#1 of Background Stories

There are many aspects of Death that exist in some form around the world...

While many of the world's beliefs show the aspect of Death as a robed figure wielding a scythe meant to harvest the souls of the soon to be departed, there are other legends that express the aspect of Death, is in reality a royal figurehead. One of many aspects in existence that maintain their regency through the mere mention of their name and what they represent.

Destiny... Creation, Oblivion...

These siblings were birthed from the first strike of life out of the Void that was only known as Darkness, their Patron. Life coalescing from the existence of light and energy becoming the subsequent womb that all sparks came from, a cauldron of colliding essence that forged the first stars out of nothingness.

Their names long forgotten by the annals of history, the Aspects of Existence maintain a balance for the mortal worlds, not just in our galaxy but those surrounding us and flowing throughout the known and unknown universe.

Lachesis is the eldest of the Nine. Progenitor of Fate and Sibling to Destiny. They are the immediate Aspect of Death, viewing the world through a series of timelines and and histories, when the world was new, there were less lives to keep track of, as Time progressed however, the newer lives provided a unique problem, as such Death became known as a concept construct, splintering into many iterations of itself just as Fate, Destiny, Time, and other Aspects became known. Humanity gave names and faces to these splintered deities and in turn, became the sole responsibility of those Deaths and Reapers that they had splintered from Lachesis's own form, the hidden Old One.

There are many Royal Families descended from the originator line, Including King Yan and Izanami as well as Mictl?nt?cutli in the Aztec west, with many sub-deities listed as both descendant and cousin of the originators from time long since past.

To earn the name of your Death is considered to be a Great Honor, but there are few, if any whom remember the name of the First. As such Lachesis chose a different name so as to hide their very nature while walking amongst the mortals of the various worlds they preside over.

One should be careful poking around for such information... for to earn Death's true name, is to try and hold the Aspect of Death as servant itself.

And woe be to any whom let their guard down, when Death seeks to free itself from a bond.
