Okay, here's my submission for the Dragon's Lair Contest, and also a over due submission after my long...well I wouldn't say break from writing as much as avoiding it. Being lazy and simply having lost my writing spirit for sometime. Hopefully it will return...soon. Anyways, with out further dallies of my personal life I present you a tale of pure fantasy.

Under the Pale Light

The morning light broke through the stray mist as the fields of Balemeth started to sparkle with the seemingly infinite dew drops. I open the door from the barn and took in the chilled air. My lungs filled with the wonderful air as the day started. I padded over to the basin and took a drink of the clean waters. My reflection wavered as a blurred wolf looked back at me. I let out a sigh as I fixed my messy head fur, patting down the gray fur that refused to yield to pressure. With a scoop of water, it quickly fixed itself. Before I could leave the barn, the kind old cow that owned the farm was already at the door waiting on me.

"Sleep well, traveler?" she asked with kind, old eyes.

I stretched a bit and yawned, "It was the best sleep I've had in weeks, thank you for your hospitality,"

"Oh no, please, it was my pleasure, I don't get many visitors these days, and certainly none as strapping and young as you," she said with a smile.

I could feel my cheeks grow warm a bit as I smiled back and rubbed the back of my head, "Thank you, but as I said, I must soon be on my way,"

"After all the help on the farm, please take these before you go," she said as she handed me a small bag, "Some food for the road, it was the least I can do,"

"Miss, you've done plenty for a stranger such as I, but thank you again for your generosity," I said, accepting the bag. It was only a day, but I managed to help her fix almost everything that was broken on her farm. She was lonely, since her husband passed, but she had a warm heart that could make the sun rise and didn't let it keep her from working the farm on her own.

"Please, take care on your travels, and I hope you find what you seek," she said as she gave me a small hug before parting. I closed the barn doors behind me and headed towards the trail that passed her land, outside the small village. It's been months since I started my journey. I've listened everywhere, looking for the one. The one who saved me the night raiders burned my village and killed my family. Everyone says that I was troubled, that no such being exist, but I know he's out there, just like the night, he would be waiting in the pale light.

I've traveled through the kingdom, doing odd jobs to make enough money to feed myself. I camped out almost every night, in hopes that I might find him. I had made it far today after leaving the farm. I opened up my bag and smiled as I picked up one of the large sandwiches packed by the kind cow. I bit into it, and sighed, feeling the cold of the night start to creep onto my fur. I poked at the small fire in front of me, watching the embers jump from the wet branches. I grabbed more wood and tossed it onto the flames. As I ate my meal, the clouds above started to drift off, revealing the moon. I kept my eyes in the skies; slowly the twinkle of the vast stars bathed the sea of darkness. I shivered and wrapped my tail around my knees. My makeshift tent held strong as I thought about an early night. I looked at the moon as it hung in the air, like a suspended orb of silver light. I watched a thin cover of clouds drift on by, my eyes opened wide for a moment. I sighed as I watched the clouds continue to drift by, how much longer would it be?

Eventually the fire became small coals as I crawled into my tent and wrapped myself in my blanket. I drifted off and dreamed. Dreamed of a time not too long ago, when I was a teenager. My small village was attacked. Bandits and raiders came seeking to pillage what our lands had to offer. My family was slaughtered while trying to escape. I watched in horror as my father was impaled by a spear and my mother was cut down in front of my own eyes, our home burning in the background. Tears welled up as I looked at the wicked lion, ready to bring the bloody axe freshly pulled from my mother's corpse onto my own head. I closed my eyes and waited for the end. Slowly they opened as everything grew quiet, and there he stood. With scales pale as the light shining from the moon, a great figure towering over me and the lion. He stopped the blade of the axe with one claw and simply snapped it as if it were a twig.

The lion roared and called for the others. They circled us, I sat on the ground, watching the blood thirsty scoundrels brandish their weapons. My savior paid them no mind as he simply walked forward. The lion pulled a knife and lunged. It looked like he had completely missed as he fell to the ground, covered in blood. The being turned, and I saw his face. Long and old, his eyes glowed golden like mine. Wings from his back spread wide and suddenly gale swept over the village, putting out fires and pushing out all those unfortunate enough to not find something to hold on to. He turned to the remaining bandits, and made a small gesture for them to attack, but not one dared to move. They turned and ran, ran far into the night, away from the ashes that were my village. The benevolent being turned and stared back at me, I winced as I saw a claw approach me. Instead of a cold sharpness, I felt a soft warmness as he wiped my tears away and easily picked me up off the ground. I leaned into him, my mind swirled, trying to make sense of what just happened. My last memory was the moon in the sky, and clouds around me, flowing like a river, and then I fell, I fell from the heavens.

