Unlikely pairing, part Two

Professor Kane was, as always, rambling by the blackboard, oblivious to the fact nobody was paying attention.

Two hundred-ish furs staring with drowsy eyes back at him, the old goat drove on, trying to explain a particularly difficult problem on the board.

"Now, if you apply the L'hospital's rule, the differential can be solved. Mr. Hunt, what would be the next step?"

For the tenth time today alone, Keith was awakened from class. Stifling an annoyed growl, the leopard got up.

"I would [Yawn] mm.......sorry professor. Anyhow, I would then replace e^x to find the Limit."

Quite a few glares came his way as Keith sat back down, his muzzle resting on his forearms, his crystal blue eyes gazing about the room. The usual mix of miscreants, he knew for a fact about 95% did not want to be here.

His gaze was stopped again, as he stared back at a pair of silver eyes. The eyes that captivated him every time... Owner of the said eyes of course, blinked a few times, trying to hide his growing blush, thinking the Leopard somehow knew he was thinking of him...Of course, after Jason's cheeks were noticeably red, the leopard resumed his daily sleep.

".......and........dismissed. Homework is due Monday."

Jason hurriedly shoved his Thesaurus-sized textbook into his bag, his notebook with neat rows of writing and laptop following suit. He stole another glance at the sleeping leopard, who happened to be wearing a black Army shirt with his unit's history all over it. Not that he understood what any of it meant, he still found the T-shirt irresistible on the feline.

He stared and stared, drinking in the fur-coated muscles, once again wondering how the snow leopard wore shorts and t shirts when everyone was triple-layered, but thankful of the fact nonetheless.

After everyone had left, the otter stood up, walking over to Keith's desk, which was devoid of anything academic, except for his laptop, on which he could see a page from Yiffstar was on, and timidly spoke.

"K..Keith? Keith, the class is o....over."

The leopard jumped up, immediately snapping to Parade rest before he smacked himself, and eased up.

"y..Yes Drill s....oh...... Sorry Jason hehe.... Did my trick help you today?"

Blinking a few times at the odd display, Jason nodded, his broad tail swishing slowly behind him.

"Yeah....Although Professor just confused me more... I think I'll use your method."

"well, that may work to learn, but remember on the test, you have to use his...the obnoxious old goat..Anyway, tonight at six?"

"That'd be great!"

"Where are you going for dinner?" Keith blurted out, thinking nothing of it.

"h...huh? Oh...uhm... I don't know yet..."

"Wanna come over to my dorm? Its' single room and I cook some nasty chili!" he flexed jokingly, his T shirt outlining his defined chest and abs.

"I...u..uhm....o....ok...why not..." Jason muttered, his gaze downward to hide his blush yet again.

'man, he is adorable with his constant blush...'

"Hey, is it just me or is your fur red around your muzzle?"

When the otter stuttered and fumbled for an answer, Keith just chuckled, patting his back a few times, and gently pushed him towards the door, his laptop grabbed by his long, fuzzy tail.

The two of them had small conversations on their walk back to the dorm, although it was mostly Keith who said anything, Jason contributing with a few words now and then.

Keith skillfully unlocked his door, giving a flourish, inviting the flustered otter inside with a bow.

"Here we are, mon Monsieur!"

Jason had to almost tiptoe inside the messy room, Monster cans, pizza boxes, and the like covering the entranceway, he noted how different it was from his own room.

"Sorry for the mess.. didn't exactly plan on inviting you, but I'm sure a cute otter such as yourself can manage!"

'c..cute? is he.....oh god... even his voice almost gets me hard...'

When the otter didn't reply, frozen in his thoughts, Keith put a paw on his shoulder, worried.

"Jason? Did I scare you, I'm sorry, it was a joke!"

it didn't help, of course, the otter just gave a jump, mumbling something before he retreated to the somewhat-cleaner area near Keith's computer desk.

'Good going you stupid cat... ugh....'

"so anyway....uhm..I'm sorry about that, and.......sit tight, I'll get the food going!"

About half hour of clanging, chopping veggies, boiling, and furtive, sneaky glances at the handsome otter later....

The two furs ate on the Futon, feline laughing and watching the TV intently, paw shoving spoonfuls of steaming chili into his muzzle while the otter ate slowly, still shy. He almost dropped the spoon when those mesmerizing eyes turned to look directly into his.

"So, what do you do for fun?"

"huh? Oh.. I sing with a band...and...nothing much, I guess."

"I like to game and fool around with computers. Oh, sometimes I write uh...yiff..."

Jason went beet red, not that the leopard noticed: he'd been red the whole time here.

"y...Yiff?"

"Yeah.. Male on Male, and ya know, I draw them sometimes but I need some practice."

Keith glanced over, grinning gently.

"y...you're....gay?"

Now it was the leopard's turn to look confused, "what do you mean? I thought the whole campus knew? Yeah, of course I am!"

"oh... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend....."

The rest of the meal passed in silence, both furs holding their spoons, giving furtive glances at one another, only to dart their eyes down as soon as the other caught on.

'Is that why he invited me...and those remarks....but...dad always said it was wrong....that it should be man and a woman...he IS very hot tho....no, no no! stop it!'

An audible gulp later, Jason stood up, trying to clear his head of naked leopards posing.

"I...I think I need to go..."

Keith nodded, his expression grim, and got up.

"of course. I.... if you need any help with anything, you have my number... I hope."

With that, the leopard looked away, in part to hide his tearing eyes, as much as to hide his growl.

2 AM, Keith was still standing right where he was when the otter left, by the door, spoon that he was holding long deformed into a mass of twisted metal. He didn't hear anything but the voices in his head, ignoring calls, knocks at his door... All the memories have been flooding back for hours, highschool years when he got found out, beat up...even raped once. The years he'd spent depressed,.. He looked at the insides of his left forearm, where the scars used to be...

A growl emanated from his throat...twin line of tears had formed while he stood there, held still by the shackles of the past...He considered getting on BF2142 again, but no. it would not appease him in the slightest. Instead, he yanked the door open, and slammed it shut, running down the stairs, his growl clearing a path all the way to the front door of the complex.

The leopard ran and ran, ran as he had his entire life, trying to get away from his memories, his dreams and the masks he wore. A few cars narrowly missed him, not that he gave a damn, still running towards...something, anything.

He ran all the way up a small mountain besides his college, tripped on a tree root, and landed heavily, covered in sweat. Keith just lay there, giving a sigh when his body caught up with him, and forced him asleep...

Hello to all readers.

I do apologize for how it turned out at the end.

Spending Christmas without much..uh, Holiday cheer has done thus to me.

However, I do promise a good plot is in progress!.

Thank you again for reading my poor attempt at literature.
