Chapter 6

"Don't you EVER do that to me again!" I said, hugging Rose tight. She snuggled into his chest, glad to know how much her master cared about her.

----Flashback; Rose PoV----

As Alex ran past me, I let out a gasp of surprise. I didn't know he could run that fast! Then again, I don't know exactly how fast I can run in my new body either. I put on more speed, and found that it wasn't much harder than jogging. With a laugh, I ran forward, and when I nearly caught up to Alex, I got an idea. I kept along behind him, and when he looked back, I would leap into the bushes.

He finally took a break, and I hid in the bushes for about ten minutes. Eventually he rose, seeming panic stricken. He ran back the way we came, calling out my name, while I rose ( Heh-heh, Rose rose ) from the bushes. I walked over to where he was sitting, but right when I was about to sit down, something shot out of the bushes and slammed into me. Whatever it was was really strong.

"HOW CAN YOU HURT HIM THAT MUCH!" a strangely familiar voice yelled in Poké. I whirled around but couldn't find whoever it was. The Pokémon had vanished back in the woods. I tried to tap into my aura-seeing abilities, but they wouldn't come.

The voice came again from a completely different direction, "HE'S WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU!" A ball of shadow shot out of the woods from that direction. It slammed into me, and pushed me against the ground. Before I knew what was happening, I was on my back. Whoever it was had their paw on my chest. Suddenly, I saw her face.

"You!" I said. On top of me was the Mightyena that Alex had released! "Have you been following me?"

"No, I've been following the boy. I fairly don't care about you. I regret not staying with him. I was very weak from a battle that I had gone through, and he could have taken me. But he didn't! He let me go." she said.

"Yes, Alex truly is kind. Now get off me! I want to scare him when he gets back."

"DON'T YOU EVEN REALIZE WHAT YOU'RE DOING? HE'S SCARED TO DEATH OF WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED TO YOU! GO AFTER HIM!" With a shock, I remembered how I had felt this morning when Alex wasn't there.

"I-I know what you mean. Now let me go! I have to go to him." She got off of me, and I jumped up and ran towards Alex. I finally arrived in the bushes right behind him. He spun round and I leaped out.

----Flash-forward; Alex PoV----

"Alex, I'm so sorry. I didn't think. At the point where you stopped, I waited, but then I remembered how I felt this morning, and rushed back here." Rose said. A tear began running down her cheek.

I reached up my hand and brushed it away. "It's okay. Just don't leave me again." As soon as I said the words, I realized how cheesy they were. But I didn't care. I gave her a kiss on the ear, but I knew she was hiding something. I decided not to push it. "Well, let's try this again."

I said. With a laugh, she bounced forward. I ran after her.

After about an hour later, we finally arrived at New Bark Town. I walked into the first building, which just so happened to be the lab.

"So, who do we have here?" a kindly looking old man said.

"Hello sir. My name is Alex Silverstone. I have a special case to talk to you about."

"Well, young man, I'm not really su-"

"Every rose has its thorn." His eyes widened.

"How- who-? Come with me." He grabbed my arm and led me back into the back room. This was where they kept the lab Pokémon.

"Who told you those words?" he said, eyes distant.

"Nurse Joy in Blackthorn City. She owes me a favor, and she thinks you can pay it."

His eyes snapped back into view as he said, "Well, what is it?"

"As I said, I have a little problem. I just started on me journey, so at first I didn't have any Pokémon-"

He interrupted and said, "Oh, so you just need a Pokémon. Here, I'll-"

"Nope. I already have a Pokémon. Rose, you can come in now." I said. Rose stepped into the room, and Prof. Oak stared at her.

"Is that a-"

"Yes, that's Rose. She's the problem, in a way. You see, I saved her and then she wanted to come with me. The bad part is, I don't exactly have a trainer's license." He looked at me for a moment, as if weighing his chances.

Finally, he said, "Alright, I'll help you. But only under one condition. Shiny Pokémon, such as your- err- Rose, are rare. Therefore, I'd like a few pieces of fur, and to know the exact circumstances by which her evolution occurred."

I blushed when he asked about her evolution, so I said, "Could you settle with some fur?"

"Fine." he handed me a pair of scissors and I slowly walked over to Rose. Before I got there, however, she used Psychic and pulled out three long hairs. I grabbed them out of the air and nodded my head in thanks. Turning around, I handed them to Prof. Oak. "Marvelous. Now, I suppose you need to be registered. Simple enough."

