Skin Deep, chapter 2
Ok, this is my first story (second chapter). So bear with me if its not the best written, and please Critique.!! Depending on the response I get, I may or may not continue so feel free to pm me on your thoughts, I want to hear them, or just post a comment. Enjoy!! Hey! Enjoy chapter 2, it's a little late and not as long as I wanted. I was going to include a yiff scene at the end, but have decided to wait until the next chapter or just skip it. Let me know what you'd prefer! I've had a busy life of late so I apologize on being a week late. Skin Deep Chapter 2. "Good morning love" Toki said jubilantly. Stretching his back, and pulling his arm out from around Narr's waist. "Hm.. I don't want to get out of bed, stay here with me today?" Narr spoke with a small, cueing voice. "You know I want to stay, but we still got to eat," Toki replied, now in a sitting posture on the small bed. leaning down he kissed his mate. "a few more minutes perhaps.." Narr closed her eyes, taking in the sensation as she kissed back, her whimpers alluding to her want for more. Narr drew her mate in closer to her. "I love you Toki" she managed to say between breaths. "I love you too Narr" Toki said it not out of repetition but from his heart. The love Toki felt for his mate was all encompassing, his life was devoted to her happiness and their love. He didn't care what his hardships were, as long as Narr was blissfully unaware of his plight. She would remain untouched by the cruel world they resided in, never again would Toki allow her to be hurt. Toki ripped himself from the dark thoughts of the past and buried his muzzle in his mate's neck. "I won't ever let you go, I will keep you safe forever" Tears began to form in Toki's eyes, silently tracing paths down his cheeks, and soaking the fur there. Toki could still remember the all too vividly the night five months before when they had met. Every time he thought of it, feelings of regret, pain and sorrow, extreme hardship and anger, all of them surfaced. Toki wanted nothing more than to get his mate and himself off world. "You ok love?" Narr's eyes shown with genuine concern, looking at her mate's face, a mixture of emotions playing across its surface. Her ears were down and she knew what he was thinking. "Yes I'm fine.. I was just recalling that horrible night and all that happened afterward" Toki was about to burst into tears, feelings of remorse and extreme pain winning out. Narr sat up, looking into Toki's eyes and again being reminded of all that had occurred, 5 months earlier. Memories flooding her conscience she remembered. It had taken her over a month to heal; internal bleeding, and organ failure from loss of blood were just two things on a very long list that she had went through on her path to recovery. She remembered when she awoke in a hospital bed, a week after the incident, a grey wolf with black paws and brilliantly blue piercing eyes staring at her. The wolf had clearly been through hell, his fur was matted and in disarray. He had been crying, and it had taken her a second to recognize him. "thank you" she had said. Toki stared back with such intensity, the love he shared for his mate was ultimate, and he expressed it in mind, body and soul. Nothing was more important than his love for Narr, Everything else in the world was meaningless compared to her, and his love. Then pulling himself back to the world, his eyes refocusing on his mate, Toki's expression changed to that of happiness. "What would you like for breakfast?" Toki could not bring himself to dwell on the past anymore and he wanted his mate to not think about it either, nothing like that would ever happen again.. "Yes lets get breakfast, how about eggs?" Living on New Tibet meant that such delicacies were expensive, but Toki had a budget for such things, and so every once in awhile they could afford it. "Ok, would you like bread with it as well?" Toki thought might as well go all out if they were going to have eggs. "No, we'll save that for tomorrow" Narr knew that Toki was saving every credit they had to get them off-world. She understood that they would have to live a very basic life style for a few more months before he finally had all of it. She counted it as a blessing that his job paid well enough to give them the opportunity. Then sliding off the bed, Narr fell into Toki's strong embrace. "Shhh..." Toki held his mate, her warmth spreading to his entire body and kissing her gently on the head, cueing softly Toki rubbed her back with one paw. "Just a bit longer," Toki said. He had watched as her gaze had drifted to the window, to the sky. She had been imagining when they would leave this planet. Narr broke the embrace a few moments later, giving her husband one last kiss before turning toward the kitchen, his paw in hers. Walking to the kitchen, there apartment wasn't much, a single bedroom, single bath, a kitchen and small living space was it. Toki had pulled some strings to get them here, the apartment was only a block from the shuttle station and therefore was better protected than most of the city from the powerful gangs. It was small but well kept, and in relatively good condition. "I have to be at work in