Jake:

I followed everyone else through the compound wondering what could possibly have made today get off to a lousier start. I sighed and mumbled "Go from a dream, to waking up in a new room, to a compound that's locked down after I get inside. Why do I have the feeling this is going to be a problematic day." I shook my head and followed everyone at a slightly sedate pace wondering who all that I knew was a part of this class, and how we were supposed to leave if we didn't pass the demented teacher's tests. I shivered at the thought that the only way out was to pass the class, then glanced to my left and saw that Thom was actually in the class, and he was talking to a strange digimon dragon hybrid. Thom saw me and waved then he and the other digimon walked off as the teacher and her assistant started sorting us into groups. She ignored me and a few others then said "Those that have yet to be put into a group gather together, you are one group. You will work as a team, or you will regret your choices. All groups should know this, should one of you fail, ALL of you fail. This is why you've all been put into groups with people who's abilities are similar to your own." I blinked and watched as the others in my group walked over to me then smirked slightly. I could tell that most of them were hybrids, but two familiar faces rushed over and tackled me when they saw me standing at the edge of the group surveying it.

I smiled when Amanda said "We were wondering where Lady Dwayne was going to place a wild card like you. Why do you think she separated all of us from the others?" Danna got up and pulled her sister to her feet then cut in with "What do you think she's got planned?" I climbed to my feet and said "No idea girls, I just have a feeling she's going to see who among these groups has a way to lead and convince them to work together, and who will let their companions fall." They stared at me surprised I would get that from the little that had happened so far and I explained "We're almost completely grouped so that everyone has similar abilities, however some of the groups have one or two people out of place that looks almost as if it's an accident. I have a feeling that their will be tasks that only the 'outsiders' can do and the rest of the group will rely upon them. I could be wrong, but that's the vibe I get from this." They studied all of the groups for a few minutes then Danna said "I see what you mean, however I can't figure out why she put us in with your group." I smiled slightly and said softly "Because this group is supposed to be the under dogs. We'll be given the toughest challenges. We are a mixed group that should be able to think of ways through or around our obstacles, but if we don't then the rest of the group will just consider us to be a group that can't work together. She deliberately picked people who didn't work well together, or who did but couldn't figure out how to combine their abilities into a group with people who they don't know. We're meant to be a test to see if human, hybrid, anthro, pokemon, and digimon can work together."

Danna studied our group and said "Three humans, Five hybrids other than you, Three digimon other than Amanda and I, and Six different pokemon of varying types." I nodded and silently wondered how we were going to pull all this together when the other groups would be competing against us, even as we competed against the obstacles, the teacher, and her assistant. I popped my knuckles and said softly "We're going to have to find out what everyone can do and sort out tasks accordingly, anyone who has a problem with it had best learn that if we don't work together then we're all done. The other teams, which are a group of pure digimon and digimon hybrids, a few pokemon and pokemon hybrids, and a group of humans and anthros, will be trying to kick us out of the running before class even truly starts. The teacher is giving us a while to get acquainted because she wants to see what we can do and who has leadership potential." The girls glanced at me then studied the other groups and finally seemed to notice that one or two people would walk throughout the group giving them instructions or trying to guide them in some other way. I chuckled seeing the look in their eyes and waited until they turned to me then said "Walking among people and learning their opinions is a good way to get them to accept you as leader. I'd do it, but I'm trying to figure out if their are any extra ways out of here, that don't include following orders." They stared at me then started walking among the group talking to everyone while I silently surveyed the others wondering which group would gun for us the hardest.

