Commission for Carmine

Carmine enjoyed sleeping in on the weekends. That wasn't so common for him lately - for some reason, there was always some sort of fracas going on outside his apartment on the weekend. Maybe it'd be an explosion from an attempted robbery of the bank down the street, or some supervillain getting blown through the apartment just above his, or a city-wide alert siren due to some aliens from some bum-fuck far-off planet invading...

Usually this interruption would only happen once or twice a year, but now it was like his block was the agreed battlefield for every single super-powered hero and villain in the entire world.

He never could sleep past 10 because of that.

Eventually, he hoped, he would just be able to sleep through the next massive explosion or two, and get the lazy weekend he craved.

Today was not one of those days.

The huge red-furred dragon was roused by the sound of his living room wall getting blown in, and something impacting the wall on the other end.

"Wonderful," he groaned, not looking forward to finding out the damage; he'd probably have to stay in a hotel or something while the place got repaired, assuming his insurance would pay for it. It took him a while to pry his eyes open and drag himself out of bed; trying to pretend as if the damage wouldn't be real until he saw it first hand.

As soon as he left the bedroom, he started coughing. Disintegrated brick and atomised plasterboard was filling the room with a thick white dust that seemed to be intent on coating the inside of his throat. He waved a massive paw in front of his face, trying to waft away as much as he could, but the coughs continued for a while until he got a little more used to it. He should have grabbed a face mask from his room...

The slightly smouldering drag marks along the floor lead towards the other wall, where, sure enough, someone laid in a heap. Their impact against the wall had made a mini-crater, and the only hint that they were still breathing was a low groaning sound.

Carmine didn't recognize them, either, though their outfit screamed "superhero". At least it wasn't someone who was likely to take him hostage.

The suit was bright orange and shiny, with crimson gloves and boots, as well as a red diamond emblazoned between the collar-bones. It was capped off with a tight balaclava-like headpiece, orange with red circles around each eye.

"You okay?" Carmine said, his voice hoarse from the dry crap caking his throat.

"Nnnhngh." from the hint of brown snout that was pointing through, they looked to be a feline of some sort. They were quite small and sprightly, though the suit was... form-fitting to say the least. "Nnyeah, Just a s...sec... -no, I'll be fine, I just-nngh!"

The cat suddenly clutched his stomach and groaned.

"...Well, that's good," he said a moment later.

"Who're you talking to...?" Carmine said. Had he been concussed so badly that he'd invented an imaginary friend on the spot?

"Sorry, one sec," the cat said, holding up a finger towards the dragon. "Yeah... you sure? ...Cool. All right, I'll see you later, I guess...?"

"Okay, seriously, what the hell is going on?!"

"Wait, I...nnhn..."

The cat's eyes, opaque white, turned green for a moment. Two whirlpools of colour floated through his eyes as the head-piece of the suit pulled back. A mop of brown hair spilled out from underneath, as the suit simply unpeeled itself from around the woozy cat. His eyes slipped closed and he slumped back into his crater, falling into what looked to be a deep sleep.

The suit, however, was still moving, melting, and unpeeling itself from the cat's body before congealing into a formless, swirling mass of orange and red.

It didn't have eyes, but it was almost definitely looking at Carmine.

He glanced towards the doorway out of his apartment. Whatever this thing was, he did not want it anywhere near him...

Just before he started to run, the strange blob of jelly vibrated, and a little voice appeared in his head.

Wait!

It was soft, a little high-pitched, like a young man whose voice was still breaking in his adulthood. It did stop Carmine in his tracks as he glanced around for the source. When his attention returned to the jelly, it wobbled again.

Yes... yes, it's me. Hello! Sorry to be a pain, but... I need to borrow your body. My last host needs a bit of a breather, as you can see, so I need to make do with whatever I can.

"Me?" Carmine pointed at himself. "No way, I'm not going out there.

But... why not? You're a big guy! I'm sure you've thought about fighting crime once or twice in your life, being a hero, being the centre of attention...

"Not really! I'd rather just sleep in!"

Hmmh... yeah, that makes sense. You are a bit paunchier. It might take a bit of work to put some muscle on there... but you'll work just fine.

The jelly began to slither towards Carmine, getting between him and the door.

Come on, time's of the essence here! They'll get away if I don't get back out there! And I don't want to have to force you...

"But what if I get hurt?! I'll sue..." then again, how was he supposed to sue this... thing? "Never mind."

You won't feel a thing, I promise. I'm designed to shield the wearer from all injury. Celsius over there would have had some serious organ damage if he wasn't wearing me! And you're much bigger than him.

"That... makes sense, but still!"

Listen, I really would love to explain all the ins and outs, but...

The blob of goo suddenly lunged at Carmine. He shrieked and dove out of the way. It just barely grazed against his foot, and he felt a strange, warm slimy sensation around it, like dipping his foot into gelatin that hadn't quite set yet.

He scrambled back to his feet, looking down at his still sluggish foot - his toes were now coated in a bright red, shiny texture. He looked for the door and tried to run, but that goo-covered foot planted into the ground.

"Agh!" Carmine grabbed at his ankle. It wasn't spreading, but... it was connected to the rest of the blob as it slid towards him.

This'll be quick, I swear. I'll do all the work for you, you can just go along for the ride!

