Farida's First Feline Date

, , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This simple story is about how two characters, who are a couple in some of my other stories, began dating. Farida is a rabbit who has "a thing" for cats; however, she has had trouble finding cats who reciprocate her romantic interests. Katya is the first cat she's met who seems interested in her too, so Farida is anxious about making a good impression on their date. The story delves a little into the significance of the characters being predator and prey, but the first part is mostly about Farida dealing with her anxiety and shock at meeting a cat who is truly attracted to her. The second part gives some of Katya's perspective and reveals her desire to be Farida's submissive.

Farida is an imperfect character who comes off as a bit perverted and cat-obsessed, which she struggles to restrain in the first part of this story because she believes it will scare off her date. Katya has dealt with a lot of trauma and disillusionment, leading her to quit her career as a police officer and seek a new path in life. This story is about these characters finding the love, acceptance, and passion they both desire.

Farida's First Feline Date

By Heather O. Bunn

Farida nervously bounced her leg as she waited at the Middle Eastern restaurant for her date. The white and chocolate-splotched rabbit had weekends off this rotation and was meeting with the ginger cat, Katya, in person for the first time for dinner this evening. Farida felt unusually anxious about this first date, and this wasn't because she was meeting with a predator three times her size. Her sister, Ellie, had put her in contact with the cat, and the two had hit it off right away. They'd spoken a few times on video calls, and Katya seemed quite friendly and, more surprisingly, actually interested in her! Farida had known since she was a teenager that she had a thing for carnivores, cats in particular, but her advances had always been rebuffed by the felines in the past. She really didn't want to screw this date up!

Spurred by her anxiety, she'd arrived early at the restaurant: a big mistake that had only given her time to consider all the ways the date could go wrong. After ten minutes that seemed like half an hour, Katya stepped through the door of the small restaurant, and Farida nervously waved to catch her attention. The ginger cat's eyes fell on Farida, and she smiled before sauntering toward their table with that classic feline swagger, her long ginger tail swishing back and forth with the sway of her hips. Farida felt her heart racing, and it was almost like being a rabbit back before the end of predation, caught in a predator's hungry gaze! However, Farida was more aroused than afraid, and there was nothing sinister in Katya's sunny expression. The ginger cat was wearing an elegant body-contour dress that matched her beautiful kelly-green eyes, and Farida felt under-dressed in magenta University of Northern Vulpineva Medical School t-shirt.

Katya slid onto the pew-style bench opposite Farida's chair at the two-person table and gave her a wider, toothy smile that showed off her enormous canines. Farida smiled back shyly and felt a little self-conscious about her big, stupid incisors. She took a deep breath, trying to discard this insecurity. Katya knew she was dating a rabbit: she wouldn't judge her for things like that.

"It's so good to finally meet you in person!" Katya meowed cheerfully.

Farida nodded, trying to swallow her anxiety, "Same. Thank you for coming, Katya."

"It was no problem. The drive was fine. Besides, I might be going here before too long, so I'd like to get a look around."

"Oh yeah, you're looking at master's programs in social work, right?" Farida replied, starting to feel less nervous as the conversation took off. "I only really know about the medical school here. My sister went here for undergrad, but I didn't visit much. What college is that program in?"

"It's in the college of education and development. You went to a gender-minority undergrad, right? Twisted Oak?"

Farida nodded in confirmation.

"How was that?"

"The cats there were surprisingly close-minded about dating a rabbit," Farida joked dryly.

Katya snorted and let out a little chuckle. "I would say that's too bad, but if they hadn't been, some other cat might have already snatched you up. So I ought to thank them," Katya quipped. "Their loss, my gain."

Farida blushed slightly and let out a little giggle of her own. She wasn't accustomed to being with someone who was as attracted to her as she was to them. She'd had creepy guys hit on her, of course, and she'd tried her luck with cats of every gender. But the idea that this beautiful--honestly stunningly gorgeous--cat was also into her was a little difficult to get her mind around. Not that she was complaining! Farida's biggest worry was that she'd come off as too eager, desperate. She could have thrown herself at Katya and rubbed her face all over her spicy-sweet-scented body! But that was more likely to end with a restraining order than a second date.

Katya glanced around the small restaurant. "This is a nice little place. Do you come here often?"

Farida nodded, "It's great! And affordable too! That's important on a medical school budget."

Katya smiled warmly, "Well, you'll have to give me some recommendations then. What do you usually order?"

"Their tabbouleh is really good, and I also like their dolmas, er," Farida paused awkwardly. "You, uh, probably wanted to order meat though. My friends say the mutton gyro is good."

