"Hey! You little brat, come back here!" Yelled a hapless black cat incubus named Desho, who had tripped and fallen. From the floor, he watched in fury and embarrassment as a blue furred bunny succubus with red eyes stood on a balcony above him, giggling smugly and looking down to him.

In the hallways of the Succubus and Incubus Academy, among the fancy red crimson carpets and the light brown walls, Cubi students passed along their way to their next classes or to their dorms. As a student, if one were lucky, one wouldn't have to be caught up in the typical drama of such an academy of young Cubi nor be the victim of a prank or extravagant trap, if only for the 'Trapper's entertainment.

Desho, the Seme Clan Incubus, was unfortunate enough to be caught in one of these esoteric ambushes, created by Mira, the Dimanika Clan Succubus. Despair versus Confusion; a life or death situation, this was not, but for Desho, the robbery of the package he was delivering would result in a punishment more severe than death, involving...an egg beater.

"You have no idea what kind of trouble I'm gonna be in if I lose that you stupid brat!" Desho yelled furiously as he tugged on his foot, trying to free it from a rope snare.

"Hey, I'm not a stupid brat," Yelled back the blue bunny in an annoyingly high pitched voice, "I'll have you know I'm 18 years old and quite intelligent!" Mira crossed her arms and held the small box shaped package by the small string that held it all together, "If this is so important, come and get it!" She turned around and zipped of around the corner.

A curious trait of this girl was that she was young, so young that she hadn't yet reached the age where she would develop her Cubi traits, which is typically in the early 20. She had no wings or wing-tentacles; even her clan mark on her upper back was just barely visible. Despite the physical impairments, she still had the mischievousness of a Cubi and specifically, the Dimanika clan.

But then she came back, "By the way, Emo Kitty, you need a hair-cut!" She raised a finger to her face and pulled down on the lower eyelid of her right eye, "Nyeh!" She then left around the corner again.

Desho could have sworn he heard the steam hissing out of his ears. He pounded the floor with a fist and yanked his foot free from the rope snare. "That stupid kid, that delivery is for the Professor. If he finds out I lost it..." He gasped and froze, "...No, not the egg beater...anything but the egg beater." He mewed fearfully and huddled himself into the fetal position.

"Um, what are you doing?" Went a soft voice.

"Huh?" Desho looked above him to see a white cat with golden hair named Faye looking down to him with a confused stare. "Oh um...I'm in trouble." He quickly rolled back to his feet and stood in front of Faye, pulling on his own ears, "Mira took a package from me, a package for the Professor and I need it back or I'm dead!" He raised an eyebrow and his heart paused. He rubbed his head and felt his ears, "....Where are my headphones? I could have sworn..."

As the cat searched the general vicinity for his headphones, Faye asked, "Mira took it? Well she took something from me too." She smiled and approached Desho; she tapped his shoulder to receive his attention while he crawled around on all fours, "Let's get Rath to help us catch her."

"Hmm alright." He muttered and eyed the room, "I dropped them when I fell, where could they have gone? Did Mira really take them?" He stood up and sighed disappointedly, "...Rath's probably at the field, let's go Faye." He forced a grin patted her shoulder, coaxing her to walk with him.

...At the Academy Fields, many of the Cubi students would spend their time to practice their athletic abilities, from practicing transformation, exploring magic, to racing and fighting skills. Indeed, seeing some flying students or even gryphon wouldn't be an unlikely sight at SAIA. It was a clear midsummer high noon and the breeze was calm, one would call it the perfect day, unlike Desho who would rather have it rain.

Speaking of which, Desho and Faye were quickly approaching the fight area. Many training dummies and broken logs piled beside a post displaying a score of three-to-one. While some Cubi spent time repairing the broken equipment, others were set on destroying the equipment. Rath was among them, as the red lizard with glowing green eyes faced down a featureless training doll, spectated by a group of six incubi and four succubi.

With a mild smirk, Rath lunged forward and head-butted the wooden doll's torso. While the mannequin flew backwards, a green aura formed around it as another Incubus, a pink cat wearing a blue robe, controlled the doll's movements. Before the doll could retain its footing however, Rath leaped and kicked its head. Landing, he swung his right fist, then his left before spinning around with kick.

