#29 of Magna-Verse Fiction

Hi guys, I hope you are enjoying the story so far^^

Mo'Ceva is working an elaborate terminal that looks like a combination of a pipe-organ and steam engine, the machine emitting an orange glow in some of it's glass tubing as on either side are orbs of shifting and floating sand of shimmering gold. The mystic fox types the silver keys as she scans the screen, the mystic text giving a light tinge of blue due to the energies embedded in the material, she gives a sigh as she wonders about the battles to come and what may come of this whole ordeal, she's gone over the contents of the forces of her allies and those the enemy that they know or speculate about... she knows that this will end with one being victorious and the total defeat of the other, the question being of which will claim the taste of glory.

The vixen shuts the terminal down and begins to head to her destination, the bridge of her vessel, she enters the bridge of her ship to the sound of chatter and hums of energy, she crosses the room with many saluting and bowing their heads, seeing a familiar face...

"Za'vara... I am happy you were able to make it."

The vixen looks to her "I came as soon as I heard of what the cults are up to.", she moves closer to Mo'Ceva "We're still looking through the records to try to see what we have on the Sol System, so far we haven't found anything note worthy as far as general information goes, but Elvo did find something interesting."

................................................

Vanessa and Sabrina are laying with Magnum underneath the covers, the skunks gown of amethyst and the doe's of teal shining in the light as they cuddle with him, he's breathing with some soft gasps and snores as his muzzle rests against the skunk. The two give him light kisses and nuzzles to help keep him relaxed, they however think back to last night with how he was releasing tears and how he kept going the way he did, he didn't look like he was in pain or anything like that... the stress really must've hit him hard, he's gotten better when it comes to dealing with it but he still gets worked up pretty well, he just does his best not to show it. The three enjoy how he deals with stress now as they all feel good afterwards from the activity, they have seen how he becomes when a task needs to be done and how he throws himself at the problem almost machine-like... they know from hearing it from both the wolf and coyote that he can have a dedicated focus, they just didn't know how deep it went.

Sabrina kisses his cheek "The poor dear, his mind is going a million miles an hour and he's trying to figure it out." beginning to rub his forehead with her hand.

Vanessa scans him with those purple eyes "He's trying to do everything at once like he usually does." she sighs "We know how his mind works in that he's trying to solve a hundred problems at once while trying to perform his duties."

The two mature women keep snuggling him, his hands finding their soft touch as their sweet perfume fills the air, his ears twitching at their warming tone cascading upon them. It's easy to see how the environment effects him, watching him cry, coo, whimper and mumble in his sleep is really telegraphic indeed, they've heard him call their names, crying for his mom and dad, they always calm him down... it's always when it sleeps it hits, the nightmare's he suffers from did lax for a while but they've been creeping back in here and there according to him.

Vanessa presses her lips against his, her nose touching his as she closes her eyes for a moment, she stops kissing but keeps her nose against him as Sabrina gives him another kiss on the cheek. The two feel his hands glide a little, those blue eyes slowly opening and blinking a few times before a drowsy grin forms on his lips as he kisses the skunk and tightens his embrace around the skunk and doe a little, he moves and kisses the doe as the ladies pet his head. Magnum looks the two older women over as he takes in their warmth, he just always melts like butter when with them, their feminine smell, voice, touch and appearance always help in keeping him at ease as his senses takes their presence in.

The skunk playfully nuzzles him "Good morning love." with a warm grin.

"Did our man sleep well?" the doe smirking as she caresses him.

The wolf gives a soft yawn "Yeah.." his tone very happy and drained "I always sleep amazing after a night like that."

Magnum sits up with Vanessa laying against his side as Sabrina rests her head on his lap, the wolf petting their heads and giving them a tired smile as he looks into their eyes.

Elvo's voice comes through his communicator "Magnum, we are nearing the rendezvous point with Mo'Ceva."

The wolf acknowledges the digital coyote and the trio quickly get ready in preparing for the day ahead, after cleaning up and the like they make their way to the bridge where the view of jump space is still taking place, Bensen is already at his station, his hair showing signs of a recent shower along with Marie as she's looking over her sidearm, a 9mm pistol with characteristics of a beretta 93r, she loads it's magazine and places it in the holster on her hip. The three take their positions with Magnum beginning to shift through the files that Evlo has gone through that may yield something... and it isn't ideal.

Magnum looks to his sister "Elvo, why is there hardly any data?" with a raised brow.

Elvo appears next to him "After inspecting it, the data is under extreme encryption protocols, I have already conversed with Mo'Ceva about ths and there are no codes available to unlock any of the data-packets. As a result I have been working on forging digital keys that we can use to get the data but it will take some time."

