A Mutant's Life

Part 2: Settling In

A Mutant's Life Part 2: Settling In

With a swift kick, Felix knocked open the door to the roof of the warehouse that him, Rick, Lug, and Caine, were calling home.  Behind him he was dragging a lounge chair made out of extra chairs in the office area of the warehouse, something him and Caine had worked on for their own convenience, setting himself up with a glass of Nuka Cola as he enjoy the hot sun of the day for his break.  The past two weeks had been very busy for them all as they worked to settle into the large building.

Caine and Felix made themselves up a room out of a section of the offices, turning desks into beds by bolting them together and tossing on a few mattresses they had scavenged.  Felix had been quite glad that Caine was so helpful, his size doing most of the work in there, though Felix had tried to make up for it with bedding, lighting, and general cleaning since being the smaller grey horse he was, he didn't have the bulk to off the Caine did with his immense strength.

Not that it compared to Rick and Lug, Rick of course a monster at his size, but even with looking like a Super Mutant on steroids, he was extremely nice to everyone.  The two mutants had set up their room in part of the warehouse itself since Rick was so big.  Making walls out of the shelving there, a roof that was just out of reach of Rick's noggin, and some clothes for some privacy, the two had made themselves a secluded place as their relationship had grown after their previous adventure of fighting the Ultra Mutant and even though their size was so different, they made quite the cute couple.

Felix grinned at the idea of the two, putting on some glasses he had fashioned out of a few pair that were made for humans and looked out into the canyon that helped to hide them, his thoughts disturbed when Caine worked his way through the roof door and set up his own chair.  Along with that, he pulled out a huge steel pole with an odd and wide four prong base of legs to it.  The top had pieces of rebar jutting out in an angled star shape with cloth placed between.  It was set up above Felix, giving them an umbrella so they wouldn't have to stick it out in the sun constantly, a light breeze helping to keep the heat down from scalding to just abit too warm.

Caine sat down, always a stern look to his face, but with almost a hint of satisfaction as the two stared out together.  Slowly, Caine started to pull off his overalls, stripping down to the door, his body dripping with sweat and Felix couldn't help himself from oogling the bull as he was just wearing a pair of short shorts he had made out of an extra pair of coveralls.  The two didn't say a thing, a light blush on Felix's face as the grey horse handed over an extra bottle of cola to the bull, the two drinking together in quiet enjoyment.

"MOTHER!" Lug bounced around, holding his thumb in his hand, the heavy hammer dropping to the ground. Rick laughed as he had a huge piece of equipment in his arms, piling it into the corner they designated for excess machinery they would never use, the pile neat and stable, the new nude Coyote huffing as he set it down and leaned against the wall of metal. "Don't worry.  If you broke it, it'll heal right up."

"I know that! Doesn't keep it from hurting!" Lug shoved the thumb into his mouth, mumbling as he went back to the engine he had been fiddling with it, grabbing the hammer again and wailing on what he had been finishing up, tossing the hammer against the far wall. "And done! God dang machine has been a pain in my ass for a week now, but I'm finally finished."

"And what in the world have you been working on? I've been asking since you started and aside from this engine, I haven't seen jack, Mr. Jackrabbit." Rick sat down into the machines like they were a throne for him, crossing his arms and eying his fellow mutant mate.

"Prepare yourself, for the...Rabbit Mobile!" A sheet was pulled next to the engine Lug had been working on, showing off a three wheel motorcycle, with a trailer on the back of it. "Umm...Name subject to change." He laughed as he stood proudly looking upon it.

"You got a motorcycle working? You never see anyone with a working one.  What are you doing for fuel?" Rick sat up and came over to the machine, bending down and looking it over.

"Don't have to worry about it.  Uses energy cells.  Can find plenty of those around, so I managed to work them up to power the motorcycle.  Still have to connect them together, but now I can make trips to New Vegas to get stuff we might need.  Oh, which reminds me, you have to go and open up the blocked road with all those heavy rocks...you know...whenever your free." Lug smiled with his eyes bright, looking as innocent as ever.

"Yeah, yeah.  I'll get you your opening.  But I want you to take Caine with you when you go.  You may look more normal than me, but if people catch sight of your green skin and we'll have a mutant hunt on our hand." He gave the rabbits head a pet and smiled as the two looked over their machine.

"Alright, big guy.  Your lucky your cute, or I might argue with ya." Lug smirked and lightly punched at Ricks massive thigh before nuzzling into his large mate.

"With Felix and Caine enjoying the day on the roof, I think it's time me and you celebrate your accomplishment." Rick grinned wide, picking up the rabbit like he was nothing, carrying him in one arm to their bedroom, curtains tossed aside.

"Oh no, what a horrible mutant monster you are! Help, Oh I do say, help!" Lug laughed as the two kissed, embracing each other in their new home.