I woke up in fright as if I had hit the ground. My paws shot to feel my chest, feeling my heart race. I took a deep breath and calmed myself before opening my tent to the morning sun. I packed up camp and started on my way again. A small mountain loomed in the distance. I could easily navigate around it, but something deep inside me told me to climb. I decided to listen to it and go. If not for hopes of finding him, then at least it would bring me to a high point to scan the surrounding areas. I made my way up toward the mountain after finishing the last of the food given to me by the cow. The day burned by as I climbed the rocky slopes.

Soon night fell, and I looked around, but there were no feral creatures that I could trap for a meal. My stomach growled as I continued my quest. It was soon dark, and I had only made it up half way on the mountain. Suddenly the sweet smell of roasted fowl filled my nostrils. I searched for the scent, in hopes that there was another traveler willing to share some dinner. I followed the smell to a small plateau. There I could see the flickering lights of a camp fire. I could already taste the meat as I climbed over the small ledge. There sat two figures, watching the flames as their meal cooked. I started to walk over, announcing myself as I moved. They turned and I stopped.

"Hello," they said as they stood. I could see their faces in the light of the fire. I froze dead in my tracks. Those faces, I would never forget them, etched into my mind's eye like a carving. They look less threatening without the blood on their faces. They were part of the group that raided my village. I stood there, looking at the two, one a thin coyote, and the other a fat, short bear. I watched them look at each other before turning back to me. I started to step back, hoping they didn't get to see my face. I turned and ran in fear, praying that they didn't recognize me.

I almost yelped as an arrow flew by my ear. I ducked and continued to run, not daring to look back. "Oh shit!" I cried as I started to run down hill. Fate must have felt un-amused as I fan for my life, only to trip on a stone jutting from the earth. The world around me crumbled as I fell. I rolled against the hard, rocky ground. I stood up slowly, covered in cuts and scrapes only to fall down again as something tackled me from behind.

"Well, what do we have here?" said a deep, raspy voice. I turned my head to see the large bear pinning me down, drawing a blade. I whimpered as I tried to scramble away.

"Get off me!" I protested.

"Well, lookie here, Jim. It's one of them survivors from that raid we did couple years ago."

"Hehe, nice catch there, he'll sell for a pretty penny on the market, hurry up and get him tied up, dinner's getting cold," said a squeaky voice I could only assume was the coyote.

"Mmm, this one's a cutie," said the bear as he started to bind my paws. I struggled and bit at him, but was only rewarded with a hard punch to my muzzle. I whined as I tasted a trickle of blood in my muzzle. As soon as he finished with my paws he gagged me with a dirty cloth and dragged me back to their camp. Tears stained under my eyes as I laid near the fire as they ate their food and tossed bones and scraps at me. They finished quickly and wiped their dirty paws on my fur.

"Mmm, maybe we should start breaking him in tonight," said the bear as he hovered over my shivering form.

"Aww come on, we're not gonna ruff you up...too much," chuckled the coyote. "Come on, be a good bitch, I want first in his muzzle," he said taking a step closer, ripping the cloth from my maw. I whimpered as he gripped my by the collar and pulled me up. "You bite, and I'll rip out each tooth in that pretty little mouth of yours,"

I kept crying, images of my village burned in my mind, death and rape all around me. Through the puddle of tears in my eyes, I could make out the moon in the sky. 'I've searched for you, and once again I need you now, please...please' I let out a long howl into the night.

"Hehe, what you howling fer? Ain't no one gonna hear ya out here, now how bout you start liftin that tail of yers," said the bear as he came up from behind, pulling my tail roughly. "Mmhm, gonna breed you goo..." suddenly a strong breeze blew by and I felt the paw on my tail disappear. I tried to look, but the coyote still held me tight.

"What kinda trick is this?!" he yelled, I whimpered, in a flash of steel, he held a blade against my neck. "Come out, show yourself unless you want me to dye this bitch's fur crimson," he yelled. I gulped as I felt the coyote press the blade tighter against my neck. I let out a yelp as the blade grazed against my skin.

"Let him go," said a deep, echoing voice.

"No chance, you don't leave now, I'll cut his head clean off," I felt the coyote pull me in circles as he looked around for my savior.

"Last chance, let him go," the voice said once more.

"Well you just signed his death wa...rr," the coyote's words trailed off as he let me go to deal with the large claw holding his body off the ground by his head. I backpedalled as I watched the coyote twitch till his body became still.

There he stood, the one I've been seeking for the past few years. He looked down at me as he let the coyote go, letting his body drop to the ground, coughing violently. I sat there frozen, my eyes locked with his. A soft glow seemed to eminate from those golden yellow eyes. He held out a paw to me, and before I realized, my paw was already out, gripping his. The scales felt as soft as flesh against my paw as he pulled me up without effort. The bandit was standing up slowly but we were both suddenly gone.

