michael now, so she went in the moment Myra's father got up to express his approval.

Michaels heart monitor was in the corner, sending real time information to the wards front desk. Only visitors and medical staff were allowed in. His eyes fluttered open as he woke up from a nap. Myra was looking at him with a warm glow in her eyes. "Hey Michael. You scared us back there."

Michael chuckled "What did the doctor say?"

Myra looked down and Michael saw a tear drop running down her scaly cheek. "Michael. Your body is dying."

Myra burst into tears and Michael pulled her in close to hold her. While she sobbed into his shoulder, Michaels mind was racing ahead, thinking of possible ways to remedy the situation. "Its not your fault." He tried, almost knowing the outcome immediately.

"Yes it is!" She wailed "Your body wasn't meant to have our armbands on. If I hadn't have let you stayed with us on the ship-"

"Then I would be dead anyway!" Michael interrupted, "I was ready to take my own life Myra. What you have shown me has made my life worth something to me." He thought for a few more moments, "Get Klaedr or someone from the council in here as fast as poss-"

Michael was interrupted by a knock on the door. Myra opened it and saw Klaedr. She had heard and wanted to visit. Myra let in the blue dragon, who ran up to Michael and hugged him. "I came as soon as I heard." She stated. Myra snorted and walked up to Klaedr, "Don't try it. We are mated."

Michael coughed, "This isn't the time to be fighting over me. If this problem isn't solved, there won't be anything to fight over. Myra, could you leave me and Klaedr alone for a minute?"

Myra nodded and left, hissing at Klaedr as she went past. Myra closed the door behind her and sat next to her mother, "I don't know what to do."

Myra's mother held her hatchling close, "It's hard, but you must make the most of it."

Myra's father watched his crying daughter, "Myra. If it makes you feel any better, I will approve your mateship."

Myra looked at her father with tear filled eyes, "You would approve my mateship to a dying human, but not a healthy one?"

Myra's father realised what she meant and knew he was in the wrong. He edged back slightly to put as much distance between him and Myra.

Myra hissed and was interrupted by Michael and Klaedr running off down the hall. Myra stood up and chased after them.
