Love at last sight...

...

"...Wh-What?....What happened? I can't remember....Where is Faye!?"

"...Probably hating you right now."

"Huh? What are you talking about...?"

"God damn, you stupid cat; after all that talk about keeping her happy and some other bullshit, you screw up at the first go!"

"...Who are you?"

"Yes, Desho, question this contrived conversation for your own pleasure of knowing! So how easy it was to forget about that chick? Feels good, don't it?"

"What!? I don't think that at all! Where's Faye?"

"Then again...You need her because she's 'oh so' sad, so very very sad. Brings a tear to your eye. Thankfully for you, that's all you need to feed on and continue living in this fucking world you despise."

"...No, that's not..."

"But whatever, don't worry about that now. You'll break her heart soon enough so don't you worry your sorrowful little head...Now it's time to wake up Desho!

"What?"

"Wake up, Desho!"

...The bright sunlight glared in through a small window, it was the sun of a late afternoon, it yellow and orange tint blinding Desho. The world slowly came into focus showing dreary yellow walls, a prevalent black and white tiled floor, and the stinging smell of rubbing alcohol rushed into the black-furred cat's nose and to the back of his skull. He immediately knew he was in SAIA's clinic.

"Desho?" Hissed a strong voice, "Are you okay? Say something?"

A red figure slowly faded into a figure reminiscent of Rath...There was, however, a large population of pink colors so maybe they were hearts and it was actually a cute femme nurse attending to him. Desho reached out started rubbing the figure's chest.

"Um...I guess he's fine," Rath dully stated as Desho groped his chest vigorously.

"That's good to hear," Went a grim voice. The Professor of SAIA, a grey wolf with blonde hair and perilous aura strummed his claws on his desk, "Now get him to stop feeling you up, we have matters to discuss."

The lizard with glowing green eyes glared at Desho, who was still desperately rubbing Rath's firm chest, "Stop acting like an idiot!" He ordered as he slapped the hapless cat across the cheek, "This is serious, man!"

The morose cat sighed and sat up. He rested his back against the wall and smiled when he realized he was resting on a surprisingly soft cot. "Oh Rath, I thought you of all Cubi would appreciate the humor of that," He muttered tiredly, "I could use some humor right now."

The tapping of the Professor's shoes approached and the wolf stood in front of the students, holding a clipboard and a pencil. "Well, you don't seem to be blatantly harmed..." The wolf cleared his throat and started scribbling on the clipboard's paper, "...Tell me, do you feel any kind of pain? Any strange feelings?"

The cat closed his eyes and lowered his head, his head stung like there was a needle poking at his brain. He first thought it was just the sudden smell of a clinic but he genuinely had a headache it seemed, "My head hurts...Like, it's aching and throbbing dully...and I'm really tired..."

"Hmm, I see..." The grim wolf wrote whatever doctors liked to write during patient examinations; maybe a list of bad puns. "Anything else?"

"...No...that's about it." Desho looked back up to him with concerned frown, "...Where's Faye?"

The Professor gazed list fully down at him with a look of contempt, "...Don't worry about Faye." He stated, partially to try and ease Desho and not realizing, or not caring, that it wasn't filling the young incubus with much confidence. The wolf glanced to his side and pulled a wooden chair close to sit on it. He lowered himself to Desho's height and crossed his legs, "We need to talk about what happened to you last night."

"...Last night?" Desho huffed and looked away, he found that the events of the night before were quite hazy, like they didn't even happen. "It's...hard to remember..."

"Take your time," The Professor re-assured the cat, "Tell me what you can remember." The wolf, despite his words, seemed to be quickly growing impatient. His ears flattened to their back and he glared at the cat.

"...Hmmm..." Desho mewed weakly. All he could bring himself to remember was that something definitely happened. He remembered that he was with Faye; they went to the lake and watched the full moon and starry night sky. "She asked me if we would make good parents and she was afraid of making people sad...then I told her that she was the happiest and most important person to me in the world...and then we...kissed for the first time..."

Desho coughed and blushed while rubbing his nose, much to the confusion of the Rath and the Professor. "Just give me a second," he muttered.