Carmine braced himself against a wall and tried to use his other foot to scrape the slime off his arm as it coagulated and formed into a thick boot. It was a perfect fit, with a soft springy in-sole. It felt right...

"Wait, wait-!"

The blob touched his other foot, and from there, it shot up his body like a sped-up tsunami. It wound upwards and curled around him, instantly hugging as tightly as it could to his midsection...

All right, I didn't want to have to do this, but we really don't have time!

The headpiece emerged, coming from behind him, and hung just in front of his face. The two eye-holes inside were completely opaque - he couldn't see anything past them, aside from two... pulsing spirals of green. Endless whirlpools that made his vision start to swim and his head start to tingle.

Just look into my eyes. They'll soon be your eyes too. Give in, please... you can already feel how good it is to stare, and that's with you resisting my power. Once you stop resisting, once you let me in... you'll feel even better, I promise!

Carmine groaned, his brow furrowing and his mouth falling open. He sort of scowled at the spirals, trying to pull his head from one side to the other, to yank his gaze away from the spirals.

As for the rest of his body, he'd lost control of it already. He was moving away from the wall, tromping towards the middle of the room, the gloves squeaking as his hands clenched into fists. The being was already trying his body on for size... but as it did so, he could also feel his muscles expanding. He'd tried working out a few times, but the morning-after ache always dissuaded him from going further. This feeling, though... It had a similar texture to that ache, but pleasurable, sort of exciting. He could feel the paunch of his stomach tightening, shrink-wrapping inwards to make something far firmer, more impenetrable.

His left arm lifted and curled towards his face, flexing and making his new muscles bulge outwards.

"Hhh?" Carmine was trying to keep his eyes off the spirals, but that sight, seeing just how pumped up he was... it was exhilarating.

Cool, right? All of the rewards of working out but none of the downsides. You'll be indestructible while you wear me, I promise. And you're going to find out first-hand what being a hero feels like. Haven't you ever wanted to be something more...? Now's your chance. Just look into my eyes, let my sight become your sight.

"Ungh..." Carmine groaned, his eyelids starting to droop, the greens flowing through his eyes in translucent ripples. "Y...yeah... maybe..."

Everything about this body feels amazing, doesn't it? Especially... down there, huh? Do you mind if I touch you?

It was strange... the bulge between his legs had gone totally unnoticed until that moment. It felt round, soft, and very sensitive. Form fitting and tightly packed like everything else. And when his gloved hand gripped and fondled it gently, he let out a low, delirious groan.

_There we go. Wearing me is pure pleasure. Being a hero is pure pleasure. Don't resist this chance. To do good. To feel good. _

"Do... good," Carmine repeated, savouring the mantra like a piece of chocolate. "Feel... good..."

All you need to do, to do good and feel good... is put me on your head. I'll let you do the honours. Just pull me over your face...

"Yes..." he was sort of in control of his arms, but he could feel the suit guiding his hands. His right hand was still occupied with gently fondling and pleasuring the round mound between his legs.

He liked being guided. It felt right to just let his left arm do the work, pulling the head-piece down into place with a satisfying squeeze and snap.

As soon as that happened, another flood of endorphins shot through him, and with it... adrenaline. His body was no longer his own in that instant, and it stretched with a comfortable groan like it had just gotten on a tight pair of trousers.

"There we go!" Carmine said - though it was more the suit saying it than him. The big dragon was more than happy to take a backseat, to be a first-person spectator. "Thanks again for the body, friend! Now, let's get to work..."

Photovolt broke into a sprint and leapt out of the open hole, his suit gleaming as the sunlight hit his body. The solar power made him gleam like a beacon, pure sunlight flowing like blood through arteries, visible just under his suit.

Down below, he could see his target - the purple-robed rat who fancied himself as a world-ending warlock was cackling, enrobed in dark energy. The temperature felt significantly colder, and he could see that dark magical tendrils were starting to form behind his back. He was monologuing to no one in particular, and Photovolt couldn't quite hear it at first as he came screaming down towards thim.

"...and when that is done, all reality will bow to me! Hahahahah-OHGOD!"

Photovolt had plenty of momentum, and the element of surprise. He grabbed the warlock by the face, and in an instant the spell vanished. Naturally, Photovolt couldn't exactly go to a stop, continuing straight down into a crater-making slam into the street below.

Carmine felt like he was on a rollercoaster - somewhat scared, but also excited. The mind-control from the suit was helping things.

"Ph...Photovolt!" the rat croaked, trying to scrabble for his amulet before a bright red glove yanked it off his robes. "This is...impossible!"

"Not particularly," Photovolt said with a grin. "I'm just borrowing this suit for a bit... you ruined my apartment, and you're gonna have to pay up for that! How much do you think this thing is gonna get at a pawn shop?"

"Ngh... the Medallion of Zhul'Gorath is priceless!"

"Awesome. Thanks for that." Photovolt slipped it into his glove for safe-keeping, and the rat warlock whimpered with watery eyes. "Now, where am I supposed to take you now... maybe we can find some old ladies to help across the street while we're at it. Gotta get used to being a hero, right?"

Carmine would have giggled if he could. The suit was pretending to be him; it was a pretty good actor. Obviously, the suit knew where he was supposed to go, but seemed intent on leading this rat on a wild goose chase.

Only one minute in, and Carmine was having a blast... maybe he was cut out for a life of superheroics after all!
