I Wrote this story with my friend Leo_Todrious

Zen walked out of the back door of the theater after finishing his Japanese style performance that night. Zen was an avarege looking boy of 18. He had black hair of medium length that at time covered his right ere depending on how he felt that day, was 5' 10" had a swimmer bould as that was one of his favourite things to do when he wasnt practicing for another performance.

He wasnt wearing normal clothes that night. He was wearing a pink yukata. He didnt want to change after his performance so he kept his clothes in his backback and he thought hed just go to sleep naked when he got back home that is if his big brother Zed wasnt around. Zen didnt like his older brother verymuch he was 7 years older than Zen and had never gone to one of his performances and never

helped him when he actually needed his help doing things he didnt know what to do. Zen sighed and he held a bouguet of blue roses someone had given him that night and he said as he waled down the dark street "Blue roses represent miracles, i sure hope these bring miracles into my life, thats what i need to make my brother even think about loaning 5 dollars." a small chukle came from him as he

found that slightly funny and he kept walking down the street and passed a dark alley. Without him noticing a man rose from the shadows and pointed a gun at Zens head as he kept walking toward his house which was only 2 blocks from where he was now.

Yellow eyes gazed down into the alleyway as Zen walked, watching him as they always did. Zed was crouched on the roofline, panting softly, feeling his blood boil with his heritage. He had been different for a very long time. He had short black hair arrayed into spikes, but tonight those hair spikes were accompanied by horns. His fingernails stretched out in black claws, his shoes had burst as his feet ended in talons. He was something new and he never could let Zen know... but Zed sensed something had changed, an enemy... A gun. Zed pounced from the rooftop. Zen had not even heard the criminal when the mass of muscle and denim hit the attacker, the gun sliding across the alley.

Zed looked at the villain he pressed to the brick wall, inhaling the air slowly. The scent was not mortal, was not normal... This wasn't some thug, it was another assassin sent on dark purpose. Zed snarled, baring his fangs before his claws reached up and then slashed down. Hot blood splattered across Zed, soaking into his shirt and pants, splashing on his skin. He laid waste to the attacker, ripping the clothes to shreds as he obliterated the flesh. Zen had an unobstructed view of the gruesome murder, the hot blood pooling into the grooves of the street.

Zen thought he heard something so he turned around. He saw the monster and and gruesome scene that unfolded. He was scared and for a moment he had a tiny blush of red as the monster was slightly cute. Nether the less he was scared and dropped his roses and backpack and started running for his house since it wasnt to far away. His running was astoundingly fast even though he was wearing such a constricting outfit that night. Not having an older brother around to protect him from bullies had given him legs of steel and that helped when he had to run or swim a lot. He ran the 2 blocks and came to the front porch of his house. He banged on the door since Zed had never given Zen a key to the house and his parents died when he was 8 under mysterious circumstances.

There was no sign of Zed. The house was dark, locked up...But Zed's car was there. It was incredibly odd. He never went anywhere without his car... The night air was crisp and chill, a terrible night to be trapped outside.

Zen tried turning the door knob to see if it would budge but it was all in vain. He did find it odd that the house was empty but Zed's car was still there "Of all the terrible things you have done to me this is by far the worst!" he yelled to see if Zed was around. He then sighed and walked to the back of the house and try that door but it was looked too. He was starting to feel cold and he went back to the front porch and sat in the swing waiting to see if his brother came back and he said to himself. "Why does he always ruin everything for me, i work my butt off to try and get money for college and all he does is sit around on his ass watching TV acting as if I never existed. I wish i had died with mom and dad at least i would be happy in heaven with them now and Zed would be a hobo with some weird STD instead of my eternal tormentor."

There was silence for a long moment, no response from the house. The street was cold, the sky dark. There had to be clouds, no stars were shining. Only the lone street lamps. No stray animals, they had all found shelter. After almost a half an hour had passed Zen saw the familiar form of Zed emerging from the shadows, heading toward the house. He had no doubt ben at some bar or something, but it looked as though he was carrying something. Zen couldn't tell at first, but as Zed walked it was easier to see. In one hand a backpack swung back and forth. In the other hand was a battered bouquet of blue flowers. Zed looked up at Zen, trying to decide what to say.

