Chloe finds out a terrible truth: Clawing a dude's face off is grounds for termination with... Most jobs. So now we find them on the first day of their new job at a Monster Advocacy firm alongside Butters and a whole host of new co-workers.

The order comes for the two Monsters, mistakenly spread out between the both of them, as if both Monsters possess the same calibre of appetite. The waitress, a western witch, places down on Chloe's side: The jam toast and the chicken tikka panini with an empty plate with a knife and fork. While on Butters side the fried bread, bowl of chips and another empty plate with a knife and fork. Presumably for the huge Full English spread that's placed in the middle: sausage, bacon, egg (fried and scrambled), black pudding and hash browns. The waitress gives Chloe a knife and fork as well, which evokes a bemused look on her face. After the waitress leaves, the two Monsters nod as they trade the bowl of chips and jam toast, as well as Chloe surrendering their empty plate and cutlery to put under Butters'.

In-between almost robotically calculated bites of their breakfast, switching between combinations of all the food on their side of the table, Butters gestures to Chloe

-Y'know you oughta have some of this, keep your strength up for your first day!

-I am, this IS my big preparation breakfast. Replies Chloe as she chews on her next chip. If I had a Butters sized portion for brekkie I'd be asleep for the first half of my shift.

-Well if you say soooooo. Replies Butters as they take a huge bite of fried bread with an fried egg on top and hash browns lurking underneath.

-Besides don't act like you don't love scooping up my leftovers.

-It's ugly work, but I'll glady shoulder your burdens. Replies Butters giving a little bit of a bow.

Chloe chuckles to themselves as they lean back on their chair and look down at themselves.

-Besides even eating this feels like a huge risk. Ponders Chloe.

-Yeah? You think a few drips of sauce stains is what's wrong with your fit right now?

Chloe gives a facetious look of offence as they lean back in their chair: Presenting themselves.

She's currently wearing a striped shirt, white with pale red stripes going down, with down on her left side looks like what appears to be a square of fabric with a picture of someone's cat printed on, stitched to the shirt.

-Gotta represent the species innit? Explains Chloe, as she taps the picture with her finger.

Butters gives a huge sigh, but knows this actually is the smartest shirt that they could get the Cat into at such short notice. Look, she even buttoned up her shirt for them, Butters cannot recall the last time they had ever worn a shirt like that, that's showing effort. Along side this she's wearing her usual white trousers with the bottom cuffs torn to shreds. Surely that's the thing the worry about getting stained tho? Well it's not like Chloe has a huge choice in posh trousers, hardly any clothes are made with their huge hind paws in mind, so ripping the closes cuffs of these trousers is the best they can do. Sure she has clothes that accommodate her paws, but they're usually of the trackies variety and not something she could swing today.

Cos Chloe has gotten a job at Butters' work place! Hence all the effort and such. Chloe had a nice comfy job down at the chippy before this, but it ended the same way all of her employment ends, lashing out at a Human customer trying to weaponize the "Employees can't talk back to customers" dynamic. Though of course that doesn't stop Chloe usually.

Butters of course has come dressed for the occasion, wearing their shirt which matches the dry denim pattern of everything else they own. It even has little spiked studs across the shoulders. Combine this with a black tie and Butters own rare clothing sight; trousers that go past the knee, alongside Chelsea Boots, it's a smart fit. Work mode.

After finishing their entire breakfast, the last half of Chloe's tikka panini included, they order a latte to go at the bar as they turn to Chloe and ask:

-Are we ready for your first day? Asks Butters.

-Is having a few more ciggys back to back an option? Replies Chloe.

-No, in fact it doesn't even matter if you're ready we're off.

Literally hoisting Chloe out of her seat, the two Monsters get ready to depart. Well "depart" is a strong word, they're already here! The workplace is located in one of the rooms being let upstairs in The Hounds of Tyre. Yes they were there the whole time, where else would they be? They don't go anywhere else! That now extends to place of employment.

Butters picks up their little brown leather bag, found in the bottom of a cupboard in a charity shop back home in Colch. It's like storage, but White Supremacist notions of "presentability" allow it! Haha. Uhhgh. ANYWAYS, both Monsters give a wave to Coleo behind the bar as they both head up the stairs. Both Monsters come to a hallway with doors leading to rooms pertaining to the bar downstairs, they have to walk a little way before getting to the lettered rooms.Chloe notices Butters looks... Irate, more then their base level irritation anyhows, as if they're contemplating saying something. After a little while it turns out something has won out inside them and they turn to Chloe.