I smiled slightly when I noticed that the group that was mostly humans and anthros were the only ones who seemed to be doing the same, while the digimon and pokemon just glared at each other. I sighed and thought "Well either both of those groups are going to kill each other, or they just want to throw everyone else off. Either way I'll be watching them carefully." I sighed and popped my neck then sighed as the girls walked up and said "They seem to think you aren't a normal hybrid. Want to explain why that is?" I raised an eyebrow and said "You guys are digital foxes, use your noses and tell me." They sniffed me carefully then Amanda said "You smell somewhat like a digimon, yet not...." Danna nodded and said "This have something to do with your scanner experiment last night?" I shrugged and said "I dunno, everyone says I smell different. However I can't smell myself so I wouldn't know. I do however know that something besides blood flows through my veins, I seem to have absorbed charizard DNA last night, and that digital code flowed from my scanner into me." They stared at me and I said "Yeah, I'm basically a true hybrid because of my little experiment and it seems to be effecting how everyone sees me. I'm fine with that, it doesn't effect me. I've always been an outsider, this is just another reason why. I have to wonder though what this nutso teacher is going to throw at us." They thought about it then nodded as Dwayne and Sixta walked forward.

The two of them smiled at us to sweetly then said "We forgot to mention that after group training is individual training. So be prepared, now then why don't all of you point out your leaders." Each group slowly stepped back leaving one person at the forefront, ours however didn't move. I sighed and walked forward causing everyone else to step back a pace. Dwayne looked at me then said "Well it appears one of you is brave enough to step forward rather than having his fellows step back. Are you ready to feed the beasts on our training course?" I smiled slightly and nodded then yawned and popped my shoulder. Her assistant glared at me then the two of them walked off and talked among themselves. I watched them then shook my head figuring that all of us were in some sort of survival game, but the stakes might just be more than we bargained for. I glanced back at the group who was supposed to follow me and saw that they were all studying me in their own. I yawned as Amanda walked up and she said "I guess you have a plan?" I shrugged and said "Not really, but I can probably make one as soon as we get into our first challenge. If not, then I'll see if anyone else has any ideas." They stared at me surprised that someone who always seemed unwilling to ask for help would admit when he was wrong. I raised an eyebrow questioningly at their surprised looks and they shook their heads then said "Any ideas on what our first task will be?" They shook their heads and Amanda elaborated "Dwayne's only recently started this class, so we're the first ones to ever try it. If the headmaster doesn't think it's safe he'll close it down."

I stared at her and said "So we're basically their guinea pigs?" She nodded and I cursed then kicked a stone trying to figure out what the crazy dragon alligator hybrid had planned for us. It seemed almost as if she read my mind as she turned around and said "It's time to separate you into your different challenges. First however you will each be known by a unit name. Speak among yourselves and choose a name then have your leader report it to me, after which I will call out your units name and your mission." She turned and walked off while her assistant studied us. I glanced at the girls and said "Talk to the others and pick a name, I'll take it to Lady Dwayne when you guys have decided, I'm going to study the other groups." They nodded but I only caught it out of the corner of my eye as I turned away and started studying each group. The digimon seemed the most cohesive, while the humans and anthros seemed the most argumentive. The pokemon seemed to be getting along with the occasional rough spot, so I turned to my own group and watched them for a few minutes then said softly "We're not having that much trouble, but that's because nothing really big has happened." One of the others glanced at me and I smiled at them then sighed and turned back to study the others. It seemed they were slowly working out their differences as they each sent their 'leader' up to talk to Dwayne. The Digimon's leader was a black wolf that my scanner noted as Black Garurumon, the pokemon leader was a silver lugia, and the human/anthro leader was a young vixen who seemed to dislike her position.

I glanced back at my group and saw the others walk up. They looked at me and said "Three names are up for our group and all have equal votes. One is Shadow Strike, another is Flaming Blades, and the third is Demon's wings." I raised an eyebrow and Amanda said "I wanted it to be Shadow Strike, but please whatever you do don't chose flaming blades." Danna shrugged and said "Demon's wings fits in my opinion but it's up to you." I thought about it then said "I guess we'll go by Shadow Strike. It actually sounds like an elite fighting force, where as the other two don't really fit this situation." I smiled at the two of them then walked over to Dwayne and said "Our Group is known as Shadow Strike. I'm their commander, and I have yet to pick a second in command." She nodded and said "Go back to your group and await orders." I nodded and walked back slowly. Dwayne walked to the middle of the area and let out a piercing whistle that caught everyone's attention. I rubbed my ears and resisted the urge to flip her off as I got to my group, then turned back toward her. When she was sure she had everyone's eyes on her she said "There are four groups here. By the end of the day, three of those groups will be sent to there rooms to report back at dawn tomorrow, and the fourth will be split into individual members, who must earn their way out. However if they do earn their way free, they don't come back for three weeks." Each team whistled at that and I smirked understanding just what Dwayne was doing. She was making it so that we would try our hardest to make each other fail, but also trying to make sure that we didn't bond with our team mates to closely.