Zen was in shock as he saw what his brother had in his hands but he just looked away. He tried denying the existence of his brother just as Zed had done to him all these years. Zen just sat on the swing trying to pay no attention to his brother maybe it was time for Zed to get what he had been dishing out for all these years.

Zed moved up the steps, glancing to Zen ignoring him. Zed let out a sigh. He had been foolish to think it would work, but how could he ever make up for the terrible childhood Zen had? Zed had been too guilty to even look at his brother. He unlocked the door and eased it open, moving in. Zed set the backpack down on the couch and the flowers on the dining room table. Usually he was a stickler for the heating bill but he had left the door open, not shutting Zen out after being locked out.

Zen just sat out there not caring that the door was open. He was thinking what he would do next if he should go inside or if he would stay out there. Zen got up and walked out of the house and to the woods behind it. Knowing his brother he wouldnt care if Zen was eaten by wolves or bears out there that would probably make him happy. But Zen kept walking careful not to get his yukata dirty and came to a clearing in the middle of the forest. It had hot springs there for some reason and Zen loved that he found this place years ago. He felt safe there for some reason. Zen took off his yukata and put it on a nearby rock. He was completely naked out there and he liked it. He walked into the hot spring and sat in it. He closed his eyes not realizing how tired he was and how good the water felt all nice and warm. He started drifting off into sleep as several noises could be heard coming from the surrounding forest.

Zed had worked to clean up the house as he always did, trying to provide Zen with at least basic accomodations. Years of feeling the shame of killing his own 'parents' for the sake of saving his brother, only to be unable to look his brother in the eye. Zen hated him, he had every right to. Zen slowly looked up, feeling an ache... A familiar ache. He groaned, his fingernails stretching into claws again. He looked around quickly, trying to spot Zen. He was gone. Zed inhaled deeply, finding Zen's scent before darting out of the back door. He moved into the woods, jumping over rocks and beneath branches, heading to the hot spring.

Zen had fallen asleep inside the hot spring, and that wasnt good at all

All around him dark shadows took form and rose from the ground and stood around the hot spring but something seemed off. They could not get into the clearing as if something was preventing them from coming in. Maybe there was something about the hotspring that didnt let demons in there maybe it was something about Zen and the spring maybe someone else knew what was going on here

Zed moved toward the beast, his arm grazing the barrier. It seemed as if the arm lost muscle tone as it passed through. Zed winced before he charged, battling with the beast. Horns erupted from his head, claws growing longer, bare feet becoming talonous once more.

The giant mass of shadows kept trying to break the barrier trying to get Zen but the barrier kept fighting back too. Something was protecting Zen from all he didnt want in his life including his older brother. Zen moved a little while in his sleep he just kept thinking about his brother and how mean he had been to him all these years this making the barrier even stronger for some reason.

Zed yelped out in pain as a claw pierced into his abdomen, dark blood leaking out. He returned the barb, driving his sword into the heard of the huge beast, turning it. The flame began spreading, trying to break the beast apart from the inside.

The huge monster screamed as it desintegrated and Zen awoke from his sleep. Zen looked around and saw the monster outside and hid in fear and meekly asked "Who's out there?" he tried hiding the best he could but he was really afraid he didnt know what to do if he were to die now. He wanted to die but not like this he never pictured it to be like this he kept thinking as he started crying.

The monster was gone, Zen was safe once more. A smile crossed Zed's lips before he fell to his knees, and then onto his stomach. The blood continued to leak from his abdomen.

Zen did here anyone respond and looked out and saw the human figure on the floor he got out of the water and ran to the figure. It looked like his brother but not really. He didnt care this thing was hurt and needed help. For some reasong he felt like the spring could help and he pick the figure up and took it to the spring and placed it in there. The spring began heaving the creatures wounds and

healing them. But Zen didnt notice he was cleaning his hands and puting his yukata on so he wasnt naked anymore.

The wound seemed to close up, Zed rested in the water, his limbs floating gently in the warm embrace. It had ben some time since he was there, countless years.

