Chapter 8 - Investigation at the Demon Castle

"So Mina, is it really a company or an agency?"

"Well, we aren't really supposed to be known by the public but still supported by the government and our job is to secure magical items and beasts so... We're probably an agency, but I don't know why I kept referring to my government job as a company. My brain has probably been rattled at some point."

"Now that's out of the way, why can't I go a day without doing your dirty work?!"

It had been just shy of Valentine's Day and Kitt had just been called by Mina to go to another mission.

"I have two important missions today and since I can't be at two places at the same time, you and another recruit will go investigate a malicious disturbance at a castle some borders away from where our base is."

"Ugh... why can't you just tell Sola to do it? I just wanted to get drunk and eat chocolate all day!"

"Because she doesn't want to do things alone and always wants me by her side. Look, she's over there waving at me right now."

Nova and Sola were just outside the briefing room where Mina and Kitt were talking and so after a bit more convincing, Kitt finally agreed to help out.

"Good, now I'll introduce you to your partner now."

Mina then gets on her phone and calls in the new recruit to come in.

"Um... hello there..."

The recruit who was assigned to work with Kitt was actually the orange dragon in armor who Plitt was taking care of on the day he was turned into a primitive cat.

"Hello, you will be my partner, correct?"

"It seems like it to me."

"My name is Kitt, I hope we can have a great time on this mission together!"

"My name is Claire and I-"'

But before Claire could properly introduce herself, the armor on her body exuded a white aura which formed into some kind of ghost tiger that overlapped with her body.

"Hey there! The name is Ren, nice to meet you, Kitt!"

"Gah! Who are you?!"

"Ren! I wasn't even done speaking to him!"

"Oops, sorry!"

Ren disappears into the armor and lets Claire talk again.

"What was that?"

"I'm sorry about Ren, he gets pretty excited when he meets new people so that he can talk about his past."

"Was that ghost tiger that appeared over your body the Ren you're talking about?" "

Yeah, Ren is a possessed armor I'm wearing right now."

"Are you alright? Do you not like, feel anything painful?"

"I'm fine, and there's no need to freak out about Ren popping up all of the sudden."

Intrigued by Claire, Kitt proceeded to ask more questions about her.

"Did he latch onto you? Can you even take him off?"

"Of course I can, Ren, show Kitt that we both trust each other wholeheartedly."

As requested by Claire, Ren then breaks apart from her body and reforms back together, standing up from the ground as a phantom tiger.

"I'm free to move without Claire's body to support me, but I can't keep this form forever or I'll just collapse onto the ground without enough magic to keep me stable."

"Hey Kitt, watch this."

Claire then poked her arm through Ren's arms and head with her arms going completely through him and even going inside of his arms and chest.

"Woah! It's like that ghost potion I drank before!"

"Err... Claire? I'm getting a bit weak now..."

"Oh! Quick, get on my body again!"

Ren then got behind Claire to lay his ghostly hands on hers and with the armor opening up like an exoskeleton, the two were together once again.

"Wow! it's just like me and Nova!"

"Nova? Who's that?"

"Oh I forgot to tell you about Kitt's own servant."

Mina then points at Nova outside.

"That scarlet red dragon outside? When I walked past him, I noticed that he was quite shiny and had no wings. Well I don't have wings and I'm a bit fluffy as well but you get the idea of him looking quite different than other dragons."

The two then leave the briefing room to meet up with Nova.

"Master! Are you done talking to Mina? And who's that with you?"

"Nova, this is Claire, she will be coming with us on our mission!"

"Is she a new friend of yours?"

"Well, I guess so."

Nova quickly eyed Claire with curiosity and meticulousness which she immediately noticed.

"Nova! Don't stare at her like that!"

But Nova ignored Kitt's embarrassed remark on his behavior and continued observing Claire's body.

"Uhh... hey Nova, what do you find interesting about me?"

Nova then touched Claire's armor and was immediately greeted by Ren's cheery voice which made him back off in surprise.

"Oh! The armor talks just like I can when I'm on master's body!"

