Chapter 9 - Date with the Fluffy Dragon

It was now February 14th, Valentine's Day as well as the day after the Kitt partook in his bloody mission so after he came home, he rested, only to wake up to drink and eat chocolate all day without going to work.

"Master, are you sure you want to keep drinking? You've been drinking all morning and I've learnt that alcohol is very bad when you drink too much of it!"

"Ugh... shut up, Nova... I'm fine..."

Kitt was absolutely wasted on the kitchen counter after drinking multiple shots of whiskey while white chocolate had stained his face. Kitt was doing it to himself so Nova could only worriedly watch as his master opened the next bottle. Just as Kitt was about to take another shot, a knock came from a door which Nova quickly answered in his disguised form.

"Who's there?"

"Oh, hello there! Is this Kitt's house by any chance?"

The person that had knocked on the war was actually Claire who was for some reason looking for Kitt.

"Claire! It's me, Nova!"

"Huh? How do you know my name? And Nova isn't an orange cat!"

Nova quickly dropped his disguise in front of Claire to prove that it really was him.

"Oh! It really is you!"

Kitt then noticed the two conversing at the door and drunkenly got down from the kitchen's tall chair to see what was happening.

"Hic... Nova, who are talking to... hic..."

Seeing his master slowly walk towards the door to informally meet Claire, Nova quickly shut the door to not embarrass Kitt who was drunk.

"Master! Claire is outside and wants to see you!"

"Who... hic..."

"Claire, the dragon we worked with yesterday, she's outside right now!"

"What? I don't care..."

"Master, you have to talk to her!"

Kitt ignores Nova's concern and walks back to the kitchen to drink again but Nova didn't allow him to and brought him back to his side.

"Nova... let me drink, damn it..."

"No, you have to talk to her!"

Nova then kissed Kitt and fed him his slime but the slime was not provocative and instead cured him of his drunkenness and restored his state of mind.

"Glug... glug..." "Mmmm, master, please think properly, we can't let Claire see you like this!"

But Claire was already peeking into the house through the windows and saw everything that went down but didn't think much of it.

"Ah... Huh? Claire? Where?"

"Outside!"

"Huh? What's she doing here?"

Kitt quickly hid the bottles of whisky and shot glass and wiped the chocolate off of his face.

"Well uh... let her in!"

Nova quickly opened the door to let their guest in.

"Um...hello, Claire! I'm sorry for not answering the door because I was doing... something..."

"Yeah, I saw you were drunk with a lot of shot glasses on the counter but as soon as Nova kissed you, you started to think straight again."

"Hey, you weren't supposed to see that!"

"Haha, don't worry, it's fine, I get drunk too when I'm bored."

Kitt gives a sigh of relief hearing that Claire didn't really care about what he was doing on Valentine's Day.

"So, why are you here?"

"Well I... I wanted to ask you out..."

Kitt's cheeks immediately blushed as soon as Claire said her reason for coming.

"Whaaaat? You want to take master out on a date?"

"It's fine if he says no, It's not like it'll mean anything."

Nova was also surprised with Claire's sudden invitation to go out with Kitt.

"Well um... sure, I'll be your valentine!"

Kitt quickly ran upstairs to change into more appropriate clothes.

"So Claire, where do you plan to go out with master? How did you even find out where he lived?"

"I shamelessly asked Mina for information on where he lived and any good spots to go out with him."

"And why ask out master out of all people?"

"Well... I don't know why, but I kind of fell in love with him when I saw him wearing a maid dress."

"Are you planning to live with him in the future?"

"What? No, I just... want to know him better!"

Kitt finally comes down in better clothing, ready to go out with Claire.

"I'm ready!"

"There's a taxi waiting for us outside so let's go."

The two left the house but before they did, Kitt ordered Nova to stay at the house so as to not be awkwardly following the two.

"Alright, master, and please don't forget to use your phone to call me if you ever need help!"

The two then got in the taxi which was driven by a very familiar tiger but Kitt did not seem to notice. Back at the house, Kitt called Mina to ask why Claire had suddenly asked Kitt out.

