Author's Note:

So we meet again! So... yeah. There's not allot of chapter writing happening like there used to be. I will admit it. I have not lived up to what I said I'd become in terms of writing, but it's not like this story was all that big to begin with. Nothing else other then happy holidays, since they're coming up and knowing me, I will, at best, release the next installment of Dragon Storm sometime next year. Man... I have grown lazy. >.=.> '

-PREVIOUSLY ON DRAGON STORM-

"Must... resist..." Rio was holding his head in massive pain as he was engulfed in that black pattern that covered his body. Suddenly, he dashed forward, but then disappeared, reappearing above the human and crashing down on him causing a giant explosion.

The human could be seen skidding out of the smoke; he couldn't believe that he just lost his arm. Not physical lost, but it was turned to stone. The human couldn't move it at all and nothing seemed to shatter it without taking his arm with it. The human gritted his teeth before looking around for Rio or whatever he was undergoing. Just then, the human saw a claw swipe at untold speeds nearly strike him in the face, but he instinctively dodge it by leaning back and jumping back for some distance. Before he could even recover, he dived to the side, dodging a black flame that hurled his way. The massive rock it hit was completely devoured in black flames and seemingly engulfed everything.

"That black flame... I have an attack that is similar to it... I know that is the hottest kind of flame that there is. One hit by that thing and it's over." The human said as he looked over the now-struggling-for-freedom dragon over his inner demon, Ori.

"Ori!! Stay AWAY!!" Rio shouted as he finally pushed Ori back and began to pant heavily. " S-sorry... shall we proceed?" Rio asked, slightly embarrassed that that happened.

"Hm?" The human said when he noticed a door appear in front of Rio. They both looked at it as it slowly opened up and shined a bright warm light on Rio.

"What's that? A door of light?" Rio asked and took a step back.

"It seems your time is up, Rio. That is your only way out of here. If you do not take it and leave now... you will never be able to leave again..." The human said as he powered-down and pointed at it.

"But..." Rio said, but then heard his friend's voices through the door.

"Rio! What the hell happened to him!?" Lazz asked in shock.

"Are you going to save him or not!?" General May shouted.

"I will need your help as well... I only have one hand and won't be able to properly pump Rio's chest." Lazz said and kneeled down as May placed Rio on the ground.

"Then I will pump his chest!" General May said and kneeled down also, ripping Rio's shirt open and placing her hands on his chest.

"You better go... it sounds as though you're friends need you still, Rio." The human said.

"But... damn it... I promise you, human... I will-" Rio was cut off by the human.

"You promise that you will befriend me and make your dream come true, right?" The human said.

"STAY WITH US YOU BASTARD!!! I WANT TO TALK WITH YOU AGAIN!!! I LIKED BEING YOUR FRIEND!!!" General May yelled and pumped harder.

"Come Rio! You told me that you would always be here to keep me straight and narrow! I expect you to keep your promise to me!" Lazz said and proceeded with CPR.

"Rio... no...come back..." Shayde whispered.

"It's not... working..." Ben whispered and put Shayde down gently.

"Because it sounds as though you have another promise to carry out..." The human said.

"Damn it... damn it... well, you just wait! I have made you that promise and I will find a way! Maybe not anytime soon, but I have given you something special, my LIFETIME PROMISE!" Rio shouted before turning to face the door of light and walking through.

"A lifetime promise? That's absurd. You and I will most likely never meet again, Rio. It's too bad, I was beginning to grow found of you. Looks like it's back to my "lone wolf" days with master. Will no one ever truly understand me?" The human asked himself before watching Rio walk through the door of light and fading away while he himself walked away in search of his master.

"Listen, Lazz... I'm not the one who made the decision to use Fur-ex..." Kilala said.

"You weren't?" Lazz asked.

"No... it... it was... Quicksilv- AAAGGGGRRRRRHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kilala screamed.

"KILALA!!!!" Rio yelled.

"Rio, Lazz, May, Shayde, I can't allow Kilala to make any more unauthorized transmissions!" Quicksilver stated.

"Dad!?" Rio asked.

"What?" Lazz asked.

