Early days - Chapter one
Early days - The big one.
As the electronic alarm rung, the synthetic droning stirring his deep slumber, Dan, the large orca began to rise, slamming his fist on the plastic box and groaning, " same shit different day " he mumbled as he sat up, rubbing his red and tired eyes. The male then stood up, stretching and groaning rather noisily, he grabbed his school uniform from the foot of his bed which had been neatly folded and placed there by his mother the night before. After he had picked up his uniform and shoes, he headed for the door, walking across the landing and down the stairs to the living room.
Dan's mother was already in the kitchen, making breakfast and preparing for the day, she smiled at him as he walked into the living room, " you look tired Dan, have you been up late again ", he simply shook his head in response and said, " nah, just had a bad night that's all ", he snickered and sat at the table, still not dressed as his mother brought in a plate of toast and a cup of coffee, " get dressed you lazy ass! " she shouted jokingly at him before returning to her duties in the kitchen. Dan started to tuck into his toast and sip his coffee whilst reading a newspaper he had bought the day before.
The orca finished his breakfast and his newspaper which he had folded away " five minutes mum!! " he shouted as he began to dress up in his uniform, " okay!! " she replied from the muffled kitchen. His uniform consisted of a pair of black shoes, some black trousers and belt, which went rather neatly with a white shirt and black blazer. It would not take him long to slip everything on and tie up his laces. His mother would then enter, now dressed out of her dressing gown and into some jeans and a t-shirt, " you ready? " she would ask, with a nod from Dan they both headed out of the front door and to the car.
The journey would have taken no more than fifteen minutes to walk, but due to the ghastly weather, a car would seem like the logical choice. His mother pulled up outside the busy front gate, giving him a kiss on the cheek and a joking push, " learn lots love, don't try and skip class again either!, I have my spies watching you! " " yes mum " he grumbled before opening the door and stepping out, then slamming it shut again.
Cameron, his friend had been waiting in his usual spot to the left of the gate. Cameron was a grey lynx, a rather skinny and tall one with blonde hair and glasses. " took your sweet time getting here orca boy! " he asked, " shut up fool, lets go ". They both proceeded to walk to registration class, or " reg ", reg was the first thing you would do on a typical school day here, they would mark you present, announce anything important, then let you off for your first lesson.
The bell for first lesson rang and the two of them stood up with the rest and headed off to first lesson, " geography it is boyo " the lynx said as he walked next to the considerably taller orca.
Geography was not something of a favourite of Dan, he was okay at the subject but showed no major interest in it whatsoever, his homework would be often not done, and class books rather deprived of valuable information, but he did okay in end of term exams so there was no need. " Yo, boyo wake up ", the lynx smacked the orca with his ruler in an attempt to wake him, he jumped and jerked up, yawning loudly, " you gotta stop falling asleep dude, you'll get kicked out again ", " uggghh so what, hate this stupid subject anyway ". He just idled for the rest of the lesson, twirling a pen around and flicking paper balls at the girls sat in front.
Breaktime had begun and the dynamic duo were already outside, on their regular bench, other friends had showed up, there was Jake who was a massive wolf, and Martyn who was a small dragon. They had all been engaging in gaming banter, such phrases as.. " I kicked your ass on COD last night dude! ", and, " I got solo xp's!! " . Then all of a sudden, Dan sort of zoned out and murred, " whoa!, what's that " said the orca as a strong scent hit his nostrils and caused him to gasp, the friends stopped and all sniffed the air simultaneously, " I don't smell anything Dan ", " there's nothing there dude ", Dan looked at them and nodded, " yes there is!!, it's strong as hell!, it's like, cinnamon ", they all looked at each other and shook their heads, " we don't smell anything dude ", it was rather awkward before the lynx burst out laughing and pointed at the orcas crotch, " oh yeah!!, I think he's telling the truth!! Hah! ", Dan looked down as everyone started to laugh, he swore and covered his groin, embarrassed like hell, " screw you!! ". Their laughing had been interrupted by the end of break siren, " Physics now " said the lynx, still giggling and panting.
