The Promised Lad

, , , , , , , , ,

As the war in the southern lands intensifies, a king is forced to make a harsh decision to save his kingdom. But what will happen when someone comes in to cash the reward he had promised?

Loud voices and metallic clanks resonated among the walls as several groups of people sparred, chatted, and drank with each other. Foxes, squirrels, raccoons, and many other species went on with their day-to-day life, only paying a passing glimpse to the robed couple walking along their ranks.

"I don't think this a good idea," the smaller of the two robed figures said.

"Nonsense," the bigger figure replied.

The smaller man slowly waded through the muddy terrain, barely able to keep the pace. "It's just, this is so denigrating. You're treating them like objects," William said.

The bigger figure took an abrupt stop and turned around. "As the heir to the throne, you should know by now that sometimes sacrifices are needed." The king turned back again and continued on his journey, the prince following shortly behind. "Besides, the blood of a strong warrior will just help strengthen our lineage."

William relented. That could be true, yes, but that did not mean that he had to like the idea. But even if he did, he knew that there was nothing much he could do about it. Not only because of how stubborn his father could be, but because the was with the southern kingdom had lasted for longer than anyone could remember (or at the very least, longer than he had been alive), and any methods to try to get a temporary peace had failed.

It was time for desperate measures.

The king and his heir took off their hoods after reaching the wolf leader's tent, letting out their long and fluffy ears from their temporary prison. William just looked as the older rabbit went on to greet the Alpha wolf before starting on with his speech.

Whoever was brave enough, strong enough, to kill the lizard king and bring back his head would get the honor of marrying into his house. While some would take this offer as meaning that one day they could become king themselves, that was not the case. William was the natural heir being the oldest son, and after him were all his younger brothers. If they were all to fall, any male descendants that they had would be the ones on the race. It'd be a long shot before any of his sisters' kids would get a chance at ruling, and even then, whoever they wed would only be king until their children came of age.

The king put his hood on again and left the tent, letting the Alpha share the news with his people. Then he started his way to the next camp, and then the next, and so forth...

"Do they also need to know?"

The father shushed the boy and pulled him aside, looking around to make sure there was no one nearby. "You better keep those thoughts to yourself, son. You know how they can be..."

William just nodded. Badgers were well-known for the uncontrollable rage and bloodlust they showed in the battlefield. Encountering one in battle meant almost certain death, and even if you managed to defeat your foe, you would not be able to find it out until the battle was over and they stopped being powered by their rage.

"Still--"

The king put his paw on the prince's mouth, silencing him as a pair of badgers walked behind them and entered the camp. Once they were out of view, he took his paw off before reprimanding his son again. We would have been conquered long ago, were it not for them. Your fur nothing more than a belt for the Lizard king! He reminded him.

William could only nod, but still, he could not come to terms with the thought of using his sisters like if they were cattle, and shuddered at the thought of what would happen to them if one of these brutes were the one to claim the reward...

The pair entered the badger leader's tent where the latter greeted them, or so William thought. Unlike everyone else in his father's army, badgers did not seem to know how to speak common language. Or bathe, from what he'd heard, and judging by the drunk pair nearby who were having sex, no manners either. In fact, their prowess in battle was the only thing they seemed to excel at, and most species were more than glad to leave them alone to do whatever-it-is-they did in the North. As long as they did not try to encroach in their territories, that is.

William looked around. Barbarians all of them, and he wished that his father had not bothered to hire them, even if his own blood's fate was not on the line. He continued looking when he noticed one specific badger leaning against one of the tent's pillars.

The badger was dressed like all the rest. Only a cloak, boots, and a codpiece; all from what seemed to be leather, and the rabbit did not want to think whose. The only thing that separated him from the rest, besides his impressive size, was a black eyepatch covering his right eye. From the look of it, the badger had been sharpening a dagger, but he was now staring intensely at him. He then lowered one hand and...

William quickly turned back. The knave! He'd have him executed were it not that he did not want to antagonize a tent full of his ilk. Trying to move as little as possible, he tried to steal a glimpse at the badger. He seemed to be smiling.

As soon as they were out of this godforsaken place, he'd be sure to tell his father everything and see it that the badger was punished. No one mocked the royal family and get away with it!

William sat on the throne next to his father's. It used to be for the queen, but she had died a few years ago from a disease. Ever since then, the young rabbit had taken it for himself to watch his father and learn how he rules. Today, two noble families were discussing a transgression or another. Someone's tree had grown over to the other's property, or a forbidden love between the families, or someone's honor had been_stained_ after a servant dropped a pitch of water on them, or something else.

The longer the day went on, the more all of these audiences started to blur together. It would have been just another boring day, but then the doors flung open and a small squad of badgers made their way inside the throne room.

