it could happen,,, part 5

The next few days just seamed to idle along, the realisation that i was to be a father was astounding. The bloodtests results had returned and showed that we were not realated at all. It was the greatest relief I had ever recieved, and Phi was just as relieved. However, I felt as though I was not ready for such a responsibility, I could barely look after myself, let alone a kid, I should have been ready for this.

*****

I just continued doing what I could just to keep myself busy while Phi was at work, chatting online with some newfound 'therians' on a site I had stumbled apon when doing a bit of a background check on how 'lycanthropy' came into being loved by so many of our younger generations. They had everything from stories and music, to journals and artwork. I still cannot believe that I had never been to Sofurry, Transfur, Deviantart, Pawsru, or even 'The Black Tapestries'. And for some of the comics that I read, they were novel grade. There were some characters I felt like I could reffer to, but they all had their own flaws.

Several months passed and I realised that Phi was nearing the end of her pregnancy. Although she was only at 6 months, It was clear that the combination between human and anthro dna would have caused a different rate of birthing. Phi had spent the past few days taking it easy as I had told her that it would be less stressful on her and the baby, and I did so enjoy comming home to see her waiting for me. weather she was a fox or human at the time always surprised me, but it was pleasant. Especially since I had been away getting new stock for the warehouse. But today was different. Icould feel there was something wrong as I walked in the front door int a dark house turning on some lights and making my way to the lounge.I saw her sitting there crying. "Phi, is everything ok?" I slowly moved towards her, turning on the light for the lowlights.

She looked down at her belly sadly, ears drooped and with almost a whimper she said. "Our child........ Is......."

I looked at her with fear within me."No? No?!"

She could not help but look away."Yes." as she burst into tears.

I fell too my knees at her feet, looking at her seeing the fur on her cheeks stained with tears, her trembling paws in my hands, the sorrow in her eyes. Then she quickly looked down at the note at her side, and lifted her nose in a gesture to show me to read it.

To whom it may concern.

In my proffession, I have never seen a concieved child develop so quickly, I also have to admit that the sight of a tail at the base of the spine is also unusual.

At first I dismissed the possibility and assumed that the ultrasound was faulty. Upon restarting the test on the newer ultrasound unit, the same was seen and also the legs of the child appeared to be more that of a k9. I questioned the woman and she was reluctant in answering. I had her subdued and took her for further studies. During one of the tests the child appeared to have developed a snout. I opted for an immediate c-sec and unfortunately, the young female died before the process was completed. No abnormalities were found and she would have been the most beautiful child I had ever seen. I give you my most sincere apologies and hope to compensate you in monetary form for as long as the child should have lived.........

At this point I was livid. I was ready to kill. I skipped to the signed name at the bottom of the letter.

Dr E L Whittaker.

"Eugene Lambert Whittaker" I Growled knowinfg exactly who he was and why I remembered him. He told my brother he would never walk again, which drove him to suicide. He died in my arms and I swore I would avenge him, but could not at the time.

My mind was finally made up for me. "Wait here." as I got up and walked towards my car. "I have unfinished business".

I cannot remeber the last tyme I drove as though it were the end of the world, but I believe I set new records for myself, endangering the public, destroying streetsigns all the wat to Eugene's place. I quickly made my way up the path to his door, beating at it and ringing the bell. When I saw that it was him opening the door, I launched my fist squarely on his nose, shattering his glasses and sending him flying.

"WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!"
