One year later...

Ken stood in front of the mirror as he brushed his headfur with his paw and looked at the reflection of himself with a sullen look. He brushed over his muzzle as he looked at the false canine teeth that had been put in before he turned around to look at the scenery moving past.

"You okay?" Jim looked briefly at Ken as he returned his gaze back to the country road as Ken turned to look back at the other wolf who was driving and he nodded his head to the question. "I mean, you sure you're okay in doing this. He did put you through this. Could always bring the pack along and deal with him."

Ken frowned before his facial features collapsed in on itself as he shook his head. "Jim, we talked about this, I attacked him first, he was in his right to do so." Ken leant back as he felt the headrest press against the back of his head and closed his eyes. "I'm thankful for it."

"You're what? Thankful?" Jim glanced and saw the frown that Ken was giving him at that moment and sighed, nodded his head. "I know, we had this argument before, but..." Jim gripped at the steering wheel more as he continued on. "You're just a major part of my life now, the packs and we don't like anything bad that has happened to our pack, that's all."

Ken nodded his head. "What's done is done. And I need to do this if I'm to move on from my old life." Ken looked away as he watched the fields roll past the vehcle as Jim didn't reply but remained silent, both sinking back into their own thoughts.

After a short while, Ken looked about as he felt the car slow down and turn into another road as Jim gave a soft growl. "We're here, you want me to come in with you?"

Ken shook his head. "Something I have to do on my own." Jim nodded as he stopped the car and turned to face Ken as he placed a paw onto the side of his head. "I'm here if you need me." Ken nodded as he leant over and kissed Jim on the muzzle quickly. "I know, but I got to do this if I'm to become mates. The alpha said no past regrets. I doubt I be long."

Jim nodded as Ken reached over and pulled on the level as he pushed the door open and stepped out onto the tarmac and looked about before he pushed the door closed and started to head towards the house. Ken splayed his ears back as he reached for the gate and opened it. After he took a deep breath in he nodded and walked over to the door and knocked on it three times.

"Yeah I'm coming." A voice came from the other side as the door opened and a otter blinked as he looked back at the wolf standing there and nodded his head. "Right... Come in..." Ken nodded his head as he stepped over the threshold and glanced back as Quinn closed the door behind him, giving a glance to another wolf frowning withint he car before the door obscured that view.

"Follow me." Quinn said as he pushed past and went into another room as he nodded with a motion of his paw. "You can sit down if you want." Ken looked about but he nodded to the otter as he sat down in a chair and looked about again. "Where's the mouse?"

Quinn sat down as he frowned. "He didn't want to see you, you understand of course." Ken nodded his head as he fumbled about with his paws. "Look, what happened...."

"We know what happened, you came in and attacked us." Quinn said, his voice remaining calm though Ken could feel a slight hint of danger as the otter flashed his sharp molars briefly.

Ken bit his lower lip as he spoke out, looking at the otter now into his eyes. "I know that, I really do and it was wrong of me." Ken paused as he got his thoughts together and then carried on. "Look, I don't blame you what you did, it was lawful and you had the right." Quin nodded his head as Ken continued on.

"There won't be any reprocussions from this from the pack I'm in, they respect my judgement on the matter. I was in the wrong, I got punished and I'm here to say I'm sorry for attacking you and whoever else was here at the time." Ken continued to look at Quinn who moved his head to the side in thought and he looked down expecting the worst.

"I heard what happened..." Quinn said after a short while. "And at the time I was angry enough to actually want it at first but, I've never liked dealing with that kind for the slaves." Quinn got up as he walked over to the fireplace and on the shelf he picked up a photograph of a mouse and looked it at while he talked. "But you attacked me and one of my best I had here. If you had come anytime sooner I would have done something different but..." He ran a webbed finger over the picture frame and gave a small smile. "Someone taught me something regardless."

Quinn placed the picture back onto the mantle piece as he turned to face Ken again and walked over before he held out a webbed paw. "Apology accepted, what has been done is done and I'm sorry for what happened to you in return."

Ken blinked and took the paw as he nodded his head and shook it. Quinn smiled. "So, what made you change your ways?" Ken looked to the window and back again. "Well, what I went through I don't want to ever go through that again... But there's someone else."

"I noticed him." Quinn said as he looked to the window himself as he let go of the paw and moved away so that Ken felt more comfortable again. "Don't think he agrees?"

"I don't think he likes someone has hurt someone, even indirectly that he loves." Ken said back after a moments pause. "About the mouse?"

Quinn turned his head to look at the photograph again and smiled. "He forgave but is too busy these days to make it here. You can leave without any baggage of the past."

Ken nodded as he stood up and Quinn turned to face him again. "Off so soon?" Ken nodded his head. "I see, well I'm glad you have come and apologised. Be well for what comes in your future, hmm?" Quinn motioned to the door and led Ken back to the front door of which he opened and Ken stepped back out into the fresh air again.

Quinn watched as Ken paused and looked back and he gave a soft smile and a nod before Ken nodded back and turned back again, walked to the car and opened the door to face a puzzled look on Jim's face.

"And?" Jim asked as Ken settled into his seat, pulled the seatbelt around him and clicked it in, which made Jim whine as he asked again. "Come on, what happened?"

"We're going to have to go through that ritual afterall." Ken said with a sullen look at the start which turned into a wicked grin by the end. "He accepted." Jim barked and wrapped his arms about Ken as he cried with joy. Ken smirked as Jim wiped his brow with an arm and slowly they reversed back out before driving off.

Quinn watched from the window of his room before he moved back to the photograph of Timmy and nodded at it. "Always with the positive look on life..."

The phone rang as Quinn frowned, walked over and lifted up the handset. "Yes, Quinn here... You sure... I see... Nothing I can do then..? Yeah, put it up for sale... The slaves...? Oh right, so they be here tomorrow to check on stock... Yeah, I be here... Bye."

Quinn placed the handset down and sat down as he shook his head. "Hmm, change..." He looked at the photograph again and smiled. "At least you got out."