"That's right! Kilala has been removed from this operation!" Quicksilver stated.

"QUICKSILVER!!! WHAT DID SHE MEAN SHE WASN'T THE ONE TO DECIDE UPON INJECTING ME WITH FUR-EX!? LET ME TALK TO HER!!!" Lazz yelled.

"I won't! She's under arrest!" Quicksilver stated firmly.

"Quicksilver! You double crossed me!" Lazz exclaimed.

"Lazz, there's no time for that! Kilala has been acting weird from the beginning, and I even had Eubanks keep a close eye on her... she has been seen sending coded messages to BLACKFANG! I have had enough! I will not let you talk to your commanding officer like this any longer! Right now, your job is to STOP the Pseudo-Chimera Adult project! You are dismissed..." Quicksilver demanded and ended the call.

Everyone stood there and blankly stared at one another confused as to what they should do next. They all felt betrayed one way or another... and suddenly, nothing mattered to them any more... not each other, not the mission, not anything.

OPENING Scene:

Suddenly, even thought Rio was caught off guard by Ori's attack, he was still able to dodge it with barely coming in contact with the black flames. Rio wasn't all too sure about all of Ori's powers, but one thing was for sure, he couldn't allow himself to be hit by any of Ori's attacks. As Rio dodged gracefully and did a flip into the air, upon landing he noticed that Ori was already somehow where he had dodged. Ori used his speed and brute force to knee Rio in the stomach and knock the wind out of him; causing Rio to get sent skidding half way across the abyss-like place they found themselves in. Rio grunted in pain as he slowly staggered back up and groaned upon doing so, but before Rio could react, Ori was screaming at the top of his lungs, blood was spraying everywhere, Rio was confused, but stayed alert, ready for anything. Ori proceeded to stab himself in the chest and dig in his body, until he slowly pulled what seemed like the handle to some blade he had never seen before, upon pulling the blade out, Ori spoke. 'I don't like having to do this, but it will be much faster this way, Rio...'

Just as the bullets from the rail-gun could reach him, Aisu had his white knight dragon made entirely out of ice scoop him into the air. While atop his ice dragon, Aisu noticed from this height that he was near the ocean, they were fighting near the edge of the whole island, he figured he could use this to his advantage, after all, he was facing the infamous Pseudo-chimera Adult. He quickly used his wind G.O.N. to create a tornado over the water and create a massive cyclone imbued with a glowing neon light-blue swirl of icy snowflakes. 'I only have one shot, so I had better make it count.' He said to himself while waiting for the right moment to unleash his attack as the chimera let out another spine-chilling roar and aimed it's Vulcan cannon at Aisu.

'Please forgive me!' Tiger wanghu cried out loud as he ran toward Shayde and Necro with his great axe. Shayde being the master bounty hunter he was known to be, had simply blocked the attack, but upon doing so realized the strength of Tiger Wanghu's sheer might. He was strong and he was fast and it didn't help that he was quick on his feet when it came to thinking. He stayed calm and pushed against Shayde, trying to win their little struggle, but a surprise to them both reveals that Necro was now at Tiger Wanghu's six and simply reached a arm out and used his gravity G.O.N. to make Tiger Wanghu drop to the floor like a pancake, however, this Tiger wasn't going to go down that easily. Tiger wanghu quickly threw his hand axe at Necro, knowing he's take the time to deal with that distraction, and allowing him to punch Shayde in the face, sending him skidding across the battle arena where they fought. 'So you play dirty too, huh?' Shayde asked, disgusted at his cheap hit. 'It's two on one, who's playing fair here?' Tiger Wanghu snapped back.

'Grab my hand!' Tia shouted as loud as her lungs would allow her upon reaching out of the opened hatch to the massive airship, which was now taking flight and leaving the island. The speed of the airship was picking up now as the added wind only helped to prove that fact. 'Got it!' Lazz called out and was helped onboard with everyone else, except one other. The increasingly powerful mushroom explosions proceeded over and over as the island was almost now in embers and ruins. Everyone dashed to the outside deck of the airship to view the island's final moments and busted into tears as they lost a few of their friends, forever. 'NOOOOO!!!' some of them screamed, the voices echoing into the distance of what used to be, Dragon Talon Island.

