A major thanks to Dasher Cheetah/ AKA Kitty Boy for helping me edit this. As always his amazing talent allowed me to convey my thoughts with ease. Please give him the credit he deserves. Also, no gay butt sex in this one, but the next one will be a good romantic fucking/orgy.

Through the Horizon: Dasher's Return

Bane sat in his office in the alliance base, on his desk sat reports from the new city. It was more than they had ever hoped for. The city had enough space for everybody, more technology than they could have dreamed of and was nearly attack proof. In fact, he was already planning his move to Hugo's former office. He took a deep sigh and rubbed Dasher's head. He wanted so badly to restore his friend to his normal form. He hadn't forgotten about him and it was one of the many things Bane thought about frequently. Ron had ran into problem after problem in trying to find the reason behind Dasher's transformation. They had even given the case to Seamus without telling the Fox who it was and he too was stumped as to how it happened or how to fix it. Naturally Seamus had figured out who the DNA sample was from as Dasher was the only Cheetah in the alliance. Bane and Ron realized they hadn't thought that plan though completely, but the goal was achieved. Seamus had been upset about trying to trick him but he hadn't held it against them. If word got out as to Dasher's condition it might cause some unwanted and unneeded issues to arise. Seamus understood the need for secrecy but it didn't mean he had to like it. Bane smiled at his friend as Dasher licked his leg, then rested his head on Bane's thigh. It was as if Dasher was telling Bane that it was okay, he understood. Bane smiled, even as a wolf he always knew what to say.

Seamus sat in his office in Accendo City. He had been assigned to take over command of the medical building of the city. It had taken almost a week to get the place cleaned up. It had been covered in blood as it was the site of the battle and subsequent blood bath. The repair drones had the building up and running and almost all of it had been repaired. He was looking over the medical records of the city. Most of them had been restored when the central computer had been brought back up to full capacity. The original inhabitants had made some amazing advances in medical technology. There was a device that sped up the healing of cuts and wounds, devices to mend broken bones, even devices that would alter DNA! It was more than Seamus had ever seen or hoped for. Also on his desk was the file for Dasher Cheetah. Bane had brought him into the project but only after Ron had informed him couldn't fix the problem. Seamus was looking over the technology that had been used to alter the DNA of the original inhabitants of the city. Maybe it could be used to undo the damage to Dasher, or at least complete the process changing him into a wolf so he could speak. It was a difficult problem but he was confidant that there would be a solution to it. Indeed, it seemed that finishing the process was the first step. As he looked over his calculations, Bane walked into his office. Bane had transported over early and decided to pay Seamus a visit while his staff relocated his office and its contents. "B-Bane, you're here?", said Seamus as he looked at his commanding officer with an expression of disbelief. Bane laughed and responded,"Yes, I'm here as is somebody else." Seamus heard the sound of claws on metal as Dasher padded into the room. Seamus smiled, "I was just thinking of him. I have some good news . . . I think I can cure Dasher." After a brief moment of shock, this news caused Dasher to leap into Seamus's lap and lick him frantically. After Bane helped pull the excited Dasher off of the Fox, Seamus continued,"But you won't be a Cheetah. Before I can even hope to reverse the process you must finish making the transformation. You see your DNA is slowly altering itself to be a wolf similar to Bane or any other wolf in the empire. But first you had to go though the feral stage. The only thing is you would technically be a hybrid since you will still have your Cheetah DNA. The complete transformation could take weeks, months, or years at its current rate. Whatever you were exposed to, its' first stage is quick but the second stage is slow. I don't think the thing was complete when you were exposed to it." Bane nodded and asked, "When can we do the procedure?" Seamus looked at his notes and said, "Give me an hour and I'll be ready." Bane nodded in understanding and Seamus guided them to the lab where the procedure would take place. Bane walked though the door and was shocked by the contents of the room. It was set up for automatic delivery of some chemical into a patient, who would be strapped to a metal table in the center of the room. There was a window for viewing the event but it was protected by a force-field. Bane looked at Seamus and said, "Surely you don't plan to strap him to the table and leave him alone to face this?" Seamus looked uncomfortable and said, "Bane, it's the safest method of doing this. I don't know what will happen." Bane shook his head as he said, "No Seamus, I will be with him." "As will I.", said a voice from behind them. Ron was standing behind Seamus and having overheard everything, he was obviously annoyed. Ron said,"How dare you! Just going to leave him alone in a time of need, like he's just an experiment?"

