Chapter 7 - Return to The Cat Ages

"Mina, what are we doing in your lab?"

"The heads had asked me to test out some magical potions on you due to your modified body providing a great healing factor thanks to Nova being able to change your body to any way he sees fit."

"Huh? What if I die?"

"Don't worry, Nova is right outside waiting for you."

It had been a week ever since Nova had turned their cat plant friend into a real cat and after telling Sola about what happened, Mina quickly caught wind of it and thought of the possibility of finally finding out the effects of mysterious potions that have been stored away for decades with no real use or knowledge on its effects due to the company's humane policy of not using live test subjects until now.

"Come on, you will be fine! I'm sure none of these will make you explode or outright kill you!"

"I'm not worried about that, I'm worried about the awful taste! Okay, maybe the dying part as well but still! I'm not drinking any of it!"

"If you drink at least 3 bottles I'll renovate your house."

Kitt's eyes widened in interest but there were still lingering doubts in his mind.

"Don't worry, we also found a cure all potion for any disease that should turn you back to normal."

"A cure all potion? You mean this can cure cancer?"

"Yep!" "Why haven't you told the public yet?!"

"We may have liters of this stuff but it doesn't seem to heal beasts with no innate magical abilities, as if the potion only works on a video game character."

"But I have no magical power at all!"

"Stop lying, I can feel magic coming off of your body right now!"

Mina holds Kitt's hand with some sort of technique; she forced Kitt to use his magic by summoning a glowing knife which was the same as Nova's energy powers.

"See? You have magic in you since we're descendants of a great adventurer!"

"But... this is clearly Nova's power!"

"Maybe you had no attunement at all and when Nova transformed you back when you merged, you also gained his magical power."

Nova waves and smiles through the glass window outside of the lab after hearing them talk about his gift to Kitt. And even though the lab and the glass window was too thick to hear anything coming from the inside, Nova managed to magnify the sound of the quiet conversation with his ears to hear inside.

"Well anyways, are you ready now?"

"I guess..."

Mina then raises up an antique chest and opens it, revealing the contents of the chest having a wonderful assortment of potions with different colors, shapes, and sizes.

"I'll separate the poisonous and harmful ones for now."

"Gah! You didn't even bother to check beforehand?"

Mina carefully sorts out the potions from dangerous, to known, and to unknown leaving Kitt with only 3 bottles to drink. The remaining bottles had varying designs with the first being a heart shaped bottle with a pink liquid, the second having the shape of a whisky bottle but having a dark liquid and was labeled with a smoke symbol, and the last bottle was a small vial with crystal clear liquid and marked with "DO NOT DRINK".

"Now, pick your poison."

"I thought these weren't poisonous?"

"I'm kidding!" "Okay..."

Kitt picks the second potion to drink first since it intrigued him due to it being stored in a bottle of whisky. The liquid tasted just like real whisky but the usual thought impairing effects of alcohol was not present. After a few seconds of ingestion, Kitt suddenly turned white and transparent.

"Ah! I'm a ghost now!"

Mina tries to reach out to Kitt but her hand went straight through him.

"Oh, you're a ghost alright."

Kitt walks around the lab and notices that he could walk through the tables and chairs so he tries walking through the glass window where Nova was watching through.

"Oh! Hello master! Are you done experimenting with Mina? How is it possible that you just walked through all the solid objects inside?"

"I drank something weird that Mina wanted me to test out."

Kitt looks back into the room hearing the muffled shouting of Mina to go back inside.

"Looks like Mina wants me back in again, Nova, stay behaved okay?"

Nova nods back and Kitt walks through the wall again and back into the lab.

"I didn't say you could leave just yet!"

"Hey, if you had the powers of a ghost, wouldn't you also want to walk through walls?"

"Okay, you got me there. Anyways, drink the curing potion now and we'll go to the next two."

Even though Kitt was basically a ghost, he can still interact with things he chooses to so even though he passed through the furniture of the lab, he can still pick up an object that he chooses. Kitt drinks the curing potion and returns back to normal and this time, he chooses the heart shaped bottle to drink next. The heart shaped potion was decently sized, being comparable to a perfume bottle and the liquid inside tasting like a pure fruit extract of strawberry. Kitt gulps down 1/4th of the bottle's contents but nothing seems to have happened.

"Nothing? Finally, a safe potion!"

"Hmm... I'll try it too I guess."

Mina pours a small drop of the heart potion into her hand to taste it and as soon as she did, Kitt's eyes suddenly turned pink and his pupils shifted to a heart shape.

"Hey Mina, will you be my girlfriend?"

"What? I'm your sister!" Mina turned around to give a disgusted look to Kitt but quickly noticed what went wrong with him.

"What the hell? Kitt, are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm alright so can you be my girlfriend now?"