CHAPTER 45: Lazz's back-up plan and the Anonymous Wanghu!

Lazz was now limping across a vast snowy field. He was upset and couldn't bring himself to understand why things were turning the way they had. He looked down to the stub of where his arm used to be and sighed deeply, knowing all to well that it was no dream. His pains and his wounds both constantly reminded him of this mission. Lazz stopped and balled up his fist, he thought about turning around to punch Rio for his crime of mocking his beliefs and bending the rules, but by now he was all alone and didn't care of he were to die in the next few seconds. However, as his endless swirl of thoughts built up inside his strong mind, he had just received a incoming call via codec.

" Yes...? Who is it?" Lazz asked sternly.

"Lazz, it's me again. It's Carl. You asked me to call you again if I finished hacking the rest of the president of Dragon's Tech, Takeshi Obata's top-secret files." Carl Kurotsuchi explained as he proceeded to hack the computers within the griffin stronghold, the light glaring off of his glasses as he smirked.

"Oh, I see. So you didn't forget about me, huh?" Lazz said as he closed his brown eyes.

• - - - - - - - - - - - (Flashback: An earlier event) - - - - - - - - - - - - -

" Even if you saw through my little ruse, how do you plan on completing this mission now? You have only your twisted father to thank for us even being here." Lazz said as he inhaled the cigarette and exhaled a puff a smoke.

" Listen, it looks like the door at the bottom of those stairs is locked. I will go find the card key to open it. You stay here, you are in no condition to be running around." Rio said.

" Who do you think your talking to? Don't forget, I am a lieutenant of squad eleven in the D.E.O." Lazz said while smoking.

" I want to help my friends. Stay here... I need to get May back. And after that, I'm going back for Necro." Rio said.

"Necro? Rio... I understand May... but don't get to close to Necro. He unlocked his own cell from the inside. Think about it! Why would he need your help if he were only pretending to be a prisoner?" Lazz asked.

" I'm leaving, stay here. I don't need your help anymore... it is you that needs mine." Rio said and grabbed all of his gear, as he walked out of the room.

" Be careful Rio, you'll never know who you will run into next..." Lazz said as he proceeded to smoke in honor of Cross Wing's death.

As Rio walked out, Lazz had noticed that Rio left behind his green vest. Lazz knew that Rio left it on purpose. Inside Rio's vest was a medical ointment that could heal small wounds and numb steady pains. Lazz walked over to the vest and slipped it on, raising a brow as the small forest-green vest fit snugly on him, though it was to be expected since Rio was smaller then him. Lazz felt weird at first, but then shrugged contently at his black jump suit and green vest combination of cloths. It was only then that Lazz got an incoming call from Carl Kurotsuchi.

"Lazz? It's me, Carl!" Carl said.

"Yeah, what is it?" Lazz asked.

"I think I can help you. There may be an override program to shut down the pseudo-chimera adult. I just need some time." Carl explained.

"How do you know this, Carl?" Lazz asked.

"I am a hacker. Let's leave it at that. I'll call you back when I have found out more." Carl said.

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (Flash forward: Dragon Talon Snow fields) _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

"Of course I remembered you. By the way, I've been meaning to ask why is it that I can't get a hold of Rio?" Carl Kurotsuchi asked.

"He's not with me right now. We got split up again... I believe he is underground right about now. That would explain why you couldn't reach him. Anyway, what did you end up finding out, Carl?" Lazz asked while looking around to make sure he was alone.

"Well, I accessed the confidential Pseudo-chimera adult's file." Carl Kurotsuchi said as he typed on his keyboard very quickly, bypassing many programs.

"Alright. So what about the PAL override system that Takeshi Obata talked about?" Lazz said and then knelled down and used his power to blend in with his surroundings and become invisible.

"I haven't found it yet." Carl Kurotsuchi said.

" That's what I need to know!" Lazz exclaimed, swaying his green tail in frustration.

