The sound of boots and talons sounded off the floor of the cave as the pair walked on. Light could be seen at the end of the cave.

Marcus was eating a piece of smoked meat, that was what most of the provisions were, answering questions about his world that Jerin asked. When they reached the end of the cave the light was bright, it hurt their eyes until they adjusted to it.

"Wow, that's one huge plain. " Marcus breathed as he looked out at it. It was a large grassland.

"You want to stand their looking at the scenery or do you want to get moving?" Jerin chuckled at the look on Marcus's face.

"Huh? Uh, no we should keep moving then." He said back, they started to walk down a hill, it was nice outside, barely any clouds, around eighty degrees out, and a pleasant breeze blew in. Off in the distance deer and other wild animals were running around and doing what ever they wanted. Marcus walked no more than two feet before falling face first into the dirt. Jerin busted out laughing when Marcus pulled himself up, mud all over his face. He spit out the small amount that got in his mouth. He grabbed a handful of mud and threw it at Jerin. It hit her full in the face with a SPALT!

"Now that's funny!" He laughed, the mud covered her face, he knew that he was dead meat now and took off running. Carefully trying to avoid the small holes and pockets of mud that were all over the place, falling would be a bad idea right now. He ran and did a running front flip over a large pool of mud. When he landed he nearly lost his footing and would have fallen face first in mud again!

"Get back here!" Jerin yelled at Marcus smirking, he ran down a hill and tripped...flipping end over end but somehow caught himself in mid-fall and was able to run the rest of the way down. Jerin was leap into the air after him and overshot her jump and landed in front of him. She ducked as he jumped over her.

"That the best you can do? The Trainees can do better!" Marcus called out; he looked back and wasn't paying attention of what was in front of him. He turned at the last second to see the end of a cliff that dropped out into a large spring thirty-five feet below. He came to a halt five feet from the edge, which was too close, he thought, I do not want another bath! Marcus turned around and was tackled by Jerin who didn't see the cliff or that he had stopped.

"Smooth move," he said before firing up the jetpacks engine and fell up to a good height, hovering in the air with Jerin still holding him. She was about to open her mouth when...the jetpack made a sudden and loud backfire! It sputtered and died, they seemed to float for a scant time before gravity took hold again.

"Ohhh shit...." Was all Jerin could say before they started freefalling. She was still clinging to Marcus who was smacking at a very small box on is chest that would deploy the parachute inside the jetpack. When he hit it one last time it deployed, it jerked them hard as it blasted out of a small hole in the back. Jerin let go and started to fly in the air, gliding in the air next to him. They weren't that high in the air, he was heading for the ground.

She suddenly dropped back behind him and started to fly a little to close, she was looking at the parachute. She looked closely at the cords holding it but got to close....the cords caught her fore legs, she tried to pull away but only succeeded in getting completely tangled in it.

It scared the crap out of Marcus who cursed in fear before he found out what happened as they started to tumble to the ground, they were over trees thankfully and were only about two and a half stories up when it happened. "Jerin, what the fuck did you do!" he yelled as the world spun around in circles.

They landed in the trees, branches snapped and bent as they fell through, the chute ripped apart as the branches cut through the fabric. It caught and stuck on the branches, stopping their fall, Marcus was hanging up side down, and Jerin was tangle up and hanging upside down swinging. It had happened so fast he didn't know how to react or stop it.

"Hey, I'm sorry," Jerin cried, "I didn't expect this to happen!" she wasn't lying she had never seen anything like his parachute ever. Marcus grunted as he pulled himself up trying to reach his knife that was in its holster on his shin, what a wonderful place for it to be when he is upside down and tangled up in a parachute! It was hard to reach on the count that the chute hand tangled him up pretty good and some of the fabric was in the way.

"Why does this crap always happen to me? ......this is what the tenth time that dam jetpack has screwed up on me!" Marcus groaned as he pulled the knife out of its holster, his fingers just barely managed to grab it. He gripped the knife and started to cut through the one of the cords, what happened next they both didn't expect.

"Will you please hurry up, I don't want to be up here all day." Jerin protested it was starting to get uncomfortable. Marcus cut through another cord, but that one was the one that was supporting both of them by almost eighty percent. And when he cut it...