Seamus sighed and responded, "Whatever you may think, I'm just looking out for our safety."

Ron shook his head and said, "Then you go ahead and look out for your own skin, I'll be with Dasher." Seamus sighed and walked out of the room.

Bane looked at Ron and asked, "Ron, wasn't that a bit harsh?" Ron sighed and answered, "Maybe but Dasher isn't an experiment, he's our friend." Bane put an arm around the Fox and said, "And Seamus wasn't saying he was. He does have a point, we don't know what will happen but if you want to stay with him then we both will." Ron smiled, "Thanks Bane." A whimper from Dasher brought their attention back to the situation at hand. Dasher was sitting in the middle of the room shaking a bit. He was obviously very frightened but so was everybody. This was unexplored territory. It could go very good or very bad and only time would really tell. Bane and Ron sat beside Dasher and held him while time seemed to crawl. Eventually the dreaded time arrived and Seamus walked back into the room with a hypo spray in his paw.

Seamus said,"Now in theory, this will finish his transformation. If I'm right we will have a wolf Dasher who can walk and talk like any of us." Bane looked at Seamus as he asked, "And if your wrong?" "Well," said Seamus, "it will be very bad." Seamus walked up to Dasher and looked down at the nervous wolf as he said, "Now Dasher, I know you are afraid but you must trust me. This is the only way." Dasher nodded and exposed his neck for the treatment. Bane could see the fear in his eyes but everybody knew it was the only way for the gentle cheetah to be restored to his normal form. A fully anthro wolf wasn't the desired form but it was better than the current one. Seamus placed the hypo at his neck and injected the wolf with the serum in it. The effect was instant. Dasher's muscles locked up and he howled in pain. Ron held him as he lay on the floor howling in agony. His body began to grow and change. His legs shifted into an anthro's legs and grew longer. His body grew into a wolf torso, his head grew larger, and his muzzle more pronounced. His howls turned to screams and his arms elongated. In mere moments, before them was an anthro wolf and nobody could believe it. Dasher gave one final scream of agony and passed out. Ron lay holding him sobbing against his chest. Bane sat in complete shock at what he had just witnessed. Seamus stood by with tears in his eyes. He had cured Dasher of being feral but had caused him great pain in the process.

Bane calling his name shook him out of the trance he had fallen into. Seamus walked over and checked Dasher's vitals with his scanner before pronouncing, "He is stable and his DNA has stopped its alterations. He will be okay but may sleep for quite a while." Bane nodded and picked the former Cheetah turned anthro wolf up in his arms before saying,"I'll take him to a room and settle him in." Ron nodded and stated, "And I'll stay with him." Bane carried Dasher through the city back to Accendo Tower. They walked into one of the executive suites that had been marked off as officer's quarters. The room had an expansive layout. It contained a kitchen with a great room and a bedroom as well as it's own bathroom. The walls were made of a metal alloy but were painted in warm brown colors. Bane walked into the bedroom and laid Dasher on the queen sized bed. It was very comfortable and the wolf nuzzled into the pillow as he curled up in his sleep. Bane turned to Ron and said,"Your orders are to tend to Dasher until further notice." Ron smiled at his commanding officer and friend. Bane never ceased to impress him with how he seemed to always be one step ahead on everything. Bane walked out of the room and Ron lay in bed with Dasher. He wrapped his arms around him and held the wolf quietly as he stroked his back and head.