twenty-five minutes, lets be quick!" Toki hadn't realized just how much time they had spent holding one another in the bedroom. "oh my gosh! 7:30 already?" "yea" "ok, I will get the dishes, you get the supplies" "on it" said Toki. All memories of the past now a distant thought. The next 10 minutes was spent cooking breakfast, followed by Toki woofing down his portion in just a minute. Toki slipped on his thermal gear, it was only 5 degrees outside, the usual temperature for a winter day. "remember to lock up after me, and keep a close eye out for anything suspicious. You have my radio code right?" Toki was still paranoid about the gang finding out about his mate. They didn't venture to this part of the city, but if they ever found out, that would give them power over him. "YES.. I will never forget it. Its 17.232.0998 got it. I will keep a close watch on things" A little annoyed by Toki's pestering, and making sure she would be ready, should anything happen. Toki's ears drooped a bit, and his expression a little saddened by her tone. "I don't want anything to happen to you that's all, I hate having to have to leave you everyday." Narr felt ashamed for her harsh tone, "I'm sorry... I know you just want me to be safe." Then she kissed her mate passionately, pulling him into the embrace and slipping her tongue into his maw, entwining it with his. She whimpered a bit, her ears drawn back Toki knew she was just tired of being cooped up inside. After all she hadn't left the house for weeks because some of the Vishens had been snooping around in this sector for someone. Then falling into her embrace, he kissed back, exploring her mouth and forgetting all his worries for a short time. Wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her right up against him, Toki continued their kiss for a few more moments before hearing the transport pull up outside. Narr broke away when she heard the transport, he couldn't miss it, because then he'd be late and well.. Working with a gang meant such things brought harsh punishment. "see you tonight!" "bye!!" Toki flew out the door, closing it rapidly behind him. Work was the usual. Although today it seemed to drag on and not want to end. Toki reminded himself that tonight was their 1 month anniversary of being mated for life. He smiled to himself, knowing that Narr would have something special planned for him tonight. Work was almost over when he was called to report to the spec-ops station in the main building. Walking to the huge grey steel building, he waited to get through the check-point and then continued his way to the 5th floor. He hated being called here and it always resulted in some really drawn out plan to kill someone on the Vishen's priority list. He wrung the buzzer, standing in the main entrance. "Come in.." came a deep throaty voice that Toki knew too well. He entered... "Ah yes, Mr. Wolfe please do come in." Toki entered, he had been waiting with the door half open waiting for a response. "What can I do for you?" Toki was standing in an open space, about 6 bears were there, the one speaking being Karrg. A shiver ran down his spine, remembering the picture in Karrg's office of a wolf being torn limb from limb. Toki felt small and miniscule in their presence, he was big for a wolf, but compared to the bulk of a bear, he might have well been a pup. "You can start by explaining to me why your last assignment took you so long to complete." Toki gulped, he had stalled on it as much as possible, hoping the creature would get away. "Um... The sequencing matrix you gave me was faulty. I had to repair it before I could synthesize the rubber you needed. You know, the compound I added to the synthetic rubber was extremely volatile until bonded to the synthetic rubber. I had to be careful and precise in my actions. Also, the sheer bulk of 12 tires being rigged to blow with a radio signal carrier wave was tricky. It took me sometime to get the frequency correct." Toki hoped it was convincing enough, he had heard that the panther had gotten away, and that they were still tracking him down.. Slowly, Toki's thoughts returned to his mate, and the day that they would escape this world. Their plan was so fragile, there false names, obscured pictures, and some bribes had kept them away from being noticed on the shuttle roster. Toki knew that the Vishens kept a close eye on who was going off-world, so far they weren't on the list, a bribe was made so that their purchase wouldn't show up until just 3 weeks before the shuttle launch. Only one week from the cut-off date. Toki had planned this to the last detail, he had alternate scenarios, and what if plans incase anything happened. With his strenuous attention to detail, Toki hoped nothing unplanned would happen. He could never forgive himself if Narr was hurt, his existence would be gone, his being would slip away to nothingness. "Wolfe!! Did you hear me? I said that you'll be starting another project tomorrow. All the information is on the file" Karrg slid a yellow folder to him. "You are going to be designing an explosive that can be remote detonated. It will have specified dimensions and must be undetectable by conventional equipment." Toki knew he had six pairs of