The mystic gives a sigh 'Why?!', he takes a deep breath "Time may not be on our side but we may not have a choice."

The skunk knight looks to him "Sounds like the mystics at that time figured they were done with what they were dealing with and just wanted to forget about it."

Marie nods to herself "It does kind of make sense, I guess they didn't want anyone curious poking around."

"Digital information perhaps but the tomb we discovered yielded our lead and who knows what text the enemy found which pointed them in this direction or perhaps word of mouth and simply passed down." the coyote trying to explain the situation.

Magnum's eyes glance to both of them "It matters not, we must press onward and solve this puzzle.", his gaze focuses on his sister "Just in case we keep the Vector and Gypse 1 on standby should we need them, always good to have some back ups in place."

The massive crusade fleet eventually leaves their jump to quite a sight, a mighty mystic fleet with three heavy stations stand around this massive construct that dwarfs even the dreadnoughts by a significant margin, the massive machine is constructed of some kind of material that gives it the same gleam as silver, twelve massive pedals are along the edge, each baring these red orbs as a gold and bronze skeleton fills in the center, all while glowing blue lines flow with energy throughout the structure. According to Elvo the installation is at staggering 35,000 meters in thickness and it's circumference is so great they can easily fit about fifteen crusade fleets of their combined might with room to spare, a group of mystic vessels begins to move towards the crusade fleet, the most forward is roughly on par in terms of size with a battleship, it's hull a brazen cooper as orange energy goes through it's hull, sails coming off the sides going a stern... despite being half the size of the Hunter of the Damned no one doubts that it has some real bite to it, the other vessels are two battle cruisers, six standard and a few supply ships based on their markings and hull designs.

The crusade fleet is hailed by Mo'Ceva's vessel, the hail revealing a familiar face...

"Za'vara? A pleasure to see you again." the mystic wolf raises a brow at first but replacing it with a more welcoming expression.

The mystic fox gives a slight nod "It's an honor to see you again Magnum." her features looking to try to stay neutral "Though I wish getting reacquainted didn't involve the circumstances we find ourselves in." which earns a nod of confirmation from the wolf.

The other commanders quickly become tense, the last time these two interacted with each other it was a battle to remember as the two clashed as many witnessed the near end of the mystic wolf. All feelings and history aside, the two openly state that they'll work together in as it is for the greater good if they do so, not wanting to put the fleet on edge and waiting for the two to come together in another scuffle. Mo'Ceva informs them that the only way to beat the cults in a race to the Sol System is to use the mystic gate before them, stating that the mystics use them to rapidly travel from system to system and where the race currently resides but also allows a way to quickly go to a system without a gate at the cost of being a one way trip.

The two mystic vixens also inform them that it'll take some time for more reinforcements given that the Alliance is still dealing with various diplomacies and thus their navy is a little thin at the moment along with their military overall. Magnum does inquire about them bringing a gate with them so that they can set one up in the Sol System, they say it is possible but such a thing requires a lot of time and construction... not to mention of political pressure and reasoning given how precious even one gate is. The wolf informs them that worse case scenario they'll need a fast retreat plan and a way to evacuate as many as they can from Earth as well, when asked about what would happen to the gate should such a plan arise and the knight simply replies it'll be destroyed behind them them... earning quite a few looks from the mystics on the other side of the viewer....

Mo'Ceva clears her throat "Each gate is a work of time consuming craft that takes a lot of resources, the loss of one isn't something even we can easily recover from."

"Victory cannot be attained without sacrifice of some measure and our lives carry far more weight then a gate in the long term if such an event occurs. We're going to need every tactical and edge and every way we maneuver to help make this work and we need a lifeline no matter how costly should we have to retreat." the wolf giving them an icey stare.

Derra nods at his words "What Magnum speaks is the truth, if we can have an option to get to saftey then it is a needed step, true if we get cut off we'll fight to the last but we need live warriors and not dead heroes if we can help it."

The two mystic foxes eye each other for a few moments before Za'vara finally gives a nod, Mo'Ceva gives a sigh as she takes in the votes so far casted and the gaze from both Marouge and Poralla showing they are with Magnum on this. She does ultimately say that the wolf is correct but it will take time to secure a gate and bring it to the Sol System and even more time to get the construct functioning, while not ideal it does satisfy everyone present for better or worse.