One by one, the memories of the previous night came to him like pieces of a puzzle. Each second and every star of that night came to him like lost pieces, "Our first kiss...She said she 'loved me the way I am now' after I said I'd change for her...I was confused but I was also happy...It made me feel stronger than anything in the world..." The cat sniffed and shook his head, "But then...something came...something cold and dark..." A ringing began to scratch inside his head, "That monster....It came out of nowhere...It seemed like it was trying swallow us whole or something....It hurt Faye...Then I lost it and I...I...."

A heavy screeching began to bellow inside his head. It hissed and howled within his skull and sent chills throughout his body. "Ah....ngh..." Desho muttered as he winced, his eyes shut, bared his sharp teeth as he gripped his head. The harrowing siren raged inside his head and frantic screaming clawed at the insides of his skull. He growled harshly and fell to his side, scratching at his head.

"Desho! What's wrong!?" Rath leaned forward and held the pained cat's shoulder.

The Professor growled incoherently and looked away, "...So they were indeed attacked...this isn't looking good." He muttered.

"Ah-ah...I..." Desho suddenly opened his eyes and the pain slowly faded away. "I...That thing attacked us...and then I attacked back, there was an explosion and that's all I remember before I blacked out." He babbled as he regained his balance with Rath's assistance.

"Yes...that explosion. That was definitely yours now wasn't it." The Professor said. "That was quite an extravagant blast of yours, you have some good potential for magical attacks...Too bad you decided to demonstrate it on that monster, you utterly obliterated my experiment."

Desho tilted his head and sneered at the wolf, "...Experiment!? Wh-What!?"

The wolf raised his right eyebrow and raised his finger in front of the cat, "Now calm down, this attack was nothing but an accident, so don't you dare lose your temper with me!" He snorted and shook his head before turning around. A sliver of annoyance chipped off the shoulder like the falling leaves of the trees outside the academy. The walls seemed as if they lost their color with the obtrusive atmosphere of the room, choking the life out its inhabitants. Even the air itself seemed explosive at the slightest errant twitch.

Desho's claws grazed against his geans and he gritted his teeth. He huffed, looked at the ceiling, and shook his head. He clasped his paws together. "...Where...is...Faye...?" He asked firmly and as calmly as he could.

Rath twiddled his fingers and looked at Desho and then to the Professor who had his back turned. His heart was his pounding against his ribs and he shut his eyes, he wanted to say something to try to calm down his friend, yet the obvious rage emanating from the cat energized him; no thanks to his clan's emotional affinity. He just silently watched, shuffling in his seat and tapping his fingers on his knees, trying to decide what was really more important.

The grim wolf silently stood with his back turned to Dehso, who was getting angrier by the second. He looked around the room, not moving from his frozen position, and coughed. He sniffed and said, "Fa'lina...Go see Fa'lina..." He turned around to face the cat, "...Faye is there I'm sure...The headmistress wishes to speak with you anyway." He glanced to Rath, "Accompany him." He briefly commanded before turning back around and crossed his arms with a swish of his bushy tail.

Desho silently glared at the Professor as he rose to his feet and slowly stepped out of the room to be followed by Rath.

"Why are you here?" Desho muttered to the lizard. "No offense or anything but how are you involved in this?"

The lizard huffed and scowled, "So that's all you have to say? 'Why am I here?' No 'Hi Rath' or 'How have you been?' For your information, I carried you back here because your my best friend." He crossed his arms as he walked beside the cat.

"....I'm sorry," said Desho, "...It's just seems like no one wants to give me any answers and just leave me clueless." He glanced over to Rath, "I'm just worried."

Slowly they walked through the halls to the Headmistress' office, adorned with a fancifully cut wooden plaque that read 'Headmistress' carved into it. Desho approached the door without a word, he raised his paw to knock the hard wood but before any contact was made, a "Come in Desho," was heard from the other side. Fa'lina was expecting him for sure and Desho had to remind himself to not be surprised since SAIA was Fa'lina's own domain.

Rath stepped beside him and leaned on the wall beside the door, "Hey, you go in alone; I'll wait here until you're done."

Desho nodded before he twisted the brass doorknob and entered the room. It had been a few months since he had last seen fancy red carpet and the bookshelves lining the southern wall. The walls were a light tan and a miniature candle chandelier hung from the ceiling, it wasn't lit since it was still late afternoon but he would never forget how brilliantly the contraption lit the room, more brilliant than he expected from a candle light.