Rath was displaying his clan's finest skill hand to hand fight by transforming mid-combat. During the spinning kick, his foot transformed into a battleaxe. It sliced the wooden doll's torso in a horizontal half. Yet Rath was determined to finish with a bang, as he faced the doll again, he raised his hands over his head and cocked his red and pink wings back as well. In the blink of an eye, the four limbs transformed into large war hammers. He swung them down with full force upon the helpless doll. With a mighty 'BOOM!', the doll shattered into a thousand splinters and a crater was left in the ground.

In the crowd watching, many 'awes' were heard and there was cheering. Applause quickly developed as all clapped to Rath's fighting prowess. On the other hand, however, the pink cat was not amused, now faced with the task of having to put the doll back together.

"Wow Rath, that was amazing!" Faye complimented in an amazed voice.

The red lizard looked behind himself to notice his friends. "Heh, thank you. That's some serious display of my family's tradition right there." He motioned to the destroyed wooden doll. "Are you two out here to fight?"

Desho shook his head, "Sorry Rath, you know I don't fight." He grinned.

"Oh yeah that's right," He smirked, "You're a pacifist or something." He waved to the crowd who soon dispersed. The lizard grabbed a towel and stood beside Faye, "So why are you two here?"

"We need your help, Rath." Faye spoke in an appreciative tone.

"Oh, you two are in a fix and so you came to your big brother for help." He stated proudly.

Desho tilted his head, "...Brother?" He muttered softly.

Rath stopped in front of them and looked to Desho with a calm smile, "Is it too soon? We've only known each other for about four months now...My bad, I get attached easily."

"Oh no, don't apologize." Desho shook his head and smiled, "I've...never had a brother before so...I'm actually honored that you would consider me that."

Faye giggled, "Same here, be our brother as much as you like."

Rath chuckled happily, "So, what do you two desire?"

"Desire? No we just need your help to catch someone." Faye nodded and rubbed her chin.

"You know Mira?" Desho put in, "Well, she took something from me and I need it back."

"Mira? Hmm..." Rath rubbed his head and scratched his nose. His eyes soon lit up and he grinned, "Oh yeah..." He faced Desho and eyed him with excitement, "You know Desho, she has a total crush on you!"

The Black Cat's heart froze, his hairs stood on end, and his face burned with a blush.

"Wh-What!?" Faye's jaw dropped and her eye twitched. She turned to Desho with a glare and shook his shoulder, "Desho, we gotta put her in her place!"

Desho shook his head and scowled, "I doubt that Rath," he crossed his arms, "All she ever does is steal things from me and just annoy me." It was always like that since he had ever talked to her, she would bug and ask questions he didn't care to answer. To him, it felt like she was trying too hard if anything, he couldn't care less. She was always too cheerful for his taste anyway.

"Dude," Rath leaned forward and patted Desho'd shoulder, "That's the first sign! Haven't you dated a girl before?"

"No." Desho muttered.

Rath gasped again and he turned around, he shook, "Y-You disappoint me Desho, no romance for Emo Kitty it seems..." He turned around and pointed an accusing finger at Faye, "You, cute girl! It is up to you put a stop to Desho's loneliness.

"Uh-ehrm...Ehheh," She looked at Desho and held her paws together at her waist. She blushed and giggled like she always did whenever she got nervous, the suggestion wasn't too far from what she would like, after all.

"So, what was stolen?" Rath asked Desho.

The cat responded grimly with, "It was a delivery for the Professor..."

Rath nearly squeaked with shock and his jaw dropped, "The Professor!? You lost something of the Professor's!"

When Desho nodded with a bleak stare, Rath tilted his head erratically. He immediately turned around and crouched pitifully, holding his knees and whimpering, "Oh no....No nonono......The egg beater Desho..." Rath looked to the sky and shouted, "THE FREAKING EGG BEATER , DESHO!!" The name echoed into the distance.

"Um...." Faye scratched her ear and frowned in confusion, "What are you guys talking about...?"

