#2 of Schyyrtzi Takeover!

"What are you still doing here?! They're getting back up!" I shouted at Ken. The fool was hesitating, even when I warned him not to. I was beginning to wonder if he could follow simple instructions, until he took off and ran out of the alley.

Finally!

Now I was alone with these maggots. All alone... in a dark alley...away from prying eyes. A smile graced my lips. It was just too perfect! They set themselves up for annihilation! Of course, they didn't know of the impending demise before they attacked me, but you can never be too careful. Ignorance will cost them dearly.

I released the thug below me, and purposely backed myself at the end the alley. Crossing my arms I lounged against the rough brick wall, observing the thugs get up one by one. They showed the typical signs of human disorientation: dizziness upon standing, groaning in pain, holding their heads, stumbling for a little balance. I could have ended them there, but what would be the fun in that? It's much more entertaining to toy with your prey first.

That one thug from earlier, the one who...coerced my roommate and I into the alley, got up first. He's persistent I'll give him that. I'll enjoy crushing that.

"I'm gonna kill you! You little fu-"

He didn't get the rest out before a rock the size of his fist met with his forehead. I know I said I don't have aim to at least 100 people regarding the basketball thing...

So I lied, sue me.

"Now, now... watch your language. You wouldn't want the children to repeat those words, do ya?"

"Childr- man, there is no one here but us!" he snapped, rubbing the wound.

"That right?"

"Yeah! And no one is gonna hear you scream when I rip out every limb on your body!"

"My sentiments exactly."

"What are you-"

SPLURTCH!!

It felt great watching that look of confusion quickly turn into a wondrous blend of terror, shock, and anguish. The face was so expressive... I relished it a few more moments before finally freeing the tendril that had completely speared the thug's chest. The blood had spattered along the wall I wall leaning on, me, and a few of his friends. The body collapsed on the floor with a thud, eyes wide open with that look still on his face.

I should've taken a picture.

Maybe five, because his friends each had a face of terror upon watching their friend perish right in front of them. Thoroughly amused, I made the one bladed tendril hover around my head, making the sharp end caress my face every now and then, watching their reaction. By now some had begun to back up, and I think one of them was sputtering nonsense, but none had decided to make a break for it. I guess they couldn't get their bodies to move... pitiful creatures. But that just made this that much easier.

Grinning as evilly as I could, I shot a glance to my next victim. The moment my eyes met his he whimpered, which was completely out of character. This particular human had a really big frame, one that would have made short work of an average human. At least show some pride before you die, for heaven's sake!!

Angrily I lunged the hovering weapon right threw his heart, eliciting the life force right out of his mouth before I quickly withdrew the blade. It reminded me of a scorpion tail, or maybe a viper bite; lighting fast, accurate, and fatal. He let out a gasp before hitting the ground, face first. Heh, if things continued like this...

"Raaaaaahh!!!"

What the hell? Was he charging me? What idiot would fight what he couldn't triumph over? It then became clear that it was the same fool who tried this earlier. Has he no common sense? His folly will cost him! But I figured that there was a more... appropriate fate for this clown rather than the tendril. My body tensed as I let him get close, feeling my left hand burn in anticipation. Just when he got to the point of no return...

I sidestepped to the right...

And drove a once previous human left hand straight through the thug's stomach, stopping his advance cold.

Withdrawing the now Schyyrtzi 4-fingered claws the thug instantly hit the ground, leaving two of his friends behind to fend for their lives. Ugh. That idiot's foolish attempt to attack me totally killed the mood. Now the others were starting to get ideas; I could see it on their face. Once you understand how human emotions and actions are tied to facial expressions, it's easy to tell what they are thinking. Sure, some humans have that ability, but none on this planet could tango with the Schyyrtzi on that aspect. The Schyyrtzi can even feel the difference in the air when their emotion turns a certain way. It comes so easily to us that we do it unintentionally at times. Like earlier with Ken, I could have sworn he was thinking about him being a virgin or something, but I didn't get it all because I was trying to focus at the situation at hand...

Or claw...

Whatever.

Not wanting to waste any more time or effort, I spawned a second tendril and lunged one each at the two remaining thugs. As a challenge to myself, I had my eyes shut during the attack. I wondered if I could hit them blind.

...

Two thuds... Yep, I got them.

Snickering, I opened my eyes to see the results. Both were struck somewhere on the upper torso. Heh, if anyone saw this, they probably would've concluded I don't like to beat around the bush when it comes to disabling my target. Which reminds me, what am I going to do with these bodies? I can't let them lie here... special forensics could easily tell this was no ordinary homicide. I started poking the bodies with five tendrils branching from my back.

Hmmm....

I could always eat them...

'BAH!' I screamed at myself inside my mind, 'Don't ever suggest that again!' If only they could walk up and away on their own... but then they would have to be zombies... like resident ev-

Wait...

THAT'S IT!

Dammit! Why couldn't I have thought of this before! I'll borrow the same alien aspect from that game! But first, I needed to have a word with my superior. I got something I want to say to him. Returning the prying tendrils to my back and shifting my claw back into a hand, I reached into my pocket with my bloodstain free hand and fished out my phone. Urgh...I detest getting blood on my person.

I started dialing.

...

.....

........

Dammit pick up!

"Zien? Why have you contacted me? Are the humans aware of your role?"

It's always about the role. I made sure he knew that everything was covered, so why ask? Does he really think I'm that incompetent? Even so, I shot a look at the bodies and scoffed. They weren't going to tell anyone.

"No, they are still in the dark. But you and I are going you have a talk JACKEL. It involves you, me, and a certain human I've come in contact with."

"Oh? Sounds interesting."