Dasher opened his eyes and did not recognize his location. It obviously wasn't the base as the walls were a brownish tint and the furniture in the room was a bit lavish. The smell was different and the background sounds not what he had grown used to hearing. As his body awoke from its slumber, he realized somebody was holding him. He looked behind him to see Ron. It made him smile. Ron was a good friend and the Fox always took good care of him. Dasher's movement awoke the slumbering Fox. Ron exclaimed,"Dasher, you're awake!" Dasher chuckled and used his voice for the first time in weeks,"Yes dear, I'm awake." Ron sat up and looked at Dasher as tears formed in his eyes and he said, "I was so worried about you, so very worried." Dasher laughed and pulled Ron into a cuddle as he murred,"You worry too much dear." The two lay in bed and held each other for a while, until their romantic cuddling session was interrupted by a rumble from Dasher's stomach. Ron laughed and commented,"Kitty sounds hungry." Dasher nodded as he answered,"That drained me of a lot of energy. I could use a good meal." Ron smiled and told the hungry Wolf,"Then I can hook you up." Dasher looked confused as he asked,"Where are we, by the way?" Ron laughed at Dasher's confusion and said,"That's right! You came here in your feral form. I guess you wouldn't know about the city. Come and I shall give you a tour and then take you to a good restaurant located in the city." Dasher looked even more confused but dressed himself anyway as Ron told him about finding a city and the battle that had been fought to gain control of it. Ron put on his engineers uniform and Dasher dressed in his officer's uniform. It was hardly a good fit as his body had changed but it was all he had at the moment. Once they were dressed, the two walked into the great room and Dasher was shocked to see the window. His eyes got big and his ears went back as he asked,"R-Ron, are we where I think we are?" Ron laughed and said happily,"If you think we are under water, then you are right." Ron smiled and told Dasher the story of the city. It interested him greatly and the two walked out of the front door. Dasher was interested to see how new and clean the city looked. It was difficult to stomach that it was the location of the bloodbath that Ron had described. They walked though the city and Dasher was increasingly amazed at the technology. Magic was natural to him, but technology had always made him slightly uncomfortable. The amount of technology in this city was just overwhelming for the kitty.

The two finally arrived at the restaurant, it was named The Fish Bowl. Dasher was shocked to see that it had already been staffed and opened and was being run by civilians too! Ron laughed, "A lot has changed since you went feral hun." Dasher looked around to see the restaurant was located in a glass dome. Sea life swam by as they took their seats and ordered their meal. They ordered some wine and were brought a bottle and two glasses. Ron sipped his and smiled at Dasher as he said,"We found a considerable quantity of wine in one of the buildings. This is now the capital of the alliance but its not called that anymore. Bane changed the name to the United Galactic Empire. The members wanted a strong name and a better capital. We found this city and it suited the definition of what we were looking for." Dasher nodded as he took this in and said,"So much has changed in such a short time. I thought I was in the loop but apparently I wasn't." Ron grinned as he teased,"Well, you were kind of busy licking your balls to pay attention to what was going on around you." Dasher blushed though his fur and replied "well if they didn't taste so good I wouldn't have done it."

Bane sat in his office looking out of the large window. He took a deep breath and slowly let it out, his mind lost in thought. So much had happened since they had arrived in this timeline, and the list kept growing. Never in his wildest dreams did Bane ever think that he would be sitting in his ancestors city. Yet here he was, sitting in the office of Hugo Accendo. Now it was the office of the Emperor. He hated that title, hated it with a passion. He had fought the idea of an empire and wanted to keep it as an alliance. However it was what the members wanted and Bane knew that an empire was the only way to win the war. But that didn't mean he had to like it. However, it was all the citizens of this Galaxy had ever known. To impose a new government system on them now, well it would simply spell disaster. In short he was stuck between a rock and a hard spot. He was conflicted with what he wanted and what was best. Bane stood up and paced in his office. His old office simply hadn't the space for him to walk around but this one did. He walked and thought, each footstep took him deeper into his mind. The alliance had become an empire and many more systems had expressed interest in joining, now that there was more organization. The problem was that now there wasn't enough organization set up yet. Bane simply could not run a war effort, organize the empire and meet with foreign dignitaries every time they wished to see him. He needed staff, no he needed a cheetah! Bane smiled to himself. Dasher was the perfect fur for the job. He was unique and would draw attention, yet his smooth way of dealing with problems would allow him to slide into any situation and deal with it calmly and effectively. At the same time, Dasher had become known as the demon cat. This reputation would be strengthened once Dasher was revealed to be alive and it would strike fear into all that opposed him. It was the perfect answer, Bane decided but first, Bane would be a friend and take care of the Cheetah. So much had happened and Bane wasn't about to put more on Dasher's plate just yet. Bane looked up from his thought induced trance to see Dasher and Ron walk into his office. Bane smiled as Dasher walked over and embraced his alpha and friend. Bane smiled and tears of joy ran down his face. The kitty still wasn't a cheetah, but he could walk and talk. That was a vast improvement over the previous state of affairs. Dasher, as if seeing Bane's thoughts, said,"New look but the same old cheetah on the inside." Bane smiled and hugged the cheetah tightly as he admitted, "It is so good to hear you talk Dasher. I've missed your voice and your wise council so much." Bane teared up a bit as he hugged his friend. So much had been lost, so many had made the ultimate sacrifice. To have Dasher back was to have a small piece of what he had lost back.