Katya continued to smile amiably. She didn't seem as embarrassed by the slip-up as Farida felt. I finally get to go on a date with a carnivore, and I try to tell her to eat salad!

"Maybe I'll try that, and I wouldn't mind tasting some of your food too. I like to try new things," Katya stated genially.

"S-sure," Farida stammered. "I, um, I actually tried meat once, but, um." Farida hesitated. This probably wasn't the best dinner conversation to tell her date. "It, uh, upset my stomach," Farida abridged.

Katya blinked at her curiously, "But you liked it?"

Farida nodded, "It wasn't bad."

"Interesting. I thought prey usually hated the smell, or at least strict herbivores did."

"Most do," Farida agreed. "Ellie told me it's the hardest thing about living with a cat."

Katya grinned toothily, "Oh? So what you're saying is you've already cleared the biggest hurdle for us, eh?" she teased.

"As long as you can get used to the idea of me eating poop, I don't think diet will be a big issue," Farida returned roguishly. She almost instantly regretted the comment, a pit of dread opening up in her stomach. People who didn't understand how rabbits processed their food were always horrified to learn about caecotrophs!

However, Katya merely shrugged, "Don't worry. I've had enough rabbit friends to understand. I'm not the one eating it, so it doesn't bother me."

Farida let out a chuckle of relief, "Thank goodness! I thought I'd scared you off for sure!"

"You'll have to be a lot grosser than that," Katya returned jovially. "You know most cats wash themselves with their tongues, right? Every part, even my butt hole."

Farida let out a soft, embarrassed chuckle, but the mental image of the ginger cat with her head between her legs did anything but disgust her! "I, uh, I heard that sometimes cats groom each other like that," she said embarrassedly.

"That's true. Close friends and family will wash where we can't reach. It's hard to lick your own head."

"Rabbits used to do that too. I wouldn't mind, uh, I-I mean, when we know each other better," Farida replied awkwardly. She hardly wanted to come right out and say I want to lick you!

However, Katya looked pleased to hear this rather than embarrassed. "I'm glad you're comfortable with the idea. Allogrooming can really bring a couple closer together!"

The waiter took their orders and brought their water. Farida felt that, despite her being unable to fully restrain her weirdness, this date was going surprisingly well.

"How did you meet Ellie?" Farida asked. She knew that Katya and her sister were friends and some of what they had been through together, but she'd never heard how they'd met.

Katya looked a bit embarrassed as she answered, "I, uh, I actually tackled her."

Farida gasped in surprise. "You did?!"

Katya nodded bashfully. "I thought she was going to attack the chief. She wouldn't stop, so I jumped on her. It was when I was working as a police officer, of course."

"Oh, well, that makes sense. Ellie never had much respect for authority."

"How about you?"

Farida grinned roguishly, "Nah, fuck the police, right?" she quipped.

Katya grinned back, "I _wholeheartedly_agree."

This might have been a surprising thing to hear from a former officer if Farida hadn't already known the reason why Katya had left the police force. The corruption she'd witnessed would disillusion even the most starry-eyed recruit! As far as Farida was concerned, the police were agents of a vulpine-supremacist, capitalist state, not the protectors they claimed to be. Even if individual officers did good things on occasion, the entire institution was corrupt and broken.

They chatted a bit more about Farida's experiences in medical school and Katya's application process for the master's program before their food arrived. Farida had gotten tabbouleh and vegetable kebabs, and Katya had gotten the mutton gyro as Farida had suggested. They ate in semi-comfortable silence for a few minutes before Farida spoke.

"How is it?"

"Delicious. How's yours?"

"Good like always. I, uh, you can try some if you really want to."

Katya passed Farida her fork. "If you put a little on my plate, I'll try it."

Farida gave the cat a couple pieces of zucchini and bell pepper from one of her kebabs and a little of the tabbouleh. She watched anxiously as the cat tried each: Katya's expression was impassive as she did.

"I liked the vegetables, but I didn't enjoy the salad much," the cat concluded after eating what Farida had given her.

"I, uh, guess we have different tastes," Farida replied awkwardly.

"It's only natural," Katya returned nonchalantly. She went back to eating her gyro.

