#6 of Mattheus

Finally here it is! I really don't like this chapter and I think it has something to deal with spending two months away from it. I've already have some ideas for the next chapter flowing through my mind. Once I get the time I'm gonna start working on it. Also I haven't had it edited yet because I really wanted to see what you guys think of it. Well thanks and hope you all had a wonderful new years.

Martin sighed softly as the bell rang for the beginning of fifth out. The otter was getting more eager by the moment for the day to get over with so that he could spend the afternoon with Bryan. Unfortunately for him, the more eager he got, the slower the day seamed to pass by. He also began to get more nervous about how he would confront Bryan about his protectiveness. Even though he enjoyed it the most of the time, he didn't want the wolf to hurt anyone physically.

The otter was about to open his journal and look at all of the possible situations that could happen when he felt a soft tap on his left shoulder. Turning around in his chair, he found himself face-to-face with the dalmatian from earlier in the day. "Hey... um... Trinity," He said after remembering her name "How has your day been so far?"

"You mean despite going to school in a backward town like this? Yeah I would say it's been going great." Trinity replied sarcastically with a half-hearted smile.

"Good morning class!" The loud booming voice of the creative writing teacher had caught Martin off guard and caused the otter to jump in his seat, banging his knee against the back of the seat. Martin cursed quietly as he nursed his knee as he turned toward the front of the class and paid attention to the massive kangaroo.

The otter blushed heavily eyeing the kangaroo's well-built body. Martin had a slight crush on the teacher through last year, not only because intelligent he was, but also because he happened to be one of the coaches for the school. Had it not been for Bryan moving to Kearney, the crush that he had on the sexy roo would have probably turned to lust by now.

"Today's assignment is going to be a simple one, just write about what comes to your mind. Once we get back from lunch, I'll have some of you share what you wrote." The coach said sitting down in his chair.

Twenty minutes had passed by before Martin looked up from his little story. Unlike most of the time, this story came to him naturally; thanks to the sci-fi shows that he watched over winter break. While it had nerd written all over it, the otter beamed down on it with pride. Great, three more minutes. Martin sighed as he tapped the tiled floor restlessly with his tail.

Looking around the classroom, he realized that Coach Clark had gotten up and started gazing over the stories. Occasionally, Martin could see the disgust in the teacher's face. Most of the time, it was one of the students who only took the class to graduate that cause the kangaroo to scowl. The coach stopped in front of Martin's deck to skim through his story. While the older man was reading; Martin found his gaze slipping down to the kangaroo's crotch. As the roo whispered a simple 'great story', the otter's eyes darted down to his paper.

Finally, after a few more seconds of waiting, the bell rang for lunch and Martin hopped out of his seat. "So Trinity, who do you sit with?"

"I sit with Matt and Zack for this semester. Sara used to sit with us until this semester. Stupid clothing class." Trinity grumbled getting out of her desk and catching up to the otter.

Even though he hardly knew the girl, the young teen could hear the mock-rage and chuckled quietly at it. "Well if you three would like to, you can sit with me and some of my friends." Martin proposed.

Trinity blushed happily as she replied to the offer. "Thank you so much. I'll tell Matt and Zack so they will be able to keep an eye out for you. And once again thanks a lot."

Nodding to the dalmatian, Martin dashed off to his locker to grab his lunch. He hopped towards the commons to get to the table he and his friends sat at regularly. Already at the table, Jen stared off into space waiting for someone to come. The she-wolf snapped back to reality as Martin drew near and waved to the otter.

Martin smiled brightly sitting down next to the giant wolf. "Hey Jen, how has your day been so far?" He inquired pulling a sandwich out of his lunch bag.

"Not so well. It was going okay until I was called down to the office to drive Bryan home. His face busted open in gym today," Jen sighed her tail hanging limply towards the ground. "He did want to know if you still wanted to come up after school."

"What exactly happened?" The otter asked starring at the wolf in shock.

"From what I was told, the class was wrestling today. One of Bryan's opponents decided not to follow the rules. Pushed Bryan towards the edge of the mat and dropped him face first onto the ground. And no, I don't know who it was, but I'm sure Bryan will take care of the cheater."