"Quite. I'll be there in two hours."

"Why not now? I'm eager to hear of your news Zien."

"Patience is a virtue JACKEL. I have to clean up a bit first."

JACKEL chuckled. "At least you look after your messes. You have two hours. Do not keep me waiting."

"Wouldn't dream of it."

Click.

He may be enthusiastic about this now, but that will change once we're face to face. He won't enjoy knowing I caught him. Heh, the irony of it all amuses me. I never would have noticed...

If it wasn't for my roommate.

Ken twirled his thumbs awkwardly on his bed, wracked with guilt at leaving Allen to those thugs. He could be dead! Why did he tell him to leave him?! Skills or not he was outnumbered! And why didn't he just leave him instead? Allen was obviously a much greater asset to society...

Did he actually care about him?

Ken never really considered Allen a friend...just a roommate. All those times he bailed his ass out on something he never really considered why. He thought Allen did it out on a whim, or simply to silence Ken's constant complaining. If Allen made it back alive, he'd have to ask. Ken groaned. If only he'd call or some-

BZZZ!! BZZZZZ!!!

Lost in thought Ken failed to notice his phone vibrating against the side table against his bed. When he did however, Ken practically pounced on the phone thinking, 'Please be him, please be him!'

God, he felt like some desperate girlfriend.

It was a text message from Allen.

Dude,

I'm alright, so you can stop freaking out in our room. Don't say you aren't because we both know that is a lie.

Ninja...

I'm clearing everything with the police now, so sit tight. I'll be there as soon as I can and tell you the details regarding the thugs. But it might be awhile... cops are asking a lot of questions for some reason.

Oh, and by the way, did you know that police have paperwork? WTH, dude?! I'll be here all night!

Don't have a nervous breakdown when I get back; I don't want to see you crying or anything.

Got it?

Despite what he just told Ken he nearly burst into tears, overwhelmed at the news of his safety. After a few moments ken straightened up and started texting a reply. But it only said one thing:

You are one lucky SOB

JACKEL swiveled his chair towards the center of the dark room, peering at Zien, who took his seat across the table. Their eyes locked for a few intense moments before JACKEL spoke first.

"Aaah... right on time. You sure are punctual Zien."

"It was you, I recall, being the one telling me to not keep him waiting."

JACKEL smiled. "So it was. Tell me, what was so urgent that you needed to speak with me?"

I smiled as well. "I know you've been spying on me JACKEL. But it wasn't until today that I noticed it."

JACKEL's smile faded.

Mine only widened.

"Humph. You may be mistaken boy."

"Don't play dumb. You've been using a Schyyrtzi flash memory camera on me haven't you? One that can review the subject's entire actions in the last twenty four earth hours. A model, I may add, that initiates faster than the human or Schyyrtzi can blink and that can transmit itself into any electrical monitor."

JACKEL's face hardened. I knew he was disturbed that I found out his little secret, playing dumb now would make him only look like a fool.

"If that was the case, wouldn't you have noticed it a while back? You_are_ a Technus Schyyrtzi after all. Such an anomaly in your area would have been surely noticed. Or are you slipping Zien?"

That fool! He knows I caught him but he still feigns ignorance! On top of that he insulted me! I could feel my eyes narrow into a glare.

"I don't slip JACKEL. But true, as a Technus Schyyrtzi I can sense, break down, track, and/or fix any electrical or mechanical anomaly I come near or contact. Though not as talented as I am, you still have Technus under your employ right here, they could have easily built a jammer or a cloak around the device so that even a Technus couldn't detect it."

"If so, then how did you know it was there, hmm?"

"The human."

JACKEL's eyes widened. Obviously he did not foresee my roommate's involvement, albeit accidental.

"I've worked with flash memory myself, JACKEL. There's something interesting you should know about it. When a flash memory device is activated, it gives off residual signals that affect the monitor that houses it. See, if the subject happened to have looked dead-on it when the device went active, they would catch a glimpse of the program that is used to control the flash memory protocol. Since it is a common device for the Schyyrtzi, they would not be affected in any way and furthermore any non-Technus would not know what to do with the information."

"Now let's say that for some reason a human saw it. The information would be registered into the subconscious of the human and for some reason give them a little knowledge of the Schyyrtzi technology that was contained within the monitor. How much is dependent on the human, but even so since our technology is different, they won't be able to apply the information to anything. Which is why the human can only do one thing with it."

JACKEL looked anxiously at me, unable to truly face the mistake he just made.

"What? What do they do with it?"

"They remember the name of those who used it."

JACKEL's face practically turned white. "So, your roommate..."

"Yep! Saw the signal and now knows the name of Schyyrtzi!"

JACKEL growled lowly. "I told those fools to not make a mistake! They will pay dearly for their incompetence!"

"You may want to give them some credit. I'm pretty sure they used it every time I looked at the keyboard or got my attention taken away by something outside. If I saw the signal I would have known sooner. But unfortunately for you my roommate was looking over my shoulder at the time and saw it."

JACKEL stared at me, concerned about my future actions probably. I mean, I caught him spying on me. It wouldn't surprise anyone if I went rouge, or attacked him, or went straight up to the president, transformed right in front of him and said, 'Lookie! I'm part of an alien race bent on changing your way of living with force if needed!'

But hey, I couldn't keep a grudge if my life depended on it.

"Distrust is something we can't afford to have here JACKEL; it hinders our ambitions and sullies our blood ties." I smiled as gently as I could. "Which is why I can trust you to let me do my role?"

JACKEL started to calm down a little, breathing deeply and heavily.

"Yes, which is why I can trust you to kill your friend. For the sake of the Schyyrtzi."

My.... Friend?

Oh shit.
