Ch 8

When Things Fall Apart

Once I and Nero got to the hospital I ran straight into the emergency room, Nero following close behind. Nero grabbed my wrist and held me in place before I could walk through the sliding doors. I tried to wiggle my wrist free but Nero had a stronger grip than I thought. He looked at me, his piercing sky blue eyes looking in to mine. The look on his face told me to calm down and not panic. Once I was less tense Nero walked me in, still holding my wrist, but not as tightly. We walked past the nurses' station and Nero nodded to them and kept walking to Nigel's room.

Nero opened sliding door and I walked in. I tried to get free from Nero's grasp but he just tightened his grip again restraining me so I did not jump on Nigel's body making any more damage to it. I looked at Nigel then back at Nero.

"Nero let me go......... please!" I said starting to tear up. Seeing this he pull me to him and hugging tightly, like I was his only living thing on earth that mattered to him.

"I'm sorry Ryan I can't do that, he is hurt pretty badly plus he is still a little unstable. I'm so sorry." He said starting to tear up as well. He hugged me tighter and I hugged him back and buried my head in his chest crying softly. After a few minutes I looked up at Nero then to Nigel.

"Can we go I can't stand seeing him like this." I said staring at the ground.

"Yea, sure thing." Nero said as he let go of me and we moved to the door. Nero looked at the nurses' station and called for a nurse. "Hey Michel, can you call me if there are any changes to Nigel in room 5."

"Yea I can do that Nero. He is in good hands." Said the nurse

"Thanks." When we left the hospital Nero drove me home.

The car stopped in front of my house and I got out and ran up the steps running into the house and up to my room. My sisters were on the couch laughing at the sight of me running up to my room. My father heard all the commotion and went to the family room to see what it was.

"What the hell is with all the noise?" he yelled. At that time Nero walked in to the house.

"Mr. Raven I have some bad news. Your son Nigel is in the hospital and is in critical condition. We were jumped in the club we went to this afternoon, by a gang of teens that live around here that hate Crossbreeds and hybrids." Nero said as he stared my father in the face and my sisters just gasped at the news. They got up and left the room to tell my mother, who was in the basement.

"I knew that you were no good. I shouldn't have ever let you and Nigel to be friends in the first place." My father yelled.

"What ..... What are you talking about how was I suppose to know that that gang would be there?"

"I don't like your tone Nero. Get OUT OF MY HOUSE."

"You're mental." Nero said in a questioning tone. That was when my father had enough; he grabbed Nero by the scruff of his neck and picked him up. There was no use in fighting back and Nero knew that. My father walked to the door through it open and threw Nero to the side walk five steps down from the door. The husky landed on his feet luckily and looked back to the door were the angry tiger stood and said "And don't let me ever see you again you little BITCH." And with that he slammed the door.

"Oh HELL I told Nigel that I would look after Ryan. I think that this just made things worse for Ryan!" Nero looked up to see that I was in the window and he mouthed "I will get you out of there somehow." And with that he turned and headed to his car.

Back in my room I watched him go and I could hear the yelling of my father and mother 'discussing' what had happend. The only thing that I could do was put my back to the headboard of my bed, tuck my legs to my chest, wrap my arms around them and bury my face in my knees.