The mystic fleet joins their numbers with that of the crusade forces, the red orbs become alive on the gate, the pedals begin to move clockwise as the blue energy intensifies, the center soon is ablaze with power of blue and white, the energy swirling and then calming down to a flat surface of light. Mo'Ceva informs them that the gate is ready to send them to the Sol System, one-by-one the combined fleet moves through the massive construct with all arriving in the Sol System to Magnum's amazement with everyone arriving near the ice giant world of Neptune, the dark blue world catching the gazes of Magnum's passengers, filling them with awe by it's beauty. Magnum's dreadnought takes the lead, the sights of the other giants moving by at impressive speed, the cloudy world Uranus passes, followed by the ringed majesty of Saturn and mighty Jupiter. The asteroid belt is made quick work of as the Howling Crusader and mystic vessels reduces the rocky bodies to dust, before long they pass by the red world of Mars, the mystic wolf plots a course to where they see the shimmering world of Venus and the tormented, twilight world of Mercury. Finally the last and most important world in the Sol System is in sight, a world of blue oceans, green and brown earth, even from this distance the world bares a warm and welcoming presence as if wanting the fleet to come near.

Magnum stares at Earth with a neutral look but he's feeling all kinds of emotions, anger, joy, sadness being the strongest by far as many past memories hit him, this is where he started, where he witnessed his strongest of woe's and his tearing grief's along with the light of love and sweeping depression. The wolfs mind begins to wander, if he meets up with his father what worlds will be said and more importantly what can the mystic say? He wonders if his father will listen and let him speak his reasons and what transpired? Can he come clean and admit how he felt in the heat of the moment? He already lost one parent... would it result in him losing the other? Not out of death but of hatred, fear or some other feeling?

He closes his eyes 'Mom, I know you have forgiven me for what I had done... but I know dad won't likely extend me such a branch... if he doesn't please don't be mad at him for my sake, I deserve it after all. I need to own up to it sooner or later and it's best if he hears it from me and no one else.' he opens his eyes 'Whatever he throws at me I can take it, though depending on what it is it may take me some time to recover from it.'

Vanessa moves over to him, bringing an arm around "Are you alright love?"

Magnum glances to her "I am, it's just I am not sure how to feel or handle this."

The skunk gives him a kiss "Look to your heart and say what you need to, it's not about being right or wrong hon."

The wolf knows what she is saying and understands it, the problem is how his father would simply react to any much less all of it as he can't say for sure... but like Vanessa put it, he just needs to talk to him and roll the dice.

.....................................

On Earth the population is in an uproar as the globe has been watching the progress of the unknown vessels as the past week has shown them moving throughout the system with many forming theories what they may want or what the outcome would be including war. The three largest ships having the most of attention given their intimidating looks, especially the white war machine as it looks like a real monster given it's forward facing features as the other two simply coast alongside it.

Brom has been watching the whole situation from the start, the massive fleet looking like something from a space opera that he and his son use to watch. The wolf gives a sigh as he moves to a collection of pictures of his son, late wife and himself, he picks up one of just his boy, the picture showing Magnum in his early teens, smiling as he some cake at a birthday long past, tears swell Brom's eyes as he embraces the photo.

"I'll never lose hope in trying to find you, everyone thinks your dead or that you left and are never coming back... I don't believe that you died or ran away, I know you, you always regrouped yourself and came back ready to try again, to try to make something work. I should have listened to your mother, we should have told you, we should have found a way to work it out. Every day I think of the night when everything fell apart for you, I'll never forget your face full of fear as you wanted to run after your mother and later on you told me you wanted to just talk to her. And what you went through just before you disappeared... it wasn't fair to you at all, you deserved so much more then that."

Brom stops embracing the photo, he wipes his eyes as he looks at it before putting it back in it's place. The wolf glances down the hallway where his sons room is, it's exactly the way he left it, all neat and clean, organized to his specifications, his son didn't take much with him, only some photos and some clothes, his music and some of his video games.

Brom grabs a stack of fliers, his cell phone with some various solar chargers and makes his way out of the house, ready to tackle his ongoing mission on finding his son.

..................................

The Howling Crusader, Hunter of the Damned and mystic battleship which is known as the Harmony of Keys stand above Earth, Magnum doesn't want to bring any attention yet so he decides to take a different approach, he asks for Marouge and Poralla and the mystic foxes to come aboard but Derra will have to wait for the time being as the public will swarm them... and he wants to try to surprise his father, he's nervous but he's at least willing to try to talk to him. Those aboard the mystics dreadnought and the four asked to come over board Magnum's new personnel transport, the Pegasus, unlike the Belfast which is geared towards deploying equipment and power armor the Pegasus serves as transport for organics and capable of cloaking with heavy armor and a good amount of firepower.