-So hey, I just wanna say y'know... Errmm... Uhhh... Like y'know... Well done. Butters eventually pushes out.

Chloe laughs in hysterics, stopping her in their tracks for a spell.

-What? Well done? Like for getting out of bed like? Chloe replies.

-Well no, like, maybe a little bit. But also like the shirt, the whole get-up. I mean, you're taking this seriously, and I'm proud of you y'know? You look good, you look great, all smart and stuff.

Butters is full on staring at the wallpaper as they recite this... Whatever it was. Chloe's smile starts to wane a little as they look a little confused.

-Butters... What is all this? She asks.

Butters ejects themselves from glaring at the wall and actually puts their eyesight near Chloe's general area.

-I just worry i'm being all grumpy and shit, like I want you to know I'm glad you're here.

Butters gestures their paws to the sky in a manner of not knowing what to do with them, before just grabbing Chloe and kissing her on the cheek.

-Look there I did it, okay, cool, cool cool cool, let's go to work! Butters declares before storming down the hallway.

Chloe chuckles a little to themselves while holding their cheek in their paw, she couldn't help but wonder what drove them to act like this so suddenly.

-It should just be down the end of this hallway. Directs Butters.

Both Monsters turn the corner down the hallway. To a long hallway with a long single mirror propped up on the wall of the right side. Chloe was always confused by the state of this building, it always feels like they're walking for longer then the building she knows she's seen outside. They had to have hit a wall by now surely? Just seems like an impossible space to inhabit, Chloe regularly uses the inn rooms upstairs for Getting Railed reasons and there's never this much space.

Perhaps this train of thought was what enabled her to start spotting the inconsistencies between the image of Butters walking in front of her, and the reflection inside the mirror. Somehow it was her sight that felt like it was failing her, as if the walls began to twist and fold into themselves like a sponge, the colours bleeding into the carpet below and Butters looking like they were walking in place. The reflection, despite contradictions, felt more like reality than what it was reflecting. Contradictions such as the figure that had appeared between herself and The Squirrel, a lurching figure covered in glass reaching out it's claw, well it's hand, but the shards of glass piercing it's fingernails projecting the silhouette of one.

Chloe returns her gaze to the corridor and immediately knew, the visual quirks in the front of them, like a eye floater in the exact shape of the figure in the mirror. She knew then there's no time to call to them and dashes towards the vacant space as she uses the moment to lift their knee toward their target.

As she unsheathes her hind claws and strikes towards the space, they feel a force stop their nail in its tracks, as she reflexively glances towards the reflection. They now see clearly a anthropomorphic figure grasping their nail between two shards of glass protruding out of their fingers. They would appear human if not for the Shards Of Glass Peppering Their Entire Body thing, especially with the one piercing their right eyeball, well their left one if it's a reflection I suppose. Furthermore, they had Bleach Blonde Wavy Hair down to their shoulders, wearing a Black and Red denim jacket split down the middle, with opposing split colours on their skinny trousers.

-Oh wow, your friend here is very perceptive Buttercream. Says the figure in the mirror.

Chloe feels the world around them shift and turn as they find themselves gazing at the mirror on the left side of the wall, as if they were in the reflection. Except the reflection shows nothing between Chloe and Butters, with their hind claw hanging in the air. She turns her head to in front of her to see the figure she had once perceived in the reflection, still holding their claw between their fingers. The Cat quickly shifts backwards to make some space between this figure and themselves, keeping themselves in a fighting stance.

-Has it never occurred to you that sneaking up on someone in general is a horrible way of greeting them? Asks Butters. Not that I didn't feel you stalking us since we turned the corner.

Chloe leans their head a little to the side to see Butters addressing the figure with an annoyed cadence, something you'd shoot your kid sibling or whatever. Butters then gestures towards it and then Chloe.

-This is my comrade and our new recruit for today: Chloe. Chloe, this is Bloody Mary, a fellow They/Them. Introduces Butters.