It was only natural, of course. Farida was evolved to eat grass and leaves, and Katya was evolved to eat her. Farida knew it shouldn't bother her; she and Katya both wanted this relationship to work. However, the idea of what was "natural" had been used as a cudgel to rebuke Farida's romantic inclinations for as long as she could remember, not to mention how it had been used to justify the oppression and slaughter of prey prior to the legal end of predation! But to explain their difference in taste preferences, it was a perfectly logical and reasonable explanation, and of course, Katya hadn't meant anything harmful by it. They both had to eat what they had to eat, and Katya's mutton had been grown as a tissue culture in a vat. Their evolutionary histories were what they were, but they weren't slaves to that past. Predators and prey could be friends now, and they could even be in romantic relationships. Her sister, Ellie, had proven that with her kitty fiancé, and Farida and Katya could prove that too.

"Is everything okay?" Katya asked concernedly.

"Yeah, I was just thinking," Farida replied. She looked up at Katya and smiled warmly, "I'm really glad you could meet me here today."

Katya smiled back, "I'm glad too."

They finished eating and split the bill. They walked outside together.

"I had a wonderful time talking to you. We should have another date again soon," Katya stated warmly.

"I had a wonderful time too," Farida answered.

"May I, may I give you a hug?" Katya asked, suddenly shyer than she'd been the entire evening.

Farida's heart began to race with excitement, "Y-yeah, you can."

Katya stepped forward and wrapped Farida in a warm hug, squeezing her tightly but not too tightly to be comfortable for Farida's more delicate body. Farida hugged the cat back and pressed her cheek against her chest, breathing her spicy-sweet perfume. Katya's strong arms squeezing her close were a dream come true! Farida was in utter bliss: a cat who not only liked her but wanted her! Farida desperately desired to be her bunny and for Katya to be her kitty.

"Where's your car?" Katya murmured in her ear, still holding her close. "I can drive you home if you want."

"I was going to ride the bus, but I'll ride with you." She sighed happily, rubbing her cheek against the beautiful, amazing kitty. "I wish you could spend the night, but I have roommates," she divulged without thinking.

Katya laughed a little embarrassedly. "Do you? I, um, didn't want to rush into things, but, uh, you can come home with me if you want. I'll drive you back tomorrow. I don't have to work on Sunday."

Farida's heart leapt, "R-really?!"

Katya looked down at her with a soft smile as she looked up in amazement. "I really like you, Farida," the cat meowed softly. "I don't know if I want to have sex just yet, but if you want to come back to kiss and cuddle, I'd love that."

Farida felt like her heart might explode with joy! She was absolutely speechless. She couldn't believe this was actually happening! A cat who really wanted her! She would kiss every _inch_of Katya's body if that's what she asked for!

"My car's this way if you want to," Katya stated, finally breaking the hug but taking Farida's hand.

Farida just nodded. She felt like she was in a dream. She followed the ginger cat to her green sports car and climbed into the passenger's seat. Katya climbed into the driver's seat and turned her head to give Farida another warm smile. She put her hand on Farida's and gave it a squeeze.

"Buckle up, bunny. It's a little bit of a drive."

About an hour later, they arrived at Katya's apartment complex. Farida's heart was pounding as she followed the cat inside. As they rode up the elevator together, it all still seemed so surreal to her. Katya led her into her apartment and locked the door behind them.

"Let me slip out of this," she meowed. "Make yourself comfortable."

Farida looked around the one-bedroom apartment, which was even smaller than the one she shared with her roommates. She plopped down on the gray, microfiber couch in front of the modest television. A few minutes later, Katya reemerged from her bedroom, having removed her dress. The cat was now wearing nothing; although, this was nothing all that unusual in Vulpineva where clothes were considered an affectation rather than a necessary covering for modesty's sake. Farida herself was wearing a t-shirt without any pants.

"The bathroom's over there if you need to use it," Katya said with a nod across the room to the other door by her bedroom.

"Er, yeah, I do," Farida admitted awkwardly.

She got up and went to use the bathroom. When she got out, Katya was seated on the sofa, and she turned to look at Farida with a smile. She patted the couch beside her. Farida crossed the room and sat next to the cat. Her mind was buzzing, but she didn't know what to do. Katya put her hand on Farida's and intermeshed her fingers with hers, but Farida just sat rigidly.

"Maybe this was too fast," Katya meowed after a few minutes. "I got caught up in the moment. If you're uncomfortable, let me know, and I'll take you home."

Farida looked up at the cat, who was looking down at her worriedly. Why am I being such an idiot?! It was all just so much, so much of what she'd always wanted. It didn't feel real; she was stunned. But it was real! Katya was real, and Farida was at her house. And now she was feeling awkward about inviting her because Farida was acting like a petrified little prey!

"I want to kiss you," Farida murmured.

