The Beginning
Background: Brendan had always dreamed of one day of having his very own pokemon. He doesn't care about being the best, but he definitely doesn't want to the worst. His dad was a local engineer and has designed most of the buildings in his town, Peridan. Brendan has had a great life so far his parents treat him like any other kid in the town. Brendan knows that his dad used to have at least one great pokemon and all he remembers is that it was a reddish color (he was 2 when his dad last had the pokemon). Also a lot of people seem very proud to even live in the same town as his dad, but every time Brendan presses his dad on the question his dad always shuns the question and becomes very depressed. Even Brendan's mom has kept her mouth shut on the question. She often asks Brendan about his social life t change the subject. Brendan is a little confused. Story: Now Brendan is going into his senior year of high school, the time when the law permits a child to have their first pokemon. Obviously, Brendan is very excited because he has already talked to Prof. Oak about getting a charmander (the only red starter pokemon he knows of). Brendan likes Prof. Oak and has been hanging around his laboratory for a couple of years. He likes the professor because he was different than everyone else he just saw his family as another run of the mill family of Peridan. Anyway, secretly they had decided on a deal for the charmander which was very cheap for Brendan. Brendan would only have to pay 20 bucks for the charmander. This was for two reasons. The first being all the time Brendan had spent at the lab helping Professor Oak. The second being that the charmander he got is gay.