There was clearly something wrong with Kitt that made him act this way after Mina had had a taste of the heart shaped potion. Mina also had a bit of interest in Kitt when she tasted a drop of the potion but it quickly faded away unlike Kitt who drank 1/4th of the bottle and was deeply hypnotized by it.

"Mina, we'll be together forever, I promise!"

"Hey! I'm your sister, get off of me!"

Kitt gives a tight hug of love to Mina but before things could escalate any further, she poured a bottle of the curing potion on his head whick quickly brought him back to his senses.

"Be my girlfriend, Mina!"

"No!!!"

"Ah... Oh! Mina, what's going on?"

"The heart potion was a love potion! You instantly fell in love with me the moment I tasted a bit of it!"

"Ew... Why would I ever want to have my sister as my girlfriend?"

"Well just so you know, I'll always be your girl friend."

"Thanks."

"No problem. Now, drink the last one for me."

Kitt goes back to the table where the last potion was and since it was very small, he managed to drink the contents of the bottle with one gulp.

"Mmm... tastes like coconut!"

But the coconut taste of the little potion was only a front for its real malicious effects. Kitt suddenly began to shrink in size and his proportions began to regress as well and began to stand on 4 legs instead of 2.

"Mina, what's happening to me!"

Kitt screams in painless agony as Mina could only watch as his brother turns into something unlike she had ever seen before. Kitt's cries for help slowly turned into meowing and finally calmed down. The potion had transformed Kitt back into a small primitive cat that couldn't talk or walk on its hind legs.

"Gah! Kitt, are you okay?"

Mina picks up the small gray cat that used to be her brother and studies it. Seeing the weird transformation that went down inside, Nova busted into the lab to check on his master. "Mina! What happened to master?"

"I... I don't know..."

"Turn him back!"

Mina tries to feed the primitive cat with the curing potion but it scratches her arm, making her drop it and promptly runs off.

"Ow! Hey! Get back here!"

Mina prepares another bottle of the curing potion while Nova gives chase to his transformed master.

"Master! Come back!"

Kitt in his primitive form was smaller and more agile so every time Nova was about to get a hold of him, he simply slipped away from his grasp. The primitive cat made its way out of the lab area and proceeded to make its way into the lobby where it coincidentally met and approached Luna.

"Hmm? What's this creature doing outside of the containment area?"

Luna picks up the primitive cat with her tails and inspects it even further.

"Why does it smell like Kitt? The fur patterns too! But Kitt isn't this small... Is It an experiment of some kind?"

Nova finally caught up in the lobby but the cat instantly saw him and clawed its way out of Luna's tails and ran off again.

"Ouch! Naughty cat thing, come back here!"

Kitt then ran off to another part of the base, this time into the cafeteria where Max was having lunch.

"Mmm... The sushi in the base just cannot be beat!"

Kitt spots the table where Max was eating and quickly steals the last pieces of sushi on his plate before running off again.

"Huh? Where did my sushi go?"

Max looks around and sees Kitt running off with his food and gives chase as well. There were now 3 people chasing Kitt around the base but he still managed to avoid them all and continued exploring the base, this time arriving at the shooting range where Sola was tinkering with the guns of other beasts that had asked to have their guns upgraded.

"Almost... got it in... Ah! What the hell!"

Kitt jumped on the workbench where Sola was working and scattered all the parts on the table, enraging Sola and ruining her focus.

"Bastard! Get back here!"

After making a mess in the shooting range, Kitt's last stop was the infirmary where Plitt had been hired to work at and where an orange dragon with ancient armor was also resting.

"Oh, hello Kitt, it's nice to see you again."

Plitt could still recognize Kitt even in his primitive form and picked him up and gave him a good scratching just above his tail as if he knew where the perfect spot to scratch is in Kitt's primal form.

"You know, Kitt, after a millennia of knowledge and wisdom from nature about the evolution of plants and beasts, I wouldn't have expected to meet the first race of cats in my lifetime."

Plitt puts down Kitt who was finally satisfied with his petting.

"Go run along now, I need to tend to Claire over here."

Just as Kitt had left, the four had only made it to the infirmary and after asking for Kitt's whereabouts, they continued their chase back to the lobby where Mina had also coincidentally gone to find Kitt.

"Over there! Quick, get that thing!"

Sola, Luna, and Max finally surround Kitt to catch him but Nova quickly intervenes and picks him up with his telekinesis.

"Good work Nova! Now what is this thing?"

"Max, this is master!"

"Huh? What happened to Kitt? Why is he so small and walking on four legs?"

Mina finally arrived and after catching her breath, she explained what happened to the other three.

"Oooh, so that's why he smelled like Kitt! Now that he's smaller, he'll be easier to play with!"

"Hey! Don't touch master!"