" But Lazz, I found something else!" Carl Kurotsuchi said.

"What?" Lazz asked, slightly annoyed.

"The secret behind the new nuclear weapon! Just as I thought, the nuclear warhead is designed to be fired from the Pseudo-chimera adult's rail gun like a projectile... it doesn't use fuel, so it isn't considered a missile. That way it can get around all sorts of international treaties." Carl Kurotsuchi explained.

"Hmph, pretty sneaky." Lazz replied and gazed around, avoiding a few airborne griffins flying overhead.

"Yes, but effective. Oh, and that's not even the most troublesome thing about this weapon..." Carl Kurotsuchi said, pushing his glasses up with his index finger.

" *sighs* I can't wait to hear this..." Lazz rolled his eyes.

"It's a stealth weapon!" Carl Kurotsuchi explained, almost super glued to the computer screen.

"What? You mean it won't show up on radar?" Lazz asked, almost forgetting to take a breath of air.

"Yeah, that's right. The truth is... they've been working on a stealth missile since the late 70's." Carl Kurotsuchi explained.

"Why weren't they able to develop one up until now?" Lazz asked, still stunned by the news.

"Because of the missile's rocket propulsion system... it will be picked up by enemy satellites. But unlike a missile, the rail gun doesn't burn up any propellant. So it can't be detected by any current ballistic missile detection systems." Carl Kurotsuchi explained and resisted the urge to smile at the clever idea.

"An invisible nuclear warhead..." Lazz whispered.

"Completely impossible to intercept. And on top of that, it's got a surface-piercing warhead designed to penetrate hardened underground bases. This thing could mean the end of the world!" Carl Kurotsuchi explained.

"It's the ultimate nuclear weapon! And from a political point of view, it avoids the problem of nuclear reduction and nuclear inspections. Grrr... Quicksilver! I know you are listening to this!" Lazz growled.

"... I'm listening..." Quicksilver said hesitantly, still shocked that Lazz noticed him ease dropping in on the codec call.

"If word of this got out... it could delay the signing of the start 3 Treaty and cause a huge international incident." Lazz said and then gritted his sharp teeth.

"Yeah, Lazz is right. Things will get pretty nasty. The United States would be denounced by the U.N... it could even bring down the president... "Carl Kurotsuchi added.

"Hmph, did you know this Quicksilver!?" Lazz asked in shock.

"... I'm sorry..." Quicksilver whispered.

"You've changed, Quicksilver... " Lazz said.

" I won't make any excuses..." Quicksilver said.

"Lazz, listen to me! This new nuclear weapon... it's never actually been tested, only simulated." Carl Kurotsuchi explained.

" You mean they ran a computer model?" Lazz asked.

"Yeah, that's why they were conducting this exercise. They needed to get actual experimental data to back up the simulation." Carl Kurotsuchi explained.

"What were the results of the exercise?" Lazz asked.

"It looks like it went better then they hoped for, but... I can't find the data anywhere on this network. You'd think that data as important as that would be carefully recorded..." Carl Kurotsuchi said.

"It was. President Takeshi Obata gave May an optical disk with all of the test data." Lazz said.

"What?! Dose she still have it?" Quicksilver asked in amazement, almost dropping his mug of warm coffee.

"I was able to get it from her. She said that it would be safer with me. Now that I am thinking back, I am glad I decided to leave it with May up until now. Had I gotten it from her last we met, my arm wouldn't have been the only thing Wild Horn would have taken." Lazz said.

"Damn..." Quicksilver said.

"The terrorists have replaced the dummy warhead with a real one. Once they input the denotation codes, they should be ready to launch." Carl Kurotsuchi explained.

"So you think they can actually do it, Carl?" Lazz asked.

" Well, the dummy warhead was designed to be identical to the real thing, so I think so." Carl Kurotsuchi explained.

"Have you found out how to override it yet?" Lazz asked.

"Not yet. It must be in a separate file somewhere. Right now, I'm looking through all of my boss's personal files." Carl Kurotsuchi said and then proceeded to hack into the system's files.

"Okay, I'm counting on you, Carl." Lazz said before ending the call and standing up.

