Disclaimer: This is a non-yiff story, it is also the first story I will submit. Some will most definitely be yiff in fact I'm working on a slave story right now but others will not. Any tips will be appreciated, it is non-edited and if anyone would like to proof read any of my future work it will be much appreciated.

Cheers!

"Time to go to bed Kate." Said the mother lion as she walked into her daughters room, she looked around and squinted not really sure where her daughter was. "Kate?" a little lion cub popped up

" Awh mommmm Please? One more minute." She looked up at her mother with big blue pleading eyes as she pressed her beige paws together. "No Kate, you said that an hour ago." The older female lioness with fur much like her cubs stood in her door way a hand on her hip and a very firm look in her own light blue eyes.

"Hmph! Fine" she said with an over exaggerated groan of displeasure, after all she was almost seven now, not five. "Go brush your teeth and wash your face, I'll come tuck you in when you're done." She said softly as her tail flicked side to side and a smile was on her face, she was quite proud of how her daughter was starting to turn out, she was polite for the most part and kept herself very well groomed. The lioness looked back at the room and frowned, she DID need to work on her cleanliness but she'd work on that as she grew up.

A few minutes later the cub was in her pajamas all ready to go to bed, the mother padded over and sat beside her kissing her on her forehead " Good night Kate." She said getting up and walking towards the door. "Mom! Wait!" cried the little cub holding on tightly to her teddy bear.

"Yes dear?" replied the mother a smile on her muzzle.

"Can you tell me a bed time story?" she said looking down and feeling rather sheepish about asking for such a thing. Her mother on the other hand seemed delighted to read to her cub. She walked over to her little book shelf and began running a paw over the spines of fairy tales. " Which on will it be tonight Kate?"

"Can It be a new one?" the little cub asked politely. The lioness tilted her head to the side "What do you mean?"

"Like... Can you make it up?" She gazed at her mother, her little paws playing with her teddy bears ears.

"Well of course I can sweetie." She said moving from the shelf to her bed, one she was at the edge of it she gazed at her cub and thought. "Okay.. I suppose I should start... Huh?"

The cub nodded eagerly, now in an extremely comfortable position her teddy bear snuggling next to her.

"Okay..."

Once upon a time in a land far away, there lived a princess, she was the most important princess of all because her father was the king of peace. Now, this princess was not the smartest of people. So, when her father asked her to go get some special herbs for the wizard. He told her that a knight would go into the enchanted forest to help her recover the herb but she was so eager to help her father that without thinking she ran deep into the forest, in the area that not many go, for there was a very large, very angry red fire dragon.

"Oh no." said the young cub looking up at her mother, her eyes filled with worry for this new princesses life.

When the king found out he became very angry and ordered his men deep into those woods to recover the princess, but because it was so dangerous, none of them would dare venture into this woods and so thing King began to cry in fear that he would never see his daughter again. Now, it just so happens that a ranger was riding his horse through the town in search of some bread. He went to the baker and asked "Might you have some bread for me to buy?"

The baker said "No, I cannot sell you the bread for our king has given up hope and so have us."

The ranger being the smart man that he was thanked the baker and began to ride towards the castle. On the way he noticed that no one was doing their job, the merchants weren't selling goods, the blacksmith not repairing armor and bard was not singing.

"Oh no!" cried Kate looking back at her mother "It gets better doesn't it?" she asked with hope in her eyes. The mother laughed at her and gave her paw a reassuring squeeze "you'll see."

When the ranger reached the king, he saw that he was crying. "Why are you crying?" he asked as he bowed before the king, after all he wasn't royalty. "I'm sad." Replied the king "My daughter has been lost to the enchanted woods, which is where the dragon of fire is and my knights will not go and retrieve her."

The ranger nodded solemnly "I will go and retrieve your daughter in exchange for some supplies."

The king nodded "I will give you your reward if my daughter is safe."

With that the ranger was off to the forest to save the princess, his horse was as fast as lightening, he had got it from a man in the desert and it was said that this horse could grant wishes. As he approached the dark part of the forest, he realized he didn't know where to find the dragon of fire. As he and his horse wandered around, he noticed that a very strange gray mist seemed to cloud the area, the trees looked black as night and were void of leaves. It seemed as the entire forest was dead.

The lioness looked down to see her cub fast asleep, holding onto her teddy and breathing deeply. She smiled softly and ran a paw through the little cubs light brown hair before kissing her cheek "To be continued." She whispered, and with that she walked out of the room and closed the door, quietly to make sure that she didn't wake her.