At the dark brown desk sat Fa'lina, her short white fur and light purple hair that seemed to bounce with beauty and, presumably, health. The high back-end chair was planted in front of a large window that seemed to be built in glass squares; the window itself was a large arch and provided a spectacular view of the entire SAIA domain, perfect for master of such a domain.

"Desho, it's been awhile since we last spoke face to face like this, hasn't it?" Fa'lina smiled, her dark purple lipstick befitting the stature of a high society 'mistress'. She was rather tall, at least a foot taller than the cat.

Desho, when he first saw her a year before, he had intensely disliked her based purely on her appearance. He had once come to the belief that a finely dressed person was a cold-hearted villain. While Fa'lina wasn't exactly the most humble personality (she once boasted the large size of her bosom to the hapless cat who couldn't be helped but to stare and wonder if they weren't magically enhanced), she did prove to be the foil of that thought and was quite the Succubus deserving of her beauty; that's what Desho came to believe anyway.

"It has," He replied, "Thank you again for allowing me to attend this academy, I've never been happier."

The fine poodle smiled, "Relax Desho, you always thank me whenever you see me, you mustn't feel the need to be so modest all the time right?" When the cat smiled and nodded in reply, Fa'lina's smile slowly faded and she stood. She turned to the window and crossed her arms, "I wish that you were here for only a fun talk but I know you're here for important matters..." She glanced back to him, "...You wish to see Faye?"

Desho nodded and smiled, "Yeah...Is she alright?"

Fa'lina looked back out the window; her expression became hidden from the black furred cat. "The Professor has taken a look at her and she hasn't had any injuries but she is resting now...So I must beg of you to please be patient for and with her."

"But..." Desho took a single step forward and froze. He looked away and bit his lip, "...Yeah....you're right..." He stepped back and crossed his arms.

"Why don't you sit?" Fa'lina suggested.

"...I don't want to sit..." Desho muttered as looked at the floor. All he wanted to do was just stand still, he felt like if he moved an inch, he would collapse. He slowly looked around the room. It was still as clean and polished as ever, he wondered who always kept it so neat and tidy. In the corner of his eye, he saw a strange figure floated quietly in the corner of the room. It was an all black figure that resembled a cartoonist ghost. It had a symbol on it's forehead that resembled a shape familiar of a 'T'. This symbol was the mark of Fa'lina's clan. With its purple aura, its ethereal form, and the undoubtedly clan symbol; Desho concluded that it was Fa'lina Warp-Aci.

Fa'lina sighed, "If you wish...However...I have some concerns we must speak of..." She brushed her hair, "...I must explain something about what happened to you."

Desho looked away from the silent Warp-Aci and looked up to her. His fingers clenched, "You knew about it!?" "How could she and not do anything!?" He thought.

"Listen to me Desho," Fa'lina shook her head, "That monster...It's known as the 'Wraith Project'. It was being developed by the Professor with my consent. I believed it would assist the Professor in his research, as well as..." She paused and looked at the afternoon sky, "...as well as fulfill a personal favor. What happened to you last night was never meant to happen."

"....So what happened?" He inquired.

"...A stray element." Fa'lina answered, "During the development process, a stray element interfered and 'infected' the Wraith. There was a time when the Professor had one of your belongings, the headphones of yours..." Fa'lina glanced to him, "I notice Faye was holding them; she still is in fact...."

"Oh..." Desho smiled briefly, "...I gave those to her as a gift yesterday."

Fa'lina lightly giggled, "That's so sweet of you." She turned away again, "At the time however, you had just been wearing them I believe. One of your hairs found its way into the Wraith 'egg'. From that stray element, the development fell out of control and it developed...a 'murderous intent'."

"A...'murderous intent'...?" Desho silently watched her, pondering the meaning until it finally hits him like freight train. His heart froze in place and his stomach felt like a black hole. His breath left him and his paws shook, "Wh-What are you...trying to say!?" He asked in a shaky voice. He was afraid of what she meant and even more so of the fact that she was right. His world darkened except for him and Fa'lina. His head began to spin. "Fa-Fa'lina? ...Please answer me!"

The headmistress said not a word nor moved an inch.

To Desho, her not responding only cemented his fears. His blood turned to ice and his grinded his teeth together, "N-No...." He gasped, "...This can't be...She said that my past didn't matter, that it wouldn't repeat itself...It's not my fault...."

