#10 of Tales of Azoria

A rescue mission begins to get Uhrwerk back! Now with the help of his new Vaermesian friend and a bag of herbs. They hope that they could free him from the grasp of BossBiss.

Azuri saw the large palace slowly coming into view up ahead of them. Sandstorm was flying right beside him, her expression turning to awe as they approached it. Azuri fully cloaked himself so he was completely hidden from any other dragon. He glanced back to Sandstorm, who seemed to still be able to see him without any issues. Did the bracelet also give her thermal vision? If so, then that's one magical bracelet. It'd probably be very useful for spy missions.

Azuri tried searching around for Uhrwerk desperately, but he couldn't find any sign of him anywhere. It started to make Azuri a bit stressed and worried for his first friend. Where is he? Did Boss Biss touch him? Oh! He swore to the fishes, he would bite BossBiss's head off if he did. Azuri sighed disappointedly as he landed onto a random balcony of the palace. Sandstorm landed beside him, but her expression didn't change. She appeared to be in complete awe as she looked around at the size of the palace. It was like a puppy excited to explore something new, only instead of a puppy it was a nine foot dragon.

She rushed over to the railing and looked down at the garden below. "Oh my Lanta, this is beautiful!" She cried out in pure amazement. "You didn't tell me about the view!"

"Well, that wasn't exactly important to the story," Azuri informed her as he started leading the way inside through the large doorway. It took her a second to realize Azuri was walking away, but when she did she flew over to Azuri and caught up to him. "I didn't see Uhrwerk in the garden, so he might be lurking around somewhere inside." Azuri didn't notice many dragons on the same balcony as theirs. Instead, there only appeared to be two Stellarians standing beside the railing inside.

When they got to the railing, Azuri could see the first floor packed with many dragons of different races. They appeared to be chilling out and talking to one another. Azuri desperately looked around the room for any sign of Uhrwerk, but couldn't find him anywhere within the crowd. Sandstorm pointed to a couple Luminians, but none of them fit Uhrwerk's description in his head. Eventually, Azuri glanced over to Sandstorm before flying off the balcony and starting to head toward the large dining room on the first floor. Sandstorm landed beside him carefully and quietly, before following him inside the room. Azuri hasn't been in this room yet, so he was surprised to see the size of the room.

The size was even more enormous than he thought. The room was extremely tall, reaching all the way up toward where the triangular hallway was. The stage appeared to extend through the center of the room, until coming up to another stage at the end. On either side, Azuri could see long tables with chairs lined up. There were probably about twelve tables total on either side, going from one end to the stage, just barely touching the side of it. At max capacity, you could probably fit about one thousand dragons easily in here. There were still small little rooms hanging off the side of the walls that could seat five more dragons if desired. It reminded Azuri of old styled theaters with high ranking power sitting in high end seats. Supposedly, that was the same thing in this case.

Azuri looked throughout the room, noticing that it was also fairly packed as well. There were too many dragons to count, and even then it would be hard to find him within the crowd. Sandstorm was still in awe at the sight of the dining room. Her eyes were trying to gather as much information as possible from the interior alone. Not even including the amount of dragons in there with them. Azuri tried seeing if Boss Biss was around, but it appeared that he wasn't there. This made Azuri both comforted, but also really worried. I swear to all Lanta, if BossBiss is with Uhrwerk. He thought to himself as he hopped onto the stage to get a height advantage. Sandstorm joined with me onto the stage, keeping the sword tight in her claws.

"Do you see him anywhere?" She whispered over to him. Azuri tried scanning throughout the room for Uhrwerk, but he was still having a hard time. He shook his head, still having an expression of concern.

"No. . ."

Sandstorm started to think to herself, lifting her claw up to her chin.

"I'm starting to get really worried," he whispered over to her, making her turn toward him.

"I'm sure he's okay, he couldn't have gone far," she comfortingly told him as she placed a claw onto his shoulder and patted it. After failing to find any sign of him anywhere, he sighed sadly.

"Let's check another room." Azuri started to lead the way out of the room. He tried thinking of where he could possibly be. If he had to guess, he was most likely looking at the new Stellarian bedrooms with those two other dragons. The problem was, he didn't know where they could be or how to get there. "Do you have any idea on where to find the Stellarian rooms?" Sandstorm thought to herself for a second, then her face lit up.