Lazz couldn't help himself, the countless thoughts building up in his mind was enough to tear him apart mentally. He dug his talons into the deep cold snow and tightened his only fist. His mission was now in Carl's hands. However, that was not all, Lazz also grieved over his earlier argument and could not bring himself to be satisfied how things turned out. He placed his paw on his muzzle where Rio had punched him and closed his eyes.

======================= (Meanwhile) ============================

Rio and Shayde were walking carefully an in underground passageway. It was dark and a little damp because of the cold snow and almost storm-for-storm weather up above on the surface. Shadye didn't know what to say as everyone of their respective footsteps echoed through out the tunnel. He wanted to cheer up Rio somehow because of the argument he got into with Lazz, but he knew it wasn't his place and he didn't want to end up making things much worse. Shadye figured the thought of trying to help would be better noticed then actually making anything worse, hopefully, but just as he was about to say anything...

"AAAAHHHHHH!!!! That damn Lazz makes me so mad! I mean I can't even begin to ask myself when the last time I was this mad was!! Rules this and rules that! And his oh so much more important then you mission!!!" Rio shouted as he was pretty much power walking at this point in rage.

"Rio... err... maybe we should think about toning it down. W-we could be heard by the terrorists..." Shayde whispered shyly, following suit.

"WHAT!? I don't get it first that damn human wants to pick a fight with me. His, "I don't need any friends!" and then Lazz and his, "Mission comes first, that's all that matters!" and now you want to remind me of the stupid ass terrorist that we've chopped in half! Their team of wonky characters stand no chance against us, hell what are the chances of any of them being nearby?!" Rio shouted, now annoyed.

"Uhh... just to also remind you, they are all smarter then us... I.Q's of over 180 remember?" Shayde stated.

"I know, I know, I know, I know!!!" Rio shouted and began to roughly shake Shayde back and forth from the shoulders.

"Gahh!" Shayde shouted with a squinted face. >.<

Just then, Rio and Shayde heard some fighting and looked over then next wall of rocks to find an underground battle arena, but what shocked them the most was who was fighting. They remained quite and watched intently in the shadows.

"Hmm? Two opponents? You're too kind, Wanghu..." Necro said as he entered the massive battle arena.

"Hmph. It's that kind of attitude that's going to get you killed." Tiger Wanghu said as he sat down on a bench, deep in thought.

"I wouldn't call this an "attitude", more like "Laid-back appreciation". By pitting me up against two opponents, when you'd normally only pit me against one, you've come to acknowledge my power." Necro said sarcastically and faced his foes.

"What ever you say, "hero"." Tiger Wanghu replied back slightly annoyed.

"Tch, at least I tried, "friend"." Necro said, walking off into the fray.

Necro's two foes, a turtle and a hare, each one adorned in battle armor, now rushed forward. The rabbit being the faster out of the two, reached Necro first and encased his fist within a violet translucent force field, just small enough to enclose his fist and aim his lightning fast punch for Necro's mid-section. Necro quickly jumped overhead, aiming his dessert eagle down at him. He dodged the rabbit's force field attack, but then noticed a new force field that formed from the rabbit's six, protecting him from the bullets. Suddenly, the turtle pointed one finger and formed a blue spark of laser and fired it at the airborne Necro. Necro used his gravity G.O.N. and formed a black vortex within his palm to pull in the laser before shutting the vortex close and upon landing tripping the rabbit.

"Force fields and laser emission powers, huh?" Necro said.

"Hey, you stupid rabbit! Don't you know how the old story goes? The Turtle verses the hare. The turtle won, slow and steady wins the race!" The turtle shouted.

"Tch, this is no "race", it's a battle!" The rabbit shouted back.

At that moment, the turtle spun himself around in his shell and tucked himself in as he lashed forward for a powerful shell tackle aimed right for Necro. Necro side-stepped, allowing the shell to hit the rabbit. Only, it never did. The rabbit used his force field GON and repelled the shell back to Necro, making a direct hit. Necro skidded across the battle arena on his back, leaving a dust trail behind in his wake.