The Pegasus leaves the dread and cloaks, the inirtia dampeners and mystic-tech infused heat shields help in cancelling out the re-entry pattern. Everyone is wearing very casual clothes to help blend in with the population until they are ready to reveal themselves on their terms and the new arrivals can have a taste at what Earth has to offer. The craft heads towards the territory known as the United States, specifically towards the northeastern portion, the viewers showing the mild landscape, the flag of royal blue, white shield and grape vines as the nations flag of blue plain with fifty white stars and thirteen stripes of red and white waves. The Pegasus finds a place to land and everyone disembarks from it, they all move as a group and they find their way into the shoreline town, the smell of salt water hits their noses as the wild life sounds and people go about their commute.

Magnum never thought he would see his homeworld ever again, let alone directly where he is from, to him it's a little uncanny as life on Earth is now a mundane experience and nothing compared to those of the void. He's already given everyone the heads up to not drink the water unless they filter it with their technology as while it may look clear it is far from being consumable. As for everyone else they are in awe by the more simplistic living, most of the buildings look fairly old and in some cases the paint has been faded from time or they themselves are succumbing to rot and decay, various works of primitive stone fences here and there as red brick and mortar clash with the painted wood.

Vanessa looks to her wolf "This place is beautiful hon, it's very nice setting." giving a warm grin.

Poralla glances around "Yeah, it's very refreshing." taking a deep breath of the air.

Sabrina notices how occupied Magnum looks, she raises a brow 'You aren't happy to be back here, I can tell sweetheart.'

Magnum glances around and sees his image on missing person posters, he sees his father which causes him to freeze with the others, his father a little older and looking sad as he tries to get peoples attention. Here he was, the living half of his parents, Magnum becomes concerned at what he may say or the words he will end up speaking himself...

He feels someone touch his shoulder, he looks to see Vanessa giving him a warm grin, her soft words hitting him "Go ahead hon, we'll wait here."

The wolf nods and takes a breath, he straightens himself out and heads over to his father, he gets just behind him "Hi dad, it's been a long time." trying to play it straight.

Brom turns around, becoming stunned instantly "Magnum?!" blinking at the sight before him.

The mystic extends his arms outwards "Yeah, I'm back." his features becoming warm as some passerby's take an interest.

Brom let's go of the fliers and embraces his son "My boy! My boy is home!" as Magnum catches him.

The two wolves let happy tears fly as everyone takes the sight in, for the first time of three years father and son are now seeing each other, the two sit on a nearby bench as they share the moment. Vanessa is on the verge of crying herself, it's a wonderful family reunion to see for sure as Bensen and Marie half hug their mom in seeing the sight before them.

.......................................

Kathleen throws a nearby cultist into a bulkhead "The enemy has done what?!" snarling into the air.

The panicking operator is focusing on his task "According to our vanguards the knights have linked up with elements of the Mystic Alliance and they just appeared in the Sol System, it took them some time to verify but the details do show it is indeed them."

The jackal takes a few breaths and roars, the vibrations are so powerful the entire bridge shakes and her voice carries throughout the vessel, the demonic energy around her booming in a torrent. While most of the bridge braces in fear for their own lives, Circie remains calm on her throne, thinking of how to proceed with this new found information, it is agitating that they lost their lead but they still have a huge advantage in terms of numbers and materials, they know the knights can't split their forces and remain as effective as they can and even a force of knights can't take such numbers over a prolong period of time.

Kathleen slashes the air, her teeth baring as she lets a growl out "The vanguard forces are no match for them, we need to send everything in at once and crush them with overwhelming force... but maybe we can still probe the situation."

The unicorn leaves her throne "We can easily take control of the outer planets with little if any issue, once we have them surrounded they'll have no where to run, we have a few tricks we can play to keep them in the Sol System, it'll become their grave as we set the universe ablaze.", she eyes the jackal with her usual grin "Even with Magnum and the other mystics they'll likely still fall, every force that has answered our call brings their own take and in some cases some tools that'll even the playing field.

Kathleen gives her a glance, most of those that fall under their sway and few if any can afford anything major outside of holding a fleet and ground force of some kind... but the jackal knows full well what the unicorn is talking about. The two begin to issue new orders to the vanguard and the rest of their forces, directing them to the four outer worlds and to prepare for war, it'll be a while before they arrive and they know the enemy will dig in, but in the end they want to smash into their hated foe as the officers and corrupted knights already speak of claiming the hides and skulls of the mystics as new trophies of war.