The cords that had been holding the two snapped apart as he cut the last one that was holding most of their weight; he fell to the ground on his back with a THUD! Jerin was still stuck for a few seconds before she fell and landed on top of him, her mouth pressed against his when she landed, kissing him on accident!

It had shocked them both, but they didn't stop it right away, Jerin pressed into the kiss. Marcus didn't push her off but let her kiss him; it felt amazing. Jerin pulled back, shocked that this had happened and worried at how Marcus would react.

"I'm sorry," She blurted out, "I didn't do that on purpose." She jumped off of Marcus who was stunned. She was blushing uncontrollably now.

"Wow," he said in an amazed tone, "that was amazing." Jerin was shocked, she would have thought that he would have been upset or mad that this had happened.

"You're not disgusted or mad?" Jerin asked confused and happy at the same time. She hoped that he liked her, because the second she saw him that day she had fallen in love with him and wanted to be with him.

"Why would I be mad or upset," said back with a look of confusion of his face, but then blushed a bit when he told her, "I liked it a lot. I kinda didn't want it to end. You are the first girl that has ever done that to me, and possible the first girl I have ever liked." When he said the last part he face was redder than a Minigun with a red hot barrel.

"Y-you like me?" Jerin asked shocked. Marcus nodded.

"More like I have a crush on you, can't help it, you are a beautiful person, who is very kind. You are the only one I have ever had a crush on and I love you a lot." He was having a hard time saying this; he had never opened up like this to anyone.

Jerin was stunned when Marcus said he liked her, he was the first person she had ever had a crush on, and he felt the same way about her! She just wanted to pounce on him and kiss him to death. But she stopped her self, instead she walked up to him and gave him a kiss on the mouth, he returned it. They stopped a few seconds later, now wasn't the right time to get a lovey dovy on each other, they still had a ways to go before they reached their destination.

"You know since we have a two week trek, I could help train you to use your powers, or power. It is that hard and it could be very helpful for you in the future." Jerin said with a smile. "If you want me to that is, do you want me to?" she said, blushing all the while.

He smiled and said, "Sure, I would be more than happy if you thought me how to use my power or powers."

"Ah...so that's why her growth rate is different from ours," Ignitus mumbled as he read through one of the old scroll he had found on the Ancient ones. "They grow at different rate, and by the time they are a year they are already more than half way grown... and are fully developed to have children...interesting...a dying breed, how sad."

***

"So," Jerin asked, "why did you join, the USCM?" they were walking along one of the old trails, it had not been used in a long time. So they hopefully had no worries about attacks, but you never know...

"I joined because I wanted to help people. Just got tired of all the shit going on and wanted to make a difference in the lives of people." She nodded at that; grabbing a piece of smoked meat she began to eat it.

Marcus sighed, "God, right now I would kill for some eggs, bacon and a tall glass of orange juice with a side of hash browns. And to wash it all down a large mug full of coffee with French vanilla creamer." Jerin's mouth was watering just by mere mention the names of the food and drink.

"That sounds good to me." Jerin said as she licked her lips and went back to eating the piece of meat.

Marcus grabbed a bottle of water out of his pack and took a long drink, and then he offered the bottle to Jerin who greatly accepted the water and drank half of the bottle down. She handed it back to Marcus who drank the rest; he put the bottle back in the pack for later use. He checked his watch; it was 11:20 AM, eighty-five degrees.

"We should stop and take a rest, besides I'm really hungry." Sighed Jerin; they stopped under a small group of trees that created a pleasant shade to cool them off from the summer sun. They were eating a small meal, but it would fill them up for now, they were eating some fruit they found with more of the smoked meat.

"Well," Marcus said as he got up and stretched, "Do you think that you could train me, in using my powers right now...or should we wait for a better time?"

"No," Jerin replied, "we can start right now." She got and led him out into an opening to train. "Okay, drop all your gear, you'll need full mobility. Don't want anything to hold you back." He did as she said and started to get ready.

"See that rock over there," she pointed out, "Try too shoot it..." Marcus calmed himself, and focused on the rock, as he did electricity started to spark out on his hands. Climbing up his arms, and zapping at the ground. It wrapping around his legs too, he held his hands half a foot apart. The electricity traveled betweens hands and into his right, then he thrusted his arm outward towards the rock. A large rod of lightning exploded out of his hand which broke it in half! The rock was the size of a computer chair, now was half that.

