Chapter Ten

"Bear Necessities"

By

Furry Sith Lord

Bear entered his apartment and opened the dress shirt he was wearing. He had just finished his third interview today and he was exhausted with having to answer questions about how his life had changed since the trial.

It had been unbearably warm today so the long sleeves of his shirt did not help matters. He was relieved that he took it off and cranked up the air conditioning. He felt even better as he let out a deep sigh now that he could rest up.

His popularity had skyrocketed since he won the trial by proving his innocence. It was touch and go for a while but his lawyers had built up a clever case. Once Mellody had given her testimony his lawyers subtly poked holes allowing them to ask further questions then she was trapped and it was proven the whole thing was a lie.

He took off his pants and threw them aside angrily as he thought about how Soda Coke begged him to be their sponsor again. The nerve of them after how they said those mean terrible things about him. He scratched his butt through his white briefs and his fur bristled as he felt the cold of the ACs touch his skin.

Rapist! Degenerate, and Pervert were all names that they and many others called him. Mellody had lied and said he's raped her but everyone was quick to blame him. Not even bothering to get his side of the story they just passed judgment that made them look like a bunch of idiots.

He grabbed a couple of bags of ice and tossed them into his large, about the size of a swimming pool bathtub. He had kept a list of everything that was said so that he could publicly denounce those same species when they tried to act like his friends.

He was about to pull down his briefs and step out of them when there was a sudden knock at his door. Startled, he frantically looked around to where he had thrown his clothing then sighed as he decided he refused to get dressed again in the sweaty clothes he had just taken off.

He stomped his feet as he walked to the door and growled when they knocked a second time.

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" He shouted. He no longer cared if they saw him in only his underpants. They had annoyed him and he was too tired to care about how it looked.

"What?!" He roared as he swiftly swung open the door. A red deer wearing a business suit stood there and stared at his attire and raised an eyebrow as he tried to compose himself. He had a white lion teenager next to him wearing a football jersey and blue jeans.

"Oh, sorry," Bear replied as he felt his face flush. "I thought you were the paparazzi."

"I see," Lou said as he used his hoof to push his way past Bear. He had to use no force at all as he easily brushed the near naked polar bear aside. The lion was looking at his feet as he followed the deer inside.

"Wait a minute I know you." Bear said as he suddenly recognized Lou. The collar he wore, which was a disguised slave collar, was trying to force Bear to respect Lou because Lou was in secret his master. Bear fought for control as he focussed on the nervous teen lion and in his mind he thought he might have scared the boy.

"I'm sorry little guy, I promise I won't hurt you. I didn't mean to yell." Bear told Lyon as he lowered his voice.

"He's not scared of you. Long story short he got loud with me and is sulking because I punished him." Lou said as he eyed Lyon. Lyon could sense his father was watching him but he continued to stare at his feet as he tried to keep control of his anger. Lyon could finally understand why his brother Tyger gets into so many fights with their father.

Lou watched as he saw Lyon squeeze his paws into fists but he remained silent. This made Lou sigh and he pulled his son reluctantly close to him. Lyon did not try to fight it but he was clearly upset.

Bear knelt down and put his paw on Lyon's shoulder making him move away from his father. He leaned in close to whisper.

"Parents suck sometimes. They never understand, am I right?" Bear whispered and Lyon still remained silent but he nodded. "Wanna tell me about it?" Lyon shook his head.

"Unfortunately I'm not his dad. He has a way of making things better and I'm not skilled enough to use Tickles as Weapons to make everything better." Lou said and Lyon chuckled softly drawing their attention to him. He then became silent again and Bear groaned as he stood up.

"So how can I help you Mr?" Bear asked.

"Lou Cervus-D, You won't remember but I am your master." Lou said and he stepped forward and unlocked the slave collar that Bear wore. Lou quickly jumped back and pushed Lyon behind him to protect his son in case Bear decided to attack them. They stood waiting and watching as Bear just stood there with his eyes closed.

The collar fell to the floor with a soft thud as the smile Bear had worn was slowly fading as his memories returned. The panic was building and Lou was ready to send Lyon running when at last Bear spoke with his eyes still closed.

"Why did you do that?" Bear asked softly. His voice carried a touch of sorrow to it. His closed eyes moved as if he were dreaming or reliving parts of his past. Lou relaxed slightly but still pushed Lyon away from then just in case.