She climbed up into Katya's lap and took the cat's face in her hands. Katya looked a bit surprised, but she wrapped her arms around her. Farida leaned in, tilting her head to one side, and Katya tilted her head the reciprocal direction. Farida shut her eyes, and their mouths met. And then they were kissing. Farida's tongue slid past the cat's rough tongue and over her sharp teeth. Katya's tongue pushed into her mouth, and cat and rabbit tongues entwined with each other. Farida held Katya close with her arms wrapped around the cat's head, and Katya's arms held her tightly, wrapped across her back. They drank deeply of each other, their unspoken desire communicated through the passion of their kiss. Farida wanted this cat; she wanted to be with her! And Katya wanted the same. Locked in this passionate embrace, they knew that this was right, that predator and prey didn't matter, that they could be happy together.

When they finally broke apart, Farida stripped off her t-shirt and tossed it on the floor. Standing up on her haunches, she wrapped her arms around Katya's head again and hugged it to her chest. She peppered Katya's head and triangular ears with kisses.

"I like you too, bunny," Katya meowed a bit amusedly. She stroked Farida's back.

"Lie down!" Farida demanded.

Katya obliged, turning on the couch and lying on her back with Farida on top of her. Farida lay with her chest to Katya's chest, wrapped her forearms around the cat's head, and kissed her on the nose. Propping herself up on her elbows with her forearms still holding the cat's head, Farida gazed down at her with fierce passion.

"I want you to be my kitty," Farida said with determination.

Katya's mouth spread in a grin, "Does that make you my bunny, or are you claiming ownership right now?" she teased.

"I'm your bunny too, of course," Farida returned.

Katya stroked her back. "That seems fair then. Not that I wouldn't have accepted either," she replied with a mischievous twinkle in her green eyes.

Farida blushed at that. She wondered just what kind of things Katya was into, but she would find out in time. There was no need to rush that: they were together now. Farida lay with her head on Katya's chest, and Katya held her and stoked her from head to scut. Farida was utterly content in her kitty's arms, pressed against her strong, beautiful body. She nuzzled her nose into her ginger fur and breathed her spicy-sweet scent and sighed.

* * *

Katya awoke with Farida in her arms. The ginger cat had initially thought the rabbit would be more comfortable on the couch, but when she'd offered to share her bed, Farida had been eager to do so. Katya was pleased that the rabbit felt comfortable sleeping while she held her; she'd worried she might have some instinctual fear of sleeping in a predator's claws. In fact, Katya was very happy with how confident Farida seemed around her ever since they'd shared their first kiss.

Katya's friend, Ellie, had put her in contact with Farida, who was Ellie's younger sister. Katya admired the confidence and conviction with which Ellie conducted herself despite her diminutive stature and species, and Ellie had told her Farida's temperament was similar if not fierier. This had indeed seemed to be the case during their phone and video calls prior to their first date; however, Farida had seemed shyer and more anxious when they'd finally met in person. Katya had, of course, known the doe might be nervous for any number of reasons, but she had worried that the reality of being on a date with a predator three times her size might have been the cause. Fortunately, Farida seemed to have recovered from whatever shock she'd sustained.

They'd spent the evening kissing and caressing each other, and Farida's passionate desire had been obvious. She'd made Katya feel like the most beautiful, attractive person in the world, and Katya had adored every minute of it. Moreover, Farida herself was quite adorable, not only because of her bunny cuteness but because of how she seemed to get lost in Katya's eyes and because of the funny little quips she made during their conversations. Katya had been in several previous relationships, but she'd never been with someone who seemed quite so enthralled by her. Katya honestly hoped it would wear off just a little since she didn't want a partner with a sycophantic devotion to her, but she suspected that Farida's confident nature would assert itself before long. Farida had been the one to initiate their first kiss, for instance, and while Katya had teased her for it, she'd been a little aroused when the rabbit had almost demanded that she was "her kitty."

With a soft smile, Katya gently petted the little rabbit nestled against her chest. Farida's nose was pressed into Katya's fur, and she could feel her warm breaths on her chest. She wasn't any smaller than Katya's previous girlfriend, Bree, who was a black-footed cat, but she was an herbivore with no fangs and blunt claws for digging, not for sinking into prey. Katya didn't believe that prey were weak, but the rabbit wasn't exactly well armed, except for her powerful legs. Those could do serious injury if she wanted.

Farida yawned and snuggled closer to her without opening her eyes.

"Are you awake?" Katya whispered.

"Hm-mm," Farida softly murmured in denial.

Katya smiled amusedly, "You can answer in your sleep then, hmm?"

