The Impenetrable Wall

Story by Dunthyon on SoFurry

Asia was never meant to be explored after the Third World War had happened. So the PeaceKeepers, or Anthros made to ensure safety, erected a wall to keep out any enemies, graverobbers, or explorers. There HAD to be a way to get past the Wall, or else the journey would have to end, and Dunthyon would either be killed, contained, or would kill every Anthro on the planet. Dunthyon looked around on the surface of the wall. Not even a small brick chip to indicate faulty building. "Those PeaceKeepers did a damned good job Kat." Dunthyon had joked. Dunthyon had a couple options. One: Scale the wall. Two: Destroy the wall. Two options that are most unlikely to work. To Dunthyons surprise, a sign was on the wall about a mile away from his current position. He and Kat both ran to the sign, hoping it would have an answer. To their dissappointment, all that the sign read was: "??????????." which translated to " Nothing is what it seems". Dunthyon had to ponder this.

"I think I know what this means!" Exclaimed Kat. "There must be a hidden doorway, or some kind of secret passage!" Dunthyon and Kat both combed the beach, and Kat went underwater to check for any pipelines or holes. Neither of them found anything. Dunthyon was about to lean back in dissappointment, but instead, he just fell flat on his back. An illusion was created in the wall that, Dunthyon assumed, only Ancients knew. They had gotten past the wall and looked onto an open field with only a few trees and shrubs. Barren of any Mammals.

"This looks too easy..." Dunthyon had said in a suspicious tone. Dunthyon remembered a special program that was included in his OS. It was an examining device. He wondered why he didn't just use it to find the hole in the wall. "Stupid, stupid stupid!" Dunthyon said in regret. The examining device found nothing but a small anthill. Kat and Dunthyon continued their journey through the field. Suddenly, Dunthyon tripped on a large rock.

Dunthyon remembered his first fracture of his leg. The real one, though, not the prosthetic. He had been operational for 12 years, and was swiftly riding his bike down a steep hill. A crack in the sidewalk of the base of the hill had caused the bike to flip him off, and cause him to crack the metal in his 'bone'. Though he couln't feel pain, the sight of his leg twisted and mangled in such a way was sickening to him. His creator, Iago Steele, had come to repair him. His Creator was short and lean, and a very bright man. He simply welded the leg metal together and let Dunthyon free. There was no Creator to fix him this time.

Dunthyon would have to deal with it. The leg was twisted in a fashion that made it nearly impossible to walk any distance. Kat took her survival knife, and cut off a large strip of fabric from her shirt. She wrapped the fabric around the fracture, and asked him if he could walk on the leg. Dunthyon replied yes, and continued the long journey. Still not an animal, or Anthro, in sight. About three miles away, a small shed stood between two trees. Dunthyon and Kat went to approach the Shed, and hoped to find weapons, and medical supplies.

Once inside, Dunthyon flipped the switch for the lights to ON, and gazed at the surplus of food, weapons, MREs, medical kits, and clothes. He opened the small hatch to his storage container in his stomach, and stuffed as much of the supplies he could into the compartment. Kat noticed what he was doing and was beginning to be suspicious of him. Robotic Anthros were frowned upon in the New World. If Kat found out about him being one, she may abandon him and leave him for dead while she made her way peacefully back to New New Jersey. He quickly, but quietly, closed the hatch and locked it before she made her way over to him. "What were you doing?" She had asked. "Erm...I was grabbing a few things before we left." Dunthyon replied. "And where did you put them?" Kat seemed even more suspicious now. Dunthyon had to reveal himself. She'd leave him either way. "Well, i put them all in a storage hatch in my stomach." Kat didn't seem to be as shocked as he thought she would be. She was actually relieved! "Why do you not seem surprised Kat?" Dunthyon asked. "Well, it's because if we ever got into a situation with a wild animal, you wouldn't be injured as much as I would, so i could use you as a shield, or weapon." Dunthyon didn't like the sound of this, but she was right. They continued walking...(Continued December, 20, 2010)