"What is the meaning of this?" The king asked, before the badgers stepped aside to let one more of their own move forward. The big brute then threw a sack at the king's feet from which a small object rolled off.

It was the Lizard king's head.

William could barely turn his gaze away from the lizard, but the court's gossiping brought him back to his senses. He then looked at the man who had brought it. Even though a few months had gone by, there was no mistake. It was the same eyepatch badger that had mocked him before.

The king rejoiced and approached the badger. "Congratulations, my fair man, but if I may ask, where's your leader?"

The badger stayed there, not sure how to respond. He turned back to his kin and spoke something in their language before turning back towards the king. "He... not here." He then pulled both of his fists closer before quickly opening his paws. William guessed that meant an explosion or something similar.

"Oh, well, I'm really sorry about that."

The badger, the rest of his group, and the king all lowered their heads in a somber way, but before the king could say anything else, the eyepatch badger spoke again.

"I... reward?"

The king grimaced. He had hoped to negotiate with the badger leader, or any of the other Alphas, instead of with the rank and file, but he had no choice in the matter. Not if he wanted to retain his honor amongst his subjects.

All the king's daughters assembled.

There was Anne, the oldest. She had married before, but the king assured the badger that she had not been soiled. Her former husband had fallen in the war with the southern kingdom before they could spend their first night together. All lies, and everyone in the court knew about it, but no one dared to contradict the king. In public, that is.

There was also Marie. She was the daughter of one of the king's many mistresses, but that did not change her position in the court, or so the king said. She was still of age and the king emphasized on how many suitors were looking for hand, which William did not know if it was to make the badger pick her or dissuade him from it.

Then there was Jane, and Isabella, and Joanna, and many other princesses all which their own share of accolades. Last but not least was Victoria. Oh, poor Victoria, William thought. The poor girl had just had her debutante, but she still felt like a baby on William's eyes.

"Well, take your pick." The king had a smile on his face, but anyone who knew him could tell that he was feeling defeated.

The badger looked undecided, but when his eyes glossed over Victoria, William stood from the throne. There was no way he'd allow her to fulfill his father's stupid promise. He tried to approach the badger, but the king stopped him on his trail.

The king then looked back and saw the badger pointing at them. Even if he didn't speak their language, the king was sure that the badger could tell what William intended to do, and he would do anything to ensure that his heir, and son, did not die at the hands of one of the brutes from the North.

"Oh, but where are my manners?" The king tried to deescalate. "I'm sure you and the rest of your... warriors must be exhausted after your many battles. Come, let's celebrate, and we can talk about all of this later."

The badger looked even more confused than before, but once the word party had been said, the warriors all started to cheer and headed out, soon followed behind by the king, his heir, and the rest of the court.

Under normal circumstances, this sort of event would have taken place in the victors' camp, but the king knew how much people trembled in the badgers' presence. In fact, he also felt unease at the thought of being surrounded by them and their weapons while only few of his men could be present in case things got ugly. Sure, the badgers were uncouth and callous, but at least in the banquet hall they would be in the minority.

While most of the king's sons gave the badgers a run for their money when it came to manners, William sat in silence along with his sisters. At the head of the table, his father and the eyepatch badger continued to talk as the latter stole glances at the table where he was sitting. To think that tonight one of his sisters would be defiled by that brute, and all for what? Just a stupid promise his father had made.

One glance too many, William decided that he had enough and approached his father. The king had that false smile he always made when nervous, while the badger had a peeved look on his face. "May we talk?"

"Sure." The king looked back at the badger. "Just give us a moment."

The badger tried to say something, but stopped, and just watched as the pair left, but William could almost say that his face had softened after he had arrived. Once they were out of earshot, the king spoke again.

"Something the matter, son?" The king said, already bracing himself for what he knew his son would say.

"Father, it's just... is there really no other way? Maybe there's something else we could offer them. Land? Grain? Anything else?"

"William, I tried." The king sighed and looked down. As much as William tried, he could not remember a time when his father had looked so defeated. Not even when his mother died... "My plan was to negotiate with their leader, but with him gone, I tried. I've offered him our best horses, coin, even his own county, and he has rejected all of them."

"What about--"

"It won't change anything, William. He said he has no need of them, and he, their people, well, they value things different than us."

"So, there's nothing we can do about it then?"

The placed one hand on his son's shoulder before pulling him for a hug. "Don't worry," he whispered, "it won't be for long."

William broke the hug and looked puzzled at his father.

"They, their people, tend to make their living out of pillaging and going out on expeditions for other kingdoms. It won't be long before he leaves again and never returns." Just like Anne's husband.

"But who knows how long it'll be before that?"