"Very nice!" he yelled in delight, even Jerin was surprised at the magnitude of the attack that would take a dragon like her months of training to do! He drew his arms back and threw them forward, firing two balls of electricity out of his hands. They screamed towards the rock and when they hit, they demolished the rock in a heartbeat.

"Wow that was great!" Cried Jerin, he was off to a great start, she had him try different stances and attacks, and he tried to shoot a bird out of the sky and missed. He tried again and got a little mad. But she told him he was just beginning to learn his powers and it would take some time till he got better.

When they stopped Marcus was drenched in sweat, tired and in need of a bath. He had a rag in his hand to wipe away the sweet that was getting into is eyes.

"I need to get cleaned up before I start to stink," he said as he picked up his gear, there was a small stream up ahead to the left. "If I don't, any one that comes with in five feet will blow chunks." Jerin sniffed him a bit and instantly regretted it, he smelled bad.

"Defiantly, we need to get you clean now." She remarked shaking her head, trying to get rid of the smell in her nose. There was a different smell it was his normal scent which she could smell, it was mixing with his sweat. She didn't mind the sweat smell; she would have preferred that he didn't smell that bad right now.

"Man this swim is gonna feel so good," Marcus said as he stripped down to his shorts, and dove in to the crystal clear water. The water was cool and refreshing, he could see in every direction. He swam to the surface, breaking the thin wall that was in his way. He waved to Jerin was standing on a large rock that jutted out of the ground and over looked the stream, she jumped in, like a knife hot through butter she barely broke the surface of the water. Only a few small waves appeared.

Marcus swam over to the edge and grabbed a pair of swimming goggles out of the pack and went back into the water. He dove head first, and instantly met face to face with Jerin, scared both of them. They calmed down a second later, but Jerin's heart was racing, she didn't expect that to happen.

"Next time warn me before you do that." Jerin coughed, spitting out a mouth of water, Marcus had busted out laughing. She pushed him back and under water, and when he came back up he was spitting out water. She then grabbed him and planted a long kiss on him. She broke the kiss slowly, enjoying the feel of the wonderful kiss.

"How was that?" Jerin asked in a soft voice, Marcus opened his mouth to say but n words came out, he tried again same thing. "I'll take that as a very good." She said before kissing him again, he wrapped his arms around her, kissing her back, not wanting it to end. Jerin broke the kiss a second later, before she could catch Marcus he was already under the water.

"Dam, he is quick," she muttered softly as she looked around before sliding under the water. Once under she spotted him not that far away, swimming around. She started to swim towards him as he went up to the surface for some air.

"Man this place is amazing," Marcus exclaimed, "it's so clean, and wonderful here."

"FUCK, hold them off while I bypass the controls!" Conway yelled to his squad from behind the large barriers as bullets whizzed by. They were on an enemy space station; it was very hard to penetrate. The second they hacked into a high security door everything went sour.

"Well hurry up, we don't have much longer before they are all over us!" Johnson roared as he threw a grenade at a large group of enemies hiding behind fallen chunks of debris. Conway pulled out his ComTech hacking device. He ripped open the side panel on the control board to reveal a myriad of colored wires and components, cut open two wires and placed wire clamps on to the bare copper wire. Four holo screens showed up on the ComTech board, his hands swept across the board, eyes seeing and understanding only what a hacker could.

"Oh my god," Carla gasped as she looked down the long corridor, everyone followed her horrified gaze. They saw a ValcazTech T76 battle mech walked out of the heavy weight elevator, it was armed with dead lock scatter missiles, two shoulder mounted M134 Miniguns, two and a half inch titanium steel armor. It stood at eight feet tall, it was an old model mech about ten years, but still it was a force to be reckoned with.

"HO-fuck, time to get this thing open!" Conway yelled, he stopped for a second and saw that he could set off the auto defense turrets and hold it and the others off for a time. Two triple barreled 50. Cal Altas corp. heavy assault turrets popped out of the walls on both sides of the trio. Conway reconfigured the system to attack its own comrades, the weapons, had a motion detection system, liquid cooling system, laser tracking. Night vision systems and emergency back up power cells for when the ship lost power.

The sound of the mechs hydraulics and servo legs moving up and down sounded loudly on the durasteel floor.