"Mina, there's something I want to ask you about Claire."

"Hmm? What is it? Did she actually ask out Kitt today?"

"Yeah, and you helped her, why is that?"

"Well, I was thinking back to when Kitt got rejected by Mika and felt sorry for him so when Claire asked me if she could date him, I reluctantly said yes and helped her with all the things she needed to do."

"But I thought different species couldn't mate?"

"Even if Kitt wouldn't be able to have kids, then the least I could do is finally help him get a girlfriend."

Meanwhile in the taxi, the two try to make some small talk to get to know each other.

"So where's Ren right now?"

"He's here with me."

Claire points at the pretty yellow and red dress that she was wearing.

"Huh? I thought Ren was a suit of armor?"

Kitt then touched the dress and was immediately surprised by Ren's voice.

"Oh, it really is! How is this possible?"

"Sola did me a favor and transmuted Ren into a dress for me to wear. She's been really helpful around the base, fixing and upgrading other beast's guns, training new recruits safely, and just being a helping hand to anyone in need."

"Wow, I didn't realize how hardworking Sola was. And your wings, I thought they stayed on your back even though Ren stopped giving you his power?"

"Sola also helped me with that by painlessly breaking down my wings and taking them into her body. After she did, she also grew wings, but quickly retracted them as they got in the way of everyone."

Even though the two were loudly talking about possibly secret information, the taxi driver did not question them at all as if he was either listening to them attentively or knew exactly what they were talking about. After a while, they finally reach their first destination which was the mall where Claire planned to shop with Kitt.

"The mall?"

"Yep! Come on, let's go shopping together!"

Claire then excitedly pulled Kitt out of the taxi and into the mall, rushing up the escalator and into the clothing section where they could try out new fancy clothes.

"Hold on. I'll pick out something for us!"

Claire then runs off to another part of the clothing aisle, leaving Kitt at the changing room along with her bag. And while he was alone, Kitt began to think about all the reasons why Claire would have asked her out.

"Why did she ask me out? Did I really look good in her eyes? Did she think I was cool with Nova? Or did Nova force her to date me? No, her eyes didn't have a hint of pink. Could Mina have given her the love potion and made me and her drink it secretly? Well if she did, I should have noticed by now since it strongly affects my thoughts."

The more that Kitt thought about Claire's reasons for asking him out, the more the flame in his heart started to burn. Claire eventually came back with a bunch of clothes to try on and dragged Kitt into one of the dressing rooms.

"Hey! We shouldn't be in here together?"

"Don't worry! It's not like nobody's gonna see us anyways."

Claire then took off her dress with Ren's ghostly energy forming his astral body from the ground up.

"Oh right! Ren, can you go outside for a moment?"

"Oh, sure!"

Ren knew full well about the privacy of Claire and Kitt as he had been a tailor who had seen a lot of his clients half naked before, so he went outside and dispelled his body with the pretty dress sitting laying on of the chairs outside. After Ren had left, Claire continued to strip, all the way down to her underwear and bra while Kitt was still inside.

"What's wrong? Try on these clothes with me!"

She then began to unbutton Kitt's jacket and pants but could not stop her as he was practically frozen from love.

"Kitt, are you okay?"

"Oh, yeah I'm good. Are you really okay with me seeing you in your underwear?"

"Please, I saw you completely naked on our mission yesterday. Do we really have anything to hide?"

Claire picks out a black short skirt to try on while Kitt wears a brown jumper with a white shirt.

"Do I look good?"

"Yup!"

She then switched to a blue turtleneck with long wide jeans which Kitt also approved.

"Now, you should wear this one!"

Claire jokingly presented Kitt with a pink skirt along with striped hand warmers and thigh high socks.

"What? No way!"

"I'm kidding! But it would be funny to see you wearing these."

"It would not."

After folding the clothes back into places, Claire picked out two sets of outfits to buy while Kitt only picked one.

"Oh! Can you get Ren for me outside? He can't exactly come back in here since he's probably out of magic to get up again."

After dressing up with his original clothes, Kitt grabbed Ren outside but was immediately met by a question of his.