She smiled slightly and said "There are four doorways behind me, each of you will be sent through one of these doors. Let's start with the Digital Defenders, you guys will head through the red door." Their commander nodded and they all started for the red door. She turned back to the rest of us and said "Next we have the Pokemon Power Force. You're group will go through the green door, while the Mixed Maniacs will go through the blue door. Please go there now." Their commanders nodded and they went through their separate doors then Dwayne and Sixta both turned to my group. She smiled darkly and said " Well Shadow Strike, your group will head through the black door. I warn you now, your path will cross all three of the other teams, and I'll be keeping track of you from above. While my assistant Sixta will be controlling your obstacles. Are you ready for hell?" I nodded slowly and the others followed my lead then we walked through the black door. It was dark on the other side of the door and my eyes instantly started glowing absorbing what little light was showing through the doorway as one of the people at the back of our group shut the door. I silently cursed as I realized that the only ones on my team who I knew the names of were Amanda and Danna. I turned to my left and made out the figure of one of them so I said "Will you make a ball of light so that we can gather our bearing?" They nodded and created a ball of robins egg blue light. I smiled slightly and said "Thanks Amanda. Now I think it'd be wise if I got to know everyone on our team before we went any further. When we come to the first obstacle I'll assess abilities, but for now if I don't know anyone's names I'm going to be no good as a leader."

She nodded and walked alongside me as we headed to the back of the group. A fox hybrid, and a vaporeon stood there watching everyone else. I saw a blue glow surrounding the two of them and a single strand of darker blue connecting them. I slowly shook my head thinking something was wrong with my sight, since usually this kind of stuff only happened when I was in the middle of a fight. Suddenly a voice said "Ahem, I have tapped into your magic sight as part of our deal and increased it from regular battle sight. Also I'll be keeping track of you and seeing what you can do with your new abilities, maybe even throwing in a few hints." I didn't glance around because I realized it was in my head, but I silently shouted back "DON'T MESS WITH MY FUCKING HEAD WITHOUT TELLING ME FIRST!!!" then turned back to the fox and vaporeon. They watched me carefully seeming worried I was going to attack them or something so I smiled and said "Hi I'm Jake Arrows, the guy who volunteered to be our groups leader, and I was wondering who you guys were." They looked at each other and I saw that some sort of telepathic communication was going on as the fox turned back to me and said "I'm Raze, and she's my pokemon Aura. The two of us have been training together since my first year at the academy." I smiled at them and said "I'm guessing you guys are both water element users?" They nodded and I asked "Where do you guys branch in that field? I know water generally is used for healing, but I've seen it used for a lot more dangerous stuff like cutting." They smiled seeming surprised anyone would realize there was more to water than just healing, then Aura stepped forward and said "I'm a healer class water mage with minor offense. He's a balanced water mage, his offensive and defensive abilities are both high but equally balanced."

I nodded in understanding as she continued "However his healing abilities are a bit lacking, so together we make a really good team. A little secret most people don't know is that we pokemon who are mage class can also do all of the abilities of our wild cousins." I nodded in understanding then crouched down and offered my hand for a shake. She blinked and said "Besides Raze and a few others, your the first person to ever really treat us, pokemon in general I mean, as your equal rather than a servant." I spat to the side at the word servant and said "I think we're all equal, but I've me to many people who see the world in the coloring of 'My race is the best!' or 'They don't look anything like us so they must be monsters!!!' or even worse 'ABOMINATION ABOMINATION!!!!' because someone is a cross between two groups." She stared at me and saw the hurt in my eyes then sat down and slowly shook my hand. I smiled at her in appreciation then stood up and offered my hand to Raze. He blinked surprised and said "But you look almost completely human, why would you want to associate with a mostly animal hybrid like me?" I blinked and finally really studied him. He was a little shorter than me, had black hair, a fox tail, a human appearing face rather than a muzzle, and fox ears that stood out in sharp contrast to his hair. I raised an eyebrow and said "How are you any less human appearing than me?" He sighed and said "Well this for starters." then held up his hands which were more like an anthros hand paws, then pointed down and continued "Also from the waist down I'm a fox anthro. Doesn't that bother you at all?"