Nova touched the armor again, this time without letting go to fully talk with Ren.

"Hello talking armor!"

"Hello Nova!"

The two were communicating telepathically with each other, so it just seemed like Nova was just happily staring at Claire's armor.

"Kitt, what is Nova doing?"

"I think he's talking to Ren right now..."

After a bit of time of just standing around, the two magical creatures seemed to have finished talking and let go of eachother.

"So Nova, what were you doing with Claire's armor? Ren told me wonderful stories about his past, master!" "

How is that possible? You were only touching Ren for a minute!"

"A minute? We had been talking for almost an hour in a small space I made in my mind for him to visit! And look! He gave me information about many old armor and clothes I could replicate!"

Nova suddenly surrounded Kitt's body with his energy which condensed into the same armor that Claire was wearing.

"Hey! This is exactly like Claire's armor!"

"There's more, master!"

The ancient armor suddenly changed into a queen's royal dress which made Kitt very embarrassed seeing that Claire was there and saw him wearing it.

"Nova! Why did you make me wear girl's clothing?!"

Claire was visibly amused seeing Kitt in the clothes of the opposite sex, but she quickly held her mouth before she could rudely laugh at him.

"This is so embarrassing! Nova, just turn it back to your armor!"

Nova quickly obliges with Kitt's request and switches the queen's dress into his eastern styled armor.

"Oh my god, Kitt, that was so funny, is Nova always like this to you?"

Kitt then shyly replied back,

"Sometimes... Even Sola over there would make me put on clothes that I don't want to."

While Kitt talked to Claire about his life with Nova, Nova quickly went up to Sola who was still sitting down and looking at Mina through the window who was doing paperwork and whispered something mischievous in her ears.

"So yeah, that's how I met him and what our life is like so it's very weird to explain it to a regular per-"

The armor on Kitt's body suddenly disappeared and a jet of yellow slime splashed onto his body which quickly morphed into a maid uniform.

"Gah! What was that cold feeling?"

"Kitt! Look at what you're wearing!"

Kitt paused his conversation with Claire and realized that he was suddenly wearing Sola's maid uniform.

"Eek! Where did this come from?!"

Kitt then glanced behind him, but found that Nova and Sola were nowhere to be found but it was just that they had gone invisible and silently watched from afar.

"Claire, help me take this off! It's so tight for some reason!"

Claire summoned her wind dagger to try and cut the straps of the maid dress but as soon as the dagger got close, Kitt's arms fell and his eyes went blank.

"Claire... nevermind that... what would you like to have today?"

"Huh? Are you okay?"

Kitt began acting like a maid at a cafe with his blank eyes only reflecting Kitt's true conscience struggling inside from embarrassment.

"What do you mean? There's nothing to eat in this hallway? Are you really alright?"

Claire began to shake Kitt to snap him out of his trance, but Sola's control was too powerful for her to simply stop just by words and force.

"Ah... please be gentle with staff..."

"Kitt! Wake up!"

Claire then began to slap Kitt to try and break him free of Sola's control, but seeing that it did not work, she turned to Ren for any possible solutions.

"Ren, do you have any powers to break someone out of mind control? Nova and the other dragon behind him disappeared as soon as he started to act like this so they must be the one doing this to him."

"Hmm... I'll see what I can do."

Ren then separated from Claire and latched onto Kitt to try and save him from this embarrassing spell. The inside of Kitt's mind at the moment was him in his bedroom, watching himself do these girly actions through his computer while cringing.

"Kitt! Are you alright?"

"Sniff... huh? Who are you? Ren? What are you doing here? Actually, I'm glad you're here! Help me break free of this place!"

Ren was now inside of Kitt's subconscious to help him free his mind from Sola's forced maid roleplay.

"Look what I'm doing outside! I'm acting all girly and this isn't right at all! Ren, you have to do something!"

"Alright, alright, I hear you!"

Seeing that the computer was Kitt's source of information to the outside world, Ren used his masterful wind powers to create a powerful jet of air to slice the computer screen in half and after doing so, the reality they were in began to collapse.