"Actually, I think I do! Come on!" She went ahead of him and started to fly off through one of the doorways of the balcony. Azuri was following her, a little skeptical. While following her, she eventually led them to what appeared to be the small city of the Stellaris palace. She landed in the middle of the street and looked around at the nearly empty streets. Azuri followed her through the streets and noticed a familiar dragon walking through a door at the end of one of the streets.

"Wait!" He whispered over to her, making her stop and look over to Azuri. "I think I just saw a familiar dragon over there." He pointed over to where he saw the dragon at. Azuri led the way again, starting to sprint toward down the street. Sandstorm followed closely behind, struggling to keep up with him. Eventually, both of them ran up to what appeared to be a small house. The lights were on inside, which reflected off the ground from the window. Azuri slowly and quietly approached it, looking through the window. That's when he saw three dragons inside, one of them casting a familiar green glow on the far left.

"That's Uhrwerk!" Azuri whispered frantically over to Sandstorm. She looked through the window and toward the three dragons inside. She made a hm sound, before turning to Azuri.

"So, what's your plan?" She asked, her expression was still a delighted smile. Azuri was happy to see Uhrwerk, but his face was clearly growing worried. I need to get Uhrwerk out now before either BossBiss shows up or the guards spot us trying to sneak inside. He knew time was of the essence, with Sandstorm completely untouched by Boss Biss they were a prime target. He was pretty sure an unfamiliar voice within your kingdom was very suspicious. Of course, that's dependent on whether Sandstorm was actually thinking to herself right now, and if she wasn't then they could be safe from him for now.

"Well, you're more intimidating than me and you did say that you killed dragons before. So, I think you should keep the other two at bay while I give Uhrwerk this." Her expression grew very satisfied, like what he just said was a compliment to her.

"I'll pick the lock, I have two bobby pins on my wing" Azuri stopped her before she could walk over to the door.

"Or... We could just knock on the door." She seemed to be a little disappointed to hear that. It was like she wanted to commit crimes without care. Azuri didn't know if he should be okay with that or not. Maybe in this case it was okay, but it was fine to just knock on the door. It's not like they weren't home or anything like that. Azuri went over to the door and knocked on it. Sandstorm stood beside him, Azuri noticing that the sword didn't have a glow of heat from it, which made it harder to see in the thermal vision. They heard voices on the other side, and the sound of slowly approaching footsteps.

As soon as the door opened and revealed one of the two unknown dragons, Sandstorm took off the bracelet and pinned them against the wall, putting the sword up to their neck. Azuri just shrugged and rolled his eyes as he walked inside and spotted Uhrwerk standing beside the other dragon. "Don't move, or I'll slice your head off." Sandstorm said with a menacing voice, and had a scary look on her face. She seemed deeply serious and threatening.

"You again?!" Uhrwerk said, taking a few steps back. "Stay back!"

"Wait, it's okay! I'm not here to hurt you."

"Yeah right!" The dragon beside him said with a frustrated look. "I don't believe you!" Azuri looked over to Sandstorm, who started to push the pinned dragon from the wall and over to the other. She pointed the sword out toward them and forced them to the corner. While Uhrwerk glanced at them, then at Sandstorm, before returning to Azuri.

"Don't hurt them, please! They're my friends!" Uhrwerk pleaded with Azuri.

"We're not here for them, we're here for you. I just want you to take this." Azuri took out the baggie with the herb inside and held it out in his claw. Uhrwerk shook his head immediately at the sight of the herb.

"No way! I'm no druggie, get it away from me!"

"It's a suppressant, that maniac did something to you. I just want to help you get him out of your head. You just need to trust me." Azuri tried using a comforting voice to convince him. He continued to shake his head, turning to the other dragons then back to Azuri and Sandstorm. "Please Uhrwerk, do it for me. I promise, if it doesn't do anything to you, we will both walk away and leave you be." Uhrwerk stared down at the herb in Azuri's claw, examining it. He looked back to the other dragons on the other end of Sandstorm's sword.

"Just do it Uhrwerk, so they can leave us alone!" One of them cried. The other one nodded in agreement, but didn't say anything. Uhrwerk turned back to the herb and hesitantly took it from Azuri's claws. He carefully opened it and pulled one out with his paw. He examined it in his paw for a few seconds, before popping it into his mouth. It felt like the entire room just froze as Uhrwerk swallowed the herb and stared at Azuri for a long minute. The dragons stared at him, conflicted and worried that at any second, Uhrwerk would flop over and die.