I raised an eyebrow slightly and shook my head then explained "from mid stomach to mid calf I'm a wolf, my ears are those of a wolf, my tail is that of a fox, a strangely colored fox but a fox nonetheless, and my eyes are those of a predator. I've also got digital code and some other substance running through my veins, do you really think you're less human than me?" He glanced at Amanda and asked "Is he kidding about that, or does he really have a mix of digital code and other substances in with his blood?" Amanda shrugged and said "Digital code yes, anything else I'm not sure because I wouldn't be able to smell anything about it except that it wasn't normal." Raze and Aura stared at her then Aura asked "Do you mind if I use my abilities to try and see what it is?" Amanda blinked and said "I'm not Jake's keeper, he's actually single as far as I know, so you'll have to ask him rather than me." She turned to me surprised and said "You guys aren't mates?" I shook my head and she said "Odd, because there is a weird thread of light connecting the two of you." I glanced around trying to see it and heard the voice in my mind just laugh at the absurdity of me running around trying to see something that was just not part of my sight. I sighed and mentally glared at him then turned to Aura and said "Go ahead. The teachers took a sample of it from my scanner, but I'm not really sure what good it did." She nodded and closed her eyes then touched my hand with her tail and started chanting. I watched her and some part of me started to absorb the knowledge she was using just by watching and listening.

Suddenly she opened her eyes and said "It's almost like pure liquefied magic. That's the bet way I can put it. That green stuff in your veins seems to be the same material that most items of magic from the old days are made of. I think in a way you could call it the essence of the gods. How did you get it out of your scanner?" I shrugged and said "I manipulated my scanner, and from there everything changed. I'm not really sure how it all changed I just know it changed. Why do you say it makes you think of the gods?" She stared at me and said "How much magical theory have you gotten?" I blinked and said "None, I've been relying on instinct to control my magic and it's worked so far." She stared at me and asked "What's your elemental alignment?" I shrugged and she glanced at Amanda who explained "The teachers haven't given him the elemental test yet." She nodded and said "That would explain why you know so little about magic, but that very lack of knowledge seems to allow you to do more than most who know magical theory." I shrugged and she said "So, what are your opinions on the different races?" I smiled slightly and said "Each is unique in it's own way and each tends to have several sub classes to it. Humans and Anthros are really one group that's split, digimon are split into multiple groups, and pokemon are the same way. However the humans and anthros are also split into sub groups. Hybrids are a class all their own except again we have our own sub classes. So in my opinion we're all more similar than dissimilar."

She shook her head and said "Radical ideas like that won't survive long at this school." I smiled slightly and said "We'll find out, I've got friends in each group and I plan on protecting all of them. If that means completely destroying the social order in this school, then so be it." Raze grinned and said "If anyone can pool something like that off, I think it's you." I smiled in appreciation at the compliment, figuring that even if he was just trying to make fun of me I'd use it to boos my confidence rather than let it knock me down. He glanced at Aura who was holding back a laugh and said "No I seriously think that Jake can pull everyone together. He just has that kind of personality, I mean look at what's happening right now. He walked back here and treated you like the intellegent being you are, then talked to me and quite possibly unintentionally made me feel better about being a hybrid." I stared at him surprised and he explained "Most hybrids I've met seem to either base everything off how much like a human you are or how much like an anthro you are. None have just blatantly said they don't care what you're like they themselves are a hybrid." I shook my head cursing the cowards and fools who thought it mattered that a hybrid was more one way or the other. He stared at me and said "So, I'm guessing that you guys are going to talk to the rest of the group now?" I nodded and Amanda said "We'll probably start at the front and work our way back to you guys. So relax for now, but be ready to move when it's time to go. Ok?" They nodded and the two of us headed to the front while I resisted the urge to shake my head at the change in Amanda from her normally bubbly personality to a strict leader.

