Runewolf: prelude
Far away, in a vast pocket of galaxy that most would ignore, there lived a planet, nestled quietly in orbit. This planet I speak of is called Xenoth, there lives many signs of life. The most notable were the 5 intelligent races of Xenoth. Of these, 3 are lycanthropic, one avian, and one reptilian. The 5 great races were once in harmony, but as all life does, one specie's priority may become hostile. Thus, many great wars were waged between the races and thousands died. Because of this, the great Runewolf clan was almost driven to extinction. The clan, afraid of being wiped from existence, has locked up its walls for 150 years. The Runewolf clan has had little to do with the world outside during the time from locking up its walls. The little knowledge of the clan that has been leaked has been sent by the few that have been banished from there lands. Of these there is the brave rune-warrior know as Kale. This story is of Kale and his journey to learn of what has happened to the world his ancestors left behind.
Below is a brief description of all the races of Xenoth.
Runewolf: lycanthropic with various fur markings, resembling runes on there fur and clothing. The Runewolf clan is by far the most technologically advanced civilization on Xenoth. The downside to this advance is the reliance of the art of "Runeforgery" this involves the power to take energy and store it in runes. Thus, only those who have mastered Runeforgery may work there technology. Runewolf lands may be found in the arctic peninsula and in the runic mountains. The clan's capitol, Arcanoth, is located in the north, on the arctic peninsula. Arcanoth is said to be a beautiful city with all of life's wants or needs.
Mangleclaw: The Mangleclaw clan is lycanthropic with mangy fur in various colors. Often conceded to be savages in past years, mainly because of the fact that there major settlements are located around swamps. The Mangle claw clan is actually very advanced as far as technology and there society is very rich culturally. The Mangleclaw clan has been know to have the greatest economy and is know for its traveling salesmen. Mangleclaw warriors and hunters are known for there cunning and strength. The great wars had not affected them much as they were independent throughout and held there positions very well.
Thornbeak: often said to be the most intelligent race of Xenoth, the Thornbeak are the avian race as well. The race has mastered Runeforgery, to an extent. With all the power that they have acquired though, they have failed to realize that they can only runeforge there beaks, for that is the only part that can handle the power, where as the Runewolf clan has made armor imbedded with there fur (witch can withstand the Power of Runeforgery ). This limits the power of the Thornbeak mages and runemasters, so rune technology is not very useable in Thornbeak society. There capitol is located on the northern continent in the middle of mist valley, were most high mages live and study on how to master the ability of Runeforgery
Sunmaw: the Reptilian race of Xenoth, and the great thieves and masters of technology outside of the use of runes. Living in the hottest, driest climates possible, the Sunmaw clan is often exiled from the outside world due to there tendency to steal. The Sunmaw is split into two sub- clans, the lost desert clan and the no end clan. Named from the deserts they come from, the two clans usually refrain from contact, although something is often claimed to be between the two clans.
Blackmane: usually called the assassins of Xenoth, the Blackmane are usually solitary people that live on the twilight and poison islands. Not much is know about this clan in the fact that they do not communicate much with the other races, although there is said to be an alliance between them and the Sunmaw clans.