"The room is crumbling! Did you free me perhaps?"

"I'll see you outside then!"

Ren separates from Kitt's body and returns to Claire who was now holding him in her hands after he had fainted from being broken free of mind control.

"Kitt! Wake up!"

"Ough... Ah! Claire!"

Kitt quickly stood up from Claire's hands and saw that he was now back to his normal self, but was still wearing the tight maid uniform.

"Kitt! You started spouting nonsense about serving me latte and cake like a waiter!"

"I could only watch as my body moved on its own! I'm so sorry about that!"

Seeing that their silly prank had been foiled, the two dragons come out of hiding and show themselves to Kitt.

"Sola! What you did to me wasn't funny you know!"

"I'm so sorry KItt, but Nova told me to do it!"

"Hey, I only asked you to make master wear your maid uniform! I didn't ask you to make him act like one too!"

Kitt begins to cry due to the two dragon's cruel prank, but Claire quickly reassures him.

"Kitt, it's okay, you don't have to be so worried about ruining first impressions!"

Finally done with her paperwork, Mina goes outside to see what all the commotion is all about.

"What's all this noise? I thought you two already went to the hangar to make your way to your mission? Why is Kitt wearing a maid uniform? What?"

Mina was surprised that Kitt was wearing something so out of place and when Kitt saw her, he began to cry again.

"Huh? Why are you crying? Nova, Sola, what did you do to Kitt?"

"Well... I asked Sola here to put her maid uniform on Kitt as a joke and when she did, she also made him act like a maid."

"You know you shouldn't do that to my brother! Kitt, are you okay?"

Having had enough of being stared at with a maid uniform, Kitt runs off to living quarters that he had stayed in before.

"Sigh... Nova, Claire, go get Kitt and start your mission. Sola, I'll need to discipline you in my room for what you did to my brother."

"Wait, don't tell me you want me to-"

"Yes, I want you to do that."

"What? No, I'm sorry!!!"

"It's too late, now come with me!"

"No!!!"

Mina drags Sola away to discipline her for her cruel prank while Claire and Nova go to Kitt's temporary room where he had been hiding and crying under the bed's blankets. Nova then tries to calm Kitt down while Claire patiently waits outside.

"Master, I'm very sorry for what I asked Sola to do."

"No! You're so mean!"

Kitt angrily replied to Nova and hid under the blankets again.

"Hmm... do you want me to please you for a bit?"

"What? No, just leave me alone!"

Kitt's muffled response sounded from the blankets.

"Nope! I will always be here for you!"

Nova then used his telekinesis to lift the blanket where Kitt was hiding.

"Nova, go away!"

"I will if you lighten up for me!"

Nova got on the bed with Kitt but was stubbornly pushed away by him.

"Leave me alone!"

"No!"

Nova then grows his tentacles which restrain Kitt on the bed with him lifting up his skirt to take off his underwear that had been replaced with panties.

"Good, Mina also told me that you weren't really properly trained in vehicle use and that you don't even know the full layout of the base aside from the main rooms so I'll be the one to take us to our destination."

The three then went to the surface hangar where a small helicopter was ready for them to take.

"You know master, I could just fly us to our destination but the problem is I don't know where!"

While starting up the helicopter, Claire overhears Nova's suggestion and brings up the possibility to fly instead of using the helicopter.

"So you don't know where? Here, I'll show you."

She then shows Nova the GPS tablet of the helicopter and with just a quick scan, he already managed to pinpoint the location of their destination in his mind.

"Master, I know where we're going now so I can fly us instead of using this slow helicopter!"

"Well what about Claire? How are you going to take her with us?"

"Very simple! I'll just have a clone wrap around her body to fly her with us?"

"Huh? Wrap around me? What do you mean?"

"Like this!" Nova suddenly hugged Kitt and melted onto him, covering his entire body including his face and head.

"Nova! You know this is very uncomfortable, right?"