Dasher smiled and held his alpha and friend. As difficult as it had been on him, he knew his friends had also suffered. Ron walked over and it turned into a group hug. Bane broke the hug and walked over to a couch that was in the private area of his office and took a seat. Inviting the other two to join him. Ron and Dasher followed and also took a seat. Bane smiled and began,"Dasher, when you feel up to it, I have a new assignment for you." Dasher's ears perked up. He was very excited to get back to work. Far too long had he lounged about as a feral. "I'm ready as soon as you need me Emperor.", Dasher said the last part with a sly smile on his maw. He knew Bane would greatly dislike the title and the look he got from saying it confirmed his suspicions. "Dasher, I may be the Emperor but please don't call me such. I didn't want this position or title. However, for the benefit of the alliance I really had no other choice.", Bane said sourly and with a look of displeasure on his maw. Dasher nodded and said,"They are comfortable with you. You are a good leader and have earned their trust. You should be proud of yourself." Bane chuckled and said,"I suppose I should be, but I need your help. I can't run a war effort and meet with foreign dignitaries every five minutes. They are driving me crazy and I don't yet have a Minister of Defence to deal with battle plans." Dasher chuckled and nodded in agreement as he said,"Yes, I suppose it is hard to play politics and run a war." Bane nodded and sprung his surprise by asking,"I want you to be my Minister of State. You will be in charge meeting with foreign dignitaries. Your reputation, combined with your return from the dead will make you the perfect one for the job. That and I need people I trust, and there is nobody whom I trust more than you." Dasher considered this and said carefully,"Yes, I suppose it would make me a good candidate for the position. I do find it amusing that I'm known as the demon cat, and I'm honored that you trust me enough for this."

Seamus then walked into the office and said lightly, "Well look what we have here. Meeting without me are you?" Bane chuckled back and said,"It's not like we are having an orgy without you." Dasher and Ron then laughed and added,"YET! . . . We aren't having an orgy without you, yet." After a brief chuckle from all present, Seamus smiled and hugged Dasher as he said warmly,"It's good to see you up and about." Dasher smiled at the Fox. Dasher had been able to see the worry and concern in his eyes as he injected the cheetah with the serum in an attempt to cure his condition. Seamus spoke up and said hopefully,"Dasher, I've had a thought. Bane told me that your earring had special properties to it." Dasher nodded and said, "It does. It allows me to shift into other forms if I want." "Well . . ." said Seamus, "would it allow you to shift from this form into your cheetah form?" Dasher's eyes light up and he grinned as he said,"I had not thought of it. Why don't we find out?" He reached his paw up and rubbed the ring in his ear. As he concentrated, his body glowed and with a flash, before them he stood in his feral cheetah form. Looking up with a grin, the Cheetah reached a paw up and touched it's earring. There was another flash of light. The light faded and Dasher was as he had been in his wolf form. This caused Seamus, Ron and Bane to tackle the Cheetah and pull him into a loving group hug. Dasher smiled and chuckled as he wrapped his arms around his friends. For now he would have to remanl wolf, but the fact that he could change at will showed that they really had their friend back. Perhaps, just perhaps things were not as bad as Bane had been thinking.

The next day Dasher sat in his new office and looked around. It was very spacious, even luxurious and he was impressed as to its size and furnishings. It would be a few days before he had any appointments but when they did start, he had appointment after appointment. He could see why Bane had been so overwhelmed by it all. It wasn't possible to run a war effort and do this at the same time. Of course Bane was in the process of filling his cabinet with minsters but that was a slow process. He needed people he trusted and Bane wasn't a very trusting individual. Granted his lack of trust for his fellow individuals had been what guided them though thus far, so the cheetah wasn't complaining about it. Dasher looked though the database of reports that had been transferred over to the city. Dasher was a little out of the loop after the accident. Seamus had explained to him that his feral brain, although still him, didn't comprehend as an anthro brain did. Apparently there were several main differences, but Dasher couldn't be bothered with remembering what they were. He didn't know how much of an effect that the destruction of the fleet had had on the surrounding star systems' populations. He had been hesitant to accept that Bane had no choice but to accept the position of emperor, however the reports didn't lie. Bane had sent several expeditions out to bring in new blood to the alliance and each time they had said no, only because of the lack of an organization. The people wanted to see a government and the only form any of them had ever known was an empire. Bane and the Empire were nothing to take lightly and now that it was formal and solidified, all knew that. There were several communications that had been intercepted from the wolf empire showing exactly how afraid they were. The Alliance had defeated them at every turn with little support and no supplies. Now that they had won a major victory, the Wolf empire knew that more would flow to them. There were rumors that Lord Whitepaw, the leader of the Wolf empire, had started a campaign against Bane. After the losses at the hands of the empire, Whitepaw realized that it wasn't the empire he needed to destroy, only Bane. It was widely known that Bane was the backbone of the resistance. However those who knew him best knew that nothing could destroy the wolf's resolve to win this war and spread peace throughout. As Dasher got nearly half way though the reports, the door of his office hissed open and Bane stepped though it. The Cheetah smiled at his friend and said," I was wondering when you would come and see me." Bane chuckled and said,"You know me too well my friend." Dasher nodded and agreed with,"Indeed I do. What can I do for you today Bane." Dasher could see a tired look in the wolf's eyes, he doubted that he was sleeping very well. Bane said wearily,"I just needed somebody to talk to."