When we got to the front Danna tackled us and said "Someone's looking for the idiot hybrid sis. She says she's a digimon's partner, and she smells like a tamer to me." I blinked and wondered why she put some venom in tamer and yet curiosity in friend. I didn't have long to think about it however before a girl walked up and said "Hi I'm Adriana, and you must be Jake." I nodded and she continued "I'm the white gabumon Amina's partner." I blinked and said "Nice to meet you Adriana, but why the heck are you and your partner trying to reach me?" She smirked and said "You ended up becoming the leader of this team, did you not?" I nodded and she continued "Then you need to know everything you can about us. I'm a fire mage, and strangely enough Amina is a flame user rather than ice. Most gabumon have a blue flame, hers is white and can burn through anything. Also she seems to have an ability to sense others talents." I raised an eyebrow and she explained "I don't know how she does it, I just know she's doing it." I blinked and she continued "Her eyes change from a light blue to dark green as she does it and it shows up on my scanner." I nodded slowly thinking I was starting to understand then said "Right is that everything?" She nodded and I turned to the others Amanda and Danna. They looked at me questioningly, so I explained "The three of us are going to talk to the others, get their names and their abilities, then arrange the team into groups that will do each job." They blinked then nodded in understanding and started to walk among the others talking to them. I watched them a few minutes then turned back to Adriana and said softly "I want you guys to keep track of the enemy when we meet up with them. For now the only allies we have are the ones in our group, after this is all done you can keep the knowledge or discard it as you wish."

She nodded and said "I'm guessing the same goes for our own team once this is all over." I nodded and she smiled slightly then walked off to meet with her partner who'd been watching me the entire time. I smirked slightly knowing that they'd tried to read my abilities, but not exactly sure how I knew. I shook my head getting irritated with being able to know something, but not knowing how I knew it then started into the middle of the group. I closed my eyes and let my instincts guide me then opened them to find myself face to face with a human, a husky hybrid, and a black gaomon. I blinked as they studied me then the human said "Well looks like the guy who presumed we wanted him as our leader decided to actually talk to us." The other two just studied me silently and I realized they were trying to measure us and see which would be stronger. I sighed softly and said "If you think I'm such a bad leader, then you and I will walk off and have our own test of wills. If you win, I'll step down. If I win however, you step down and don't question my orders unless you think they'll harm someone." He nodded and held out his hand I shook it and said "I'm Jake, Jake Arrows, and you are?" He smirked and said " Lance Davies. I'm on the football team with Robert, who's the horse you slammed in the nose the other day. Not that I'm mad about it, he's always had to big of an ego in my opinion." I grinned and he said "So where do we go?" I pointed farther down the hallway and he nodded then the two of us walked off with the Gaomon and husky following carefully.

I raised an eyebrow and he explained "They are going to watch and report to a few others who had similar feelings to me, who wins. We agreed that I'd be the best person to lead since I've been an able leader quite a few times in the past." I nodded thinking "So they trust him, that makes a slight difference when compared to the fact that I walked forward without even talking to any of them and Dwayne made me the leader. I guess if it were me in this situation I'd feel the same way. Too bad I'm going to have to kick Lance's ass to get the point that I'm top dog in this competition." The black gaomon studied me and said softly "You have more to win and to lose than Lance, so you'll fight harder. However Lance thinks he's in the right so he'll do his best, whatever the outcome I believe the best fighter will win." I smiled at them then blinked as the husky hybrid said "I guess your right Dara, but why are you so sure he has more to lose?" Dara smiled slightly and said " Nina, it's because he's got a dream that he can't obtain except by being top dog. I see it in his eyes and the way he holds himself. I'm curious to see how this fight plays out." Nina nodded and the two of them stepped back a little further as I tossed my cloak and shirt on the ground while Lance rolled up his sleeves.