At the images of his parents corpses, he felt like he was going to vomit, "I-It's not my f-fault..." He harshly whispered as he held his head.

Fa'lina turned around with a worried frown, "Desho, it's-"

"It's not my fault!!" Desho shouted desperately, letting go of his head. He didn't realize that water was filling in his eyes. His heart pounded and his body was shaking, he looked desperately around the room, looking for some sort of escape, somehow managing to not notice the door. He had to escape somehow, even if it meant blaming someone else, "H-How could you blame me for this!" He shut his eyes and shouted again, "This is your domain, where were you!! Can you not manage this? Or do you just enjoy watching your loved ones get hurt!?"

Fa'lina gasped and she covered her mouth her hand. She took a quick breath and stepped towards him, "Desho, control yourself!!" Suddenly, her entire body tensed briefly and she heard a mild hissing and screeching as Desho held his head again and fell to his knees. "Desho?" She rushed to him and knelt beside him

"Damn it...it's happening again....What is this!?" The scratching of metal and the screaming of a victim ravaged his mind. With each echo of the siren, with each heartbeat of the pained murdered, his felt that much closer to exploding. Tears ran down his cheeks and he could hear nothing but the high pitched whistling scratching down the length. It seemed like a whole day passed as he grimaced in pain, he gasped desperately and a felt a warm liquid out of his nose, it smelt like rust and decay.

"Desho!? You're hurt!" Fa'lina covered her mouth and her eyes were wide with shock.

Desho opened his bloodshot eyes while the siren slowly faded. He eyes were locked on the floor under him as small drops of blood pulled together. He felt his wattened nose and rubbed it dry, as he eyed his paw now smeared with his blood, more drops of the red liquid trickled off his whiskers.

As Fa'lina reached over to Desho, her paw was smacked away. The panicked cat immediately rose to his feet and he rushed out of the room, slamming the door open and running away as fast as his legs would carry him.

"Desho!" Rath called out as his friend rushed past him and out of sight. The lizard looked into the Fa'lina's office, it was empty, the headmistress had disappeared. He wasted no more time searching and rushed after Desho.

...In the courtyard of SAIA, there were no other students. Either they were at their classes or off doing their own business, Desho sat alone at the foot of Heroic Statue, watching the tree wither ever so slowly, leaf by leaf. He sat, holding his knees to his chest and resting his chin on the caps. The blood on his nose had dried and crusted but his eyes were still wet. He quietly watched the setting sun like he had that day before...

"Desho." Rath stood beside him, he watched with genuine concern and his glowing eyes seemed to dim.

The barely glanced at him without moving his body and return to watching the landscape quietly.

The red scaled lizard quietly sat beside him. He reached over and rubbed Desho's left shoulder, receiving no response.

"Are you in pain now?" Rath asked.

Desho shook his and sighed.

The lizard leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees. "...You know Fa'lina cares about all her students' right? I'm sure she cares especially for you and Faye."

"Why? There's nothing special about me," Desho muttered, "I'm just another moody kid."

Rath shook his head, "Stop it, you're better than this. And you know Fa'lina doesn't like seeing people get hurt."

"You were eavesdropping?" Desho asked.

"Well, it was hard not to, you shouted at the top of your lungs." Rath rubbed his chin and looked at the sunset as well. "I think that the Headmistress has had more than enough of her loved ones getting hurt..."

"What do you mean?" Desho glanced at him

Rath tilted his head and slightly glared at Desho, "You mean you're here at SAIA and you don't know what she's gone through?"

Desho sniffed and looked away; he held his knees tighter and lowered his head.

Rath shut his eyes. "...Well, learning now is better than never." He sighed, "Have you at least heard of the 'Dragon-Cubi War' of long ago."

"...Yeah...My parents told me once that we were part of Seme's Clan of Despair because of 'The Great War'."

"About half a millennia ago, it was a war that raged in Furrea. I'm not about to give you an in-depth history lesson but Fa'lina's clan was one of the many victimized clans."

Desho looked at him, "I knew Fa'lina was a clan leader but do you mean she lost a huge portion of her clan during the war?"