"No more of the egg beater! That is not important right now!" Rath stood and fired his accusing finger at Desho, "We must now go exact sweet reve-I mean justice to this Mira!" He coughed and approached the two cats and patted their shoulders, "Let's go, I have the perfect plan."

Rath nodded and started walking to the main building to be followed by Desho and Faye. He looked back and smirked, "By the way, Faye, 'Put her in her place'? I never realized you were the jealous type."

"Sh-Shut up Rath..." She muttered

...In one of the many corridors of SAIA, the three Cubi set up their 'perfect' trap.

"So she got you with the classic snare trap eh?" Rath nudged Desho's shoulder as the three hid behind a corner. The three heads were stacked like a pole.

"Yeah...it sucked, I'm still mad about it..." The cat grumbled.

"Desho...Don't be too hard on her..." Faye whispered disappointedly.

"Anyway," Rath shushed them, "Back home, I had like, two little brothers and a sister and all three loved doing pranks all the time. Hell, they pulled one final prank before I left. I learned a few things however..." Rath smirked, "Inexperienced pranksters often fall victims to their own traps."

Faye tilted her head, "You really think Mira will fall for that?"

Rath snickered, "I've seen Mira's work, she's a total noob compared to my siblings..."

Faye rubbed her chin, "What's a...noob?"

"Shh, she's coming, time for the bait." Rath stood and slowly stepped out into the open. He crossed his arms and leaned on the wall. He cupped his paws around his mouth and called out, "Hey Mira! Desho says he'll be your little slave if you give back the Professor's delivery!"

Soon, the pitter-patter of excited feet neared, Desho listened with mild amusement as the footsteps finally culminated with high pitched yelp and the strain of a rope. He leaped out of the corner to see the blue bunny dangling in the air by her foot. She swung gently upside down with a 'not-amused' face.

"Wow, I can't believe that worked!" Faye stepped out crossed her arms as she looked up to Mira. She started giggling uncontrollably.

Rath smirked, "Hook, line, sinker..."

"You're a jerk Rath!" Mira pouted upside and frowned a smile. She looked over to Faye who adorned a smug grin, "Aw, Faye, I thought girls were supposed to stick together?"

Faye brushed her light blonde hair to the side and grinned sweetly. She then pointed her own accusing finger at Mira, "You stole my pudding! I was pissed so I had to get you back."

"Pudding...?" Mira scratched her head for a few seconds before her eyes lit up with a remembrance, her face then grew comedically dramatic, "Ah yes, I remember everything now. It was a Vanilla and Caramel swirl cup...it was delicious, just to let you know..."

Faye giggled cheerfully while Rath called out his wing-tentacles, "Alright, watch your head." He pointed to the rope and the smooth red tentacles from his wings shaped into daggers and cut the rope. Mira flipped to her feet and rubbed her head.

Desho slowly approached her with a stern face, he was silent as he held out his paw in front of her. There was an odd aura and the air grew heavy, erasing the cheerfulness that had pervaded the room just seconds before...

Mira looked at him and blushed, "Oh, what would you like Desho?" She smiled.

"Quit smiling like that, it makes me sick..." Desho thought morbidly. "You know what I want. Give it back!" He spoke harshly and he was glaring. Unlike Rath or Faye, there was no hint of a smile or anything cheerful in his emotions.

Faye and Rath silently looked at each other with worry as Desho glared at the girl.

"Aw, don't get so red! I was just having fun!" She spoke cheerfully and held the package in both hands to him. "Wasn't all that fun Desho?"

Desho's eyes were shaded from his dark hair and he gritted his teeth. His mind was racing from one solution to the end, either way, he could feel his temper sliding into oblivion. He didn't know why he was so upset and he didn't care. He just wanted her to keep quiet and go away. He was silent for five more seconds...

"Desho...?" Mira's smile faded, "Wasn't it f-"

"No, it wasn't fun!!" Desho shouted at her. He bit his lip but it didn't stop him, "It's never fun! Whenever I ever talk to you, you always pull this crap! I hate it!!"

