"Oh, headmaster?"

Quills fluttered about, scanning lines on pages, occasionally making corrections. The wolf was staring intently into a blue, lightly glowing focus of his own creation when the pink badger had entered his office. He hurriedly put the paw carved crystal down, the glow faded and all the quills floating above the desk clattered unceremoniously to the desk lifeless. He hadn't been expecting a visitor, and he hadn't figured out how to stop the spell with grace after he started it up.

"Needs fine tuning..." Splicer muttered to himself.

"What was that Splicer?" The badger asked, interested in the wolf's new creation, noting that the wolf was always finding some new way to cut down the amount of work he had to do. He pondered if it was in the name of efficiency or just pure lazyness, either way the wolf was one of his best instructors, always on time, no one ever had any issues with the wolf. Laguna the headmaster didn't have any particular gripes with them either, only one or two things bothered him, but he finally had a fix for that.

"N-nothing Laguna, er, I mean sir." The wolf was sweating a bit, a visit from the headmaster made his nerves sit on end. The weren't frequent and they were never anything serious but the wolf always wondered if he had messed something up somewhere and anticipated the yelling to begin, but it never did.

"No need to be so formal with me, just checking in."

"Of course sir, er , I mean Laguna. Is there something I can help you with?"

"I'm not quite sure yet. You've been here a while haven't you?"

Laguna casually asked, walking over to the wolf's deck and picking up the focus crystal the wolf had set down and concentrated for a second. The crystal sprung to life, glowing a vibrant pink, as the quill began rising from the desk, spinning in circles. Too much, the glow dimmed, the quills righted themselves and flew over toward the corner of the desk, lining themselves on the corner of the desk.

"Yes, I'd say I'm more than comfortable here." Splicer couldn't help but feel jealous, it had taken him days to figure out how to make that spell work, not to mention painstakingly translating and carving the sygils into the crystal. And there was someone who could pick it up in an instant standing in front of him.

"Ever consider a vacation?" Laguna looked at the crystal, then up at the wolf to size him up.

"Not particularly, I'm more than happy to keep working as I have." Splicer replied, wondering if this was some long winded way of being let go.

"Of course, of course. You seem to be happy here, which is good. But there's just one flaw you have..." Laguna began talking almost to himself as he spent more time focusing on the crystal than what he was actually saying.

"One flaw?" Splicer asked, his ears sinking. He was about to be fired.

"Yes, you're just, you're a wolf!" Laguna said as if that would be a surprise to Splicer.

"What?" He was going to be fired for being a wolf?

"Yes, I'm much more into otters you see."

"I-I, What? What does that have to do with me?" Now he had no idea what was going on.

"Well I would much prefer if you were an otter is all." Laguna found what he was looking for. He pulled out a golden scribing pen with a diamond tip and etched a new sigil into the crystals surface.

"HEY! That's mine! I don't care what you'd like me to be but you can't just come in here like you own the place." Splicer stood up from his seat, fur bristling.

"Oh? But I do own this place. Which you seem to have forgotten. I'll fix that while I'm at it."

Splicer stammered trying to say something but he realized the badger was right. Even still the dismissive attitude Laguna was showing him insulted his pride and he reached forward to snatch the crystal from the badger's paw but he stopped short. His fingers were stopped just short of the pink crystal and he realized what was added to the crystal. Wolf, it was right under the word feather. His crystal focus was inscribed with a complex series of sigils which allowed the wolf to move the objects witten to the central pillar in whichever way he wanted. He never imagined anyone using his crystal to control a living being let alone himself. That one word gave Laguna full control over the wolf's body and no matter how hard Splicer struggled he couldn't break his own spell.

"On you knees." Laguna ordered. He didn't even need to say it as the wolf's body contorted itself into a kneeling position, but he figured he'd make the wolf's final show theatrical.

Splicer couldn't even squirm as his body floated into the air and came to rest on top of his desk.

"I've got you a gift, maybe this will help you remember your place, do you want it? Huh puppy?" Laguna taunted, pulling a golden collar out from his pocket.

Splicer felt his paws coming in close to his chest, pointing down in a begging position, his tail wagged and his head nodded up and down.

"Now that's a goooooood puppy..." Laguna cooed, petting the wolf between the ears, knowing how hard they were probably struggling in their head. Not for much longer though.

Splicer saw the golden collar and felt his body moving against his will. Laguna placed the collar on the desk beside him and began etching away, just on the outskirts of his vision. He strained as hard as he could to no avail. He felt his heart sink knowing that nothing could be done to stop this fate.

