Day 19 - Possession

"The devil's in the details"

By Patrick D. Lambert

Commissioned by Noku

Pathetic was the perfect definition to describe the blue dragon waiting outside the shady office. You didn't have to know him, it was in plain sight. The tight khaki trousers with an unnecessary black belt and plain white long-sleeve shirt invited even a high-school bully to steal his money; the fear in his yellowish eyes said he wouldn't fight back. The hunched posture did nothing but reinforce the lame aspect he kept repeating to himself was "professional", even when no one at his office put that much care on their look.

3 years working at the same place and he was still acting like the new guy.

He fidgeted with the handler of his brown suitcase, looking around the empty waiting room. No one else was there after the bear walked into the office 15 minutes ago. The place could've very well been the waiting room of any other place: a dentist, a psychologist, a doctor, a lawyer; it had no personality nor any clue of what kind of services were provided there.

A middle table with random magazines scattered all over it invited people to take one to pass the time, but the same lack of order and outdated covers had the opposite effect. The old furniture that looked straight out of a 90's living room, and the wallpaper that had not been changed in years only gave it to the depressing aspect, one that matched with the dragon's posture.

Teryx Commodore kept looking at the door through which he walked in, terrified that someone he knew could appear at any given moment; there, a shady office on the other side of the city and completely far away from his work. He wasn't even sure what kind of service that male provided and he was still scared.

Which led him to inspect the flier again. Anyone with a tiny bit of self-respect would have seen the scam that was; no info, just a bunch of text.

"CAN'T TALK TO PEOPLE?"

"TIRED OF BEING A LOSER?"

"FEELING SICK OF BEING LONELY?"

"We have the solution for it and more!"

And then it was followed by a bunch of random text all over the logo of a crocodile's head. It had the word "scam" written all over it. Teryx was so desperate he ignored the danger completely. He wanted to improve his life yet lacked the courage to do so. What a shame to his species.

The door opened, and the black bear came out. Teryx remembered a trembling giant who walked in just 15 minutes ago; now he had a smile irradiating confidence like a lighthouse in the middle of the sea. Teryx couldn't stop from catching some of that confidence, just a bit of it and it still was enough to straighten his posture and wag his tail in happiness. The bear even threw a blink at him, one tiny gesture that managed to put some blush on Teryx's cheeks, and who felt the temptation to follow him out of there.

Of course, by the time he made up his mind, the bear was no longer there, and instead, he looked at the blue crocodile standing outside the office. His black suit gave him a confident and mysterious aspect, one that didn't match with the waiting room's overall aesthetic. There were big muscles packed under the wool suit, and one good flex would be more than enough to tear the fabric apart.

"Mr. Commodore, please come in," the blue crocodile called him.

Teryx stood up. A force of habit led him to adjust his red tie, then a tiny detail crossed his mind.

"Wait, how did you know my name?"

"You signed the guest book. At the lobby, remember?"

"Oh, right."

He felt like an idiot for asking that, especially when the crocodile rolled his eyes; although his weak smile told him he found the mistake funny in a good way.

With his suitcase in hand, Teryx followed the crocodile into the office.

It was... exactly like the waiting room. Tasteless, and boring, with nothing saying what kind of services were provided there. A soulless environment that killed what little confidence Teryx had gained through the bear. His first thought was of a Principal's office; not the cool one, but the one that hates his work and wanna make kids suffer for his bad choices in life.

The furniture was the pure definition of generic, with not a single detail that could give away the crocodile's taste. A desk with two chairs, a couple of bookshelves, a metal file cabinet, and that was it. No frames on the walls. No tiny sculptures on the desk. There wasn't even a plaque with the crocodile's name. Just an office. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Please, sit down."

The crocodile sat on his respective side of the desk while Teryx took the other chair. He stared at the beefy reptile, his suit still displaying a mix of respect and fear, now empowered by the posture he adopted on the other side. While the desk wasn't that big, Teryx did notice a huge gap between them, an invisible one made by their attitude.

