"Oh yeah...I kinda forgot about that...I feel like I'm the one who got the better end of this deal...say...what's a guy like you doing here on Orion?" Rocket asked.

"Trying to save up money for the academy." Kaiden sighed.

"You wanna be a space captain?" Rocket asked.

"Kinda...I want to be a freelance transporter, see the galaxy and all that it has." Kaiden explained.

Rocket seemed to be in thought for a bit "Hey...if I sponsor you for the rest of the money you need, can I get to be part of your crew? You'll need someone who can handle tough situations out there."

"I don't really have anything to give you in return..." Kaiden said, it felt like he would just be taking advantage of Rocket.

"Sure you do!" Kaiden jumped a bit as Rocket grabbed his dick.

"I've only had this thing twice and I'm already hopelessly addicted...and I've never really felt so connected to anyone like you...I've never just clicked with anyone like you." Rocket blushed, clearly not used to talking about things like this.

Kaiden couldn't really see a downside to this, he'd get the money he needed right away, get a really competent partner and someone that was amazing in bed.

"I still don't really see what you get out of this Rocket..." Kaiden said teasingly.

"Fuck...you really are gonna make me say it ain't you?" Rocket blushed intensely.

"I'm just teasing you. I'm not forcing you to say it if you don't want to..." Kaiden tried to say, but Rocket was already readying himself.

"I wanna be your partner, in and out of bed, if you get anyone else I wanna be your main partner. I wanna go with you wherever you go, you...you make me feel less lonely than I've ever felt..." Kaiden hadn't expected a full on confession like that.

"Come here." Kaiden pulled Rocket close and they shared a kiss. "There, that should seal our deal." Kaiden smirked.

Rocket looked genuinely happy "Meeting you was the best mistake I've ever made, don't ever leave me please..."

"Never..." Kaiden promised as he hugged Rocket close.

Rocket Raccoon's time as a lone bounty hunter came to an end, though certainly not how Rocket had thought it would, but he couldn't find himself complaining, he was happy for the first time he could remember.

While Kaiden finished learning at the academy Rocket cleaned up any loose threads from his career of being a bounty hunter.

When Kaiden got his diploma he and Rocket would travel far and wide and have many adventures and put together a team of misfits like themselves that had a lot better synergy and relationships than the Guardians of the galaxy, Rocket's former team, had.

Rocket genuinely smiled as he thought back on it all as he laid beside Kaiden in their bed.

"Kaiden...I...I..." Rocket finally pulled himself together "I love you..." Rocket finally risked opening his heart.

Kaiden didn't hesitate to pull the small raccoon close "I love you too Rocket." He'd been in love with the small anthro raccoon for some time, they had been through so much together, but that's also why he'd waited for Rocket to make the first move, he knew Rocket had a hurt heart and didn't want to put any pressure on it to open.

Rocket felt relief beyond words hearing Kaiden loved him back, the uncertainty of being rejected had been gnawing at him for some time now, with his doubts cleansed Rocket finally felt that he fully belonged somewhere...at Kaiden's side. Mistaking Kaiden for his actual target had truly been the best mistake he'd ever made...