"I've been the happiest that I've ever been in my entire life. Everything I ever did and everyone that I ever hurt or killed... just never happened. I was finally free from the past. Then you removed my collar and everything has come back to torment me. Tell me why." Bear said and he finally opened his eyes. He saw Lyon being shielded by his father and tears began to form.

"We need your help. I mean the real you, not the one I created. I know you never wanted to be a slave and I didn't. I gave you a life, a new one, a happy one. I'll turn you back to the way you were if you'll only help me." Lou explained. Lyon reached out and grabbed his father's hoof.

"How can I possibly help you?" Bear asked.

"Do you remember a white wolf named BH?" Lou asked.

"Bloodhound? Yes he was one of my... problem children you might call it. What has he done?" Bear asked and Lou began the lengthy explanation of what had happened. Bear gestured towards some chairs and they sat opposite each other as Lou finished the story.

Bear had interrupted him only once to send Lyon off into another room to watch television. The more Bear heard the less he wanted someone still as young as Lyon to hear. Lou remained silent as Bear dismissed Lyon. It gave him the opportunity to see what the old Bear was like and his dismissal of Lyton showed his favorance of rare white furs.

"...I'm dismayed that my son has caused this much trouble." Bear replied finally as Lou finished.

"Your son?"

"I call all the ones I help, my children. Your son was once going through my training,"

"You mean your indoctrination." Lou interrupted.

"And, he would have been one of my sons too. I am pleased you were able to do what I failed to do and get them welcomed back into society." Bear said.

Your 'community' I believed you called it still exists. It has become The Diamond City. Rare White Fur Species as well as many other species live there and have come together to live peacefully. As a matter of fact Sanic is the mayor and he is well loved by his constituents." Lou explained.

"I would like to visit there before you enslave me again." Bear replied.

"What makes you think that I'll do that?"

"Because I don't want to live knowing what I've done in the past." Bear answered.

"When I first enslaved you; you said you could never live as a slave. I think you mentioned wanting to die or something at the time. Look at you now! You adapted and changed and that's something you can still do. You were once Bear of C.I.Z.A. then you became Bear the actor. I'm sure you can be anything with or without the collar, just give it some time." Lou said and Bear stared at him emotionless.

"If you expect me to help you then I expect some sort of payment for all my troubles. You don't have to remove all my memories but remove the harm I did to white furs so I can sleep better like I did when I was your slave." Lou reached up and tugged on the slave collar he was wearing. Bear hadn't noticed it with the suit Lou wore and it did a good job of hiding it.

"This was placed on me by my son Tyger," Lou began and Bear chuckled at hearing the name.

"The one that used to torment me by breaking my air conditioners." Bear interrupted.

"The same. He was under my orders so it's not like he was trying to hurt you." Lou replied weakly.

"I remember watching him and seeing his face. I'm not mad I never was but what has he to do with all this?"

"Another old adversary has been called in to help. He did not trust me anymore than you do. We had him place this on me so I could not break my vows. If you agree to help I'll take you to my son so he can seal my promise into the collar and I won't be able to break it." Lou said.

"Do you love your sons?"

"Yes absolutely!" Lou replied.

"Then swear to me on the lives of your sons and I will KNOW you will not break your word." Bear stated. Lou leaned back and looked in the other room as Lyon was busy watching a sports game on the television. Determination filled his eyes and he turned to face Bear.

"I swear to you, on my children, that if you help me save the humans then I will put the collar back on your neck and remove whatever memories you see fit.... Deal?" Lou asked as he stuck out his hoof and Bear did not even hesitate to grasp the hoof and shake it.

"So, how can I help?" Bear asked as he sat back after releasing Lou's hoof.

"BH has demanded that you be given over to him. I'm not sure exactly what he wants but at the same time C.I.Z.A. and the FDI wants me to turn you over to them so that they can use you as bait to trap BH. C.I.Z.A. also wants Merrik, so I've given him and my husband to them to keep them distracted while I turn you over to BH.

I don't believe that BH will trust you right away. I need you to play along with his goals to earn his trust. This is why I'm sending you in with nothing but the clothes on your back... provided you actually put some on." Lou explained and he smirked as Bear blushed slightly as he looked at his briefs and crossed his legs.

"I seent a mole inside to report on what the humans are doing," Lyon growled slightly from the other room. Lou guessed he heard him and was still upset over him sending in Dash. Bear ignored it, figuring the lad was upset at the game he was watching.