"Come on," a voice yelled from inside the mech, his voice amplified by the voice booster inside the mech. "Why don't you come out and show you're self so I can break your bones!" Conway hurriedly turned the power system to the turrets on and slapped a finger down on the engage button. The sentries came to life and instantly, locking onto the large mech. There was a deafening boom as the guns fired the 50. Diamond/ high grade titanium bullets exploded out of the three barrels on the two sentries. The burning hot empty shells clattered to the ground in huge piles, the rounds ripped into the mech, a large quantity hit the visor canopy, it was destroyed, the guns stopped firing a second later, the mech which was only stand up from the force of the bullets now that its operate was noting but spaghetti sauce fell to the ground with a THUD.

There was a whoosh as the door behind the trio opened; Conway had gotten it open just in time too. Two Arkadite missiles screamed towards them.

"Everyone get inside now!" Conway roared and grabbed Carla and Johnson and threw into the other room with inhuman strength, just as the rocket closed into the doors clamped shut, the rockets impacted against them destroying the tracks that the doors used to slide on. Now they were firmly sealed until they were blasted open or cut apart.

Knocked down from the force of the blast, the trio picked them self's up, Conway saw a picture on the ground, and it had fallen out of his jacket pocket. It was a picture of his adopted brother, like him, Marcus. He picked it up and put it back into the pocket, it had been over two years since he last saw his brother. That was before he had to go onto the front lines of a large galactic war. He knew he was alive, last time he heard from him was about three months ago back at the compound where is unit was stationed, along with others. They were on break for the year, but still did missions when they wanted or had too. Just three hours ago he got word that there was an attack at the compound; a few people had been nearly killed. Two people which he didn't get any description of were the cause.

"Please....be ok brother.' he whispered to himself as he looked around the room.

"Where in the hell are we," Carla blurted out, "And what the hell is that thing?" she said pointed to the 'thing' or rather machine.

The room was large, circular and about five stories tall, in the middle of the room was a large disk, covered in a language they didn't under stand. A large Console, sat on the next to it, the was another door but it was toast too... they saw that it was one that they had blasted earlier when they entered, and fired a bomb at large group of people, killed them and wrecked the door.

"Fuck, we are stuck. You got any ideas on how to get use out of here Conway?" Johnson groaned, as he looked at both totaled doors. Conway walked over to the disk, he could quite place it but, it looked oddly familiar to him...like he had seen it a long time ago. Then it hit him.

"This thing,' he pointed out, "It's a teleporter, and how the hell did they make or find this? It we are years away from anything like this!" he looked all over it, team cautiously eyeing the disk; for all they knew it could be a trap.

"If they did made it or find it, we would have know, something like this has a draw back," Johnson said as he looked at the console, " If this works, this maybe and possibly is our only way of making it out of here alive."

"There has to another way out than that, I'm not going in that thing!" Carla said shaking her head, there was a loud that came from the door behind them. They didn't have time to argue, Conway ran up to the console, and started to input coordinates.

He was almost done when the door blasted opened, bullets started to fly everywhere, he finished punching in the numbers and pushed the enter button and ran onto the disk with his team ducking low to the ground. A stray bullet hit the console; it went haywire and scrambled the coordinates as it input a random grouping of numbers and letters.

The disk was bathed with white light as reading its self for the jump. Three large mechs walked into the room and aimed their weapons at the trio, one of them told them to stand down and surrender. Johnson grabbed an EMP/chaff grenade, it was the size of a pop can, one half was filled with an EMP device, the other was full of tiny pieces of metal that messed with the systems of turrets and robots, it didn't work so well against mechs but still helped. He ripped the pin out, squeezed down on the arm and threw it. The grenade bounced of the head of one of the mechs only to detonate a second later as the room was filled with a loud boom and a sea of bright light. The force of the shockwave combined with the EMP and chaff knocked the mechs down, nearly crushing a few people.

When the light cleared they were gone like they had never been their at all. The console was destroyed the screen was busted, they keys shot up, wires hanging out and sparking. There was no way they could be followed, even if they tired to get the data out it would be corrupted and unusable.