"Don't worry master, I had thought of a solution for that!" The insides of Nova suddenly became warm and fluffy like wearing a teddy bear all over your body.

"How do you feel, master?"

"Uh... a bit more comfortable now, but it still feels weird for me to be wearing your entire body!"

Seeing Nova be worn by Kitt to achieve flight through telekinetic power, Ren and Claire also thought about using their own powers to fly.

"Claire, let me evolve your body for you to gain wings for a short while."

"Is that even safe to do?"

"I assume so seeing that you could reverse the growth of your horns by cutting your magic supply."

"Then let's try it!"

Claire then leaves the helicopter to test out Ren's hypothesis of forced devolution into a primal dragon.

"Master, Claire seems to be doing something outside, should we see what she's up to?"

"Of course!"

Kitt also gets off of the helicopter and sees that Claire seems to have knelt down and is struggling on the floor.

"Claire, are you alright?"

Kitt then tried to reach out to Claire, but she suddenly screamed in pain after growing massive pairs of wings on her back.

"Claire!"

After growing her giant wings, Claire then passed out from exhaustion with Ren taking over her body for now.

"Ah! Ren! What happened to Claire?!"

"She seems to have passed out due to my power... Don't worry though, she's perfectly fine."

"Phew... I thought she was in real danger for a sec. Those wings, can they really make you fly?"

"Well these wings are nothing but cosmetics for a normal dragon. A real primal dragon's wings which could easily span a small house, letting them carry their giant bodies into the sky, but it seems that trying to grow wings on a body this small wouldn't work but fortunately, I have a solution for that!"

Being a master of wind in his previous life, Ren uses his wind powers as a guiding lift for Claire's wings, enabling her to fly like a real dragon.

"Woah! So cool!"

"Hah, I have no use for wings as my power of flight is through telekinesis but... if you want to, master, I'll grow wings as decoration for my body!"

"Go for it!"

With Kitt's enthusiastic approval, Nova grows shiny red wings which he flaunts in the air with Ren.

"Oh hey! You have wings too?"

"It doesn't actually work, it's just there for looks. So, are you ready to fly with us?"

"Let's go!"

The two then take to the skies, flying through the night sky like two shooting stars.

"Woohoo! This feels amazing!"

When Nova first took Kitt to the skies, it was when they were still strangers to each other, so he was not able to appreciate the feeling of flying until now.

"Hey, you two! Watch this!"

As they flew, Ren had built up a massive momentum of wind which he released into the sky, scattering the clouds to show the glittery stars of the night sky.

"I can show you my tricks too, you know!"

Static began to gather around Nova which gave Kitt a bit of a tingling feeling while he was inside.

"Nova! I'm in you remember!"

"Oh right! Sorry, Ren, but you're gonna have to wait to see my power!"

With the quick speed that the two flew at, they reached their destination in thirty minutes which would have taken three hours by helicopter.

"Wow! We're already here!"

"Pretty impressive sense of direction, Nova."

"Hehe, thanks."

The two then land at a broken hut located just outside of the castle with Ren cutting off his magic power, causing Claire's wings to retract and horns shorten while Nova separates from Kitt who was a bit weak from all the flying and had to be slowly sat down.

"Ough... what happened..."

"Claire! You're awake!"

"Hey Kitt, ugh... my back hurts so much... Ren, what happened..."

"Claire, it seems that growing wings was too much for you which made you pass out. But if you were to train your body, you might be able to handle it next time."

"The last thing I remembered was kneeling down on the ground in pain... at least you guys kept me safe."

After resting for a bit, the four then make their way to the courtyard of the castle which was completely barren with no signs of life or disturbance anywhere.

"Master, shouldn't we tell Claire that her wings that were supposed to disappear after Ren returned her back to normal are still there?"

"Nah, let them notice on their own."

They eventually went inside the castle, but it was too dark to see what was inside so using his own powers, Nova copied Luna's technique of flame summoning and summoned a purple flame above all of their heads to light the way. But the illuminating flame was barely used since as soon as the group entered the castle, the torches of the halls were lit up with a deep red flame and the big doors of the entrance were shut closed. All magic use was also nullified, including Nova's flames and even Ren was completely dispelled.