He raised an eyebrow and said "Why'd you take off your shirt?" I smiled slightly and said "It's to constricting when I move and I have a feeling your an experienced fighter. So, I think I want the extra mobility." He stared at me then laughed and said "You didn't take your shirt off when facing Lady Shandi from what everyone says." I smiled and said "She didn't take me seriously, so I didn't fight as hard as I could. If she wanted to I think that she'd have killed me at the speed I was moving." He stared at me trying to see if I was joking then caught the glint in my eye that usually meant a person was telling the truth and said "Interesting, so you could tell your opponent was playing with you." I nodded and he smiled then said "I won't hold back, if I see an incapacitating blow's opening then I'm taking it." I nodded and the two of us took stances watching each other." The two girls watched us then Nina walked forward and put her hand between us. We glanced at her and she said "When I tell you to go, you can do whatever it is you're going to do. You guys obviously don't plan on making any moves on your own so I'm giving you a reason to go." We nodded in understanding and she sighed then said "Go." while jumping back out of the way. We both waited until she was out of the way then rushed at each other. Lance slammed a blow into my stomach while ducking under a punch I aimed at his face then brought his knee up as I doubled over and nearly broke my nose. I closed my eyes as blood started flowing and trained to regain my bearing then lashed out as he got close and clipped his cheek with the tips of my fingers. I opened my eyes and saw he had gashes going across his face in the same direction my hand had gone.

I blinked and glanced at my hand then smirked when I noticed I'd somehow grown retractable claws. I retracted them slowly then punched Lance in the stomach as he grabbed the side of his face in pain. He stepped back holding his gut in pain then slowly forced himself upright. I grinned slightly and said "Glad my competition can take such a weak punch but it's time to become serious, don't you think?" He nodded and green glow slowly surrounded him as he called upon the energy of the earth. I growled and let both darkness and light surround me as the two of us faced each other and the others backed down to the end of the hallway. He blinked and said "You do realize how dangerous light and dark are?" I nodded slowly then focused the energy of light into my right hand, while my left hand glowed with darkness. He stared at me seeming surprised and I said "If all you've got is earth, then this is going to be to easy." He smirked and said "I'm a magma mage. That means fire and earth are my elements, so let's see how you handle it when I turn up the heat." His body was slowly clothed in flames as the green glow was joined by an exterior red shell. I smirked and the two of us rushed at each other again. The closer I got to Lance the greater the heat coming off of his body became. I felt the beast within me try to rise as the two of us got closer to each other, and slowly forced it back down. When we were about to crash into each other Lance slammed his fists into my sides as I put my hands together and slammed them into his chest knocking him back into the wall. I yelled out in pain as the skin on my sides started to blister and burn even as the force from Lance's blow pushed me back into the wall.

I fell to my knees as a blinding pain came from my back and the beast within me surged forward. I fought against it and as I gained control the pain of the burns decreased. I stared at my sides seeing the imprints of Lance's fists then slowly pushed myself to my feet as the glow of energy faded from my hands. Lance got up and smirked then said "That all you got? One powerful shot and all of your energy passes away? Pathetic. How do you expect to convince anyone to follow you when you can't convince them to follow you through your own strength?" I stared at him and heard the voice say "Well are you going to answer his question, or would you rather hide behind my power?" I growled softly and pushed him away as I had the beast, then got to my feet and said softly "I'm nowhere near done. What about you? A little bit of flame all you got, hot head?" He smirked and a slammed his fists into the earth. He smiled at me darkly and said "Hot Head, huh? Well let's see if you can handle the heat of my next hits." then slowly drew his hands out of the ground revealing a pair of long blades that seemed to be made of molten rock. I blinked as he smirked and the blades shattered to reveal a claw of the same material on each finger, and larger blades coming out of his arms. I stared at him and he said "My magic allows me to combine with my element. That's why I'm the master of the molten blade Lance Davies, or as my runic name goes Lance Striker."