He turned around and rummaged through a drawer. Finally, he turned back around with 4 items. The first was a camera. The second was a blank piece of plastic about the size of a credit card. The third was a small box with a bunch of letters and numbers on it. Finally, the last item was a Pokédex. He handed the Pokédex to me and said, "Just point the scanner at a Pokémon and hit the Register. Try it out with Rose." Before I could do so though, he snapped a picture of me. Luckily, I was smiling and it wasn't too bad of a picture.

I turned and said to Rose, "You don't mind, right?"

'No, not at all. I trust you.' Without another word, I pointed the little camera-thing at her and hit the button. Text came up on the screen, along with a picture of Rose in a fighting stance.

"Lucario, the Aura Pokémon, and the evolved form of Riolu. By sensing the aura of its opponents, Lucario can read their thoughts and movements. Alert! Rare: Shiny Pokémon."

"Well, nothing I didn't know already." I said. I turned it towards her and she laughed.

'I could've told you that.'

"All done!" Professor Oak said.

He handed me the plastic he was holding. My trainer card.

"There. You can participate in everything as a normal trainer now. When you see Nurse Joy again, tell her that we're even."

"Why did you owe her anyway?"

"If you stay off that subject, I won't report you to the authorities for illegal carrying of Pokémon." He said, blushing bright red. Before he could threaten me again, I ran out the door. The air was nice and cool, quickly rejuvenating my energy.

I turned to Rose and asked, "Well, what now?"

'Well, as much as I hate to admit it, I have no skill with battling. What should I do?' She said, obviously embarrassed. I laughed, but then stopped short when I saw tears in her eyes.

"Hey, hey, it's okay. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Of course we can work on that." I said, trying to get her to stop. I gently wiped away her tears, and gave her a smile. I put my arm on her shoulders and said, "Let's go find an empty field or something. Comon." She stopped crying with some small sniffles. With a little sigh, she allowed me to drag her along.

After some snooping around, we came upon empty grassland about a mile out of town. For a while, Rose simply danced around the field. In the soft afternoon sun, her fur sparkled like diamonds. When she ran up a hill, the Beatles song, 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' popped into my head. Subconsciously, I began to hum it. Suddenly, Rose froze, ears twitching.

She danced gracefully up to me and said, 'What is that noise you're making?' I stared at her, wondering what she was going on about.

"What noise?" I responded. She gently prodded at my neck. Suddenly, I became conscious of my humming. I began to laugh, and said, "Oh, you mean humming? You've never heard someone hum before?"

'Hum-ming? What is hum-ming?'

"Well, it's exactly the noise I made. It's like... singing but with your mouth closed."

'Well then, what song was that?' She asked. 'Uh-oh, treading on thin ice. She can't know I'm from an entirely different dimension.'

"Umm... you've probably never heard of it. It's from my hometown. A song called, 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds'."

'So, how's it go?' She said. With a shock, I realized she wanted me to sing.

I blushed bright red and said, "Oh, um... you know, I'm not really a very good singer, I really don't think it's a good idea to... So how about battling!" Luckily, the subject change worked.

'I really don't know the first thing about fighting. Where should I start?'

"First, let's see if you can throw a punch. Clench your paws, and swing your fist at me as hard as you can." She did as I asked but an inch from my face I caught the punch. She stares at me with a little anger and then brings around her other fist as if to try again. However, halfway through the punch, she opened her hand out flat and the palm glowed a bright red. With a little surprise, I jumped back. My Pokédex beeped and said, "Rose learned Force Palm!"

I smiled at her and said, "See, that wasn't so hard! Wait, this thing knows your moves?" I pulled it off my belt and flipped it open. The screen was blue and had a small box in the canter that said, "Please ask for subject." I said aloud, "Rose". The screen began loading, and changed. On the top was a picture of Rose and her weight, height etc. Then, on the bottom, it showed her moves. "So, you know Force Palm, Quick Attack and Metal Claw."

'Metal Claw and Quick Attack? Oh, you mean this?' First she turned and ran forward. After a second, she turned into a blur and then struck a tree. The tree fell. Next, she brought her hand down as if to slap the tree stump, but before she hit it, three silver glowing claws shot out of her paw and sliced it.

Surprised, I applauded. She took a bow. She started back over towards me, but something struck me from behind. Hard.
