It's the end of the world and everyone is invited!

Cramming so many magical artifacts and examples of alien tech into a small geographic area never goes well. When you're a relatively magically dead backwater world without any native interstellar technologies, you're just asking for trouble with your dimensional boundaries.

Unfortunately, this happens often enough for something to be put in place that can plug up the cracks in Earth's dimensional barriers. Fortunately, the System is automated and will slip into place moments after a collection of artifacts manage to crack open the protective skin keeping a bunch of rather unpleasant things out. Unfortunately, the System can't actually prevent those unpleasant things from creeping in, but it CAN throttle the rate and direct them to areas saturated with byproducts from those artifacts that might have the potential to deal with them.

On the bright side Oversector 0000000 is in good hands/paws/coils/maws with the appointment of a very experienced System Manager, Ophidian Overlord Orochi. Though it seems that somebody somehow managed to accidentally speedrun set up and character creation, which means instead of having hours or days to get prepped, Sector 0000000 is firing off after all of five minutes.

It's a good thing Orochi has four other heads and an old friend to help grant a sense of stability.

Ha ha ha. Nope. That is the exact opposite of what's happening.
