A furry world - Part 8 The Humans Are Coming
"Wha... what do you want?" I said sleepily batting at the hand shaking me awake.
"The facility commander wants to see you" said the familiar voice of Stripes.
"Ok ok just give me a minute" I said getting up carefully trying not to wake Laika and Candy. We walked to the commander's office and only stopping along the way to get coffee because I kept insisting that I need that morning cup.
I nearly spilled my coffee over me when I saw the four other bleary eyed chakats when we entered the commander's office.
"Ah the last two are here now we can begin" said the man behind the desk. His dark skin showing he was of African descent and his hair cut into a no nonsense buzz cut and wearing a standard American military outfit.
"I asked Miss Striptail to call you here because we need some help for today" he said in the voice usually used for long classroom lectures.
"As you already know today we are allowing humans into the festival so we need some extra help at the gates and your emphatic skills will help us a lot".
Nearly chocking on my coffee I said "what do you mean your letting humans into the festival?"
"Just like I said we are letting people come in today did you read the pamphlet you where handed at the entrance when you got here? Miss?" he said in a slightly agitated tone.
"Lupus and I did read through the Saturday part" I said my ears and tail drooping.
"As I was saying we need your help" he continued "Miss Stripetail has indicated that you five have the best emphatic skills in the facility so you five along with hir and Miss Brightstep will be doing checks at the gate" he said
"You will work in groups of two each doing a two hour shift. If you sense that someone intends to do harm to the people here alert Miss Brightstep shi will check if your "reading" is valid and inform a guard" he said talking to us like we were cadets "I will leave it up to you to decide who will work with who and when".
"You may leave" he said and started to do some paperwork.
We all left the office and Stripes lead us to the cafeteria.
"Ok who will work with who?" shi asked. I quickly paired myself with hir and the other four grouped together. After a bit of deliberation we ended up being on the second watch so we could grab some breakfast and tell I could tell Laika what happened.
I insisted we go to Rozz and Nassak again since they said they would be open real early on the way there I asked Stripes am important question.
"Stripes will the facility grounds still be a furzone" I asked thinking about those uncomfortable pants.
"Yes it will" Shi said laughing "unless the people coming read as much as you do the will know that for today we have the right to walk as we want to but I think wearing a halter might still be a good idea"
"Hey I love to read I just don't like to jump ahead" I said the insides of my ears turning red.
We reached Nassak and Rozz's stand, the delicious smell of omelets drifted from it and our stomachs growled in approval. Rozz and Nassak once again openly displayed their love for each other and Stripes and I had to block their emotions or we would have to walk back to Stripes' room with erections. After buying omelets for ourselves and everybody else we headed back to the room when we walked by a group of humans and I felt my blush returning as they stared at us and I found myself wishing I had put on halter before we left. Stripes on the other hand walked proudly which made hir impressive bust standout even more.
I guessed they smelled the food because by the time we closed the door Laika and Candy were both upright and wide awake. As we ate Stripes explained what was going on and they all had a laugh about the reading comment. Candy was understandably worried so we decided to ask Brightstep if we could let hir stay with me.
After eating we all took our time getting dressed. If we were going to walk in front of people we were going to look our best and so it turned out we were a bit late and had to run to the gate.
There was already a steady stream of people coming in and this time I also walked proudly my breasts straining against my halter a bit. Candy was riding on my back holding onto my tail. A group of kids passed by us and they waved at hir smiling. I smiled as I saw Candy waving back at them and relaxing hir grip on my tail.
We arrived just in time and was greeted by Brightstep who was in a very lively mood. Shi was light gray with tuffs of brown fur on hir chest and upper belly and a bit surprisingly she was topless which made me feel a bit over dressed. Shi quickly told us what to do and said it was ok for Candy to stay so long she didn't interfere.
It was hard work concentrating so much so after an hour we took a five minute break. When our two hours were done we had caught seven people three of which actually had those guns that could get past a metal detector. We were exhausted when we went outside but we brighten up quickly when we saw Laika with drinks for all of which we both gulped down.
Candy was on my back again enjoying hirs as we walked around making our way to the stage. Today anybody could perform and we were curious to see. Along the way we saw lots of people and every now and then we were stop as people asked for photographs. Some we indulged letting the little kids sit on us as the parents took the photos we also answered questions about what we are and the awestruck reactions of the people as we showed them our sheaths nearly had us rolling on the ground with laughter.
We finally made it to the stage and you had to admit some of the people that performed where amazing others should just stay away from a mic.
All to soon we had to do another shift but it was easier this time since the flow of people decreased.
It was kinda late when it all ended and we were on our way back when Stripes asked me to follow hir. Shi led me to one of the living spaces that was set up for furries who didn't feel ready to leave the facility yet. In there sat a chakat looking extremely nervous and shi gave a visible jump as we walked.
"Lupus I have a favor to ask you" said Stripes
The first thing that ran through my mind was that shi was is in heat or rut but a few quick sniffs told me I was wrong.
"Depends what it is" I said sounding a bit uncertain.
"We need you to let hir stay with you and help hir to become comfortable with being a chakat" said Stripes
"O boy this might be trouble" I thought looking at the chakat.