"Huh? Ren? Are you there?"

"Nova! Your flames! They're gone!"

"Master, I can't seem to summon them again!"

The group began to panic from the disappearance of Nova's light and Ren's inactivity to the mysterious force that blocked all magic in the castle.

"We need to find what's causing this and fast! If there are monsters in here with us they can easily kill us all since we didn't even bring any weapons!"

"Don't worry, master, I'll use my body to form weapons for us."

Even with the loss of magic or use of supernatural power, Nova could still manipulate his body to any shape and form so he formed a hardened slime dagger for Claire, a falchion for Kitt, and a halberd for himself. The trio then explore the castle even further where they reach a long windowed hallway that seemed to have its glass frosting over.

"Anyone else feel like the room is getting colder?"

"I do not feel any dropping temperature, master. How about you, Claire?"

"Yeah, it's getting chilly in here."

They began to traverse across the cold room and as soon as they had reached the door to the otherside of the hallway, a menacing presence suddenly appeared behind them.

"Master! Claire! Watch out!"

Nova quickly pushed the two to the side, saving them both from being impaled by a giant claw of a skeletal beast that had snuck up behind them.

"Nova!"

Unfortunately, Nova was the one to take the hit for the two and was dragged away into darkness.

"No!!!"

Kitt tries to chase after the giant hand, but Claire stops him from going any further.

"Let go of me!"

"Kitt! Get a hold of yourself! You saw how big that thing was! Do you really expect to be able to fight that thing?"

Kitt angrily flicks away Claire's hand, knowing that he really couldn't do anything without Nova's help.

"We have to move forward! And don't you have faith in Nova? A slime like him wouldn't be easily killed by a simple attack like that!"

"Sigh... you're right, we need to find whoever is causing the magical disturbance before it's too late."

The two then go back to the door at the end of the hallway and go through it, with the other side resembling that of a roundtable where multiple inanimate skeletons of different kinds of beasts sat upon.

"This room feels so creepy... It's like they all died while discussing something."

"There's another set of doors over there. Let's move quickly."

But before the two could open the next set of doors, a bone was suddenly thrown at Claire's back.

"Ow! Who did that? And I still have wings? I thought these should have disappeared when Ren turned me back to normal?"

"Claire, I think that's the least of your worries for now..."

The skeletons at the roundtable had gotten up, picking up the swords that had laid beside them or anything that could be used as a weapon, even their own comrade's body parts.

"Skeletons? Kitt, here's a good tip for you; attack their legs to make them fall over so once they're down, stomp on their skulls and destroy their magic cores!"

"Got it!"

The two take on one side of each side of the table, having to fight 4 skeletons each.

"A skeleton of a cat, two wolves, and a big tiger. This might be hard..."

Kitt easily dispatched with the cat skeleton and struggled a bit with the two wolves but still managed to beat them until it was only the tiger skeleton left.

"Tch, the legs of the tiger are too strong! I'll have to try and go straight for the head to destroy its core instantly!"

The tiger skeleton takes a big swing at Kitt using the other bones of the fallen skeletons around the room, but he easily dodges the attack and lunges at the tiger's head, but only manages to take off its jaw.

"Uh oh..."

Kitt, who was wide open after missing his attack, was punched by the tiger skeleton straight in the chest and was sent flying, probably breaking a rib or two in the process.

"Kitt! Are you alright?! Ah, shit!"

Claire too was at her last enemy, that being a skeleton of a cheetah that was much faster than her, so she could not get a good hit on it's legs to slow it down and execute.

"Cough... cough... huh? Blood? I'm bleeding?"

This was the first time Kitt was ever injured this severely which made him panic at the sight of blood, but seeing Claire struggle with her own enemy, he quickly regained his composure and got up on his feet to fight the tiger skeleton once again.

"Grrr... Damn you!!!"