Rath cleared his throat and look at him straight in the eyes, "More than that, brother." He referred to Desho as a 'brother' again, which made the cat feel a bit better. "I don't know how it all happened but Fa'lina's entire clan was wiped out in a single day."

"No one...survived?" Desho asked.

"Every. Last. One." Rath stated calmly, "I'm surprised the Headmistress didn't lose her mind a long time ago...She's really incredible. You must have felt her sorrow Desho, right?"

"I...I don't know..." Desho glanced back at the main SAIA building, "I wonder how long Fa'lina's been around...Her entire clan gone in a single day..." He sniffed and felt like he was an arrogant jerk. "That was something over five hundred years ago..."

"Hey, Furrea to Desho; we're Cubi." Rath crossed his arms, "Five hundred years is a relatively short time for someone who's been around for well over a few millennia."

Desho looked at the orange sky and then glanced to Rath, "...I can't believe what I said to her...So ignorant....Dammit, I suck." He slapped his forehead.

"Well...You didn't know..." Rath leaned over to him with a smirk, "This reminds me of when you lost your cool around Mira month or so ago. Looks like somebody has temper problem. Which is good since the tantrums you threw today gave me some good angry energy that we Owona Clan are so fond of."

"Oh...well, thanks for the support." Desho rolled his eyes and smiled.

The two Incubi smiled together and they nodded. "Desho?" Went a soft voice.

Desho's ears immediately perked up and he looked back to see a white furred cat succubus with golden hair. "Faye!?" He stood and Rath leaned his head in to watch.

Faye was standing a few meters away and smiling, "Desho...You're okay..." She then ran to the black furred cat and hugged him tightly.

"I'm so happy you're okay too," Desho mewed as he held Faye in his arms, "I was so worried." He winced his eyes and rubbed his cheek on her head, "I'm so happy..."

Faye looked up to him and stared into his eyes. They watched each other silently before they inched closer and their lips touched.

"Well, well, what's this?" Rath stood and rubbed his chin with a proud smirk. "So I get to witness the first kiss..."

Faye slowly pulled away and looked at the lizard as she cuddled Desho, "This is actually our second." She giggled and nuzzled the chest she coddled.

Rath's jaw dropped, "Oh really? You two have been busy I see. "He snickered. "Desho!" He yelled and pointed an accusing finger at the said cat, "Don't think you're off the hook, you need to apologize to Fa'lina!"

"I know...I know..." He rubbed Faye's head, "I'm not about to let this one go."

Faye tilted her head and the two soon kissed again. They cuddled happily together for the next five minutes while Rath made cracks and innuendos.

...In SAIA's clinic, Fa'lina conversed with the Professor.

"...This pain Desho has been experiencing has been caused by the Wraith Project?" The headmistress softly asked.

The grey wolf nodded, "That's the conclusion I'm arriving at. It seems to be emotion based, ticking off whenever he gets stressed." He shook his head, "At this time...I can only speculate on what could happen in the long run." He slowly stepped to his side, standing next to the jar with a melted hole in the side that was previously the, now-destroyed, Wraith's home. "I'm sorry Fa'lina."

Fa'line crossed her arms and watched the floor in deep thought.

"I am deeply sorry Headmistress..." The Professor winced and coughed. Facing Fa'lina, he bowed and lowered his head in front of her, like he was begging and praying, "I am so deeply sorry Fa'lina...I couldn't prevent the coming future you had foreseen. I've failed you..."

"Relax, Professor..." The Headmistress shook her head and smiled bleakly, "I never truly believed you, or anyone else, could change the fates...Don't blame yourself for events beyond your control..." She turned away and looked at the clawed out walls and torn books. She thought about Desho, his splitting headaches and his involvements with Faye, "...That poor child...I fear I may have inadvertently dragged him into something that will only hurt him in the end..." She whispered quietly to herself.

"However, Fa'lina, there is a development you should know of." The Professor slowly stood back up and forced himself to look straight at the Headmistress, "About Faye's memories..."

Fa'lina turned around and watched him with a spark of intrigue.

"During my examination of her," The Professor sighed and adjusted his round glasses, "She told me something...interesting..." He coughed and rubbed his nose, "It seems the Wraith fulfilled its purpose to a certain extent. Faye remembers her past...She remembers everything."

"What!?" Fa'lina approached him and stared into his eyes, "Tell me everything she told you...Tell me about Faye's past..."
