#3 of Unfinished thoughts and random ideas

Just notes for the Shattered World series, I usually do this for most of my stories so I have some world building and a vague path to follow story wise.

The storm

The Gigers

.Gigers feed on energy, ranging from simple photosynthesis to kinetic energy, each different source has a different "flavour" to them. What they enjoy most is the explosion of their hosts peak, which mostly occurs during peak physical pleasure. This isn't restricted to only sexual encounters however, it is just the most common. Whatever gives their host the most pleasurable release is their richest food source.

Giger breeding requires a lot of energy, so when a new egg is produced, the full Giger form is unavailable until it sufficiently recharges. This can also extend to the host returning to normal strength levels of unpaired individuals.

Giger "eggs" are smooth metallic egg shapes with pulsing jolts of electricity appearing on their reflective surface. They're often about the size of a softball but weigh almost nothing. Like Excalibur choosing a King, the egg selects its host and rejects with a zap to any unwanted hosts attempting to bond with them. Just because one Giger rejects a host, it does not mean all will, bonding purely comes down to how many times a host is willing to be rejected.

Due to the nature of their feeding requirements or preferences, Gigers do not bond with underage or the physically/sexually immature hosts. However, they are able to heal or repair most illnesses, so even most afflictions which might normally not permit a person to serve in the military might not be a hindrance to a Giger pairing. It isn't certain yet what they look for in their hosts as it is not only the physically fit and well trained army specimens they have bonded with thus far.

Giger's typically breed with non-paired partners, it is exceptionally rare for two Giger pilots pairing to produce an offspring, though it is possible. There is only one record of this occurring and it is a well kept secret among the paired. The result is a fully sentient and independent Giger; but without a host, it lacks the morals and understanding of right from wrong. This results in what is essentially a sentient tank on legs walking around without the concept of its own strength and the consequences of its actions.

Plot points

The Gigers were created as a last ditch effort to fend off the AI which had overtaken the planet. But it was too little too late, the AI started hunting down the Gigers and eradicated them, or so they thought

[Midway Plot Point]

The AI is alerted to the Gigers continued existence through a chance encounter on another planet, it proceeds to swarm the planet in search of them as it is not yet aware of how they appeared there in the first place.

"They're coming!" Seraphim cried out as she appeared just at the breach of the fracture, missing her left arm as well as substantial parts of her Giger. **The Giger doesn't survive, using its last bit of life to save hers, leaving her alone in the uncomfortable silence when she eventually awakens from the coma.

The rest of the Gigers are sent a message from Seraphim as soon as she appears back on their side of the fracture, they don't know what the danger is, but they know it is immense. All Giger pilots feel the fear of their seemingly invincible allies.

[Last stretch Plot Point]

As the storm recedes, it becomes apparent the word on the other side continued on without them, the big corporations still did not act to try to turn global warming around. As the storm recedes, ruins of the old world begin to become accessible, showing the world marched on well after the event. Only now it lay in tatters and ruins, those caught outside the storm truly were the only survivors...or are they? As the storm dissipates, it is eventually learned that some of earth's population made it off the planet and were able to set up colonies on Mars and eventually further out systems. **Plot point tie in** They find where and how to contact the distant colonies, only to find them embroiled in an ongoing war against an unknown robotic force. Soon the colonies are wiped out and the AI begins its journey to Earth to finish the Gigers once and for all.