Dasher got up and walked over and hugged the wolf. He said with a yawn,"Why don't we go and get something to eat? I need a break too and I hear that there are some good restaurants in the city." Bane nodded and the two walked out of the office and headed down the hallway to the transporter. Dasher eyed the machine warily when they arrived at it and said firmly,"I'm not getting on that thing." Bane laughed and said,"It's perfectly safe." Dasher shook his head as he said,"No way and no how." Bane chuckled but acceded to the Cheetah's wishes and said,"Then we walk." "That's fine.", said Dasher, "It will keep my body in one piece and allow us more time to talk anyway."

The two headed down the hallway and toward the food area of the city. The city was split into areas. There were industrial districts, where various things were intended to be manufactured, residential areas and commercial areas such as the food court and then there were the engineering areas. Of course, there were medical areas and various other small areas placed throughout but in general it was divided into sections. They walked into a hallway which connected the buildings together and Dasher looked out at the water in amazement. This technology frightened him slightly, the fact that he could drown was unsettling to him. Yet Bane had assured him that they were in no danger. In time they reached the rather large commercial area of the city. It was made up of several buildings, all of which were under water.

They selected a nice sit down restaurant called The Horizon and took a seat. Dasher looked over the menu and seemed confused. He said,"Bane, I don't know what half of this is. What the hell is a steak?" Bane laughed and said,"We have replication technology here. We can make anything we have the pattern for. A steak is something from earth. Try one. I think you will like it." Dasher looked even further confused but ordered one anyway. The cheetah shook his head as he confessed,"Magic is simple to me but this confuses me." Bane laughed and admitted,"They both confuse the hell out of me. I don't understand technology so well, I can destroy it but as far as how it works, well I'm completely lost." Bane then took a tired sigh and continued, " I'm worried about the future of the new empire Dasher. We face so many problems and I don't know where to start." Dasher nodded and said,"Well . . . I doubt I'll be able to really help with the issues as many of them are probably military and logistical but I will say this. Every time we have faced a problem thus far you have not only met the issue head on but defeated it completely. Whatever we face you will meet and defeat it with ease because you have truth and justice on your side. I felt a great confidence in your leadership while I was a Wolf. I still have confidence in you, Bane. It is odd how it felt as a wolf but it is no less, now that I am back in my proper body." Bane blushed a bit at this. He understood that Dasher had felt the loyalty of a wolf before, when he was in a Wolf form. It was obvious the cheetah still had a high opinion of him. In fact, a lot of people seemed to but he couldn't understand the why of any of it. He was grateful they did an intended to not let any of them down. Once again, Dasher had found the words to reassure the troubled Bane and Bane was grateful for it. Their food arrived and both friend's mouths watered as they tucked into their steaks, satisfying another hunger of the purely physical kind. Good friends, good food and good drink went far to calm and bond the pair even closer. Bane was oddly optimistic about the future. Granted it would be difficult, especially when the Wolf Empire learned of the city. It was only a matter of time. Bane was sure there were spies in the city. In fact, it was something he was counting on. Not only did he intend to participate in open war, he also planed on psychological war. A series of misinformation leaks would provide the upper hand they needed. However now was not the time to focus on that. Now he would enjoy his cheetah friend, and after a romantic dinner he would really enjoy him. Bane smiled as he thought this, and he could swear Dasher knew what he was thinking as the sly smile was returned.