Physics was Dan's favourite subject, there was something about it that interested him, all the formulas and method behind everything. That strong smell was still lingering in the air, effecting his body, in more ways than one it would seem, and the smell seemed to be getting stronger. The teacher was abit perplexed by this as the orca was always bang on in his lesson, always paying attention and writing everything down, but this time he just seemed to keep to himself and daydream constantly.
The teacher, Mr Cooper, was about to say something to Dan but was interrupted by a knocking at the door, he shouted " come in! " and the head teacher Mrs Thomas walked in, a rather scary and impacting gryphon, she was dressed in her traditional grey clothing. " Mr Cooper, I have a new student for you, she has just transferred from Brynglas Comprehensive ". The class all peered slightly and gasped as an unusual sight walked in, Dan's jaw practically fell off as he gawked at the site. " oh,, bloody hell ", a beautiful orca had walked in, a female one to boot, the scent that had been irritating Dan all day had increased in strength and hit him like a brick wall to the face, but he still stared, mouth open like a cod fish. The female walked in and sat down on the front row of the class, clearly missing Dan who was sat at the back, his face didn't move an inch as the teacher closed the door, Mr Cooper had now realised why he had been in a world of his own throughout the lesson, he laughed to himself and just let Dan daydream for half an hour straight.
Lunchtime had arrived, and Dan had not eaten anything, just sat next to his friends daydreaming and murring to himself, " hello?, hello?! " the lynx said before squirting some of his water into Dans face, snapping him out of his trance. " jeez you can be a horny bastard sometimes ", the rest giggled slightly and talked amongst themselves, hatching a devious plan. The lynx said to the others, " he's got physical education next, he hates that, so I propose this.... ", the others all nodded and smiled.
Football was on the agenda for P.E, Dan just played along, halfway through though, Jake from earlier had walked into the sports hall and shouted to the teacher, " Mr John wants Dan to help us move stuff, may he leave?! ", the teacher simply nodded and returned to watching the game being played. Dan had left the hall and said to Jake, " what does he want me for? ", " don't be stupid dude, you know Mr John hates you, I got the coolest thing ever, you wanna see it? ",, " ummm, sure I guess, where is it? " " down here, follow me ".
Jake had led Dan to the janitors cupboard, not far from the sports hall, " it's in there dude, look inside! ", Dan had opened the door when all of a sudden, Jake pushed him inside and locked the door, " Jake you fluffed up bastard, I'll kill you when I get out!! ", he then stopped dead and turned around, then resuming his cod-fish face from physics as he stared at the centre of the room, " good,,, god ". There in the room, just standing there and smiling at him was the female from earlier, in all her beauty. " hi there!! " she simply said, as he realised she was in on the prank too. " He turned fully and blushed hard, the strong scent still affecting him all over, he had forgotten about his nether regions unfortunately. " Uhh,, hehe,,, ummmm,, hi! " , he giggled like an idiot, all of his attention focused on the female. The girl giggled and responded, " heh, what's your name? ". Dan stared and blinked " uhhh,,, heh,, Dan, what's yours? ". The girl smiled and spoke, " Gloria, Gloria Mullins ", he repeated and giggled again , " Gloria, heh, that's a nice name ".
Dan was still standing, looking at her and blushing, " so heh, new huh ", she nodded and replied, " yeah, just arrived her today heh ", " Awesome ". The silence was rather awkward until Jake had returned and opened the door, " you lovebirds said hello yet? ", Dan nodded to him and winked before turning back to Gloria, " so heh, what you doing after school today? ", " nothing really, why hun? ", Dan rubbed the back of his head and blushed some more, " you fancy hanging out? ". Gloria smiled and nodded, " sure!, you can walk home afterschool with me if you want ". " good idea ", they both walked out of the cupboard to the sight of a smiling Jake, "did It work danny boy?", Dan leaned into his ear and said, " you are a colossal dick, I love you dude ".
