#11 of Tales of Azoria

Returning back to Vaermia to escape the Stellarian guards. They are now left with wonder as to what to do next about BossBiss. Then they realized that Queen Oasis is still within Stellaris's walls. They must not prepare themselves to go in and save her from the troubling nightmare of her own kingdom.

Sandstorm was flapping her wings harder as she led them past the Vaermia walls. Azuri watched as guards from along the wall were now noticing the large swarm of Stellarian guards slowly approaching them. He watched as Vaermesian guards began preparing themselves with spears. Azuri didn't want to watch the fight, he knew it was going to get real messy.

Luckily Sandstorm led them inside her place, and quickly started searching through the cabinet. Uhrwerk landed right behind Azuri and they both walked inside. Azuri heard the Vaermesian guards beginning to shout loudly and fly into the air toward the approaching Stellarian guards. Surprisingly, Uhrwerk spoke to Sandstorm despite not knowing her, "What are you looking for?" He still spoke a little shyly and softly, but Sandstorm heard him clearly.

"I need to find my armor plates, I can't leave the guards to fight alone!" Azuri came over to her and stopped her by putting his claw around her arm.

"Woah! Relax Sandstorm. I don't want you going out there and risking yourself. I may still need your help with BossBiss." She shook her head as she continued fiddling through the cabinet and boxes.

"No, I can't stop now. They need me out there!" She cried, before her eyes widened and she began heading into her bedroom. Azuri's claw slipped away from her arm as she shook it out of her. Azuri turned back to Uhrwerk with concern.

"Block the door with your wings, I'll talk to her." Uhrwerk nodded and complied, going over to the doorway and spreading his wings out in front of it to block the doorway. Azuri quickly rushed into Sandstorm's bedroom and found her beginning to slip on armor plates around her knees and elbows. "Stop! You should think about this first. You're about my age, right? I don't think it's right for someone to be fighting so early in their life."

"Pfft, I love how you're saying that about me when you are literally going towards danger. I'm not any different to you. I'm just not as much of a coward as you." As soon as she puts on the last armor plate, she pushes Azuri and goes into the next room. She grabs the last few things from a box, before beginning to go over to the doorway that was blocked by Uhrwerk. Azuri was following her, but she was moving too fast for him to stop her. "Move out of my way, Uhrwerk," she tells him, but is quickly stopped by Azuri grabbing her and turning her to face him.

"Stop! I won't let you kill them, they are just being controlled by BossBiss. They have no idea that they are even doing this." Sandstorm didn't reply, instead she just stared into his eyes contemplatively. It was like she was waiting for Azuri to disappear so she could keep going. However, they were quickly turned away toward Uhrwerk when a Stellarian burst through the door, pushing Uhrwerk into a wall and pinning him from behind. Another Stellarian walks with a spear and notices Azuri and Sandstorm.

Sandstorm growls as she leaps forward and begins attacking the guards. Despite her size, she was kicking their butts with ease. She yanked the guard off of Uhrwerk and was about to kill him when Azuri stopped her. "Stop! Don't kill him! He doesn't know that he's doing this!" Sandstorm kept the sword pinned up to the dragon's neck. The other Stellarian was sitting up against the wall and rubbing their head. She looked over to Azuri with pleading eyes and a little annoyed. Azuri went over to Uhrwerk and took the baggie with herbs out of his claw that he was still carrying. "Just give them this, they'll stop attacking, I promise."

She took the baggie from him and opened it, pulling out two small herbs. She kept the guard pinned to the wall, using her other claw to open the guard's mouth and slipping one of the two herbs inside. Then, she lets go of the guard and goes over to the other one to do the same thing. She backed away from them and stood beside Azuri. She kept the sword pointed at them and stared at them both with a serious murderous expression.

It took a couple minutes for both of the guards to grow widened eyes. One of them blinked a couple times, grunting while they grabbed their forehead. The other one looked toward Sandstorm, then Azuri and Uhrwerk. "W-what just happened?" They mutter out in confusion. "Why are we in the Vaermesian city?"

"BossBiss controlled you two to follow us here and kill us. What's the last thing you guys remember?" Azuri asked them. The same guard that spoke glanced down at the other one, then back up at Azuri.