Nova summons his axe to threaten Luna which quickly made her back down from trying to take Kitt. Sola then takes Kitt from Nova so that she and Max could ask him why he caused them trouble but Kitt could not understand due to his primitive form.

"Kitt, why did you mess up my work?!"

"Yeah! And you took my food too!"

But Kitt only replied back with a gentle meow.

"Aww... You're so cute in this form! I could never get angry at you now!"

"Hmph, I won't forget this! Okay, maybe I will..."

The two play around with Kitt by passing him around and giving head and back scratches every turn.

"Alright, that's enough. Make Kitt drink this so he turns back to normal now."

"No way! I want Kitt in this form for a little longer!"

"Whatever, take this potion and feed it to him and as long as you turn him back to normal by the end of the day, he should be fine. Luna, come with me for a bit, I need your help with magical foods next. Nova and Sola, you can go back home for now."

Max, Mina, and Luna leave them to go back to their own duties with the other three taking the lobby portal back home.

"We're back home again!"

The two dragons come inside of the house and placed Kitt down who then gets on the sofa and started to claw on the pillows.

"Kitt! Don't ruin the sofa, hey!"

Sola tries to catch Kitt but he runs upstairs and into the bedroom where he hides under his computer desk.

"Sigh... Sola, go spend master's energy so he calms down while I fix up the sofa."

Nova adheres his glue on the pillows to fix them while Sola goes upstairs to calm Kitt down.

"Oh Kitt... Where are you?"

Sola walks near the computer desk where Kitt runs out to surprise her.

"Oh! There you are! You're too energetic Kitt and we need to fix that!"

Sola picks up Kitt and lays him on the bed where he curls up and sits down, waiting for what she will do next.

"Hmm... Should I just make him sleepy? No, that's not the right way to do it... Oh I know! Let's dress you up to pass the time!"

Sola remembers some of the pictures of feminine clothes that Mina showed her to copy and using her slime, she dresses up Kitt in a cat maid costume along with a collar that bears his name.

"Aww! You're so cute!"

But Kitt was very annoyed at the headband and took it off then ripped it apart, causing it to turn back into slime which retreated back to Sola.

"Hmm... what about your everyday clothes?"

The maid dress on Kitt's little body then morphs into his outdoor clothes, with a cute varsity jacket and jeans. And this time, Kitt was more comfortable with the new clothes so he was still quite energetic and playful. Just then, Nova had arrived upstairs after fixing the sofa pillows and was wondering what Sola was doing to Kitt.

"Hey, what are you doing with master without me?"

"Oh! I'm dressing him up with cute clothes! Look!"

Sola picks up Kitt and proudly shows him to Nova.

"Oooh! Would it be possible to make him wear my armor?"

"Let me try!"

The slime clothes leave Kitt's body and Sola's energy takes their place with it condensing into her armor with perfect proportions for the primitive cat. After the armor had fully developed, Sola suddenly heard a silenced meow from Kitt whose head had been buried in the bed due to the armor's heavy helmet.

"Huh? Is there something wrong?"

Sola then noticed that the armor had made Kitt sink into the bed due to his small cat body being unable to support the weight of the armor and seeing Kitt struggle, Nova quickly removed the helmet so that he could breathe once more.

"Sola, your armor is too heavy! My armor is a bit lighter than yours so let me try next."

Sola's armor then disappeared into yellow sparks with pink sparks replacing it which then turned into Nova's traditional armor.

"Meow..."

Nova's armor was also still too heavy for Kitt to wear so they completely scrapped the idea and moved on to something else.

"Do you think Kitt is hungry?"

"Probably, master did steal Max's food earlier. I'll go get some downstairs then."

From the bedroom, Nova used his telekinesis to gather up different kinds of food in the house which included leftover cabbage, pieces of milkfish, and Kitt's favorite white chocolate.

"Here you go master, pick whichever one you like."

As soon as the food made its way to the bedroom, Kitt immediately went and leapt for the fish before it even reached the ground.

"Welp, Kitt really was hungry!"

Kitt hungrily devoured the strips of milkfish and after doing so, he went back to bed with Sola and Nova and curled up into a ball and slept.

"Looks like master is tired now, I think we can turn him back to normal now."

Nova retrieves the bottle of curing potion downstairs and gently feeds it to the sleeping cat using a small tendril the size of an IV drip. After emptying the bottle, Kitt's form immediately began to return back to normal with his body growing bigger and proportions returning back to their original state but the transformation did not bother him at all and was still soundly asleep.

"I think it's time for us to sleep too."

"Hold on! Just one more thing."

Sola then spreaded her slime all over Kitt which then turned into a cute maid costume as his sleeping clothes.

"There we go! Now we can sleep!"

And so, the two dragons cover themselves with the bed's blanket and sleep snuggly together, now with their master having been turned back to normal.