eyes trained on his back. "Yes of course, my I ask who is the target?" His morality telling him that what he did was wrong. Once again someone will die because of him, not that they wouldn't die anyway, just that his way was usually quick and painless, instead of drawn out by torture which was so common among Vishens to do for fun. Toki consoled himself on that small fact and thought about who it might be. Some targets were as bad as the Vishens, those he didn't mind being part of the assassination plot, for he was removing another bad fur off this world. But then more often than not, it was just a normal person, who falling on hard times, took a loan from the Vishens and couldn't pay it back fast enough. Toki pittied them, he would cry for hours when Narr was asleep, trying his best to regain his composure and not lose it. He couldn't do this much longer, it was eating away at him bit by bit. "The target is an enforcer, he has been snooping about our compound and might have found something, a body that could lead to a recent murder. He must be disposed of..." Karrg almost spat out the last few words, his anger barely concealed. "How long do I have?" "10 work hours" "ok, it will be done by tomorrow evening then" Toki hated when he had such a tight schedule, it made him feel uncomfortable. Plus, the more bombs he pumped out, the more furs that were killed. Toki picked up the folder and left the building. Heading to his workshop and placing the assignment there, he turned to leave the office. "YIKES!!" Toki was instantly seized in the huge paws of an enormous bear. His eyes staring menacingly at Toki with hatred and furry burning in them. "YOU" Toki gulped, trying to breath, but could not. "We need to make sure one thing is clear..." the bear tightened his grip around Toki's neck and lifted him off the floor. "STOP SQUIRMING!!" Toki began gulping, trying to gasp for air, pulling desperately at the bear's steel grip. Finally finding purchase he pulled with all his strength and ripped out of the bears grasp. Falling to the floor with a thud, Toki gasped, taking hug breaths while trying to stand. The bear stood over him, waiting for Toki to regain his composure. "You've been distracted." Toki tried to find an excuse, but couldn't. "I.. um.. *cough I've had little sleep..." The bear took a step forward, extending his paw to just within inches to Toki's neck. "We know all too well about your little play toy. I hope she isn't distracting you? Because if she is we might have to.... Dispose of her.." Toki was astonished, all his careful precautions shattered. They knew about Narr!! "How did you know?" Toki hid his fear and astonishment, showing nothing but a straight face. "We never knew you had a mate until last week, when one of the few wolves that the Vishens employ smelled her scent on your lunch. He had brought it up nonchalantly, by chance really, when one of the bears spoke of stealing your lunch. He said that it was made by a female wolf. Karrg was there and knew what it might mean. So he sent out a team to check out your apartment. We found her sleeping and didn't harm her. We then left the apartment." The bear, Ivan was his name, seemed to struggle with the sentence about not hurting her, he clearly had wanted to either kill her, or hurt her. "IF YOU EVER TOUCH HER, I WILL KILL YOU!!" Toki roared as he said it, He could have been heard two blocks away. "oh and how would you do that? Don't forget little wolf that we can kill her any time we want, there is nothing you could do to save her. Just remember that if you start slacking in your work again, well... Lets just say your mate might no longer be white furred, we'll die it a nice red" Ivan said it in such a smooth deep voice, completely in control of his emotions, he wanted Toki to fear him, and Toki did. Not for his life but Narr's. "I will pick up my pace Ivan, and do my work more thoroughly.." Toki was defeated "Good.. Now if you try running away.. lets say that we'll have a session with her, your little wolf will be much fun to play with.." Ivan Chuckled menacingly. "Have a nice night Mr. Wolfie" Toki left the compound and headed for home, keeping his composure until he was out of eye-sight of the Vishen compound. Once he was around the corner and he was no longer visible to the guards his shoulders slumped, his ears lie flat against his head, senses dulled, and Toki's mind numb to any feelings but despair and sadness. Toki was drained, he had not a flicker of a fighting spirit left in his body. He felt utterly defeated. The extent of what the bear had just told him made his plan much harder. If he so much as stepped a foot out of line now, Narr would be killed, or worse... Then he remembered he planned for this and recalled what he must do. Hope welling up in his chest and giving him new energy, Toki surged forward, deciding on walking to his apartment to clear his mind. After all the transport wouldn't arrive for 25 minutes and he could be home in 20. Toki walked in the front door of his apartment. Locking the door behind him, Toki looked into the kitchen. Narr.... There she was in all her beauty, standing over the stove cooking... STEAK?? How could she afford that? Toki bounded up