"He's a young rabbit but a boy about my son's age. He was fitted with a special slave collar that records everything he hears and sees. He needs to act like the other pets in order to get close and learn their secrets so it took away his ability to talk. My other son, Tyger, reported that a friend of BH has taken in Dash as his own pet. He's not like the others and has been very kind to Dash." Lou explained.

"Dash is the name of the bunny?" Bear asked.

"RABBIT!!!!!" Lyon yelled loudly and both Lou and Bear looked at him as he continued to watch the television.

"Forgive my son, he has exceptional feline ears and I often forget that."

"Lyon!" Bear shouted and Lyon reluctantly rose and returned to join them. "Dash is your best friend, Correct?"

"Yes sir," Lyon said as he was looking at his feet again.

"If I promise to make Dash my personal assistant so that he can get close to BH and hear everything that we say or do, will you make a deal with me?" Bear asked him gently.

"What kind of deal?" Lyon asked.

"You forgive your father and I swear by my own name," Lou whistled here because he was giving the strongest oath known to species by saying that. "That Dash will not only be fully protected but he will be the hero of our adventure... Deal?" Bear asked as he held out his paw. Lyon had to wipe tears from his eyes and he reached out to shake paws.

"Deal," He replied and as soon as they released their paws, Lyon jumped on his father and hugged him. Lou rocked him in his arms with his head nuzzled against Lyon

"Bear, I too swear by my own name that the oath I have given you I will not break or try any loopholes to get around but that I will place the collar on you and let you tell me which memories you want to keep and which to make you forget."

"Thank you," Bear replied. "How soon before I go in?"

"I'll give you a couple of days to set your life in order so things don't get ruined. BH is probably expecting a large public display of the government giving into his demands. That will never happen by both them and us. I want you to walk in there nonchalantly and find him to see what he does. From there you can use Dash to send me messages and reports.

What we need is for the humans to stand down and release all their captives. If you can help me bring this about then it will save a lot of lives. The army is surrounding the place and they could attack at any moment. I'm not sure how long their patients will last."

"BH has a habit of not thinking the whole thing through when he does stuff. I can help guide him but you'll need a way to send me messages." Bear said.

"Dash can't talk because I was afraid he might say the wrong thing at the wrong time but he has an ear piece that lets him hear my son Tyger talking to him. He can write down any message for you and that's how we'll communicate." Lou explained.

"Very good. Pick me up here in two days while I plan a long overdue vacation, understand?" Bear asked, hinting at the obvious.

"Understood," Lou replied and Lyon jumped off him as they made their way to leave.

Lou climbed into his jeep and he looked over at Lyon to make sure he put his seatbelt on. Once they were ready he started it up and they drove off.

"You did an amazing job. I didn't know you were that good an actor." Lou said.

"I dunno, I just watched Tyger and picked up a few things. Are you sure he didn't know I was acting?" Lyon asked.

"Are you kittying me? Lyon you were so brilliant that even I could not tell that you forgave me.... you did forgive me? Right?" Lou asked.

"Yeah. Tyger kinda explained it to me. It made sense that you need Dash in order to protect the humans. I don't like it but I do understand." Lyon replied.

"Good. I need a big favor from you and you're the only one I can trust." Lou said and Lyon turned ro look at him questioningly. "I'm going to be busy with Bear and your brother is busy looking after Dash. Your dad and Merrik are out on their missions so I need someone to look after things for me.

Someone I can put in charge to keep the day to day stuff running normally. It's a big responsibility but I believe you are up to it? So what do you say? Can I leave you in charge?" Lou asked as Lyon's face lit up.

"Can I?!" he said definitively. Lou reached out and pulled his son close to kiss his foreheads.

"Then it's settled. But you need to get caught up on things. I've had the maid typing every episode of The Power Fur Rangers that you missed." Lyon looked at him in surprise. "Well I'm not a monster and I know how important the show is to you." Lyon reached out and tightly hugged his father, making the Jeep swerve momentarily.

Two days later Lou pulled the jeep over a mile away from Salam City. Bear climbed out and Lou secured his vehicle then joined him. Lou was in his usual business attire while Bear was dressed in something more casual. He wore sandals on his feet and had a mini battery powered fan to try and cool off.

"So that's it I just walk into the city no questions asked?" Bear wondered.

"The military will try and warn you but if you disregard the warning they'll let you enter of your own accord. They'll probably figure you're stupid and looking to be mad into a human prisoner.

Now this is important! Try to get a feel for what the military's temperament is. I need to know if their patience is wearing thin because they may be planning on acting soon. You can tell everything to Dash and it will get sent to me.