Now with renewed confidence, Kitt charged at the tiger skeleton and this time, he was able to dodge its powerful swings and sliced off its head in half along with the core that kept it alive.

"Great job, KItt! Now help me with this guy!"

Due Claire's short weapon, it was not possible to even get a hit off at the cheetah skeleton who outranged her so she could only block its incoming attacks. Kitt and Claire switch weapons so that she can more effectively fight the monster. The skeleton pounces on Claire, but this time, she manages to both block and strike back in the middle of its attack, making it lose an arm which significantly limited its movement. Having lost an arm, the cheetah skeleton runs to the tiger skeleton's body to replace its missing arm but before it could do so, Kitt quickly threw the hardened slime dagger at its head, piercing its core and killing it instantly.

"Wow... we actually did it..."

"Yeah... huff... huff... I really need to get better at fighting since I can't rely on Nova all the time when I'm in danger while on these crazy missions."

"Kitt! You're bleeding!"

"Oh right, I'm bleeding!"

Kitt quickly tore apart a bit of his clothes to patch up his wounds, but when he did, it immediately turned back into slime that attached itself onto his body and crept towards his wounds, sealing it and applying some sort of antiseptic.

"Ah! Nova's slime is still active so he must still be alive!"

"I told you that you should trust in his abilities! Now let's move on forward!"

With Claire's fighting spirit, Kitt was inspired to keep going and to find whoever made those skeletons and how to possibly find Nova again. The two opened the next set of doors beyond the roundtable room and when they went inside, they instantly felt like this would be the last room until their adventure would come to its end.

"Kitt, the atmosphere in this room... is so heavy!"

"I can't even breathe properly!"

The room they had just entered was filled with an unholy red mist that seemed to drain them off all their strength until they trudged through and made their way through the final door which led to some kind of throne room where the mist had cleared up slightly but now there was a more intimidating presence than the boney hand that took Nova.

"Well, well, well, looks like the intruders have gotten past my little experiments. I assume you also defeated my biggest creation or someone else is stalling it for time, but I must say, I'm impressed that you even made it through that cold hallway without turning back out of fear."

With crimson eyes and devilish horns, the intimidating presence from the room had been coming from a blue wolf that was sat upon the throne and with evil energy leaking from the steps and down onto the floor, the two couldn't help but tremble at the presence of this evil being in front of them.

"So? Why are you here? Did you come here to stop my plans of revenge? Or are you here to take over my castle for your own benefit?"

"We're... we're here to stop you!"

"And how do you plan on doing that? You don't even have those things called guns that you modern beasts have invented. The only thing that can hurt a magical being is another magical being but I have set up an anti magic field that disabled the use of all magic!"

The wolf cackles maniacally, as if already proclaiming its victory against Kitt and Claire.

"Enough! Whatever you're doing either good or evil, has been causing problems to the people outside of your castle!"

"And do you think I care? Those people only cared about me when my reign had brought prosperity to the land, but when I fell to the low of my life, they left me behind and thought of me as a failed ruler! I'll awaken a god of destruction by sacrificing the inhabitants of the villages near my castle as proof that I am still the most powerful leader of the lands!"

The throne room was also creepily decorated by meathooks that had dead beasts impaled on them, presumably those who had entered the castle before.

"We won't let that happen!"

"What a shame... I thought I could convince you to join my cause with free will since you were powerful enough to best my minions. Oh well, I can always force anyone to join my side."

From the throne, the red wolf raised its hand towards the two, trying to control their mind by force, causing a great headache which the two try their best to resist.

"Gahaaa!!! It hurts!!! Kitt, are you not affected by it?"

It was not that Kitt wasn't affected by the wolf's control, but it was because Kitt instantly fell under his control that he did not show any pain or resistance.

"So the cat wanted to join me? Or was his will really that weak? As my first follower, I will allow you to be my personal servant. It's been ages since I've released some of my sexual desires so I hope this cat will please me well!"

Kitt's mind had really been taken over by the demon wolf with his expression going blank and eyes glowing red.
