End of the line
End of the line
I sit watching the set with my wife and my child,
Unbeknown to us the world should go wild.
With no real warning and little time,
Emergency broadcast - End of the line.
Soon all of our dreams and all our desires
Will be consumed in our warfare's fires.
Saturday afternoon, the clock struck one.
Here it comes, they're dropping the bomb.
My child grabbed my hand, my wife kissed my lips
Ignorantly forgetting how their skin will hiss
And how it will bubble and burn away
In this holocaust, I cry in dismay.
Seconds away was the bang and the flash,
Life as we know it will be reduced to ash.
Everything on the planet soon shall rumble,
Streams dry out, trees burn, buildings crumble.
As the bomb fell from the sky and smashed to the ground
My daughter stood calmly, not making a sound.
How could she stand there, smile on her face?
The world as we know it will be barren wastes.
"Don't worry baby, everything will be fine."
"No it won't Daddy, it's end of the line."
"Hold me tight, we'll be in heaven you'll see."
"No Daddy, you can't believe what you see on T.V"
The fire rushed forward killing all in its way
This is the end, here and today.
I feel my daughter tug on my hand
As we stare at the destruction across the land.
I looked at my daughter tears in my eyes.
She just smiled at me, and whispered "Goodbye..."