"My name is Noku. And I'm here to help you with your self-esteem troubles. Isn't that why you came here?" The crocodile rushed to ask, noticing the surprise on Teryx's face.

"Y-yes?! How did you-?"

But Noku gave him no time to reply. He took control of the conversation from the very beginning.

"Why it's obvious! Just look at yourself. I beg you, please do not take this wrong, but the last thing people out there feel after seeing you is confidence. You. Do. Not. Express. Confidence. And once again, do not take this wrong. I'm saying it for your own good. Because it's important that you know the blame is on you. And you must take responsibility for your own mistakes."

He spoke candidly and energetically, at the right tone and speed to make it impossible for Teryx to interrupt. His charisma overwhelmed the cowardly dragon, who tried to follow up with the hand gestures. But it was just... too much.

"Just look at yourself. You have all the tools to conquer the world if you want to! You have the looks and the muscles and the body! Dragons are supposed to be fierce. And you are! But you are not taking advantage of your full potential. You are so scared to take control of your life!"

Noku stood up. His swift moves put him right next to Teryx in the blink of an eye, an unnatural speed for the kind of clothes he was wearing. The severity of his brown eyes as he studied Teryx kept him from questioning that oddity. Teryx tried to remain firm and not allow the crocodile to intimidate him, a task that proved impossible. Just his presence alone was enough for the dragon to shrug in fear.

The sharp horns crowning his head. His silky mane shared color with his eyes: a bright yellow like the sun itself. The short trimmed fur almost passed as scales at first sight, with just the fur on his cheeks standing out a bit. The tones of his body were a balance between deep and sky blue, but most of it was hidden under the nerdy clothes; clothes that, despite the lame look they gave him, couldn't conceal the chiseled body under them. Those and other minor details were exactly what the crocodile inspected.

Dominated by his presence, Teryx didn't perceive the desire in Noku's eyes. He couldn't even hold his look. He only shrugged in place and waited to hear what the crocodile would say. The dragon didn't even find the courage to speak up, even when he was physically bigger and stronger than Noku.

"But that's what I'm here for. I'm here to help you. I'm here to make those traits shine! And the first thing I need you to do is... relax."

Noku put his hands on each shoulder. His grip was firm and strong, and it came so suddenly that Teryx jumped on the chair. However, those thick and fat fingers knew exactly what to do, as Noku began to massage the stiff muscles that had been bothering the dragon.

He felt a pinch of pain at first, then came the relief. The satisfaction was instantaneous, and the scared dragon sighed happily while he felt the boulder over his shoulders crumble under the expert touch of the crocodile.

"That's right. You must relax first. Don't worry about anything. I'll take good care of you. Just breathe and relax. It's very important that you clear your mind of any negative thoughts before we move forward. Just breathe deeply and put all those thoughts aside. One by one. One after another. And focus on your breathing. The key to confidence is being relaxed."

It was impossible not to follow his lead. The crocodile knew what to do and say. It no longer surprised him why the bear came out of the office with that smile on his face: Noku's charisma and confidence were contagious, and Teryx had started to feel them spread to him through that innocent massage. Why was he allowing a total stranger to touch him? It didn't matter, he was someone he could trust.

It was all in the smile.

Of course, the dragon didn't notice anything wrong. He knew nothing about mystical powers, the type of powers Noku was using to possess him. The massage had been nothing but an excuse to put in motion a spell that allowed him to enter into his body, transforming the crocodile into a being of pure energy that fused with Teryx's essence.

His fingers, then his hands, then his arms, and before Teryx had a chance to snap out of it, Noku dived into the dragon and merged with body and soul.

Teryx felt the impact. He couldn't breathe properly, his lungs almost full with a cold, cold presence. He got up from the chair immediately, just to hear the wooden floor creak under the extra weight he had gained. With a hand, he tried to stop his racing heart from jumping off his chest. His head dizzy, his vision blurry, and the abrupt sensation something, or someone, was choking him.

"N-Noku...?"