Mira felt her heart drop and she felt like an anvil was crushing her chest. Her mind went blank and her legs felt like rubber, "I...I was just...having fun." She said weakly as the weight on her chest increased. Her red eyes thinned painfully.

"It's not fun!" He snarled. He forcefully snatched the box from her shaking hands and held it greedily. "Just grow up!!" He shouted finally before he grunted and stormed off down the hall.

Mira was shaking completely and a knot rose in her throat. "I-I...B-But I..." Her voice was a cracking squeak as her whole body felt crushed under a rock. "I-I just..." She sobbed as tears welled in the corners of her eyes.

Faye sighed and stepped beside her. She rubbed her shoulders and whispered, "Mira...I'm sorry...".

Rath scratched his head and frowned awkwardly, "Well...I definitely didn't see that coming... Hmm..."

....

...In the clinic of SAIA, the walls were painted yellow, the floor was tiled in black and white squares, and the air stank of alcohol and medicine, it was perfect for a doctor. Desho quietly stepped in, frowning and trying to avoid thinking of the thing with Mira. He stepped in the cool air and approached a desk with the chair, it's back turned to any visitors.

The walls were plastered with various medical posters of Cubi bone structures, wing details, everything one needed to know at a glance about the basics of a Cubi. Other than that, there were plenty of odd displays in glass jars on the shelves on each wall. The Professor seemed to run many odd experiments.

"Well, well, well...if it isn't the protagonist..." A dark and grim voice echoed sharply in the clinic and sent a thousand chills up Desho's spine. The large chair slowly turned to reveal an incubus. He was a grey wolf with blonde hair and yellow eyes, his wings were yellow with black tips and he wore a grey lab coat. He grinned smugly and tapped his desk slowly. "I'm not going to have to bring out the egg beater again, am I?"

"N-No," Desho stuttered and twiddled his paws.

The Professor smirked and rubbed his black nose, "Well then, that's good. Now I believe you have something of mine." He held his paw out expectantly.

The cat nodded quietly and placed the small box gently in the wolf's paw. Desho sighed and turned around without a word.

"Thank you..." The Professor tilted his head as he watched the morose cat walk away slowly, "Is something wrong, child?"

Desho looked back and forced a smile, "I-It's nothing, don't worry about it.

"You know child," The Professor scooted the box to the edge of the desk and held his paws together above the desk. He rested his muzzle on the clasped hands and smiled grimly, "The Headmistress has been watching your progress, and she is always available. Don't hesitate to talk to her if you need help."

The Professor was referring to the headmistress of SAIA, Fa'Lina. Desho knew Fa'lina, she was responsible for him getting into SAIA and was, in a sense, a mother figure for Desho. The cat believed that Fa'Lina must have tried to shape herself that way for all the students who attended SAIA, however, Desho did owe a heavy personal favor to her.

Desho nodded and said, "Yeah...I'll keep that in mind." He turned to leave again but was stopped by the Professor's calm voice.

"Also, do you own a pair of headphones?"

Desho tilted his head, "Y-yeah, I do..." He felt an itch inside his skull. It had just occurred to him that he had forgotten all about his headphones and forgot to ask Mira...

The Professor reached below his desk and then pulled out the small black headphones, he tossed them to Desho. "Be more careful; next time it happens, I'll have a new gift for Fa'lina."

Desho held the headphones in both paws and he looked at them. "So Mira didn't have these..." He looked up to the Professor, "Thanks." He smiled and slowly stepped out of the clinic. "Was that why I was so mad? I didn't even think of them. Faye told me to not be so hard on her yet I really flipped out..."

"Desho..." Went a strong voice.

The cat looked to his side to see Rath standing with arms crossed. The red lizard frowned as he watched Desho. "What you said to Mira...Was that really necessary?" He spoke disapprovingly.

A twinge of guilt snapped in Desho's stomach. He just looked away shamefully.

"Well, if you feel bad about it, you better come take responsibility." Rath beckoned him over, "Over here, come on."