"So, Kitt, what do you think of Claire? She has a perfect body, doesn't she?"

"What? I don't want to look at her that way!"

"Ah, my apologies."

Ren went silent with Kitt quickly handing him to Claire. After choosing which clothes to buy, the two returned the other clothes to their respective aisles and went to check out.

"800$? This will hurt..."

"Don't worry, Claire, I'll pay for us!"

"Really?"

"I'll treat you until the day ends! Besides, Mina has been really generous with me lately and even renovated a bit of my house!"

Kitt then paid their shopping bill but failed to notice that the one who checked them out was a green cat with a familiar face.

"So, where do you want to go next?"

"I was thinking we should go to the pier next! I saw that there was a carnival in town and I wanted to check it out!"

"Really? I didn't even know that!"

The two then leave the mall to take another taxi to the pier of their city which was quite a bit away from the main square so they had a bit of time to talk with each other.

"So... since you were the first to ask me out, what kind of men do you like?"

"Huh? Isn't it already obvious? I like guys like you! You'll just have to find out what made me like you!"

"Okay, I'll just ask a different question. Where do you even live? You couldn't have been born working already."

"Actually, I live on the same continent as you!"

"Really? In these thousand islands?"

"Yep! But I was from a tribe in the mountains that had trouble integrating with modern life, but I managed to pull through. I always send my salary to my parents and people so that they could send the children of our tribe to schools so they too could get an education and live a better life while I just so happened to be very interested in magic that I was recruited by Mina's agency."

"What tribe?"

"Now don't be so hasty now, you haven't even told me your life story yet!"

"Oh well my life was fortunately simpler than your hard upbringing. You know, like growing up as a regular kid with a regular life and a regular school life. But as soon as I turned 18, I began to see my sister less often due to her work, but she still talked to me on holidays. My mom and dad of course couldn't let them live with me forever so I got a job like everyone else. I only knew what Mina's real job was until quite recently so I hated her for ghosting my family but now that I did know what her job was, all doubt I had on her was immediately cleared."

"I haven't told my mother or father what my real job was. I only told them that I worked for the military to keep them supported so it was a good thing they never asked further. If they ever found out what I really do, I wouldn't know how they would react."

"To be honest, I haven't even told my friends about Nova or Mina's secret job. Maybe I could tell Will some time when we have another trip together."

The taxi finally arrives at the pier and Kitt pays their fare to a familiar brown wolf, but again, he didn't think much of it. After they had left, the brown wolf drove off and pulled over at an empty road to talk to someone.

"Mina, the two are on the pier now like you asked."

"Good work, Will. I'm surprised you actually helped us on this and weren't surprised when I told you that magic exists."

"Oh, about that, I managed to remember a hazy memory of Kitt's roommate turning into this weird creature and sucking me off. Best night I had in my life to be honest."

"That must have been Nova."

"Who?"

"Nevermind, your payment has been sent. You can go home now and I hope you'll still be friends with Kitt after learning all of this."

"Of course I will! I know that Kitt would hide the most embarrassing things from me, but I still treat him as a friend!"

Back at the pier, the two have entered the carnival to check out the rides and play some games.

"Ooh! Look at that one! That stall over there has a huge dragon plushie, let's try and win it!"

Claire quickly dragged Kitt to the stall in the distance where you have to knock over a pyramid of bottles to win.

"A ball pitching game? This should be pretty easy."

Kitt pays a few bucks to play and manages to knock every single pyramid down even though he knew for certain that at least three balls should have nicked the top instead, as if something was guiding his shots directly at the weak point to win instantly.

"Wow, we won!"

The owner of the stall was also pretty confused about Kitt's perfect win, but still gave them the grand prize.

"How did I even do that..."

"Doesn't matter, we got the plushie!"

Claire happily carries the toy around while they look for something to eat.

"Claire, have you tried bubble waffles? They're basically pancakes in the shape of bubble wraps and hollow on the inside so you can put chocolate or strawberry for flavor inside."

"I have! I really enjoyed them when I first tried them out in a store somewhere closer to where I live."