I smiled darkly and said "I've yet to take a runic name. However I'll show you the power of a true hybrid." I let my wings burst out of my back as energy started coalescing around my fists. Nina gasped and Dara shook her head then turned to Nina and said "Are you seeing what I'm seeing?" Nina nodded speechlessly and Dara growled "Damn it, the first ever person to pool life and death into his hands. They'll mark him in ways no one else will understand, but those who are watching this fight will know a small portion of what the ancients understood." Nina nodded and they forced everyone farther back then Dara started getting everyone who had defensive magic to create a barrier between them and us. Lance's grin never faltered he just smirked and said "I've see the true power of a hybrid, the only thing I haven't seen the power of is you. A fool who believes he has the right to lead without proving himself, and will only cause those who follow him to END UP GETTING Killed!!!!" His voice grew louder with each word until finally he was screaming at the end. I finally realized that he didn't see the others in our group as anything other than his friends and comrades. I smiled slightly and the glow increased. He stared at me breathing heavily as the heat from his blades started increasing to the point the walls around was were glowing red. I smiled as the heat just energized me and said "Let's finish this!" He nodded and the two of us rushed at each other one last time. His left hand's claws scored across my chest leaving permanent marks, while his right came up and scored down my right eye. I was barely quick enough to close it and possibly stop permanent damage as I put my fists together and slammed them into his stomach sending him flying into the wall and leaving a permanent marking. He tried to get to his feet, but slowly his energy flowed outward and he fell back to the ground.

He stared at me as his magic's energy seeped into the ground then said "You won, I guess I was wrong about you." I smiled and walked over as the energy faded and my wings vanished then offered him my hand. He stared at it for a second the grasped it and I pulled him to his feet. He used the wall to support himself as he said "Alright commander, what do we do now?" with genuine trust in his voice. The others slowly lowered the barrier as I started to say "I trus...." then fell over holding onto my stomach as I blacked out. I found myself back in the same darkness the voice had originally spoken to me from as it said "So you found a way to control yourself. Amazing, because of your victory I'll grant you another of my abilities. I'll also warn you about your fate if you don't control the beast within. The ability is also one you should already have, but this will increase it. It will allow you to any spell another has cast at any time and know how to counter it. It will also allow you to see into people's hearts and thoughts at whim. These I grant you with the promise that as you grow so will they, and any other abilities you have now, or gain. Now for the second half of my gift, if you don't control the beast it will slowly consume you and you will become the very thing those you trust wish for you to defend them against. I can't tell you how to defeat it, but I can tell you that one who will know that way will come to you when the need is greatest. Now I must send you back whence you came, as your friends are worried about you."

I opened my eyes to see Danna, Amanda, Nina, Dara, and Lance standing over me as Aura and Raze kneeling next to me and pouring their healing energy into me. I smiled at them and they stopped then Raze said "What happened to you? We tried checking you for any sort of injuries, other than those caused by Lance, and only found that your left shoulder, right wrist, and right hand were injured. We healed them and they turned into scars." I smiled slightly and said "I just had a fainting spell from using to much energy, it didn't hurt me. It just forced my body to shut down for a bit. I'm ready to continue whenever you guys are." They slowly allowed me to get up then I turned back to the group and said "Ok I need your names and at least one of your abilities. If I don't can't know how to lead the team properly and may try to give you a command you can't do. If this happens just let me know and I'll send someone else in." They nodded and a blonde human girl walked forward. She smiled at me then pulled her hair back in a ponytail and said "I'm Lisa, my abilities tend to be of the light element, however I'm a journeyman and it turns out my secondary abilities are spirit. I'm a fighter class so my abilities tend to range around minor healing, creating a ball of light, and a solid sword of light that can cut through anything." I grinned and said "Cool all of those can come in handy. If we can find a way to mix your sword with a few other things we could possibly make strong enough equipment to disable the other teams while not killing them and disable the obstacles." She stared at me surprised and I smiled then turned to the rest of the group.

