It's not like Miara would understand the magnitude of her actions, or even see how something so simple could cause the world around her family to come tumbling down before her very eyes. It was as if a hurricane had swept through her life and threw everything into shambles, yet we all know that a rainbow comes after a storm or so they say. She merely had to wait for that rainbow to come.

A dull pain in Miara's side caused her to wince slightly, her hand rose up to grasp where the slow throbbing ache had started, "At least I'm not bleeding..." She uttered out, lifting her head up somewhat before flinching and holding still for a moment to gather her mind together. Letting a slow calming breath leave her as she forced herself to open her eyes, surveying her surroundings she saw that she was at the bottom of a small cliff. The edge of the forest was right before her eyes, a sudden pang in her memory gave her a jolt. Most of her village had been slaughtered, her family...gone. Biting her lip to keep the tears at bay, everything in her mind was foggy and dim; it was like she was looking through a sheet. Perhaps it was her brain's way of keeping her sanity in check. Very carefully Miara moved to push herself up, turning her head upwards to look at the cliff she must have jumped from, that's when she saw a pair of eyes staring down at her and then a low growl came. Fear shot through her system, staggering back before turning around and running into the thick brush. As if she hadn't gone through enough today, now she was stumbling her way through a forest more than likely being chased by some hungry wolf or something. Her vision was burry, tears had begun to fall from her eyes, gasping as she continued to push herself to keep going or she would die. The pain in her side had numbed, but the burning of her leg muscles had taken the center stage in her mind. Hopping over a fallen tree she dared look back over her shoulder, there was silence. Not even a rustle of leaves in the trees, just her panting breath. Listening for anything, she didn't trust the silence so she turned and continued onward.

Glad that she hadn't let her body crumple down and rest, it wasn't even a moment after that she heard snarling behind her. Whatever that thing was it was still after her. Every step made her body quake with agony, she didn't think she could make it, but it's not like she had anywhere to run to. Anyplace but here would suit her just fine though, getting whipped and slapped in the face from the branches that she didn't push out of the way in time didn't hurt as much as her legs. She had pushed herself to her limits and it didn't look like it would be enough to save her. Wiping tears from her eyes in frustration as she cursed to herself under her breath. If only she had been born a strong boy rather than a fragile girl, why was life so unfair? Choking back sobs that caught in her throat she managed to find a small clearing, staggering forward as her body screamed for her to halt and rest. Falling to her knees, trembling as more tears rolled down her face, why was all of this happening to her, what had she done to deserve this. To die like this, she had wanted to do something with her life, anything that would have made her stand out from the crowd. The last thing she heard before she blacked out was growling followed by a yelp of pain, but the yelp didn't come from her mouth or so she thought.

There was nothing, not even dreams, not even nightmares, just empty blackness that ate at the soul. Miara must be dead, cursed to be swallowed up by the nothing. Or perhaps this was a dream, a dream of nothing. The emptiness was soothing in a way, no more pain to worry about; maybe if she went to heaven she could see her family again. There was a faint light that washed everything in a strange cream color, and then there came warmth from all around. A sudden sharp pain that could have made a man drop to his knees brought everything back to reality; Miara cupped her hand over her mouth as she gagged. Her eyes danced about, somehow she wasn't dead, she was lain out on a bed in a small room, alive and it looked like she was in one whole piece even. Turning her face away from the window, the light made her even more nauseous, her head was pounding and everything felt as though she was being burned alive. Every move that she made caused her muscles to cry out in agony, even breathing was straining. She just wanted to curl up into a ball and make all the pain go away, silent tears leaked down her cheeks as she just lay there breathing as slowly as she could. Fluttering her eyes shut she finally relaxed enough to fall into slumber.

At long last Miara was stirred awake from the need to use the restroom; even though everything still hurt she forced herself up and slowly made her way out of the little room she had been shut in. She hadn't even thought of who had saved her life, or why she was in this house. Easing down the hallway she kept one hand touching the wall, searching for the bathroom should be easy enough. Peeking in a door she found there was another bedroom like the one she had been in, but there was someone sleeping in the bed. Shutting the door she tried the next one she found. A weak little smile came to her face when she saw that it was the room she wanted. Tending to her business and cleaning herself up with what little energy she had she took a moment to look at herself in the mirror. Touching her face as her tired blue eyes stared at her reflection, brushing some of her horribly messy brown hair from her eyes, she wasn't as pretty as she remembered herself being. Then again she had run for her life and gone through quite a lot, she didn't even know what day it was or how long she had been asleep. Stretching her cheek a little before yawning, her ears gave a little twitch as she looked down at herself. She wasn't wearing what she was before; it looked like she hadn't had a bath in ages.

Grumbling quietly she dug around in the bathroom to find a brush, towel, and soap. She didn't care if she was in the middle of the night or that she was dead tired still. Stripping out of the nightgown and panties she had been put in she began to brush out her hair and her white matted up fur. Checking over her work in the mirror she then moved to draw her bath, dipping her fingers into the flowing water to check if it was warm enough she plugged the drain and let the tub start to fill up. Folding the toilet seat down she sat and waited, a warm ripple ran through her as she bit her lip. Why did she feel so strange...? Picking up the towel just as the door opened, staring a moment at the man that had so rudely entered without knocking. He looked dumbfounded to be honest, as if he wasn't expecting her to be there, "Get out!" Miara screamed as she had instinctively covered herself with the towel, "I'm sorry!!" He yelped and back peddled out of the room before shutting the door. Her heart was racing as she clutched the towel to her chest, the sound of the running water snapped her out of the shock she just had, getting up and turning off the water she slowly eased toward the door after wrapping the cloth around herself and making sure it covered everything. Peeking out into the hall as she slowly opened the door just a tiny bit, spying him leaning against the opposite wall with his head lowered, "Who are you?" Miara asked in a soft tone, "Are you the one that brought me here? What happened in the clearing? The last thing I remember was that I was about to be eaten." Her blue eyes stared at him waiting for answers, "My name is Damian. Yes, I am the one that saved you; we can wait until morning for me to explain what happened in the clearing." He murmured softly and lifted his head to lock his steel gray eyes with hers, "And what is your name?" She felt the edge she had soften somewhat, he had such handsome eyes, "Miara." She said with a faint smile tugging at her lips.