Kitt then orders some for themselves, his being a plain having no fillings but with sugar and chocolate powder while Claire was stuffed with strawberry and had a scoop of ice cream on the top.

"Mmm! Oops, got a bit of ice cream on my face."

Kitt then wipes it away with his handkerchief like a gentleman.

"Thanks!"

Claire then kisses Kitt as a reward for his simple gesture. After eating their food, they move on further into the pier, eventually reaching a giant ferris wheel which they both excitedly ride.

"Wow, the sea and sky is so beautiful in the afternoon."

While the two admired the sun set, Claire gradually creeped her hand to Kitt's, as if inviting him to do something to her.

"I'm sorry, am I taking up too much space?"

"Oh, I didn't mean it that way..."

Seeing that the ferris wheel was about to reach its peak, Claire would not pass up the opportunity to finally confess her love to Kitt.

"Kitt, I.."

"I think I like you too!"

Kitt then grabbed both of her hands, clasping their paws together and began to look at each other's eyes with intimacy.

"So... will you be my valentine?"

"Yes!"

Usually the guy would be the one to lean in for the kiss, but Claire was the one to do so, grabbing onto Kitt's cheeks and giving him a wonderful kiss. The two beasts redden in love as they kiss one another until the sun setted and the ferris wheel finishes its last rotation.

"Don't tell anyone what happened, okay?"

"Alright."

As soon as they got off, the two noticed another familiar face whom they approached.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I mistook you by any chance but you look a lot like one of my friends."

Kitt approached the familiar looking orange cat and as they turned around to meet him, Kitt was instantly shocked when he saw who it was. "

Mika?"

"Kitt? What are you doing here? And who's that with you?"

"What are you also doing here?"

"Well why would I not be here? The carnival is in town, so I obviously came to check it out."

Mika, Kitt's coworker who he confessed his love to, but was rejected, was also there at the carnival to go stroll around and play the games there.

"So, who's that dragon with you? I'm sorry for rejecting you but I'm glad you've moved on and found someone else to be with."

"Mika, this is Claire, she's a... a friend from far away that I was lucky to meet again."

It was kind of awkward for Kitt to be seeing Mika after she had rejected him, so they quickly said their goodbyes and left the carnival.

"Who was that?"

"She's one of my coworkers who I asked out but she rejected me and I thought I could never love again."

"Well have you truly moved on from that?"

"I guess so... Drinking can do wonders to forget your troubles."

As the night had set in, the two slowly walked the streets while enjoying the night sky and the cold sea breeze.

"Well I guess that's it. I hope I can work or spend some time with you again."

"So, do you want to be just friends?"

"We'll be friends until you're ready to be closer."

Kitt then pulls a taxi over for Claire so that she could finally go home.

"You aren't gonna come with me?"

"No, I think I'll enjoy the sea some more. Safe travels, Claire."

Kitt closes the door for her and as the taxi leaves, he couldn't help but feel alone again until he felt someone wrap their hands around his shoulder.

"Huh? Who's there?"

The feeling then disappeared and reappeared in his waist, scaring him even further.

"What the-"

Kitt was then lifted up with great care with the perpetrator finally showing themself.

"Hello master!"

"Nova! You scared me for a second there! I thought I told you to stay at home?"

Nova had been following Kitt all day long to see what the two were doing and was also the one that made Kitt's throws hit the targets perfectly back at the carnival.

"Okay, can you put me down now? You don't have to carry me around."

"I do have to carry you around!" Nova's slime suddenly enveloped Kitt, forming a thin slime suit that made him invisible so that they could fly back home with ease.

"Woah! Not too fast!!!"

Nova quickly flew back to their house with Kitt in his hands where he finally placed him down and took back his slime.

"So, master! Did you really fall in love with Claire?"

"I think I did... but she said we're still only friends."

"Then next time you meet her, try to win her heart completely!"

"I don't know about that... I think I just got lucky today."

The two returned to their house with Kitt changing back to his house clothes while Nova waited at the bed for them to sleep together. Kitt went downstairs to get his bottle of whisky to continue drinking but after thinking about what had happened today with Claire, he only took his chocolate and went to bed.