Part of Desho didn't want to go, it was telling things like, "What-the-hell-ever, she's probably faking it, why should I care. Sorrow's good for me anyway." While another part of him was shocked that any part of him would think that. He followed Rath, feeling like a criminal being brought before a judge, he thought, "This must be how a murderer feels when he sees the loved ones of his victims." While he figured he was far from murdering someone, it still felt like someone was repeatedly punching him in the gut.

There he was, standing in front of Mira. She was covering her face and sobbing loudly, Dehso didn't even have to focus to feel the sorrow emanating from her, "She's really crying, I can see the tears drip between her fingers and onto the floor. What should I say?"

Faye held Mira softly while she glared at Desho, which, strangely enough, still seemed adorable to him. She eyed him expectantly as she rubbed the crying bunny-girl's back.

"...Mira." Desho muttered to her.

The blue furred bunny looked up to him with tear stained eyes. She seemed to be afraid, "I-I'm sorry!" She sobbed lightly as she shut her eyes and she rubbed her cheeks, "I'm sorry! I just wanted to have fun w-with you..." She slowly faded back into a myriad of loud sobbing and sniffs.

A small group of students had stopped by and a crowd was forming to watch the scene unfold. Desho felt like everyone in the whole school was shooting needles into his back, he tried his hardest to ignore them. Rath took charge and stood in front of the crowd and motioned for them to move one, "Alright, nothing to see here, get out of here..." He continued to motion for them all to leave as the crowd slowly dissipated.

"I'm sorry, Desho, I'm sorry," Mira cried weakly as she continued to cover her face.

Desho felt low, really low. His ears drooped in shame and felt he might as well have had a heart attack at that moment. A hole in his gut formed and ate away at his insides. Although the sorrow was his emotional affinity and being around it made him somewhat stronger, he couldn't shake the overbearing feeling that he was a terrible person by keeping silent. Everyone was angry at him and he felt like an outsider...He couldn't believe no one was stepping in to help Mira, she was helpless and no one was helping her...Like how he always was before he came to SAIA. He couldn't take it anymore.

Desho dropped to one knee and gently grabbed Mira's paw. The tearful bunny looked at him with shock as Desho looked at her in the eyes, "Mira...I'm sorry!" He spoke firmly. There was a moment of silence and it seemed like everyone was watching him. "I'm sorry Mira...I'm the one who should be sorry. I didn't mean what I said, it was stupid of me..."

Desho scooted a bit closer in front of her as Mira silently watched him, The cat reached to her face and he gently rubbed her tears away from her face, Desho forced a smile. "I think it's really cute when you do those pranks, I just never know what to say...So please, don't be sorry. I'm sorry..."

Another awkward silence ensued. Mira eyed Desho sadly as her face grew warm and a blush formed. Suddenly, with a dark red face, Mira smiled. She quickly lunged at Desho and she wrapped her arms around him tightly. In sudden movement, the cat lost his balance and he sat on the floor as she held him tightly.

Desho wore a look of surprise and he blushed while Mira hugged him. "Oh Desho, it's okay, I forgive you." She giggled as she nuzzled his chest, "I'm happy you like me...I mean my pranks..." She slowly let go and she stood. There was a still a tear in her eye but she quickly wiped it away as she still smiled with a blush. "Thank you Desho."

Desho looked up to her sadly but he forced a smile, "Are you gonna be okay?"

"O-Of course I'll be fine," She shook off another sob, "I'm just really happy right now, that's all." Another tear formed and she quickly wiped it away, "I-I'm gonna go to my room now, bye-bye." She giggled softly and she ran off down the hall.

...A half hour passed by and the heightened commotion calmed down to the usual commotion. Desho sat alone on a bench, listening to his music and feeling sorry for himself. Even though he apologized, he still felt like crap. Like no matter what he could have said, it wouldn't matter. He sighed weakly and sat silently.

"Desho...?"

The morose cat looked up to see Faye looking at him sadly, he removed his headphones and watched the floor. "I'm...sorry...I was really stupid..." He huffed, "You must hate me now. I can understand..." He huffed, "I'm sorry I couldn't be better than that...I'm pathetic..."