Everyone looked at me and I said "I already know Raze, Danna, Lance, Aura, Amanda, Dara, Nina, Amina, Adriana, and Lisa. I still need everyone else's names." A young guilmon walked forward and said "I'm Darek Flame. I have all of the abilities of my species, and my own special is that I am a mimic mage. I can copy any form of magic and make it into my own." I grinned and said "Cool Welcome to the team Darek. I bet you're abilities will definitely come in handy when we meet the others. Maybe even you can use any of our abilities if we are unable to." He blinked surprised he'd get such a warm welcome then stepped back. A young dragon hybrid girl walked forward and said "I'm Laurana. My abilities are primarily a mix of fire and wind. I'm only a journeyman mage, but my main teacher says with a few more tests I can at least make it to master level." She glanced at Lance then said "I'm in the same class as the flame mage Lance Striker. He's the second in command of my class and has shown me how to combine the elements. I know he's a loyal fighter, and that once you've earned his friendship you have it for life. So, what I'm trying to say is that since he trusts you, I trust you." She glanced at the floor as if afraid to see what was going to happen next. So, I smiled at her then walked over and lifted her head then said softly "It takes a lot of effort to say something like that to someone you don't know. I'm glad you I have someone as brave as you on my team. " She stared at me surprised then I turned and walked back out in front of everyone.

I smiled slightly and said "Almost everyone's given me their names. I just need the last few people's name's so I can know everyone in our team and we can work more effectively. I won't force anyone to do anything I wouldn't do, nor anything they refuse to do. With that said please give me your names." A young bayleef who must have only recently evolved walked forward and said "I'm Brian. My abilities are all nature based. I'm glad to have someone who cares about his team as my commander, and until this is over you have my complete trust." I smiled at him in thanks then blinked as a furret girl walked forward I stared at her as Amanda whispered in my ear "I forgot to mention some of those pokemon were pokemon hybrids." I turned to her and said softly "That would have been helpful!" She shrugged and Danna just smirked as the girl said "I'm Rikara. My abilities are those of the pokemon furret, and I can use spirit magic." I smiled at her then said with genuine sincerity "Thanks for letting everyone know that Rikara. I bet you've got tricks up your sleeve like the pokemon you resemble, but I'm still glad you revealed what you did." She smiled and stepped back as a Haunter floated forward and said "Name's Jackson. I've got all my race's normal abilities plus I can use dark magic." I smiled at him slightly liking his no nonsense attitude. He floated back into the group after looking me in the eyes for a while. I shook my head my smile turning into a smirk knowing that he was remembering me incase I ever betrayed him.

Suddenly a Manectric rushed forward and said "My name is Fang. My abilities are all electricity based, including my magic. If you betray any of us I'll be one of the ones who takes you down. However if you prove we can trust you then should you ever call on me I'll try to come." I smiled slightly and said "Nice to meet you Fang. I'm proud to have someone who takes loyalty so highly on my team." then my voice turned darker and I said "However if you betray any of us I'll be the one who shows you how much I value loyalty." He smirked and walked back into the group after nodding. I sighed as I watched him go, then blinked when a dragonair moved forward and said "I'm Risa. My element is dragon, and as for magic I can do a little bit of everything. It's nice to meet you Jake, and I'm curious to see how you'll do as the leader of our group." I smiled and said "Thank you Risa. You're the last one to give me your name, but with that we've got everyone. Now I guess it's time we move forward and finish this stupid test." They nodded and we all started forward as I silently wondered what would happen next.

To Be Continued in Part 2......................

Well there's part 1 I'm working on Chapter two even as we speak, but I felt I should seperate this chapter into two parts. Before I continue I have to let you guys know who all helped me in this chapter. Several of the characters including Dasher, Dwayne, Sixta, Shandi, Mac, and others were used with their owner's permission which I will mention those copyrights in part 2. However in this chapter I need to mention that all digimon and pokemon are copyrighted to their creators and those that are licensed to use them. Hope you enjoyed part one and see you at part two, with my usual question time.