the remaining steps and made his presence known. Looking at the one he loved Toki was entranced by her. Her silken white silver fur flowing endlessly around her, not a single bur or knot, her emerald eyes, so full of life and innocence. Narr's delicate frame, thin and lithe, she was the only thing that separated the grey of his world into vibrant colors. She was his joy, his happiness, his love... and his mate for life... Toki sighed, looking at her and taking in all of her form. "Hello love." Narr stared back, seeing the love and joy on her mates face, she lit up. "I'm so glad your home, what do you think of the dinner choice?" Narr had set down the pot and walked the few steps to her mate and embraced him. Kissing him on the lips quickly, and licking his muzzle affectionately. She buried her maw into his fur for a second, taking in his scent. "How..?" was all Toki said, returning the kiss and giving his mate a loving lick across her nose. "I saved up whatever was left of each week's budget for food." Toki was amazed, she was so thoughtful and creative. "You're amazing you know that? And it smells delicious, can I help with anything?" Toki gave her an appreciative smile and his posture changed, showing just how proud he was of his mate. "I'm not that special, but I love to impress you and I wanted to do something really amazing for our 1 month anniversary" Narr turned to check on the food, checking the steak, simmering on the stove. Toki thought back to their wedding day, reveling in the memories of that night and the significance of what was said. He would never forget that, and his love would be everlasting. Yes, there bodies will eventually fade away but his love shall remain as strong as it was the day they were mated for life. "Love, is it almost ready?" "Just about hun, the steak is medium rare right now.. Sound good? Or do you want it more cooked" Narr asked her mate as she turned to look at him. "Sounds good to me! But what about your half? Would you like it that rare?" Toki wanted this not to be about him too much, he wanted his mate to enjoy the steak as much as he would. "Nope, this is good for me, I like my meat raw," She winked at Toki, giving him a devilish smile and indicating that she wanted to get intimate. Toki smiled back, a grin forming on his muzzle, "Are you sure? That's an awful lot of red meat for one night!" Toki grabbed the left over bread and butter from the morning and placed it on the table as a side. While doing so Narr had divided the steak and dished it out. Narr just grinned, she wasn't in heat but she had been without his touch for over a week due to his sheer exhaustion from work. But today he was just brimming with energy, his scent indicating he was aroused, her own scent changed that to a need to be breed. Shivers were forming in her body, running the length of her and exiting through her tail. Getting more comfortable she took off her cooking gloves and shirt, then looking at her mate with pleading eyes she sat down at the small kitchen table. Toki was beaming, her scent wafting his way and filling his nostrils with the intoxicating scent. His brain was becoming foggy, a stupid grin on his face; he woke out of his stupor, "Looks great honey!" Giving her a quick kiss on the lips, "Lets eat quickly" Narr returned his kiss passionately, reaching out, her tongue entwined with his for a second, before letting go and after a quick affectionate nudge she set to work eating the steak. Her razor sharp canine teeth ripping through the meat, she was going into her heated state. The want to be breed increasing with every second, her heart-rate quickened. She snuck a look at her mate, locking gazes, they stared at one another for a few seconds, passing the inaudible thoughts of what was to come next in rapid succession. Toki could feel himself beginning to get hard, ah damn... Swallowing the last morsel of steak, Toki stood, his mate working on the last few bites. He took his plate and set it in the kitchen, about to clean up he decided to leave it for later. Strolling back to the table a few feet away Toki walked behind his mate, and reaching around the chair gave her a hug. Then began licking her neck, shoulders, and ruffs uncontrollably, murring softly. He waited patiently though until she had eaten the last bite, about 45 seconds after he began giving her a bath with his tongue. Then he had her, she was ready and so was he. Bunching his muscles, Toki lifted his mate right out of the chair, the cords of muscle rippling under his fur as he lifted her weight and pulled her into his arms. "Ready love?" Toki looked down into the emerald spheres of his mate's eyes, and all the warmth, compassion and love that was held there. He awaited her response.. Narr's body was completely ready, she had reached her heated state and looking up she nodded pleadingly at his chivalry. "I'm ready..." With those Powerful words Toki whisked them away to their bedroom. The bed taking up over 2/3 of the room, it was one luxury he had felt inclined to get. setting her down, he stripped his own clothes, Narr doing the same. Then, taking a look out the window and closing the blinds, Toki embraced his mate, pulling her down to the bed...