The only thing I remembered was the warm body that held me tight as the land below us passed by like a flowing river. At the top of a mountain, we landed. He set me down with great care and turned around. I looked at the figured, bathed in moonlight. I finally found my thoughts once more, "You...twice now, you've saved me,"

"Yes, you were young back then, and now you've grown up and chose to live to find me."

"How did you..." I started.

"I've watched you, since that day, I knew there was something special about you," he said.

"But...wait, you knew I was looking for you? Why didn't you come for me?"

"Why did you seek me out?"

"Wait, my question, why..."

"Answer me first, please," he said in a stern tone. "Why did you seek me out?"

"I...I wanted to thank you," I stopped as he turned around quickly, his wings making a small gust as it blew past me.

"Why do you seek me?"

"Because I wanted to repay..." I felt a gust of wind knock me down.

"Answer me wolf, why do you seek me out?" he said in a booming voice. I was so confused. This wasn't at all how I thought it would have turned out. I felt tears well up, unable to find the answer to his question. I don't know, why am I seeking him out, he never asked for thanks, he didn't stick around to be a hero. I looked back into his gaze, and studied him carefully. The moon made his scales glow just like the first night we ever met. He hadn't aged a day since then and there was something so familiar about his eyes, something that I've seen before. I realized then where I recognized it. He had the same colored eyes as I did, but there was something deeper behind them, hidden to the world, except to me. It was then I unlocked the meaning in our gazes, he gave me the answer.

"Because you...you are the one," I saw a flash of his fangs as he grinned.

"Yes young one, you know now don't you? Ever since that day I saved you, you were destined to grow up, and be mine," he said as he walked towards me. A claw gently rested on my shoulder as he stood over me, looking down, locking his gaze in mine. I could see it in the reflection of his iris, my own eyes were glowing now. We stood under the moon, our bodies resonating with an ancient force. He leaned down, a claw tip gently guiding my chin up and he pressed his scaled lips against mine. I felt my head swim in a sea of unlocked emotions.

Full of strange feelings, my body pressed against his as I felt his muscles ripple under the scales. My fur stood on end as I felt something hot press against my belly. His lips parted slightly and a long tongue pushed into my muzzle, invading my maw as it searched for my own tongue and began to wrap around it. I felt something tingle in my groin as he held me close. I couldn't even think about the situation as I felt him lift me with one arm and started to walk off, not breaking the kiss.

My body felt strange as it pressed against the dragon's. Something so familiar about it, however my thoughts fled me as I felt him slowly lift me, feeling my body fall back gently onto a bed of soft moss. I shivered as I felt something hot press right under my tail. His golden eyes looked down into mine, captivating me as he made his entrance into my body. Like a master key into a lock, I felt all my defense drop like they were nothing. In one swift motion, he pushed his whole length into my tight hole. I felt no pain, but the soft pulse of another living being inside me. It felt...natural, my sense were dazed as he kissed me again.

Breaking the kiss with a silver strand of salava, he muttered into my ear. "Nashor...let my name sink into your mind."

With that last word, he pushed against me, forcing my body to arc in pleasure as my own wolf hood stood erect, shining with a thick coat of pre. "I...ah.. I am Dess," I sighed as I leaned forward, only to fall back as he pulled up my hips, letting my legs fall to his sides as he easily adjusted my body onto its side and laid over me, pumping away. "Oh gods..N...Nash...Nashor!" I cried out as his thick member grazed something inside me that felt like electricity jolting through my body.

"Yes...Dess, my mate," he hissed softly into my ear as my body rocked like the ocean waves under his large form. "Soon...soon," he whispered, gently stroking my crown as I felt his pace pick up faster. I could hear his body slapping against my cheeks. His member must have been leaking inside me the entire time, because I could hear the soft smacks of his hips matting my furry rump.

"Oh....ng...." I could no longer find words as my muscles tugged in every direction, my body shook as I spilled my seed. Wave after wave of wolf cum sprayed from my member as I soon felt the hot torrent of my mate's own seed start to fill my bowels. I groaned softly as he continued to hump into me, pressing deeper and deeper with each thrust. Soon I felt pressure start to build up. A clawed hand reached down and gently stroked my belly as it started to swell with so much seed.

"Shh, it's almost over my love," he wooed as I closed my eyes and felt his head press against mine. He held me, gently rubbing my tummy as he finished with one final push, keeping his length hilted in my depths.

"So..f..full," I sighed as he rolled us over, letting me lay on his chest as he held me in his arms. Stuck upon his rod, we basked in the afterglow of our courting. Staring up at the stars and seeing the pale light of the moon bathe us in its light.

I was on the brink of sleep as I felt something nibble on my ear. "My mate, prepare yourself,"

"Prepare? For what?" I asked lazily, my eyes closed and words seemed to go in and out.

It sounded like Nashor chuckling, "Prepare dear, prepare to start a family," he said as he continued to rub my swollen belly. I drifted off, thinking it must be some strange dream. Little did I know of the new life growing inside of me.