"Mm." Farida grunted softly, neither an affirmation nor a denial.

Katya nuzzled the doe between the ears. "We can cuddle longer if you want."

Katya stroked the doe from head to scut as they lay in bed together. Farida's warm scent, like savory and fresh hay, filled Katya's nose as she kept it pressed to the doe's head.

After a few minutes, Katya asked, "May I wash your ears for you, Farida?"

This finally convinced Farida to open her eyes. She looked up at Katya a bit shyly. "Do you want to? I thought, um, you only did that with someone you were really close with."

Katya smiled a bit amusedly, "You just spent the night sleeping in my arms. I feel we're close enough. It's up to you though."

"I'd like you to," Farida answered softly.

Katya began licking Farida's long, velvety ears. She groomed the outside and then the inside surface of the pinna but didn't stop there. Pressing her muzzle to Farida's head, she reached her long tongue into the doe's ear to lap at any gunk that might have accumulated.

Farida let out a soft little, "Ah!" as Katya's tongue reached inside her ear, but she didn't pull away.

Katya tasted bitter earwax and she gently lapped at the doe's ear canal until it was clear. Retracting her tongue, she repositioned herself to wash the next ear.

"I, uh, didn't realized you were going to get in there like that," Farida commented embarrassedly.

Katya looked down at her worriedly, "Sorry! I guess I should have asked. Do you not want me to do that?"

"No, I, uh, I liked it. I was just surprised," Farida returned bashfully.

"I'll make sure I get the other nice and clean too then!" Katya said cheerfully.

She began on Farida's second ear, and as she gently washed the inside of the second ear, Farida let out a little moan of pleasure. Katya finished by washing the top of her head. Farida pushed herself up with her arms when Katya was done and gazed down at her with a warm smile.

"Thank you for being my kitty, Katya," she said softly. "Can I do you now?"

"Of course!"

Farida bent over her, and Katya soon felt the little laps of her tongue as the doe washed her ears. She giggled at the ticklish sensation when Farida's warm, slippery tongue lapped inside her ears, and she sighed as Farida stroked her head with her damp, warm tongue. When Farida was done, she kissed Katya on the nose and smiled down at her, still holding herself up on her arms over Katya.

"My kitty," she murmured affectionately.

"Should I wear a collar so that everyone knows who I belong to?" Katya teased.

Farida looked down at her with an amused but contemplative smile. "Maybe you should," she suggested after a minute. "I kind of get the feeling that you want to."

Katya blushed embarrassedly, "O-oh?"

Farida smiled wider, showing off her big upper incisors, "Mmhm, I think maybe you want to have a leash and collar and be my _obedient_kitty. How does that sound to you?"

Katya's heart was racing as she stared up at the doe embarrassedly, and as she did, the desire to do just as Farida had suggested became irresistible! She nodded shyly.

Farida grinned even wider. She bent down and gave Katya another kiss on the nose. "Good kitty. At our next date, I'll have them for you."

Her heart pounding, Katya asked, "Are you, um, are you serious about this?"

Farida looked down at her with a calm, confident smile, "Yes, as long as it's what you want, then I'll be happy to have you as my obedient kitty. I'm starting to think I'm not the only one with a particular interest in another species. How long have you wanted to be a bunny's pet?"

"I-I don't know," Katya answered embarrassedly. "Maybe it wasn't until you asked me. M-maybe I've wanted this for a while. I guess I'd never admitted it to myself before now."

Farida caressed her cheek. "That's okay. We'll take it slow and see how much you like it. I promise to take good care of you, Katya."

Katya nodded nervously. She was a surprised by how strong this desire was and didn't know what the limit of it might be, but she knew she wanted to be Farida's and to obey her.

"Why don't you start by finishing my bath then?" Farida said with a mischievous glint in her dark brown eyes. "You did my ears. Now do the rest of me."

"Y-you want me to?" Katya mewed embarrassedly.

Farida nodded with a dominant smirk, "Make sure you wash _all_of me," she commanded playfully.

"Y-yes, Farida."

Katya got up, and Farida lay back on the bed. Bashfully, Katya stared down at the rabbit who grinned up at her confidently: they both knew who was in charge now. Katya blushed at the thought and began to wash Farida's face with her tongue. She felt the rabbit's nose and whiskers twitching as she licked them with her rough tongue. As she moved down Farida's neck and then down her chest, grooming the rabbit's fur diligently with long strokes of her tongue, she felt embarrassed but also aroused. She would be Farida's good and obedient kitty for as long as that made them both happy, and she thought that might be for a very long time.