"Sooner than you think." The king smiled. "In fact, he was just telling me that he was leaving tomorrow for another one." William still was not sure about this, but the king patted him on the shoulder. "It'll just be one night, son. After that, all our problems will be solved."

The king patted him again and walked back to the badger, his son on his heels. Once they were back, the badger looked attentively at the king.

"I... reward?"

The king forced the same smile and nodded. "Yes, you'll get your reward."

The badger suddenly got up and grabbed William, pulling him closer into a hug before grabbing his mug from the table. He then shouted something and raised his mug followed by the rest of his kin. He took a long sip from it before pressing it against the rabbit, a smile all over his face.

William looked at the badger. He was not sure if this was just a way of celebrating, or if the guy was just trying to share his happiness with his new brother-in-law, but it seemed like he wanted him to drink from it as well. It's just one night, he thought before grabbing the mug and taking a drink from it, followed by even more cheering.

It was hard.

The king tried to quell down the rambunctious celebration, with slow but eventual success, until at last everything went silent again. "Now, now, let's not get over ourselves," he said while addressing the whole court, "So, about your reward..."

"Marry... okay. No?"

William felt as the badger pulled him into an even tighter hug. His father then spoke again.

"Oh no, don't get me wrong. Marry okay. But first, if you may, who will you be choosing?"

The badger was nonplussed. He raised his free paw and at William, his claw barely touching the male.

The king's face started to lose color as the court gossiped all around. "There has to be a mistake. I said--"

"You said that whoever brought you the Lizard king's head would be able to marry any of your children," the Alpha wolf shouted. The other species' leaders nodded along. "Your majesty," he said before bowing, hiding the smile on his face.

Were he not the king, he would have taken back that promise. No way in hell would he let his son to endure such travesty. Hir first-born son!... But alas, before being a father, he was a king.

He knew it.

His people knew it.

But more than anyone else, William knew it.

With no other choice, the king gave the couple his blessing. William could see as the troops, the other nobles, and even the king's men sneered at him. Meanwhile, the badger pulled him even closer and started to say things in his language. His rank, alcohol-scented, breath washing all over his face...

The party went on until late at night when William and his husband made the way to his room. Ever since the announcement, the brute had been all over him, trying to touch him even when others were present, but the rabbit had managed to call him down somewhat.

Once they got there, he opened the door and the badger immediately went inside without even asking. He then took off his boots and cloak before he started to explore the room. In different circumstances, William would have laughed at the situation. His room was clearly nicer than anything the badger had seen before, but now...

He leaned down to take his own shoes off when a rank scent came to his nostrils. He sniffed a few more times, but it didn't take a genius to know that it came from the badger's discarded clothing, so William hurried up until he was on nothing else but his underwear.

He looked at the bed and saw that the badger had already appropriated it, barely leaving any space for him to be on. William sit down and sighed. He would have remained like that and then go to bed, when some movement on the corner of his eyes caught his attention.

The badger had crossed one leg, letting his hindpaw in the rabbit's full view, and he was wiggling his toes. William looked at the badger. He nodded and then moved the paw closer to him. William grabbed the paw and started to rub it. He did not know if this is what the badger had intended, but it was what he was getting.

Only one night, he kept reminding himself. He'd play as the badger's wife for one night and then everything would be back to normal.

Except, that was not actually true. Homosexual relationships were not exactly uncommon in the forest lands, his kingdom included, but after William had been promised to the badger, another male, that made him the woman in the relationship.

This meant that, from then on, he would no longer be considered as a possible heir to the throne. Moreover, as they would not be able to reproduce either, so neither would either of their descendants have any claim whatsoever. And that applied even if they found a way to get rid of the badger without anyone suspecting anything. From now on, he was just William. Hell, even a run-of-the-mill merchant had a bigger position in court than him.

If the badger was smarter, William would probably think that this was just a scheme to get someone else on the throne. But no, the badger was simple. He probably thought this would make him king one day, or if he did not have those ambitions, just garnered him a wife.

Still, William did not want to think of this. Only one night...

William's thoughts were interrupted when the badger removed his paw from his lap. The rabbit looked at the badger and saw that he had lifted one arm. William looked at it and then at the badger. Was he... presenting his pit to him?

Did he really... No, no way, this was too much. He stood up and was ready to leave the room.

You know how they can be...

Your fur nothing more than a belt...

Only one night...

He sighed and went back to the bed and buried his nose deep into the badger's pit. William tried to hold his breath as much as he could, but it was no use. It seemed like the badger knew what he was doing, and he would not let him move until he could hear William's deep breathes clearly. Once he did, the badger carelessly grabbed one of the rabbit's ears and started to rub it.

"You... soft..."

William retracted from the badger's pit, wanting to escape his raunch torment, when the badger grabbed him with a strong hold and pulled him in.