"I-I remember guarding outside the palace, then I just blacked out and had this weird shape of a dragon whispering to me to do things." He looked down at the floor as he tried thinking about anything else. Though, he sighed with disappointment before sitting down with his back against the wall. He started rubbing the side of his head, his expression was filled with conflicted emotions that he couldn't comprehend by himself.

The other guard was silent for a few minutes, then spoke without looking at them. "I. . . I think I was guarding Queen Oasis in the throne room. I saw this large dragon with red glowing scales along his back walk in. That's when the same thing happened to me." Azuri's eyes widened when he heard him describe BossBiss without saying his name. That meant Azuri was right with his suspicion, if they didn't know his name. This meant that he really wasn't part of the line up of royals for Stellaris. It also meant he took the throne for himself and probably did something to the queen, who appeared to be named Oasis.

Is she still around Stellaris? Or did BossBiss kill her? He was sure BossBiss wouldn't kill her on the spot. He likely tried to make the scene as legit as possible so other tribes didn't investigate, which meant that Oasis was still somewhere around the palace, likely hidden away from all of the other dragons to make her unnoticeable. That's not good at all, it meant the kingdom was being run by a false royal. Wherever BossBiss came from, he was clearly a rando who wanted to abuse his powers for his own benefit.

"Do you guys know where Oasis might be right now?" Azuri asked, Sandstorm still kept her sword pointed at them. Though, her expression faded to just a slightly interested frown. "We think she might be in trouble."

The guards both shook their heads at the question, which made Azuri sigh and look over to Sandstorm. "Crap." His eyes wandered over to Uhrwerk, who was slightly conflicted with everything.

"I'm still trying to figure out what happened," Uhrwerk whispered to Azuri.

"I know, don't worry." Azuri placed a claw onto Uhrwerk's back and patted him. "I'll explain it to you in a bit."

"You two aren't going to turn around and stab us, are you?" Sandstorm asked with another frightening tone. The guards shook their heads as they glanced at each other. It looked like they were getting calmer now, setting down their spears and trying to wake themselves up. Sandstorm slowly lowered her sword and looked over to Uhrwerk and Azuri. "So. . ." Her eyes meet with Azuri's, "What are we doing now?"

Azuri thought to himself again, before getting a bad idea. He didn't want to have to do it after what they just did, but it was the best option. "Looks like we have to go back one more time, but this time for the queen."

Sandstorm grunted, "Really? Again? We just came back from there!"

"I know, but I think I'm starting to understand this whole situation. The queen needs our help, if we get her out then she'll know what to do to get her tribe back." Azuri felt a shiver down his spine again, feeling guilt flow through his body as he took a deep breath. Once he released it, he looked over to Uhrwerk. "This time, I'm going to distract BossBiss. While I'm doing that, I want you two to find her and get her out of there."

Sandstorm and Uhrwerk's eyes widened when they heard this. Sandstorm pulled Azuri to the side and shook her head. "What do you think you're doing?! Are you crazy? You are going to get yourself killed! I should be the one to distract him, I've had experience with this sort of stuff before."

"I still doubt that you're as ferocious as you say you are, or the fact that you killed other dragons." Azuri said.

"Yes I have, I've killed five dragons since I was seven. Don't think that I'm not capable." Azuri was shocked to hear that coming from her mouth. She killed five dragons before? What kind of sick parents does she have that allow her to do such things?! "Besides, they had it coming a mile away."

"BossBiss has been interested in me since he captured me. The fact that I'm immune from his mind control makes me more fit to do such a thing. I don't want him to get his claws on either of you, especially Uhrwerk again." Azuri glanced over to Uhrwerk, who was waving his paw innocently at the guards and slightly smiling. The guards waved back, but were still deeply confused. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. I just ask you to do one thing for me, and that's keep Uhrwerk safe. Don't go on a rampage and kill hundreds of guards."

"I think you're overexaggerating my skills a bit there, but fine." She sighs as she goes over to Uhrwerk. "I will keep him safe like you said." She begins taking off her armor plating, then turns Uhrwerk toward her. "Let me put this on you." She tells him, which he hesitantly lifts his paws up to her to more easily slip them on. Once she finishes putting the last one on, she turns to Azuri. "There, are you happy now?" Azuri couldn't help but giggle from her salty behavior and tone of voice.