Zen sat on a rock and looked up at the sky and asked "Who are you"

"I..." Zed hesitated, looking over at Zen. Had he not recognized him? "Someone... who is worried." Zed said.

Zen kept looking at the sky "worried about what?" he said " Most certainly not me. No one ever cares about me. All those ppl that go to my performances just people that have nothing to do but watch other peoples dreams come true. Even if the dreams make them happy you can never be truely happy with yourself if no one in the world cares about you" he said not realizing he was having a conversation with his brother after all those years of silence.

"What if... Someone was always watching... Watching you, not the performance... Making sure that... you weren't harmed as often, keeping people from getting to you that wanted to hurt you?" Zed murmured.

"As if!" Zen responded snappishly. "The only person i have left is my brother and he shure doesnt care about me. For all i know he could be raping sone whore in my bedroom right now. No one in this entire planet cares about my existance." Zen reched into the pocket of his yukata and took out a knife. "And no one will care if i disappeared tonight"

"I will... I can't live without you, and I couldn't let them hurt you..." Zed said, moving to climb out of the hot spring.

"Who are you to say that, I just met you and i dont even care anymore. My brother ruined my life, after my parents died he changed. He stoped doing things with me he even stoped talking to me. 10 long years he hasnt said a word to me i dont even know what his voice sounds like anymore" Zen said as he started crying. "I used to love and admire him but now hes long gone hes nothing to me now"

"I was too ashamed to say anything to you... I..." Zed hesitated, looking to where Zen was. It was as if his heart stopped in his chest, waiting for what Zen would do when he found out.

"As if" Zen responded again not recognizing the voice of his brother it indeed was a long time ago. "Even so why would anyone be ashamed to say anything to me i havent done anything wrong"

"I couldn't save our parents... for you. I wanted them to be there, but..." Zed trailed off. The pretense wasn't going to get him very far, he had to come clean... At least partially. He'd hurt Zen ten years ago and he'd kept on jurting him, worse than if he'd swallowed his guilt.

Zen's eyes widdened as he heard the word our. "Big bro.................. why did you do it..... why did you kill our parents.....what did they do to you that they deserved to die." Zen said burying his face into his knees sobbing.

They were going to kill you..." Zed murmured softly, "They had it all planned out... I couldn't... I couldn't let them, it was too late to get you away to safety."

Zen cryed even harder into his knees hearing this "why would they kill me. was my existance that horrible to them am I that unfit to exist in this world" he said as h dropped the knife on the floor

"They were evil... They were crazy... But they knew that you would have the power one day to do anything." Zed said softly. He grabbed the knife and tossed it, climbing up out of the pool, draping his arms around Zen. He pulled him close.

Zen kept looking down. "Im not special at all im just a lame teen that cant do anything right."

"You're not lame... Your singing was amazing." Zed murmured softly.

"How could you know you never go to my auditions or anything. Your just saying that to make me feel better. i mean look at you your hot and you got all the powers I got nothing" He said extremely depressed

Last time you sang for rehearsal the spotlight operator took twenty two minutes to get the element replaced..." Zed said gently.

Zen was shocked at the accuracry of those words and said "You really do care bout me dont you big bro" as he touched his brothers hands with his for the first time in 10 years.

Zed shivered gently, afraid of Zen rejecting him. Zed turned his hands over, squeezing Zen's.

"I......Im sorry big bro........ I shouldnt have treated you like that... you were only trying to protect me and that is all I ever wanted from you"

"Are you kidding? I... was ashamed and didn't give you the love you deserved. I took away your parents, I took away your brother in a way... I'm so sorry." Zed murmured.

"I forgive you big bro. You know its never too late to start all over again."

"You mean it? Really?" Zed asheked, shocked by how easy Zen had turned around... But maybe he was tired of being alone.

"I dont have anyone else left in the world. I wanted to end it all because no guy ever wants to date me. They think im just a creep with an even creepier brother"

"I... Well, if it'll help I can try to be less creepy." Zed said, hoping he could start making up for all the terrible years he put his brother through.

"Thats a start" Zen said laughing a bit as he held his brothers hands tight