"Annnnnnnnnd done, your new collar is ready." Laguna brought the collar up to hang it in front of the wolf's face, letting them get a glimpse before moving it to strap around the wolf's neck.

Splicer put everything into avoiding the collar shutting around his neck, all the energy in his muscles were directed towards his neck, which moved back. Only slightly.

"Honestly? Impressive. Still though, it's time for your indefinite sabbatical..." Laguna admitted, knowing the wolf shouldn't have been able to move at all. It must have been exhausting to even move that much. He clasped the collar around the wolf's neck, watching as the buckle melted away leaving only a Golden band wrapped around their neck.

Splicer felt the collar, felt it tighten around his neck, felt the buckle going away until it was just a uniform circle of pressure. It tightened further, he wondered if it would just keep going until he couldn't breath, until it just cut his head off. He didn't know what was happening, and it was so sudden that his mind was racing with awful scenarios of his demise. A tear rolled down his cheek. A ginger paw wiped the tear away.

"Don't be like that, this is for the best." Laguna finished wiping the wolf's cheek and stepped back to watch his magic.

Splicer felt disgust, contempt. Warm? The collar around his neck was radiating a gentle warmth. It started from the collar but moved out in pulsing waves, filling more of his body with each one. He wanted to stay mad, but each pulse calmed his mind down. Rage melted from the heat to anger, anger melting to discontent, discontent to nothing. Then calm, his mind was at peace.

Something is wrong. Splicer thought. Shouldn't I be angry? He found it hard to justify his anger when he felt so good inside. He didn't even mind when his clothes melted away, leaving him naked and on full display for the badger. The badger, wasn't he angry at them? No that couldn't be the case, he was the one who was making him feel so good. His tip was starting to emerge from his sheath, the badger had made him feel so good, he wanted to make the badger feel just as good. He'd make it his life's purpose. He wouldn't make it his life's purpose, it already was his purpose, it always had been.

The gold collar began moving, warping, wrapping the wolf's entire body until not a trace of his grey fur was left visible. He was a golden statue of a wolf now, perfectly frozen. He could even imagine the gold entering his head and surrounding his brain. Ecstasy. The only word left on his mind as the pulsing warmth began pushing out memories of his old life. Each wave removed something he thought he knew and replaced it with a new, true memory. Meeting the enigmatic headmaster who suddenly appeared with the offer of employment upon seeing his unconventional means of magic. Gone. He had met his owner while he was out in the streets, cold winter air penetrating his fur. No home, shivering. The badger had reached his paw out and touched him, filling him with a similar warmth as the one that currently surrounded him. Everything was pushed out, it felt good for it all to go away until there was one thing left. His name. Splicer.

He was still Splicer, he was sure of it. But a completely new life was imprinted on his brain, one completely fabricated but true enough to the wolf. But he wasn't a wolf anymore. While the changes in his mind occurred his body was shifting as well, each memory of him as a wolf became a fleeting feeling, washed away, instead the new events showed him as an otter. His bushy tail fattened at the base and sharpened to a point at the end. His ears had lost their point, shrunk to small circles on the top of his head. His muzzle receded. Laguna watched the changes take place until the wolf statue had changed into a golden otter.

Slowly as he became more sure of himself, the gold slowly began pulling back up towards his neck. As the gold disappeared it revealed a short, thick chestnut coat. It felt so nice to remember what he was deep down, so nice his tip was throbbing, as if it was begging to cum. But he didn't want to cum, he knew his master would prefer he didn't. Recalling that pushed him over a precipice, his mind was flooded with endorphins, but all he did was dribble pre through the bars of his new golden cage. It was snug around his sheath, letting just the faintest hint of his tip show. But it wasn't a new cage, it had been there for as long as he had known his master. The otter shivered in pleasure. The golden cocoon was back to just a collar and cage. Splicer the wolf was gone, Splicer the otter blinked, crawling off his desk and towards his owner, staying on all fours.

Each centimeter forward he moved, a golden beam of light connected his collar to another golden band wrapped around the badger's paw. One final scrap of resistance was saying to crawl away but he pushed that thought away. Ridiculous, he wouldn't have it any other way. This was what he was meant to do. He nuzzled up against the badger's leg, feeling that soft, luscious pink fur. The light had solidified into a golden leash connecting the two furs.

"Oh..." Splicer the new otter purred. "Head, master?"
