(Seemingly) Endless Sea

Story by Dunthyon on SoFurry

The task of moving the boat into the harbor 80 miles away would not be easy to accomplish. Dunthyon had hoped that someone he knew would be willing to help move the boat with their car or other vehicles. He would have to ask around the city, or this adventure would be cut very short. Dunthyon limped to town as quick as possible. Due to Dunthyon's prosthetic leg, Dunthyon wouldn't be able to get too far. "Maybe I should ask if Alex could make a Cyborg leg to help in motion." Dunthyon would do this as soon as he found a ride. Suddenly a large burst of blistering FURY made him black out, and the next thing he knew he found himself in the middle of the city. Surrounded in ash and smoldered corpses, Dunthyon soon realised what he just did. The Mass had made him kill off the whole city. He was running out of time. Dunthyon broke into the nearest car and was lucky enough to find the keys still in the ignition. "Oh SHIT!!!" Dunthyon said. This was Alex's car, and that over on the Annex next to him, was Alex's corpse. That ruled out any possibility of getting a new leg in order to help him on his quest.

Dunthyon drove off in shame and guilt, to his home to retrieve his boat. Once there, he hooked the boat up to his--ALEX'S-- car. At the docks, a calico, female Anthro cat was asking where Dunthyon was going. Dunthyon conversed with the female, and found her to be somewhat helpful to his mission. She mentioned her being a World War III veteran, and that would certainly help the Evils that Dunthyon would encounter. He noticed a nick in her left ear, and her right hand was badly scarred. What was meant to be an eye, was now a small... what seemed to be a hidden gun, but Dunthyon must be mistaken. He decided not to ask about it, as it may have offended her if he had. Dunthyon and, who he learned to be Kat, undocked Dunthyon's boat, and set off towards the closest part of Asia possible. Mt. Everest used to be in the southern region of Asia, but since the Cataclysm, Southern Asia, has been rotated towards the New North Pole.

The sea was dark and cold; not the best conditions for sailing. Dunthyon had packed seven weeks worth of food on the small cargo boat, even though he would only need about a weeks worth. Fog as thick as pea soup, briney smell of the over-polluted waters of New New Jersey. After about 3 days, they finally made it out of the fog and polluted waters. He set the ship on auto-pilot set to the New South Asia. Dunthyon walked to Kat and asked if she was okay. "I don't know Dunthyon... it's just..." She paused for a few minutes. Dunthyon continued "Is it about you leaving New New Jersey? Because that is not a valid reason to be upset." "Well... it's not so much that... it's that I left my Husband in New New Jersey, and I may never see him again..." Kat answered. "I miss his warm touch is what I really feel right now." Dunthyon answered her with a soothing tone, "You have me Kat. No need to worry." He tenderly embraced her, and she didn't resist. No, instead, she put her arms around him aswell, and felt his warm face. Dunthyon had always wanted to feel love... He never could though, because he was never programmed to. The so-called 'feelings' were really malfunctions. Anger was his wires overheating. Rage was his motherboard short-circuiting. And others were programs installed when he was built, to mimic the feelings of Love, Happiness, Sympathy, Hope, Courage, and Caring; All fake, made to seem as if he were a real Anthro.

Dunthyon tenderly placed his hand on Kat's cheek, and moved closer to her. Kat hesitated, but she then went along and also moved closer. They both placed their lips on each others, and added suction to the placement; an old Human custom described as 'kissing'. After their romantic conversation, they headed down to the lower parts of the ship, and walked into their quarters. Dunthyon couldn't shut down for some reason, as if The Mass wouldn't allow it. The Mass had seeped deep into his synthetic skin, and became invisible. Which may have been the reason that Kat had ever agreed to help him. After a long and restless night, Dunthyon had gona back up to the wheel, and steered to the harbor that was now only 400 feet away. Getting across the sea and to New South Asia was the easiest part... now he and his new ally, had to make it across a vast land to Frozen Death's home. Asia was now an underpopulated region, with barely any Anthro-made areas. All either a forest or desert, Asia would not be easy to cross...(Continued December 17)