Suddenly, Faye wrapped her arms around Desho and she hugged him gently. "Don't say that Desho..." She nuzzled his warm neck softly, "I was mad for a bit but...You apologized and made Mira happy, and that's what's important." Faye spoke softly. She briefly let go of Desho and sat beside him, she hugged him again, "I'm happy for you."

Desho smiled weakly and he hugged her back, "Thanks...Can I be honest though?" Desho cleared his thought and Faye looked up to him, "When she was crying, I almost didn't want to say sorry because...Sorrow makes me stronger, it's my affinity..." The Black Cat rubbed his head, "Before, I would have just went with what I wanted but...Now that I have friends," He looked down at Faye and smiled, "...Now that I have you, I can't seem to bring myself to do it anymore."

The white cat blushed and giggled, "It's okay, Desho, It is indeed your affinity so I would never blame you for it." She rested her head on his shoulder.

Desho blushed and sighed. "Maybe..." He muttered, "Maybe I can change...I bet I could become something happier." He looked to down her, "I'd change everything for you, Faye..."

Faye blushed and smiled quietly, she rested her head against his neck and Desho rested his head on hers. Her little triangular ears tickled his fuzzy neck and just being close to Faye made his whole body feel warm. He smiled and they silently sat together, passing by the time.

....

...In the SAIA Clinic, A succubus watched the two with a soft smile.

"Bad news Fa'lina, your little girl's growing up." The Professor sarcastically stated. He fiddled around with a glass jar containing a strange substance.

The succubus was a Poodle with short white fur, yellow eyes, and healthy pink hair. Her wings on her back and head were pink with the tips being a lighter shade of pink. She worse a fancy purple robe with gold colored lining, it was by no means extravagant but it appeared to be well made. Fa'lina, the headmistress of SAIA, looked back to the Professor with a smile, "Yes, It appears she is, I'm happy for her."

"Hmm...But are you sure about Desho?" The Professor spoke grimly as he tapped the glass jar, "I mean no offense to the child but considering you pulled him straight from a life of homelessness on the streets as well as his considerably 'spotty' past..." The Professor coughed and cleared his throat, "Are you sure that's kind of Incubus you want Faye to fall in love with?"

Fa'Lina giggled sinisterly and bared a toothy grin of razor-sharp teeth, "Oh come now Professor, If I really judged others based on things like that, would you have a job here?"

The Professor scratched the glass and he fell into a coughing fit, "W-Well, I guess not." He cleared his throat, "As long as she's happy I suppose." The Professor stood straight and scratched his chin, "Now...I know why you are here and 'Yes'. The 'Wraith Project' is coming along smoothly."

Fa'lina turned away to watch Desho and Faye sitting happily together, paying barely half-attention to the professor.

"When this little experiment is finished," The Professor opened the small cardboard box and pulled out a small vial of color-shifting liquid, "I'll be able to get countless hours of research done in only a few minutes..." The Professor twisted open the jar and promptly dripped the liquid upon the floating dark cloud within. "Not to mention, I'll be able to do that 'small favor' I promised you."

While the Professor fiddled around with his project, Fa'lina frowned as she quietly watched Desho and Faye sitting together happily, hugging the other quietly. She felt her heart beat with level of concern yet she still held on to a string of hope. "Yes..." She whispered, "...It will be a miracle if this experiment, nay, if anything can prevent the future of which I fear most..."

The cats giggled together, both of them in their own world together. The headmistress sighed and muttered, "Anything to stop the sorrow that's to come..."

Authors Comments:

This is a fan fiction of a wonderful webcomic known as Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures aka DMFA. It was created by Amber Panyko aka MissMab. The settings of SAIA, Furrea and the Cubi concept in general were all created by her. [www.missmab.com]

The only Orginal characters in this story are the main characters, Desho, Faye, and Rath.

I had some trouble with this chapter because is the only chapter of which I hadn't thought about the story of beforehand. In fact, I ended up writing ch.6 before I wrote this because I was still thinking about it, I went through at least three Ideas before I landed on one I liked.

Also, not to mention, this came out so much longer than I originally intended for a chapter, probably because this chapter is a full short story.

I hope you like it

Let me know what you think?