He wanted to look behind. He couldn't. His body refused to obey. He tried again, and instead, he smashed a hand against the desk with all his might. He struggled to think, to act, to exist. He felt an unbearable pain from a head that had become a balloon about to explode. His beating hard hammered at his ears while he perceived even the blood running through his veins. The fusion of two beings into one was turning into a crushing experience for a dragon who lacked the courage to fight back.

But that's what he deserved for being weak...

"What?! No!"

The intrusive thought flew through his head with the speed of an arrow and threw the dragon to his knees. He sent both hands up his head and pulled from both horns to try and crack open his head. The pressure inside was building up quickly and threatened to explode at any moment.

Because he never had the courage to fight back...

"STOP!"

Another intrusive thought, but one he knew was true. Trapped in the jail that was his cowardice, he believed a stupid flier that promised him the solution to a problem only he could fix.

Of course, you needed someone else to fix your problems...

There was nothing he could say against it. It was the truth. Teryx had always been a coward who needed someone else to speak up for him. His family, friends, and boyfriend; it was always another voice who expressed what he couldn't say.

This body is a total waste in your hands...

He had been complimented before. People had come to him saying how handsome he was, only for his introverted attitude to push them away. It's not that he wanted to, but he didn't know how to respond. He found it hard to believe other people saw him as someone attractive. So it was true that a body like his was being wasted by his shy attitude.

The intrusive thoughts kept repeating over and over again until he couldn't hold his laugh anymore. A mad smile grew in his maw, and it contrasted with the joy and fear visible in his eyes, whose pupils had turned into a spinning swirl of white and blue. Tears rolled down his cheeks while he descended into madness, his consciousness fighting back the invader who wanted to take control over him.

But Teryx was too weak to fight back. He was too weak and too scared to resist. The swirl sucked off his free will, and Teryx only chanted between laughs the same intrusive thoughts that kept repeating in his head.

"It's what I deserve for being weak...I don't have the courage... I need someone to fix everything for me... I'm wasting my body..."

And the more he repeated those twisted words, the stronger they got engraved in his corrupted mind, giving the crocodile more and more control over him. It wasn't evident at first, he was just a broken dragon in the middle of a mental breakdown, crying and drooling and laughing while his mind got torn to pieces by the presence of another being more powerful than him.

But when his mind was long gone, the physical changes began to appear. An already athletic body grew more muscles, enough to rip his clothes apart. The shades of blue darkened to approach the same tone of Noku's scales. When the swirls disappeared, the yellowish eyes had turned violet. And the madness began to disappear from his expression, replaced by an overconfident, almost smug smile that had never been seen on Teryx's face.

His maniac laugh went down to a giggle.

"It's what I deserve for being weak...I don't have the courage... I need someone to fix everything for me... I'm wasting my body..."

Teryx uttered his final words. His mind succumbed quickly to Noku's power and charisma. It was even laughable for the crocodile how little effort he had to put into it as if the dragon had been waiting for something like this all his life.

Maybe he was. It's not like it mattered anyway. His body and mind were his to control, and he knew exactly what to do with his new host.

When the possession finished, Teryx stood up carefully. Pieces of cloth fell down his muscular body and the remaining ones he made sure to tear them apart until he was completely naked. Even his cock had gained a couple of extra inches; not to mention the girth.

"I'm not sure I have clothes of this size..."

Teryx went to the metallic cabinet. Instead of files and folders, he had clothes of different sizes for those occasions. And after rummaging a bit through the small bags with black suits, he let out a sigh and took at least a jockstrap to cover his junk.

And even that was small; tight around the waist and remarking an obscene bulge on the white cloth. But it would suffice.

The dragon gave himself a quick look before flexing, already in love with the sculptural body his host had hidden under those lame clothes.

"Don't worry. I'll give it back; after I get bored of it," Teryx--or more precisely, Noku--said to himself. Even his voice denoted the new-gained confidence. "In the meantime, sit back and pay attention. I'm gonna show you how a real dragon should behave."
