The impressive silver shine passes over the flowering fields of the insect kingdoms. The bug people who have lived there all their lives had never seen a spectacle like the magnificent being. In the great combed halls, the many soldiers that protect the interior buzz outside to meet this glorious herald.

As the dragon descends among them, landing upon the enormous tree branch, she shifts and shrinks, landing gracefully with a shortened, anthropoid form.

She lifts her regal head, draping her wings over her strong yet curvacious body, tilting her chin upwards, and speaking with great import upon her voice.

"I am Katadanyatarinya, and I come here to aid and protect your lands. A great evil is approaching, and I seek to crush it by my righteous fist." She sweeps her arm out from under her wing cloak and squeezes, completing the gesture.

Trepedatious buzzing fills the air as soldier after soldier looks toward their companions. They soon part ways, leaving only a single, taller soldier standing in the dragon's way. This soldier grips a white spear and stands tall, her compound eyes matching the dragon's. Through Katadanyatarinya's magical might, she can understand the taunt.

"We can protect ourselves, outsider. There is nothing that you can provide for us."

Katadanyatarina smirks. "Oh, you poor, short-lived children," she says. "You can always benefit from the patronage of a dragon."

The soldier grabs her pole and readies it, her wings flittering, ready to take off. "Then, prove you are strong enough to protect us."

Spreading her wings out, Katadanyatarina snorts and nods. "So be it!"

The soldier lifts up into the air, spinning her pole above her head and swooping toward the dragon.

Katadanyatarina pushes off the branch with a great thrust of her wings, lifting up as the soldier lands, stabbing at the ground with her pole.

The dragon swoops down, swiping at the bee, but the soldier lifts her weapon up to block the attack.

The waxy substance that makes up the pole shatters, leaving the soldier wielding two broken weapons. She leaps up and swings one at the dragon's head, but the dragon grabs it. Then, she lifts her leg and kicks the dragon in the side.

Katadanyatarina hisses, but she flaps her wings harder, lifting the two high up into the air.

The soldier's other hand flies down, seeking to strike the dragon on the head.

The dragon grows larger, returning to her full-blown majesty. One claw, able to hold onto the bee's arm, now let's go, and swipes to grab her entire body. The bee swoops and buzzes about the dragon, flying around her face, dodging and weaving as they fly around the great tree.

Katadanyatarina roars and grumbles as the annoying insect appears and disappears from her vision, landing on her face and the back of her head, and even on her neck.

The soldier hums brightly from the twitches and jerks from the more enormous creature, driving the monster further from the colony as she does.

But just as the bee becomes complacent, the dragon spins around with a speed that her large form should not be able to produce, her tail whipping around and striking the bee, sending her zooming down to the forest floor.

The wind whips past the crashing soldier, who cannot get control of her descent. She prepares herself ot fall in defense of her kingdom when a silver blur speeds past her, and strong, scaled arms wrap around her.

Katadanyatarina swoops up and flies back toward the colony, where she drops the soldier off, standing over her, folding her arms over her chest.

"I sincerely hope that is enough to prove I can defend with the best of them. Now, are you willing to accept my protection?"

The soldier, lying on the ground, pushes herself up, rubbing her head. She twitches and buzzes over towards the others, who relay her message to the rest of the colony.

"Very well," she says to the dragon. "We're willing to listen to you, but this threat of yours better be dire."

The dragon sighs, folding her wings back over her shoulders. "Yes, that's exactly what I'm here to find out. Let me speak to your leaders, and we can find out what troubles are befalling your kingdom."

Off on another tree sits a brightly-colored gal, long and chubby. She snaps a leaf off of the tree and munches on it, rubbing her swollen belly as she does. "Mmm... what a sight, what a sight," she says, slurping down the leaf while grabbing another one. "I'd better let everyone know there's a big scary monster snooping around. Don't want her hurting my babies."

She giggles and inches herself down the branch, careful not to harm her precious cargo, for their mother would be most displeased if anything were to happen to them.