The otter continued to stare at the she-wolf, still shocked. "Damn. Umm, yeah, of course I still want to come up," His tail drooped low, mimicking Jen's. "Besides his face, how was he doing when you took him home?"

Jen scratched her ear softly as she chuckled softly. "Umm... it depends on what you call swearing at the top of your lungs is. Why are you so ... never mind. I'm going to go get some food. Be back soon."

As the wolf got up to leave, Matt sat down at the table and reached over to hug Martin gratefully. "Thank you so much, Trinity told you'd let us sit here."

"It's no problem at all, but when were you gonna tell me about you and the cheetah?" The otter giggled as he patting his friend softly on the back. His chuckles grew louder as he watched Matt's white cheeks burn a bright red.

"How did you find out?" Matt asked flabbergasted, his mouth stood ajar.

The otter could feel his own cheeks start to blush as he look at his friend, getting ready to explain. "Please don't get upset okay. I asked Trinity how she met you all and, well, she told me how she walked in on you and Zack having sex," Martin reached across the table and patted one of the fox's ginger paw. "Don't worry; it doesn't bother me that you like other guys. You're my friend and that's all that matters to me."

The canine whimpered staring down at the tiled floor. "Just promise me that you won't tell anyone."

"I never planned on tell anyone, but I promise I won't tell a single soul. I'm glad to hear you tell me." Martin whispered making sure that only the fox could hear. Moments later he heard a couple of paws approach the table and foolishly blushed knowing who it was; as he watched his friend's already blushed face turn a darker shade of red. The otter greeted Zack and Trinity as each took a seat on both sides of the flustered fox. The cheetah looked as if he wanted to wrap one of his paws around his secret boyfriend, but kept his paw by his side to be safe.

Martin's tail agitatedly rapped against the ground, as he watched the fox's ears flatten back. Moments like this made the otter wish that the school had rules against anti-gay bullying. Looking up at the ceiling, Martin closed his eyes, trying to calm down. Slowly the thought of Matt faded away, but were eventually replaced with images of his big wolf friend. _ If I would have been there when Bryan got hurt, could I have comforted him without being insulted or would that just have seen it as one guy comforting another?_

Instead of letting the festering notions continue to bother him, Martin did his best to ignore them and opened his eyes to look for Jen and her boyfriend.

The rest of lunch flew by in seemed like seconds and Martin couldn't be any happier to get back to class.

Once back in class, the otter eyed a poorly folded up piece of paper on his binder. Should I even bother opening it? Martin pondered sitting down and looking at the 'note'. Curiosity eventually won over his better judgment and he quickly unfolded the paper. Written sloppily all over were words like 'fag' or 'queer' or other similar to them. Sighing softly, the otter crumpled up it up hastily as the tardy bell rang.

Coach Clark waited by the door taking a mental note of anyone late back from lunch. Once everybody was seated, the kangaroo began choosing students to share what they wrote. Each time one of the stories included something inappropriate or offence, the kangaroo cut them off. This of course did not stop the majority of the class from bursting out into laughter. Just before the end of class Clark called on Martin to get up and share it work. Mentally cursing, the otter took a deep breath before reading what he wrote.

He wasn't surprised when only Trinity gave him a positive response once he had finished reading. He heard numerous homophobic slurs echo softly in the room, but did his best to ignore them.

"Thanks for the complement Trinity," Martin murmured.

For the rest of the hour he sat in his desk unresponsive, but the moment the bell rang, he was ready set get out of the classroom. He was almost to the door when Coach Clark called him over.

"Yeah Mr. Clark?" The otter shuffled his way through the other students over to the coach's desk.

The kangaroo sat there silently as he waited for the rest of the students to leave the room. "What is going on? And please don't give me an 'I don't know' or 'You wouldn't understand'. You are not only a great student, but I can tell that you are a good person too. So please let me help you."

"Truthfully, I'm not sure. It might have something to do with two of my friends being gay and I've always been quick to protect them. Or it could deal with my tiny size. Either way I don't think it is something I've done." Martin mumbled looking into the kangaroo's eyes.

"Okay, thank you Martin and be sure to have a good day." Clark said smiling as he patted the miniature student on the shoulder.

"Don't worry, I'll try my best." The otter replied as he headed for the door again.