This was not William's first kiss by a mile, but it certainly was among the messiests. The badger's tongue invaded his mouth and dominated everything it went, all while the brute's slobber dripped down and coated the rabbit's underwear. The badger then lowered his free hand and slowly untangled the rabbit's underwear off and started to fondle his sheath.

It all felt so wrong, yet so good at the same time. William then broke the kiss and moaned.

"You... me... now... okay?"

William nodded.

The badger laid him down the bed before taking his crotch piece off. Standing full erect William was the biggest cock he had ever seen. The badger lifted the rabbit's legs and tried to poke him from behind, but it was too big, and William too inexperienced from that side, to fit. With no other choice, the badger grabbed William's dick and pressed both of them together and started to fap.

William covered his eyes and just waited for the ordeal to be done until, at last, the badger ended up cumming on him. William was relieved, thinking it was over, when he felt something long and wet enveloping his member. He then uncovered his eyes and saw the badger sucking him. He wanted to tell him to stop, but every time the rabbit tried, waves of pleasure coursed through his body and only moans escaped from his mouth.

It didn't take long until he ended up cumming inside the badger's mouth.

The badger licked his lips and climbed on the bed to cuddle the rabbit.

"Tomorrow... I..."

William shushed him. "I know. My father told me."

"Tomorrow... okay?"

"Yes, tomorrow okay," he said. The sooner tomorrow came, the earlier this all would end.

A chill wind ran through William's spine. He opened his eyes and saw that he was staring right at the ground. He tried to move, but soon discovered that his hands and feet were tied up. He continued to struggle, but soon felt the badger's hand land on his head.

"No... move."

The rabbit looked up and realized what was happening, he had been tied and the oaf was now galloping somewhere. William did not know what to do. His family probably did not know where he was and even if they did...

No, he would not think that. No, he would need to find a way to distract the badger. His family was likely searching for both of them at that very same moment. Maybe if he could find a way to make the badger stop, then perhaps...

Magnus removed his hand from the rabbit's head. It seemed that he had calmed down. That was good, after all, he didn't want him to end up falling and getting trampled, or worse.

The boy certainly could be too much to handle at times, but Magnus knew he had to be patient.

Hell, yesterday he was about to call the whole thing off. The way he treated him after their engagement was announced. The way he retracted whenever he wanted to touch him. And let's not forget how different they were from each other.

And yet, when they finally were alone, everything changed. Magnus caught the rabbit smelling his boots. At first he thought it was just one more nail to the coffin, not liking his scent either, but he could hardly blame the boy for that. He had not had time to wash himself after dealing with the Lizard king and hurrying all the way back. But was he mistaken. Once the rabbit was on the bed, he caught him again, this time taking glances at his paws, and that's when he knew.

The rabbit was just shy.

It reminded him of the first time they met. While Bjorn was talking to his father, Magnus could feel the prince's gaze on him, and after readjusting his cod piece, the prince had quickly turned his gaze away. He was blushing, likely at getting caught, yet Magnus could still see the prince giving a look a few more looks.

It had been the same thing last night. The rabbit had only rubbed his paws, but to test his theory, Magnus decided to go further, which the prince seemed to greedily take advantage of. He had expected a short whiff, but was he mistaken about that. He did not really know what the boy liked so much about scents, but it didn't matter. If it made him happy, Magnus would let him indulge on his kink and that was it. He would do anything in his power to let the rabbit know that he accepted him, and maybe, who know? One day the boy would come out of his shell.

The rabbit then moved in closer and started to nuzzle his cock.

Magnus smiled. He had chosen well. The boy had a healthy sexual appetite, and really seemed to be into him. To think that he had almost broken this all off because of a misunderstanding.

He had been planning to stop and wash in the first pond they found, but screw it. If it made the boy happy, it made him happy. Hell, once they were back home, he'd make sure to go a few days without washing every once in a while just to let the boy have his fun.

Still, not every day though.

The boy continued to lap at his crotch and he pet his head.

That pompous palace life was too much for him, and he was glad that both father and son seemed to be okay with the two of them leaving to his homeland instead. He had saved enough money in his life as a mercenary to start his own farm, and the boy would learn to tend to it.

It would surely be difficult, especially with the language barrier what with southerners mostly only knowing how to speak their own language. Magnus had been forced to learn it, and he could understand it, but he still struggled with speaking it. He wondered how long it'd take for the boy to both learn the language and to get used to his new life?

Though one thing he had to remember, was not to spoil the boy too much. While he would compromise on the boy's kink, the boy would also need to make a few more on his own. And he did not mean that in the collar or the cage the boy would be forced to wear, but also on pleasing him as well.

After all, all good relationships are based on compromise...