"We should probably take care of the guards too," Azuri informs her, to which she nods in response.

"Oh right, let me get a Vaermesian guard to come over and assist them." She walks out of the doorway and leaves them. This allowed Azuri to have alone time with Uhrwerk for a bit. Azuri walks over to him with a half smile.

"Hey, how are you holding up?"

Uhrwerk nodded as his expression was starting to grow sad. "So, I suppose I should give you a quick summary of what happened." Azuri clears his throat as he begins to tell Uhrwerk a small summary about the events that played out after he was mind controlled. Azuri even told him about how BossBiss forced a relationship onto him with the two dragons. Uhrwerk had an expression of both confusion and a little bit of anger. Which was a good sign for what's to come. "I'm sorry Uhrwerk, I shouldn't have left you alone. It was my fault for being so foolish."

Uhrwerk didn't say anything at first, looking at Azuri. Then he came over and wrapped a wing around Azuri's waist and smiled sadly at him. "It's okay, it wouldn't have mattered either way," he said sadly, which made Azuri a little concerned, "I don't really have anything left anymore, so I'm not bothered by it. I will say that I'm not happy he did that to me though." Azuri saw himself staring at him in the eyes deeply. He wanted to say something to him, but didn't know how to put it into words.

Then, Azuri sighed as he lifted his claw up to him. "You have me, right?" He asked him curiously. "Am I considered your friend?"

Azuri watched as Uhrwerk thought to himself for a second. Then, he saw Uhrwerk giving off a small smile as he began talking. "Well, you offered me a place to sleep, I saved you from a fire, then you took me with you, only to save my life from a bad dragon..." He nodded to Azuri. "I think that's good enough to call you a friend." Azuri felt himself fully smile at him. That made him feel really good inside. He was glad to have him think the same as himself.

"I'm sorry that this all went sideways so fast. I didn't mean for it to get like this," Azuri admitted sadly to him.

"It wasn't your fault. . . It was nobody's fault." Uhrwerk was right, Azuri shouldn't feel ashamed for bringing him onto this adventure. Even if it had been very risky, it was for a good cause. Azuri knew from the very second he saw the letter that something weird was happening. Well, after going there multiple times, he knew by now that he was right to feel that way. He was even more glad he met Sandstorm, despite her being a little cuckoo in the head. As for Uhrwerk, he actually was glad to have him tag along. He might've been confused at the start, but he was still very useful to have around.

As Azuri hugged Uhrwerk closely with a wing to make him feel better, Sandstorm returned with two Vaermesian guards to escort the Stellarian guards out. Azuri watched her walk back over to the cabinet and pull out a second bracelet. He gasped in surprise. "Wait, I thought you only had one?" Azuri asked with a raised eyebrow.

She shook her head, "Nah, I bought two at the time. I didn't know what I was going to use the second for until today. I guess it was a good thing I got a second, huh?" She handed it over to Uhrwerk who studied it confusingly. Azuri watched as Sandstorm explained the bracelet to him and how to use it. It only took a couple of minutes of explaining before Uhrwerk and Sandstorm informed Azuri that they were fully prepared and ready to go. Taking a deep breath to prepare himself, Azuri nodded to them and led them outside.

This time, Sandstorm was the first to lift off into the air. Azuri then lifted off, and Uhrwerk followed behind Azuri. They instantly looked around for any sign of Stellarian guards, but quickly noticed that all were out of the air. The Vaermesian guards were on the ground surrounding the Stellarians and arresting them. Azuri looked at Sandstorm and Uhrwerk. "Alright, so before we go there just a reminder that I'm going to find where BossBiss is and begin distracting him. You two find queen Oasis and get her out. As soon as you do, I'll be right behind you guys. Sounds good?" Both Uhrwerk and Sandstorm nod in approval. "Alright, perfect, be safe you two."

"You too!" Sandstorm called out, before starting to fly toward the palace of Stellaris in the distance. Azuri split off from the group, beginning to head straight to the palace. Uhrwerk and Sandstorm begin to fly toward the garden and city. Before they got too close, they cloaked themselves out of view, making sure they went invisible so no dragon noticed them entering. He hoped that they wouldn't get caught when they got there. It was another risky move, but they won't make progress if Oasis was under BossBiss's control. He just hoped it wasn't too late for her.