"Okay. . . I did it? Now-." Before he could finish his question, he stopped himself and started to blink his eyes multiple times. Then, his eyes met with Azuri's and his eyes lit up in shock. "Wh-Where am I, Azuri?" He placed a claw up to his forehead, then started to rub his eyes. He was trying to comprehend what just happened.

"Uhrwerk? Is it-." He approached him slowly and cautiously, "Are you, you?" Uhrwerk turned his head toward the other two dragons, then flinched in terror, then again at Sandstorm's sword pointing at them and her frightening demeanor. When she saw Uhrwerk looking at her, she waved and smiled widely at him like she was doing nothing wrong. His eyes finally met with Azuri's, Uhrwerk's expression was extreme confusion.

"W-Where am I? I could've sworn I was just-." Azuri felt weights from his shoulder lift as he approached Uhrwerk and pulled him into a tight hug. Uhrwerk was shocked at the sudden hug, but quickly accepted it. Azuri could tell he's been needing it for a long while now. Sandstorm lowered the sword, but still kept her eyes on the cowardly dragons in the corner.

"Thank goodness, I'm so glad that it worked!" Azuri said as he pulled away from the hug, and smiled at Sandstorm.

"Wh-What worked?" Uhrwerk asked, a little confused, then noticed that he was holding something. He lifted it up in his claws and into the light. "What's this?" He sniffs into the bag for a second, before his wave gets a weird expression from the smell. Pulling away from it and covering his nose with a claw.

"It's okay Uhrwerk, it's just a medicine to remove the bad stuff." Azuri kept his claws on his shoulders as he stared into his eyes. "What's the last thing you remember?" Uhrwerk lowered his claw from his nose and started thinking heavily.

"I was in the dining room waiting for you, then I saw BossBiss fly in and land onto the stage. The next thing I know, I only saw white and a black silhouette of a dragon whispering to me." Uhrwerk was growing quieter and softer as he spoke to Azuri. Like he was returning back to his shy self. Which was a good thing, it meant he was back to normal to whatever BossBiss did to him. "Now I'm here, wh-what just happened?"

Azuri turned to Sandstorm, wondering if it's a good time to tell him about the mind control of BossBiss. Though, the dragons near them were still huddled in the corner from Sandstorm's terrorizing appearance. Maybe he should first leave with Uhrwerk before telling him anything. BossBiss could be coming at any second now to check up on them. "I'll tell you later, but first we should leave before he comes." Uhrwerk didn't reply, but he nodded in response. Azuri turned to Sandstorm, and gave her a nod to start leaving. Azuri led Uhrwerk out of the house and onto the street. Sandstorm slowly walked backwards from the house, still pointing the sword at them.

"If you guys make a move, I will kill you!" She threatened them with an evil grin now forming on her face. When she got to the doorway, she closed it and turned around to Uhrwerk and Azuri. Azuri was the first one off the ground as usual, leading them both out of the city. Since Uhrwerk couldn't follow them while they were invisible, they didn't cloak themselves. Azuri knew that this could be a huge risk for the guards to spot them.

They finally flew over the walls of the Stellaris palace, and were now beginning to fly away from the area. Neither of them knew where they were going, they just needed to get out as quickly as possible. That's at least until Sandstorm called out something to both of them, "Um guys, I think guards are starting to follow us." Azuri turned his head and saw about thirty Stellarians beginning to fly after them. "Should I slay them all?" Sandstorm asked with another delightful grin.

Azuri shook his head, "No, we need to either lose them or go somewhere that they won't follow." Sandstorm's eyes widened.

"Oh! If that's the case, then let's head back to my place! Us sky dragons don't like those pesky Stellarian guards near our palace. If they see any fly toward us, they grow very defensive." Azuri thought to himself for a second, before nodding to her. Sandstorm started leading the way, Azuri gesturing Uhrwerk to follow them. Which he did willingly, but with a frown on his face. It looked like he was still trying to piece together what happened back there. Azuri looked back toward the Stellarian dragons who were still following them. Oh dear, I hope Sandstorm is right and that they'll keep us safe. The last thing Azuri wanted right now, is for them to die in mid-air literally right after saving Uhrwerk's life. He glanced back toward the Stellarian's that were following them. They didn't appear to be stopping any time soon. This is about to get really ugly.