If they forbid you to enter then it's a sure enough sign that time is up and I need you to get to my sons as fast as possible. Do you remember where I showed you the van is parked?"

"Yeah I got it. I hope you're right because I've worked with the military before and they are very sketchy." Bear answered. He remained calm but his stomach was starting to bother him.

Not because of the heat but that he knew how untrustworthy the armed forces could be. The Furries and C.I.Z.A. must have a paw in all this and pulling the strings behind the scenes. If he was identified then they'll know soon enough that he was here.

"You're taking a big risk by my going in this way." Bear replied.

"True, but I need to know what the military is up to. I know it's risky but it may be the only chance to know exactly how short on time we are."

"Aren't you worried this could give away the game?" Bear asked. He was surprised at how calm Lou was.

"I'm not convinced it will. C.I.Z.A. has taken steps to prove they will not align with me and after the failed attempt on my life by the FDI, I think they know they've burned their bridges. My husband and Merrik will draw their attention as they try to work out what I'm up to and why Merrik and Leggo went to them, while I sent you in, presumably, alone.

They know I'm very crafty and I'm sure their best minds are working on what I may do next. That is the only advantage I have at the moment but once they realize I've sent you in, that will give me the upper hoof on this. They will come running to get me to side with them." Lou explained.

"Maybe... or they may force the army to attack out of desperation." Bear added.

"This is why I need to know the temperament of the army. If we're running out of time then we need to act quickly. Dash will send you a note with my instructions and they need to be fully followed if this is going to work."

"So you really think that BH is gonna turn me into the incarnation of whatever "Gawd" is?" Bear asked.

"If he wants the humans under his paw then yes he will but the question is how will he convince them?" Lou said.

"Again you're taking a big risk and I hope it doesn't blow your antler's off." Bear said then he began to walk in the direction of the city entrance. He visibly showed indifference as he got closer and he saw the faces of several soldiers turn to watch him as he ignored them and kept walking.

It took all the resolve he had as at first it was a couple of soldiers but the more he walked to the city the numbers began to grow.

"What the fuck is he thinking?" He heard one of them mutter.

"Tell the General" Someone else shouted to his companions.

"What do we do?"

"He must be out of his mind." Was what he overheard them saying. He just continued waiting to see if he was going to be approached. Finally as he neared the edge of the army camp a pawful of soldiers ran out in front of him and told him to stop as they pointed their weapons at him.

He stopped walking and waited to see what they were going to do. One of the soldiers used his rifle to gesture for him to walk in the direction of the command tent. Bear raised his paws and obeyed as he was led into a large tent.

Inside, General Sharp Fang stood there impatiently with his arms across his chest as Bear was led inside. The General watched him closely as Bear observed him with indifference.

General Sharp Fang had earned that name when he lost one of his canine teeth in a battle. His lone fang stuck out from his maw. He was a German Shepherd like most of the soldiers here. The army seemed to favor them when building new soldiers

The General did scare him but the training from C.I.Z.A. helped him hide his true emotions. He saw that the eyes of the General were sizing him up looking for weakness so that he knew where to attack if it came to that.

"What brings a big name star here? Looking to sign autographs?" He said gruffly. The soldiers behind Bear snickered slightly but quickly became quiet as The General stared at them.

"An old friend seems to be in this place and I've come to see him." Bear replied. He didn't mind telling the truth but then the General didn't need the whole truth, not yet.

"So you think you can just waltz in and they'll release your friend?" General Sharp Fang said as his voice held a strong annoyance.

"It's so nice to see that you care about my well being. Or... is there another reason why you're stopping me from saving my friend? Wait, you guys aren't gonna attack soon are you? That's all the news keeps talking about." Bear said, tossing out the bait to see if General Sharp Fang was hungry enough to take it. The General smiled briefly before answering.

"The humans were once extinct and hopefully as long as they stay silent we won't make them go extinct again. The ball is in their court. So you want to go in and save your friend? Just realize if you get made into one of their pets it's not my responsibility to save you, understand?" General Sharp Fang said as all the myth he had a second ago vanished.

"We're crystal clear." Bear replied and The General gestured for him to leave. Bear quietly left under the soldier's watchful eyes.

Bear left the soldiers as he entered Salam City and saw the humans stare at him.

"Where is my son?" Bear shouted at them in the common language. "Where is The Reverend Lord?" The Humans flinched and a couple ran off. Bear waited for the white wolf to appear.