While destroying the enemy is what they welcome it is not their ultimate objective it is something else entirely... the Shifting Crimson...

Circie moves around "It'll give us time to see if we can uncover anything in the outer rim, though I am not expecting anything from the gas giants or dwarf worlds."

The jackal keeps her glare at the void "We can harness the gases for fuel and weaponry, the Sol System will not know peace as we set about accomplishing our goal... if we have to tear the planets and even the sun apart, we will see it through!"

...............................

Everyone has gone to Brom's and Magnum's old home, their introductions surprising Brom especially Vanessa's who informs him she is his sons mate....

Brom gives his son a smirk "Well, you always had an eye for older women.", he takes a sip of his coffee as his son rubs the back of his head "But what have you been up to? It's been three years and I'm anxious to catch up with you."

Magnum gives a sigh "Alot has happened dad, I have seen so much and experienced so much... the past three years I have been in space."

His father blink at his words "You mean like an astronaut?"

"No, I am a freeblade knight." earning a raised brow from the older wolf "Here, I'll show you.", he activates his comm "Elvo, are you there?"

Elvo's form projects and stuns Brom, the coyote looks to him with a grin "It's a pleasure to meet you Magnum's father, I am Elvo."

Elvo and Magnum give Brom a brief overview of what accomplishments the mystic has done for three years, his crusades and what he has created, that Mganum's name and deeds are known across the stars. Brom's attention is on every word with Elvo even showing things like star maps and captured footage showing his son in action, it's all so much for the older wolf to take in... but it's not the last thing for him to hear and for his son to show...

"I have also learned why I have these markings, how I was born with them... I am a mystic wolf."

Brom tilts his head "Mystic wolf?"

"Both you and mom had some mystic code in your dna and it was enough for me to gain that heritage." he opens the palm of his hand, water materializes from the air before it freezes to ice and the air moves in a light current "I also have a beam attack I can fire from my mouth which I have also put to great effect."

Everyone else confirms Magnum's claims with Marouge, Poralla, Mo'Ceva and Za'vara even stating their ranks and positions as the mystic vixens show some of their abilities with even Bensen saying that under Magnum's guidance just became a knight under his lead.

Vanessa gives a grin "Your son means so much to so many people.", she wraps an arm around her mate "He has a strong heart and is very passionate at what he does." laying her head gently against his.

The older wolf takes all the information in, seeing his son giving the older skunk a warm smile and all this stuff that so sci-fi and fantasy is beyond anything he could have ever heard. But seeing his son this happy is what matters to him the most, he remembers how miserable he was before he disappeared and how he gave up on trying to find someone... it's good to see that he's changed at least in that way, seeing him sit between Vanessa and Sabrina shows that he's also not afraid of being close to them either. Though he sees how he's interacting with the doe and skunk, it's clear he and Vanessa are mated though he can see Sabrina and his son holding hands as well... he isn't sure if he should openly congratulate him or not as Vanessa's children are in the room as well but he gives a mentle one if it's true his son is with both of them.

Brom gives a soft nod "Thank you Vanessa I am glad to hear such nice things about him.", he looks to his son "I'm guessing you aren't retiring and moving back?"

Magnum shakes his head "No I'm not, I'm on crusade and the enemy is coming to the Sol System en mass, we're hoping to get to what they are after first."

"Wait, are you one of the leaders of that fleet?"

"Yeah, the big white one is mine." with nod and smirk "We are going to reveal ourselves to the rest of the world soon, when the enemy finally arrives Earth is going to need to be prepared for the coming storm, our forces are great but any help the militaries can give us will be of great aid." rubbing his chin a little.

Brom let's a chuckle out "Still the strategist I see, it's nice to see some things never change."

Magnum removes a communicator from his pocket, he has it float over to his dad "I know you have a cell phone but this is far more effective and reliable, I'll be a little busy but I'll see what we can do."

His father takes the device with a gentle grasp "I understand that you have your job to do, but I hope we can hang out every now and again."

Magnum wants to talk to his dad about what happened and why he left... but he wants to have that talk basically one-on-one... besides that topic wouldn't exactly be appropriate right now.

The rest of the visit goes without a hitch with Magnum and his dad carrying much of the conversation, but everyone else enjoys the time as Bensen and Brom go into talking about being a mechanic and stuff related to the profession. Either way, seeing Magnum has renewed Brom as he's happy to see his son isn't doing just fine but amazing and found a way to both enjoy life and do what he wants to as he found his calling.

His son is a knight and a strong one, he feels so proud of him and honored to be his father... now he gets to witness one of his crusades first hand.

To be continued...