Marcus put on his clothes, he was where his casual clothes, which consisted of slightly ripped, faded and worn blue jeans, short sleeved blue Aero T-shirt, a pair NIKE sneakers, a black imitation leather jacket, and a pair of oil color aviator shades. He picked the pack back up, sighed softly now that he was in more comfortable clothes. Jerin who had been lying in the sun, warming herself stood up and started back on their way, they didn't have to go slow they were now trying to get there fast. He wasn't going to use the vehicles...he had no idea if there were any defense systems that were set up to stop unknown vehicles from come this way.

"So how long is the trek from where we were to where ever my parents and their team." Marcus asked as they walked on one of the more used routes that took them to their destination.

"Well," Jerin said looking at him then ahead of them, "I'd say about a day or two, depending on if we run into any trouble along the way."

"You know if they have any defense systems laid out around here or not?"

"No, they don't, they took them out about a year ago. Too many near deaths, the damn things didn't know good from bad." She growled slightly.

"Good, because I think we have some company, look to the sky," Marcus said as he looked up and saw green/yellow VTOL heading right for them, he picked up his Bincos and zoomed in on it. And with out a doubt it had the U.S.S Albatross on the side of the battled scared ship. As it closed in it started to slow until it came to a stop and came to a hovering land twenty feet away. Must of tripped a sensor array that activated a camera tracking system that alerted the ship and its occupants to us, he thought, very clever, just like Bob told me how Dad and Mom set some traps up.

There was a soft hiss as the door opened it, five troops in very old, combat gear. Some two were in normal clothes, the guns they were holding were old, they were a Robinson Armaments XCR rifle with Trijicon ACOG telescope sight, a CZ 805 BREN A2 assault rifle with short barrel and red dot sight, a CR-21 with 40mm Vektor grenade launcher, a Pindad SS2-V4 assault / para-sniper rifle with Pindad-made 40mm grenade launcher, and a L86A1 - SA-80 Light Support Weapon with SUSAT optical sight. And they all had two pistols, all M1911s.

Marcus was very alert, but Jerin reassured him as they walked up to the group who greeted them the second they were close. That was when Marcus fully calmed down; they told him that they were going to take him and Jerin to the Albatross. Marcus was still shocked that he was going to meet and see his 'REAL' parents!

"Come on," Clyde said with a smile, "we need to get going, your parents are dying to see you." They started to climb into the vehicle when a large ball of electricity formed thirty feet to the right of the VTOL, It disappeared as fats as it showed up but left behind three people, Marcus knew that they had used teleported here, because his watch glitched for a split seconds, that only did that when an anomaly like when the dragons kept showing up happened. He already had an AK-74M with GP-30 40mm grenade launcher out and aimed at the unknown tri of people.

"Where in the hell are we now," one of the two men said looking around not seeing the VTOL because of the cloaking system they had turned on at the last second.

"No idea, but where every we are its better than being on that Centarion Space station, lets just hope we are stranded here." The girl said as looked around gun armed and ready. They were too shocked and disoriented to see Marcus behind them until he yelled.

"Freeze!"

They whipped around t face him, but didn't opened fire like he though they would. Their guns were aimed at him but lowered them when they heard the sound of others behind them. Marcus walked up to the trio as they lowered their guns.

Conway turned around and couldn't believe what he saw in front of him, some of the troops from the long lost Albatross war ship!

Marcus got a good look at the three; the man with the LSAT Machine gun in his hands was 5ft 9, yellow hair, and green eyes. The girl was 5ft 6, red hair, and brown eye. And the other guy, who seemed oddly familiar, was around 5 ft 8, orange dyed hair, and hazel colored eyes. When the trio saw Jerin they shot a hit, she dodge it and spat a small, less than lethal ball of electricity at them, it stung badly, making them drop their guns.

"What the fuck...a dragon..?" Conway groaned as he picked himself up from the ground and leaned down for his gun.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Marcus said as he pointed the gun at Conway's head, not even know that he had his gun pointed at his foster brother. Conway stopped.

"Wait a second...I know that voice," Conway said in an utterly shocked voice. He stood up and slowly turned to face Marcus, he couldn't believe it, he was looking face to face with his brother or he hoped, man how stupid he would feel if he was wrong. "Marcus, is-is that you?"

Marcus suddenly realized that this person was his brother! He instantly lowered his gun, "Conway, What the in the hell are you doing here!?"
