This feeling...This one feeling.

Nothing can ever beat it. This is, without a doubt, the most wonderful feeling I have ever experienced. My arms are held out from my body, my heart beats faster in my chest, and my head is held high into the skies as I take a deep breath and hold it for a few moments. I begin to feel the burn in my lungs as they tell me I need oxygen. I release my held breath and let my arms slowly fall to my sides as I face forward, opening my eyes. The sight that greets me can only be bested by the feeling that I'm glad hasn't faded yet. Slowly, I open my eyes. Before me lays a vast sea of green below me, with the endless skies above me. Straight ahead of me is the sunset, partially hidden beind cloud and casting out shafts of firey orange light. I lean forward and rest my paws on the powerful back of the gryphon below me.

"Hey, Celsion. It's starting to get a bit late. Think we should land?" I call out to the golden gryphon. Even with the rushing wind I don't have to speak that loud with his amazing hearing. He turns his head and stares at me with an eye before turning back. Next thing I know, we're slowly start to glide down to the cover of trees. I pat the fur covering his back and start looking for a clearing for him to land. My gaze travels over the tops of the trees, taking in the view of the orange sunlight shining over them. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch a clearing that looks like it would make a good camp for the night. I point it out to Celsion and he changes direction towards the clearing.

The ground starts to rush up to meet us as we get closer. Celsion starts to flap his wings, slowing our descent and hits the ground at a quick trot. He slows to a stop and folds his wings against his body before I climb off of his back. I immediately walk to the front of him and grip him tightly around the neck with my arms in a hug.

"Thank you, Celsion." I say before letting go and walking around to where I was sitting. Just behind that spot are a few leather bags that hold some light traveling supplies, a bit of rations, and one other object. A staff. I untie the items and set them on the forest ground before pulling out a brush and begin to pass it over his fur. With every pass, a light sound slips from his throat. He let out a moan as the brush both scratched the itches he had and straightened out his fur. I took my time, making sure to get everywhere. Once finished, I took a step back to admire his form. Like the traditional gryphon, he has the head, wings, and front legs that resembled those of an eagle's talons. His head and wings are covered in glorious white feathers, while the rest of his body sports a fine, soft golden colored fur all the way to his tail. The tip of which has a puff of thicker hair of a darker shade. I can't help but smile as I take in his sight and remember how we came to be on this journey with each other. I'll get to that in a minute though.

"I'm gonna start getting some fire wood for camp." I say as I turn around and head into the woods. I walk silently through the trees, not wanting to disturb the natural life around me. Every now and then, I stoop down and pick up twig or a stick for the fire. Once I've gotten a small armful, I begin heading back to the clearing. On the way there, I glance up between the leaves of the trees. I can just barely see the lights of the stars in the sky. The sun will be fully set within the hour.

Upon making it back to the clearing, I notice that Celsion is gone. I don't have to worry. He'll be back soon. He's just gone out to catch some dinner for himself and me. I set the sticks down and grab a flint and a knife from the bags. Looking around, I manage to find something to use as tinder to get the fire started. After a few strokes of the flint with the knife, some sparks caught the tinder. I gently coax them into embers, and in a few moments more, flames.

Slowly, I add a some sticks and twigs so as not to smother the flame. Finally, I have a nice little campfire going and I feel the warmth start to spread throughout my body as I sit with one arm sitting resting on my leg. I get lost, staring into the flames and letting my mind wander.

I have no clue how much time has passed when I feel Celsion bump against me. He has a squirrel and a rabbit in his mouth for dinner. I smile as I reach up and grab the squirrel from him. He stalks off with the rabbit and lays down with it, enjoying his dinner. I set to work on the squirrel, getting it ready for the flames. Once it's cleaned and cooking over the fire, I look up at the sky again. I can just barely see the light of the sun shining over the trees. I take in the sights of some of the constellations from the now brightly lit stars. After a few moments, I turn back to the cooking squirrel as I smell it's aroma in the air. I turn it over and stand up before heading into the woods. Needing to wash the squirrel remains out of my fur, I remember passing by a stream earlier. I find it quickly and kneel down and quickly rinse out the remains of the creature.

I quickly head back to the camp fire so as not to let my meal burn. I get there just in time as I pull the squirrel off of the flames. I prop it against a stone to let it cool off a bit before I take a slow bite out of it. I let out a small moan as the taste makes me want more. I force myself to go slow. I want to make this meal last for a some time tonight. As I slowly eat the meat, I feel Celsion come up behind me and lay down. He curls around me and the fire, laying his head on my right. I lean back against him and finish off the squirrel. I set the remains aside to dispose of them later and lay down right next to the gryphon.

If you'll remember, I made a mention of how Celsion and I met. Now seems like a good time to get into that.

So, here goes....