"Alright! Our teamwork is killer!" The hare shouted.

"So it seems, I can feel our skills improving!" The turtle said.

"Hmph." Necro muttered as he staggered up.

Necro then dashed for the rabbit and then clashed his elbow spike with the rabbit's force field blade. As they struggled, the turtle came from behind and hoped to tackle the corsac fox, but Necro lashed out a sudden back kick aimed for his mid-section and sending him skidding backward. Then Necro overpowered the hare and pushed him back. Both foes skidded backward, reaching out some kind of yellow chain of energy, each wrapped around a limb of Necro's. Then the turtle and the hare released the energy within the chain and force it to explode upon Necro powerfully. The heavy gusts of wind rushed past Tiger Wanghu, swaying his fur and cloths in every direction.

"Necro..." Rio whispered, watching his performance.

"..." Shayde remained silent, tightening his paw into a fist in sheer rage.

Necro stood up in pain, now bruised and a portion of his trench coat torn in a few places. Necro reached one paw out and used his gravity GON to pull the turtle toward him. It wasn't that Necro was letting his guard down; it was that he had never faced opponents at once before. It only added to the fact that they used semi-good teamwork and trickery. For this, Necro was annoyed and pulled the turtle toward him hoping to end the fight right there, however, the hare, with his lightning speed, jumped in the way from seemingly across the battle arena, making Rio rub his chin to the amateur speedy display. The hare grabbed the turtle and encased him in a box of a force field with only one small opening in it. The hare swung the box-like force field into Necro and as it was about to hit Necro, the turtle pointed his finger through the small opening and shot a powerful blue laser beam at point black. Just then a huge explosion erupted, sending more shockwaves and wind everywhere.

"It ends now!" Necro shouted through the smoke.

As the smoke cleared, the corsac fox known as Necro could be seen holding onto the small opening. He grabbed onto it and began to rip it open with his brute strength alone. His quintessence seemingly skyrocketed just then as it shattered into pieces. The turtle jumped back and charged up his remaining quintessence for his laser emission GON and engulfed himself in a blue aura before shooting an enormous blue laser beam. It surged with electricity as it shot forward Necro. Necro held out both paws and used gravity, but the hare was too quick for him. The rabbit restrained Necro, but he was not strong enough to hold Necro back and thusly, Necro shoved away as best he could, the laser still incoming, and reached out with one paw to use gravity. He was able to exert more quintessence into one paw instead of using two paws to lift a giant portion of the ground to block the laser beam. However, it merely only reduced the beams power in half as it still headed for them. Necro then overpowered the hare and forced him in front of himself and the beam. The hare knew if he didn't use his force field the beam as it were would do some damage, but the rabbit was a risk taker. He knew Necro'd overpower him in terms of strength, yet clearly he dashed in headfirst every time. He was simply not afraid. The rabbit chose not to use his force field and let the beam hit them both dead on. Seemingly before the beam actually hit, a massively powerful explosion occurred. Sending the strongest shockwaves and mini-tremors shaking the whole underground cavern. Debri and smoke filled the air.

"Got ya..." The turtle said weakly as he kneeled down onto one knee.

"Ugh...damn you..." Necro said as he staggered back up again. This time his cloths were even more torn up.

"..." The rabbit however was KO'ed, as he mainly took the full on brunt of the attack, saving Necro from most of it, but not all.

"N-no way?! And still you stand?!" The turtle said weakly.

"Seems that took allot out of you..." Necro said as he began to close the distance between them by walking toward him.

"Whoa... Necro sure is strong, huh Shayde?" Rio asked, then after getting no answer, the red dragon looked back and much to his surprise, Shayde was gone.

"AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Shayde yelled from the top of his lungs as he came crashing down from above Tiger Wanghu with everything he had.

"W-what the hell?!" Tiger Wanghu shouted before getting crashed into with a seemingly powerful attack from Shayde.

"Hm?" Necro said and halted.

"Shayde!" Rio yelled, running out onto the field.

"Rio?!" Necro said in shock, now more confused then ever.

"Uhh... hey Necro." Rio said nervously. ^.=.^ '