The Monster extends their hand to give Chloe a hand shake, Chloe reluctantly extends their paw in return. To The Cat's surprise it was a relatively painless affair and as they check their paw afterwards for shards of glass she seemed to be in the clear.

-Aren't you like way too famous to be doing a gig like this? Asks Chloe.

-Well the Power Of Anime and God kid is famous, do you think he's chilling in a mansion with 7 figures? Asks Bloody Mary

Chloe knew those thing wern't quite comparable, but decided to drop it. The three of them walked down the rest of the corridor before coming towards a door with a card reader lock. Butters swipes their lanyard to unlock as they open the door.

They come again to a long corridor that ends in a turn to the left. A feeling of needing to write their last will and testament overcomes Chloe, they cannot remember what the entrance of this floor looked like and no feasible end in sight. Butters assures the line that their room is just coming up as they turn the corridor. To Chloe's surprise they finally come to a fairly basic office space, with three Monsters sitting already.

Relevant to the biggest bottom in this room: Chloe, was the sheer presence of the Cyclops, sat with their back against the long wall they had just walked by. Her name was Veeo (She/Her) she was wearing a royal blue suit and matching pencil skirt, she put her red hair in little pigtails, held there by a little Greek patterned looking braid. She had a sandstone complexion, and no that's not just White People for calling someone tanned, that's what it was! Cyclops typically have that living statue thing about them, creases near their nose where typical eyes would be located, with her lone eye resting just above it.

On the other side of the room, with antrho-typical sized furniture is a, y'know, Mushroom person: Maico (Them/Us/She/Her). There's probably a more sensitive term, but it escapes Chloe right now. You can barely spy their gaze under the cap of their mushroom, which houses a recognisable Amanita design, bright red with slight white protrusions. Locks of ivy and Algae fall from the inside of the cap, with patches of Mould staining their peach-coloured jumper. She's furiously typing away on her tablet, ready to take minutes of the meeting.

In the centre of the room behind the whiteboard, in a very "I'm the leader" position of the room was a Human. Well at first glance, but then you notice the scaly purple... Chloe wants to say rash? But it's clearly more other wordly then that, coming from a bite wound on the side of their neck. It covers her face to the point of discolouring her eyes. Chloe is somewhat familiar with well... Familiars! One might ask if Humans have the capability to revert to Monsters, then why would anyone offer themselves like this? Well, it's loads of things; maybe they're so fucking depraved they wanted it? That's the answer like 80% of the time; horny shit. The other 20 is stuff like needing to be a Monster like ASAP, but can't untangle from humanity fast enough they need to the process triggered by force. It's not common at all, but there it is.

The Familiar gives a brief introduction to the room to Chloe before going through the tasks and jobs they're expected to do today. There's a lot of admin stuff about securing funding as well as scheduling the week of who can do a lot of one to one meetings. Chloe whispers to Butters what this was about?

-Well we get a lot of questioning Humans, who are clearly on the verge of Monsterhood and we, well we help them through the process.Explains Butters.

-We're doing the converting personally? Oh that is so sick! Exclaims Chloe.

-No no no, we don't push them one way or the other, we just give them the info and let them make a choice themselves.

-Yeah but... Come on you must push them our way, like you got to see more people turning to Monsters then the other way round right?

Butters gives a long sigh and a disconcerting length of silence. Chloe recedes in their seat, all the wind being taken out of their sails.

-Needless to say I'm not recommending you for that work. Elaborates Butters.

-What? Come on, get me in there when I'm done with 'em th-

-Excuse me, am I interrupting something? Interrupts The Familiar.

Chloe shoots up in their seat and shakes her head. It's kind of like being in school again all this, which probably speaks to Chloe's conduct in all other forms of employment.

It turns out Chloe's job was to shadow Butters for the day, who in turn wasn't given too much work to do today so that Chloe can spot them easily. Nice! Everyone wins. The work was to take notes and chip in during a custody meeting between Social Services and a Monster family, just note any weird things Social Services say or try to pull during the meeting, The Familiar herself will be the main advocate. Chloe looks over to Butters, chuffed about the easy day seemingly, but Butters does not share this enthusiasm. In fact a look of deep dread crawls on The Squirrel's face, knowing something deeply and intimately that The Cat does not about what they're about to experience. They need to ready themselves, in fact maybe not even they should be doing this...
